today I made my mama’s chilli. also, is it chili or chilli? they both look weird to me at this point. this chilli is different from most you can buy either in a can or out at a restaurant(no beans) but i’ve been eating it growing up and it fits in the paleo way of eating so i thought i’d share the recipe. i asked my mother for a name and she decided on:

Momma Rose’s Chilli:

  • ground beef
  • ground turkey
  • package of onion soup
  • one onion
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • 1 large can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato paste
  • flavoring spices: hot sauce, chilli powder, cumin and garlic powder

Brown the meat then add into your crockpot. Add in all the other ingredients. My sister recommends you use around half a tablespoon to a tablespoon of the chilli powder and cumin, just a hint of garlic powder and about 5 dashes of hot sauce. You really can tailor the spices to how spicy or powerful you would like it. We also buy flavored diced tomatoes. Today we used garlic and sweet onion flavored. Once you’ve stirred all the ingredients together add about a cup or so of water. I usually fill up the crushed tomato can about ¾’s of the way. Cook in crockpot on high for 4 hours or on low for 8.

Put in a bowl. We add cheese or sour cream to ours. Tonight we’re trying out some paleo cornbread to accompany it.

This is my first recipe post attempt so I hope it makes sense. Also if i spelled chilli(chili) wrong the whole time then just choose to ignore it.

Excited for din din tonight to go with the cold weather.
Since some of you have asked I’ll post more recipes this week with the different paleo foods we try.

tonight we had spaghetti squash which is my absolute fave!

and for dessert we had paleo bacon chocolate chip cookies!! (you cant really TASTE the bacon but its there)

with most paleo desserts i can taste the distinct difference and i’m not always a fan. i think it may be the almond flour but these cookies ,which have almond flour, coconut oil and other things, taste soooo much like normal cookies. its awesome.

also, sidenote, i’ve gone back to paleo for two days and things are finally starting to feel like they are going back to normal. its nice to feel healthy.

i had a rough day(aka weeks) at work so i was unable to get myself motivated to work out. i’m hoping i push myself to go on that run i need so bad this week.

edit: and ps here’s the recipe we used:

my paleo dinner i made myself!

grilled porkchops, homemade sweet potatoe fries and brussell sprouts.

three of my favorites.

i was also a productive girl and made my lunch for tomorrow in case i decide to hit the snooze button too many times i wont have an excuse to not have something healthy to eat

now to just get my fitness on this week.

i think i’ll go for a nice run tomorrow!
