My friends and I went on a camping trip to Zekreet on the second day of Eid - wandered around Film City, an old abandoned movie set built to look like an old Arabian town (prior to the trip, I thought we were really going to an abandoned village, and I was SO EXCITED. Film city was still very pretty, though.)
After that, we spent the night in the middle of the desert, right by a shallow, murky beach, behind sand and limestone formations. It was beautiful. Spending a day in the rough and tumble of nature helped me think and centre myself. The vastness of the desert, the multitude of stars finally visible in the absence of city lights, it all reminded me that no matter how big problems seem, it is nothing but a passing moment in nature’s story.
Like old, abandoned cities. Or fake ones, at that.
