today I made my mama’s chilli. also, is it chili or chilli? they both look weird to me at this point. this chilli is different from most you can buy either in a can or out at a restaurant(no beans) but i’ve been eating it growing up and it fits in the paleo way of eating so i thought i’d share the recipe. i asked my mother for a name and she decided on:
Momma Rose’s Chilli:
package of onion soup
2 cans of diced tomatoes
1 large can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of tomato paste
flavoring spices: hot sauce, chilli powder, cumin and garlic powder
Brown the meat then add into your crockpot. Add in all the other ingredients. My sister recommends you use around half a tablespoon to a tablespoon of the chilli powder and cumin, just a hint of garlic powder and about 5 dashes of hot sauce. You really can tailor the spices to how spicy or powerful you would like it. We also buy flavored diced tomatoes. Today we used garlic and sweet onion flavored. Once you’ve stirred all the ingredients together add about a cup or so of water. I usually fill up the crushed tomato can about ¾’s of the way. Cook in crockpot on high for 4 hours or on low for 8.
Put in a bowl. We add cheese or sour cream to ours. Tonight we’re trying out some paleo cornbread to accompany it.
This is my first recipe post attempt so I hope it makes sense. Also if i spelled chilli(chili) wrong the whole time then just choose to ignore it.
