How to Read Energy and What to Expect

As many of you know, one service I offer on this blog are energy readings. I have gotten a lot of inquiries on how I do these readings, so I would like to inform you on my methods as well give you tips on how to do them yourself. Please note that I am not an expert nor do I have the final say on how to do energy readings properly, this is just my experience.

Understanding Energy
The way I understand energy is as the force that inhabits everything at one point or another. Everything has an energy signature, down to the smallest grain of sand. However, the energy of living things is a bit different. There have been many names given to this energy but it is most often known as one’s life force. The hardest part of an energy reading is picking up on one’s particular energy among the trillions of energy sources swirling around at any given moment, but I will tell you how I do this.

How to Read Someone’s Energy

My method for reading energy is going to be different from everyone else’s. Your method for reading energy will be different from everyone else’s. Everyone has their own techniques for reading energy, but here are a few of mine.

  1. Sit in a comfortable location with at least part of you pressed firmly against the ground.
  2. If you are reading for someone irl, have them sit near you. Physical contact often helps if both of you are comfortable with that.
  3. If you are reading for someone not physically present, it can help to have a piece of them “sit” in front of you. I ask for names and blog urls when I do my readings so that I have an energy signature to focus on but you really can use anything or nothing at all, whatever helps you get a lock on the other person’s energy.
  4. Sit in front of the person or blog and close your eyes. A bit of meditation before you try to tap into their energy is a good idea.
  5. Feel the energy of the earth under you and feel out this individual’s energy as it appears, a piece of the earth just like you.
  6. Grab onto this energy. Snatch it from the earth just briefly. Images, smells, tastes, sounds, colors, and feelings should come to you as you feel their energy. Keep a mental note of what you experience and write it down once you return.
  7. What you have experienced while feeling someone’s energy is their energy reading. It may be a bit of a jumbled mess, but that’s okay. Everyone’s energy is different but there may also be some overlap, which is also okay.

You can give someone their energy reading in many forms. I give mine as a paragraph with everything I saw, yours may be only a line or two. Everyone experiences different things when reading energy and having shorter readings isn’t a bad thing. You may even pick up on more or less energy from each individual. Its totally okay if some readings are long and others very short.

So…. What if your energy reading doesn’t resonate with me, like, at all?

There could be a great number of reasons your reading went screwy. As I said before, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it simply changes shape. This being said, it could be a number of factors.

  1. I am picking up not on your energy, but the energy of someone very close to you. If you have been in contact with them recently, pieces of your energy sometimes clings to them.
  2. It could also be that I am reading into the energy of one of your past lives, something you won’t necessarily resonate with or remember.
  3. It could also be that the reading was accurate but maybe some part of it was hard to hear, or some repressed memory. This is not the fault of the reader, in the long run it is up to the client to interpret the reading.
  4. It could also be external factors in my own life clouding my ability to pick up on your energy. My cat knocks over a vase in another room and not thinking I write that in as your energy because I was so lost in the moment.
  5. It could also be you’re my last in a long line of energy readings and I am exhausted and hurriedly trying to get through your reading without paying attention to detail.
  6. It could be any number of things, all acting upon one another. Keep an open mind.

Whatever the reason for your energy reading not being accurate, it is best to just be polite and move on. No good will come of harassing a reader, especially if they are offering a free service.

I just did an energy reading and I’m exhausted!

Yup, that’s a real thing and totally normal. Energy readings can be draining, especially for beginners, as you expend some of your energy when you tap into the earth and go out in search of other energies. This is especially draining at first if you have not yet learned how to shield your energy when searching in the energy field and subsequently some of it may be leeched out. Here are some self care tips to help you regenerate faster.

  1. Time yourself. I like to light a stick of incense before I start my readings. Once it is completely burned out, I stop no matter what I’m doing and go drink some water and just do something I enjoy for 30 minutes or so before returning to readings.
  2. Eat or drink something sugary or high in carbohydrates while you read to return energy lost. I like to munch on sweet cherries while I read.
  3. Learn to shield yourself from energy drain. I imagine my energy dressed in a suit of impenetrable armor before I search out someone’s energy. Your shield can come in any manor of form, find one that feels right to you and keeps the pesky energy leech out.
  4. Take little breaks in between readings, even just a minute or two to catch your breath.
  5. Use crystals to return your energy. I like to take some moon-charged amethyst and hold it in my palm during breaks, feeling its energy flow into me.
  6. Practice self care. Shower, change your clothes, put on some lotion or makeup… Anything like that will help replenish energy.
  7. Take a nap! I have a bad habit of doing energy readings as soon as I wake up and then I’m dead for the rest of the day. Napping helps immensely.
  8. Know your limits. You probably won’t be able to do 20 energy readings your first day. Pacing is so important.
  9. If you are doing energy readings online, be prepared to use the block button. Some people are going to be rude, but that is their problem not yours.
  10. Have fun! If energy readings become stressful take a break. If someone is waiting on you for their energy reading, they will understand if it comes a little late. If not, fuck ‘em. You don’t owe anything to people who don’t care about your well being as a reader.

There are a great many things you can do to recharge after an energy reading, but these are just a few of my favorites. Everyone is different, and respecting that is key.

Remember actually enjoying yourself is key. Good luck with your energy readings!

Frisk: “Are you an interior decorator? Because when I saw you, the entire room became beautiful.“
Chara: “I think you’re trying too hard, Frisk.”

Charisk is important. Now to try working on things that I was supposed to do tonight.

Pit and Dark Pit :D
Honestly, the only thing I know about them is that they’re super epic when playing Super Smash Bros Brawl/Wii U!!!!

I call people sometimes hoping not only that they’ll verify the fact that I’m alive but that they’ll also, however indirectly, convince me that being alive is an appropriate state for me to be in. Because sometimes I don’t think it’s such a bright idea. Is it worth the trouble it takes trying to live life so that someday you get something worthwhile out of it, instead of it almost always taking worthwhile things out of you?

omg i just watched this show called bakers or fakers. basically two professional bakers compete against hobbyist. though who's who is kept a secret till the end. they have challenges with certain ingredients or desserts. i can totally imagine bitty going on the show.

YUP!

Also AU where Jack is a guest judge on the show and he knows he’s supposed to be there as the “Eye Candy Sports Star” and isn’t expected to actually know much about baking or about knowing who is the professional or the faker BUT the Falconers (for the first time since Jack was named captain) failed to make the playoffs (so. many. injuries. Jack himself was out for a huge chunk of the season and Tater pulled his hammy and it was– Not his fault. Jack knows that but STILL). The point is Jack had some extra time on his hands and so not only did he watch every episode of Bakers and Fakers to get used to the format, he also read tons of How To Bake books and he was going to start on the youtube channels but he’d run out of time. (Plus Jack prefers books, youtube videos can be a bit too loud for him. Especially with the weird background music some of them put on while things are baking.)

The point is: Jack goes to this taping Way Too Hyped and, honestly, putting a lot of the competitive spirit he reserves for hockey into Judging. Jack is going to get this: he is going to figure out who are the bakers and who are the fakers and… well actually there’s no scoring system per se but he is going to give specific feedback and win this thing anyhow.

Enter Eric Bittle.

Tiny. Blond. Friendly. Stunningly attractive. Freakishly fast at baking. Super nice to one of his fellow contestants who looks like a sweet old grandma. Super condescending and says things like “Oh, honey, that’s precious” to other fellow contestant who Jack thinks is a bit of a prick.

Jack decides right away that he must be a Faker. He is too young not to be. And he keeps cutting corners, not doing the things that Jack had read about and if there is one thing that Jack “knows” is that’s you Don’t Cut Corners in baking. So he is the faker.

He is also the best, but Jack is not to be deterred. Bittle gets through the first round no problem (Douchebag’s cupcakes were basic and dry so he goes and the other contestants seem happy about it.) and it’s onto the second round. For this round, all the contestants have to use maple syrup (in honor of Jack). Jack and the other judges bicker easily among themselves about who left is the Faker and who is the Baker and Jack tries over and over to get them to see that clearly Bittle is a faker. He has to be. There is no way he can use that much maple syrup without it coming out too sweet. He is making rookie mistakes. At one point, he added sirracha to his pie?? It didn’t make sense. He doesn’t make sense. Jack is positive.

Then they get to the tasting and the other two contestants are good and Jack is pretty confident that Marsha is a professional because damn her maple crisp thing is delicious but–

But then he takes a bite of Bittle’s maple crusted pie and he… he sees stars honestly.

“I was wrong,” Jack Zimmerman admits out loud to a studio audience. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration, the day is too long so there is no live audience). “He’s the real deal. He’s a baker for sure.”

The other judges agree. And because they have to give less money to real Bakers and thus always chose who they thing is a real Baker (and because Bittle was handsdown the best), Bittle wins the show.

And then comes the question: “Are you a baker or are you a faker?”

Marsha (as Jack suspected) is a Baker. That’s okay. Janelle is the faker and then Jack was right. They have Bittly announce what he is next. There’s the tense silence. Jack is glaring at him without really meaning to.

“I.” Bittle starts. Jack hasn’t felt so pumped since he was playing against the Flyers and they were tied up with 34 seconds left. “Am. A.”

Jack is holding his breath. He needs a win. He was right about this.

“Faker!”

Bittle laughs. The other judges all exclaim at how amazed they are by this. The host gets Bittle to explain that he is still a college student and he does most of his baking in a frat house (hence the sirracha move). Everyone is amazed.

Jack is livid. He knew it and then stupid Bittle made him change his answer. He should have stuck with his gut, he should have–

“Sorry for fooling you right at the end, darling,” Bittle says as they wrap up, shooting him a smile. “Had to get that 15 grand though.”

“I knew it, though,” Jack mumbles, feeling his face go a bit red. “I did know it.”

“Oh, you had no idea,” Bittle says and though he’s laughing, Jack doesn’t feel mocked. “You can’t know everything about me that quick!”

Bittle is cute and small and compact and Jack feels that rush he feels when he’s been bested but by a team that deserves it.

“How much time?” he blurts. Bittle blinks at him. He flushes harder but continues anyway. “Would it take to know everything?”

“Well, I- I-” Bittle is a bit flustered now too. Jack can see his face getting red. It’s adorable. But, unlike Jack, he manages to collect himself rather quickly. “I think dinner would be as good a place to start as any.”

And so that’s where they start.

for valentine’s day, even shows up at isak’s place, wearing a white buttoned up shirt, a large bouquet of roses in one hand and a box of chocolate in the other. a red, heart-shaped, chocolate box. eskild’s the one opening the door for him, and when he does, he looks at him and exclaims “oh for fuck’s sake”, shaking his head. “do you have to rub it in our faces? like, have some consideration, even” and even can’t help but chuckle. he takes a rose from the bouquet and hands it to eskild. “happy valentine’s day, eskild” and eskild takes it and stares at it before he says “unbelievable” but all even can hear is the smile in his voice

and then even’s knocking on isak’s door, and opening it before he gets an answer. isak’s sitting on his bed, a textbook on his lap, and when he looks up and sees even, even and his proud smile and his raised eyebrows, his eyes widen a little. the thing is that even isn’t doing this seriously. he is a bit of a romantic. well, he’s a big, hopeless romantic. but he’s never given isak flowers and chocolate and it’s not a gesture he expects isak to be touched by. he sort of expects isak to look at him with an incredulous smile and he expects him to shake his head and he expects him to say something along the lines “are you for real, even?”, to which he’d reply “yup, totally”

but isak is sort of just. looking at him, biting the inside of his lower lip, and he’s not saying anything. and even can’t quite read his eyes, so he frowns, confused, and he goes to sit on his bed next to him, flowers and chocolate at their feet and he whispers “hey you”. he grabs isak’s hand and starts drawing circles with his thumb on his palm and he asks “what’s up?” and isak looks at him, and then he looks down, and then he opens his mouth and closes it again. and there’s a silence, even doesn’t know how long it lasts, he just keeps stroking isak’s palm. and then isak sighs, looks up, looks at him in the eyes and he says “i was thinking. earlier today, like, seeing these posts on facebook, i was thinking. i’ve never spent valentine’s day with”. isak swallows, sighs again. “i’ve never been with someone i wanted to be with you know? on valentine’s day last year, i got with sara and. that’s not what i wanted you know?” he shakes his head a little, lines on his forehead. “it’s not about valentine’s day, you know? it’s just -”

after a few seconds, isak doesn’t finish his sentence and even’s just wrapping an arm around his shoulders, pulling him close. he kisses the top of his head a couple of times, whispers “i know” against his hair. even never asked isak about his past relationships, always let isak come talk to him when he wanted to, when he needed to. and isak did, sometimes, like that time when they were watching a movie and he told even “i only like boys, you know? i mean, right now you’re the only boy i like, but in general i only like boys” and even smiled and kissed his temple and said “and there’s nothing wrong with that”

the side of isak’s face is against even’s shoulder and he inhales his scent, warm breath falling on even’s neck everytime he exhales and he says quietly “i’m just glad to have you” and he raises his chin up, and even kisses him once, replies “i’m glad to have you, too” and kisses him again, three, four times. they stay like this for a while, before isak reaches for the chocolate box. when he opens it, the first thing he notices is that there’s one missing, and he raises an eyebrow at even and even gives an innocent shrug and says “what? i was hungry”. and isak’s laughing this time, and when even sees the light in his eyes and the smile lines framing his mouth, when he hears isak sigh happily, he thinks that he can’t believe his luck, and that he’d go buy chocolate from all the stores in isak’s neighborhood if it meant he gets to keep seeing this exact look on his face

140.

(I am absolutely still fulfilling prompts, but I needed a moment’s break :D)

Clint Barton is freaking shameless when it comes to body heat. He will walk the streets mid-winter with his sleeves rolled up and his jacket most likely on his living room floor, but as soon as there’s a possibility of jamming his bare toes under someone’s leg, or shoving his cold hands into someone’s sweater pocket, or burying his cold face against someone’s shoulder, Clint is as pathetically needy as Lucky and possibly more so.

The other Avengers react different to the invasion of their personal space. For Natasha it’s never an issue, because his years of practice reading her unspoken signals means he never approaches unless he’s certain he’s welcome. It’s not an uncommon sight, though, to see her using him as a backrest, or to see him balled up as close to her as he can physically get. They tangle together with the ease of years, and she has always previously been his first choice.

Bruce - while he will not generally be sold on the touching - will rest his teacup on Clint’s thigh and let the warmth bleed through. It’s not much, but it’s more than anyone else generally gets.

Tony’s frankly up for anything so long as his hands are free. Clint will sometimes bury his face in Tony’s stomach, stretched out along the length of the couch, and stay there for hours at a time. Pepper’s understanding of his love of her angora and cashmere, and will let him drape his arm around her during the winter months.

(Happy Hogan never really joins them during Avengers time, but Clint secretly and platonically adores him - he is essentially the human embodiment of a hug.)

Steve’s kind of an odd one. Cap days, he’s rigid and authoritative and kinda hard to snuggle; Brooklyn days, which happen more and more often with Bucky’s presence in the tower, he’ll sprawl and lean and occasionally smack Clint with the back of his hand when he gestures. Sam’s the best, not for extended casual contact, but when it comes to long, firm, supportive hugs. Sam could legitimately get a smile out of a rock, but he’s kinda new around here, so Clint is careful not to use him up.

Thor? Thor’ll give Clint a hug and lift him off his feet and then possibly wrestle him to the floor, depending on his mood. Thor is amazing

So they maybe notice that Clint’s not invading their space so often, but they collectively don’t really think much of it when he’s pressed up against Bucky as often as he can be. Sure, Bucky’s prickly, but Clint is nothing if not persistent, so to see him draped over Bucky’s back, or sprawled across his lap with Bucky’s hand in his hair, or tucked in the corner of the couch with Bucky parked protectively in front of him, none of that’s particularly unusual.

It takes Tony, an elevator and a case of seriously unfortunate timing for them to get that it’s not really Bucky’s body heat that Clint’s after.

Soo-orry. I know, I have messages to respond and in general i’m pretty ghosty at the moment, but really, today I find the time to sit and draw only around midnight, so take your guess.

I’m going to respond (and if you send your message before some of the ones I already reply - well, or I want to draw something in the answer or in general I need more time to reply (there is a brush ask if I remember correctly, stuff like that)) just not very fast, idem for the chat.

And -ops? The blog is still holidayish?  Well. Uh. Red is … a cute color. Yup. Totally.
