Hey y'all, my name is Trey Smith and I am a 22 year old photographer from Atlanta, Georgia. I started my photography journey with my parent’s old Nikon EM SLR and have grown into the digital world from film roots. I am a graduating Technical Communication major at Mercer University (Go Bears!), and photography minor. I have built up a large collection of images that I have not been able to share until now, so my personal Tumblr is a collection of old and new work. I am an avid Instagramer and a good bit of my new content is from Instagram. Professionally I shoot with a Nikon D5200 and D40.
When it comes to photography, I like to think of myself as a purist. Clean composition with minimal editing and digital manipulation. Over the years, I have played with everything from long exposure night shots to fast paced sports photography. But I love working with black and white film the most, the grainier the better (Looking at you 3200 Ilford). I also enjoy shooting with vintage cameras like my 1937 Ziess Ikon 120. I have not had much opportunity to work with pinhole, but I love the simplicity and clarity you can achieve from a super small pinhole.
This image is one such pinhole, and one of the best images I have created. Taken with a Sharp Pinhole, Blackburnbox Pinhole Camera, photo-paper negative, and then scanned into digital. Edited in Photoshop CS 6 and Lightroom 5 to remove dust/scratches.
