"Bad boy. I thought we talked about not doing this." Older Dom Hanzo with young sub Mccree

Hanzo had humored the young man out of his own self interests, and now he was glad he had.

The Deadlock boy had only been meant to serve as a mediator, a messenger between the Shimada clan and the Deadlock gang to work out a trade deal. Though sending a 19 year old with piercings down his ears and greasy shaggy hair in a cheap suit had done little more than prove to Hanzo the immaturity of the American Gang as a whole. Especially when the man started flirting with him from the get go, checking him out and saying thinly veiled innuendos that made the Shimada smirk. Still, he had humored them none the less, had hosted meetings with the young man and showed him around Hanamura, the normal routine the Yakuza Leader did with his higher clientele, and offered a room to stay in his manor for the time the mediation was taking place. He had seen the boy try to act level and unimpressed and fail miserably, clearly in awe of the power and influence that Hanzo held in his grasp. It was inciting, more than Hanzo had been expecting. The youthful ambition and wild attitude that the Deadlock messenger Jesse McCree brought was more arousing than he thought. And he could tell from the looks the by gave him that the feeling was mutual.

So when the young man had first requested his company in the middle of the night only his third day there, Hanzo knew exactly what to expect. So it was no surprise to him when thirty minutes later the man was on his knees between Hanzo’s legs, sloppily mouthing his cock while Hanzo finished up paper work and smoked his pipe. From then on it was routine, every time they were alone in the car, whenever Jesse had to call back to the states to give a status report, every night, the Deadlock gangster would fall into his arms trying to earn his praise and his skillful hands.

Jesse was absolutely hooked, hooked on the power and sexiness Hanzo had, how nonchalant he was about their affair, and how fucking GOOD he was. The skill with which he worked him when he was on the phone with his boss back in New Mexico, the way he fucked him then walked out like he didn’t matter, or answered the phone while he was balls deep in Jesse with a handful of his hair. It was too much for him to take, and drove him absolutely wild. He would shut him down all the time too, push him away when Jesse tried to start something. “Bad boy,” he would sneer, grabbing Jesse’s package roughly. “I thought we talked about not doing this,” before shoving him away and returning to his work.

McCree couldn’t get enough, was absolutely driven mad by the Shimada leader. And though Hanzo would never let him know, he was fond of the boy himself. Fond enough to call the Deadlock gang himself to say he agreed to their terms with one added stipulation: that they leave the cowboy in Hanamura.

Saturn is the Bitch teacher we hated growing up but as adults we’re thankful that they were such hard asses on us. Saturn tells us this: “I know you want [insert desire here] but you have to wait. You’ll appreciate it more then.” This is why positive Saturn placements are difficult. Benevolent planets, i.e sun, moon, and Venus soften Saturn’s effects. I have sun sextile Saturn and Saturn connected this way tells me to slow down in how I present myself, however my Saturn conjunct moon stifles my emotions. Recently I received an ask about someone asking I describe their venus square Saturn. Although Venus here does believe in a lasting love Saturn tells this native two primary lessons: One is that “Love Exists” and that it is attainable but to remain practical about it. Secondly, Saturn positioned in this way teaches that in order for that love to happen you have to love yourself first.

Saturn in the Signs and Houses

1.       Saturn in Aries/1st House

Aries Saturn/Saturn Risings tend to struggle with their ego and authority.

·         Marilyn Manson [Saturn fallen in the 9th House]

2.       Saturn in Taurus/2nd House

Taurus in Saturn tend to struggle with security, in this way they’re like Scorpios constantly trying to find solid footing in their lives. Saturn second houses may put too much emphasis on possessions and money. Their lesson is to learn that they have that security and that they can accept the good of the world. “If I can, can I find solid ground, or am I just wasting time?” (Solitary Ground by Epica.)

·         Uma Thurman [Saturn direct in the ninth house]

3.       Saturn in Gemini/3rd House

Gemini Saturn tend to have communication barriers. This placement is like having Mercury retrograde taken up to an eleven. These people may struggle with putting their foot in their mouths or not trusting their words as others would. Their lesson is to realize words have an effect on other whether for good or for ill.

·         Mick Jagger [Saturn direct in the Ascendant]

4.       Saturn in Cancer/IC (4th House)

An IC or Cancer Saturn are people who tend to struggle with their family dynamic – possibly their mother too. It’s these people who need to learn the selflessness of caring and not take their families and/or loved ones for granted.

·         Lemmy [Saturn retrograde and detriment in the seventh House]

5.       Saturn in Leo/5th House

Saturn in Leo or in the fifth house typically have very restrictive childhoods. While their friends were able to enjoy their growing up years; Leo Saturns may not feel like the have/deserve such a luxury. Their job is to learn how to have fun and reclaim their childhood. In a way they are like Saturn Capricorns which I will discuss later.

·         Gerard Way [Saturn retrograde in the third house]

6.       Saturn in Virgo/6th House

Saturn here is very health conscious however there’s a bit of hypocritical aspect to this placement. While they may be health obsessed and able to advise people on health and work matters; they may not heed their own advice. “I generally give myself good advice but I rarely ever follow it.” (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) These people can also become workaholics and not really know what to do with themselves when they aren’t working. (I can attest to this since I have Saturn here in the sixth house.) The lessons these people need to learn is to learn how to relax and care for themselves.

·         Heidi Paravianen [Saturn retrograde, possibly in the fifth House]

7.       Saturn in Libra/Dsc (7th House)

Since Saturn’s exalted in Libra it has more power than when it’s dignified in other signs. Libra is the judicial system, police force, as well as victim and criminal. Because of their ability to mediate this makes Libra perfect in Saturn; it gives the sign action to its character. Saturn in the descendant can slow down the process of romantic relationships but because the eighth house is After Marriage, said relationship has a greater chance of lasting long term. Libra Saturn’s lesson is learning how to compromise.

·         Amy Lee [Saturn exalted in the I.C]

8.       Saturn in Scorpio/8th House

Saturn here needs to learn to realize their control over life events. In some way the theme of sex or occult will come into play here. The native may struggle with sexual assault or rape, maybe an affair. Scorpio wants control no matter the planet but especially in Saturn; Scorpio need to learn that they cannot have that all the time.

·         Billy Idol [Saturn direct in the sixth house]

9.       Saturn in Sagittarius/9th House

Saturn here may struggle with their belief systems and higher education. They may attempt college several times throughout their life but find that said route is not for them – which is fine. Having Saturn in the ninth house the person needs to realize that all viewpoints are valid, that their own enlightenment will come later.

·         Sid Vicious [Saturn retrograde in the second house]

10.   Saturn in Capricorn/MC (10th House)

”Saturn naturally rules Capricorn and the MIdheaven (MC). People with Saturn here are very ambitious as well as conscientious about their reputations. These people may have had to grow up faster than their peers yet pull a Benjamin Button where they reclaim a youthful attitude later in life –typically middle and old age. “The death of your daughter would be a blessing.” (Pride and Prejudice) This line come to mind because the Bennets face ruin and destitution due to their youngest daughter’s actions. A Capricorn Saturn’s lesson is to let go of others’ perceptions of them and may face scandals and ruin to learn this.

·         Bono [Saturn retrograde in the twelfth house]

11.   Saturn in Aquarius/11th House

Saturn is dignified here meaning that there’s an added strength to this sign placement. Aquarius Saturn struggle with being a Loner and opening up with their feelings. In the eleventh house the native may struggle with friendships and humanitarian causes. Their lesson involves learning how to love their solitude and then they can blossom into the foreground of life.

·         Jon Bon Jovi [Saturn in the I.C. unaspected]

12.   Saturn in Pisces/12th House

Saturn here is very reflective and in order to learn their lesson the native must retreat inside themselves. Any planets here need extra rest but Saturn here, out of the primary planets, needs the most in my opinion. A Pisces Saturn tends to struggle with spirituality and escapism.

·         Rob Zombie [Saturn direct in the eighth house]

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Review

I present yet another review from @kubrickking! This time, she is reviewing Audrey Hepburn’s numerous films and comparing them to - you guessed it - Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I’ve watched 4 Audrey Hepburn films essentially all my life: Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Funny Face. I’ve since made my way through almost her entire filmography, but these were the four films my mother showed me at a young age and I would play continuously on the car ride home from school. Finish Roman Holiday on the way home Thursday afternoon, start it over again when we set off for school on Friday morning. I was still in elementary school when my mom bought me a nicely packaged DVD set of these four Audrey classics and they sit on my bookshelf to this day.

Although she has received accolades for almost all her work, Audrey became particularly known for her Oscar win on Roman Holiday and complex performance in Breakfast at Tiffany’s among several other films -

My Fair Lady, Two for the Road, Wait Until Dark

etc. - which I did not see until later on. Despite knowing all this now and having seen more of her work, one of her films that left a lasting impression in my childhood will always be

. A romance story, like all her Hollywood hits, the allure was hardly Humphrey Bogart. In fact, I do remember noticing the age discrepancy between them even as a child, probably stemming from an inevitable parallel of Linus with every boring, fun sucking adult I knew.

Still, something about the coming of age story and Audrey’s particular elegance in that film cemented it as my favorite. In retrospect, the costuming is most responsible for my attraction to the picture. Here, Hubert de Givenchy did his first and, dare I say, best work designing original pieces for his muse Audrey. The sleek suit, circular hat, and dangling earrings Sabrina wears at the train station caught not only the attention of David, but my young eye for fashion as well. She goes on to sport the most gorgeous black and white evening gown with two separate bottom skirts, a number of gorgeously tailored little black dresses, and boating shorts, a plaid top, and wedges which somehow manage to appear as practical as they are effortlessly elegant. Funny Face is similarly a showcase of glorious designer clothing, but without the ruse of being a fulfilling love story.

And, in truth, that is all the narrative of this film is: a ruse. Sabrina’s main, and only, conflict is that she is hopelessly in love with a man, David, who will always be more in love with himself and his wealth than any beautiful woman he takes advantage of. Her character arc consists solely of realizing that Linus, the older brother, rather than David offers the love and companionship she desires. That’s it. She is given no more or no less; a cardboard cutout of a woman, painted and traced by men. While Sabrina does become a successful cook and independent woman abroad in Paris, all of her characterization leads back to the simple goal of attaining David’s attention.

As a child, I never noticed an issue with this narrative. It simply adhered to the societal beliefs and treatment of women that saturates media to this day. However, especially as I learned more about Audrey Hepburn’s life outside of her films, I began to view this particular role as a sad failure in harnessing even a glimmer of the true compassion and determination of its portrayer. Interestingly, as I grew older Breakfast at Tiffany’s emerged as my new favorite from the group of four. As far as romance stories go, Tiffany’s is more a character study than anything. Audrey’s Holly Golightly is an icon of adulthood and childhood all at once. She is undeniably childish in her approach to dealing with adult problems and naive in relation to their surrounding realities. Still, this adolescence becomes a pure indicator of adulthood in and of itself; aka the reality that no one grows out of childhood flaws into an idealized adulthood. In fact, many of the professional aspects of adulthood appear drama free and efficient to a child until they grow up to work with people and on tasks that are just as resentful and senseless as the situations of their youth. Holly’s attitude, policies, and monikers all become indicative of that on a meta level.

This is where Breakfast at Tiffany’s succeeds and Sabrina fails. Holly is a complex, interesting character with more tangible and meaningful conflict and action than Sabrina. She is given subplots and background related to her brother in the Army, her unfulfilling life as a hick in the country, and her transformation into a city girl, which all ultimately reveal her to be the same self-seeking, misguided “phony” underneath. She may not be the most desirable character because of her flaws, but she is undeniably a three-dimensional, dynamic, and - despite Paul Varjack’s final monologue - an indefinable woman. Paul’s “sugar mama” is “a very stylish girl,” Paul himself is “the sensitive, bookish type,” Mag Wildwood is a “thumping bore,” Sally Tomato is “a darling old man,” but Holly cannot be reduced to the simple archetype of “wild thing” no matter how hard she tries. She is not anchored to the woes of the men in her life; in contrast, this dynamic is continually flipped on its head. Holly leaves a trail of pleading men behind her (the rats and super rats), having little interest in romance beyond the lifelong wealth it may eventually secure her. She pursues men with large fortunes and picks up extra cash as both a call-girl and delivering coded messages of a criminal nature to inmates in Sing Sing Prison. In truth, Holly doesn’t know what she wants from life, but neither do many of the women in my life. She’s a character that is allowed to be emotional, emotionless, intelligent, naive, right, wrong, promiscuous, and modest as all women are in reality.

Funny enough, both Sabrina and Holly are characters with misguided and unclear goals related to their future marriages. However, in relation to love, while Sabrina is refining her wants, Holly is denying her needs. Sabrina’s conflict then becomes a battle with the external options presented to her, while Holly’s proceeds as an intense internal battle over whether she even has options or choices at all. While Breakfast at Tiffany’s may still end on a romantic reunion, it is much less about the specific union of Paul and Holly than it is about Holly’s self-actualization and self-realization concerning her desires. The heart of her final scene lies in the rescue of Cat, a moment that forces her to accept that she does possess genuine love for and companionship with something beyond herself and for reasons other than money. This feeling only ripples onto Paul, as a result of Cat, in their final embrace.

Audrey has always brought depth and honesty to her on-screen roles in a way that transcends even the worst written female characters. However, if you’re looking for an arc and characterization that live up to the intelligent, compassionate, vivacious woman behind it, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of the only ways to go. Holly justifiably refuses that others put her in a cage, especially her male pursuers, as the patriarchal world and her experiences have hardened her. In the end though, Holly learns to recognize and allow love that makes her happy, as all women must.

Energy: Receptive

Planet: Moon

Element: Water

Deities: Diana, Selene, Isis, all lunar goddesses

Associated metal: Silver

Powers: Love, divination, psychism, sleep, gardening, protection, youth, dieting

Magical/ritual lore: The moonstone, a blue, white, or pink opalescent feldspar, it intimately connected with the Moon in magical lore. So much so, in fact, that many use it in accordance with the lunar phases. Some say it is more magically potent during the Waxing Moon and less so during the Waning Moon. Other, however, use this stone during the Moon’s apparent lessening for divinatory rituals.

Moonstone has long been dedicated to Moon Goddesses. Wiccan ritual jewelry if often fashioned of silver and moonstones. A lunar wand can be constructed of silver tubing topped with a large moonstone. It is used for magical ritual.

This stone is a receptive and love-drawing. Wear or carry a moonstone to bring a love into your life. On the night of the Full Moon and by its light, ring a pink candle with moonstone cabochons. Light the candle and visualize yourself in a loving relationship.

The moonstone is also prized for its ability to workout problems between lovers, especially those who have bitterly fought. Hold a moonstone, empower it with loving vibrations, and give it to your troubled mate. Best of all, share this ritual with him or her by exchanging stones.

Because of its associations with the Moon, the bringer of sleep, the stone is often placed beneath the pillow, or moonstone beads are worn to bed in order to ensure restful sleep.

Like malachite and jade, the moonstone is associated with gardening. Wear during planting, or watering, or bury a small moonstone while visualizing your garden bursting with fertility. To entice a tree into abundant fruiting, tie or attach a moonstone to one of the tree’s limbs.

The moonstone is also gently protective. Because the Moon seems to travel through the zodiac, its stone is a traveler’s protective charm. Carry or wear when away from home, especially during travel in or over the water. This is a perfect gift for vacational or vocational sailors and friends leaving on cruises. Empower the stone with protective energies before presenting it. Moonstone rings can be worn while swimming for protection in the water.

An old ritual to determine future events can be performed at least three days after the Full Moon. Hold a moonstone in your hands while visualizing a possible future course of action, such as selling a house or accepting a new job.

Then, place the moonstone beneath your tongue and continue visualizing. After a few moments, remove the stone and end your conscious effort to retain the image. If it remains or if your thoughts continue to revolve around the possible act, it is a favorable one. If your mind turns to other matters, it’s better to take a different route.

If in doubt perform this rite once again.

Moonstone beads or pendants are worn during divinatory acts and produce psychism in general. Psychics keep moonstones with their tarot cards or rune stones to heighten their ability to use such tools. A quartz crystal sphere is also encircled with a moonstone prior to scrying.

This stone is worn or used in rituals designed to renew or maintain a youthful appearance and attitude (which can be more convincing than outward looks).

More Evfra headcanons bc shush im obsessed

  • He’s a light sleeper. The quietest ping from his omnitool will wake him right up.
  • He’d enjoy chess, sudoku, and strategy based video games if introduced to them (not like he has time for that, anyway).
  • It’s impossible to sneak up on him. Someone could enter the room while his back is turned and he’ll know without ever turning around.
  • This one is kinda canon already but he loves debates. I’m sure he takes part in council meetings as much as possible.
  • Though all in game models are about the same, his height is a fair bit taller than average. He’s pretty well built too, though age has made it harder for him to stay in shape. Thus he keeps to a strict diet and exercise regimen, subtly ignoring the fact that he tires out much more easily than he used to. Occasionally he slips up and skips sessions to get enough sleep, or finish a few more reports, meaning he has to work twice as hard next time.
  • Growing up on Voeld meant little sunlight exposure. They had sun lamps, but they don’t provide the same sort of nourishment as the real thing. Angara from the planet, Evfra included, can get by with less sunlight than those from other homeworlds, meaning he doesn’t have to spend much time outside and risk falling behind in his work. The giant window in the control room definitely helps too.
  • All the bioelectric fields from Angara around him get on his nerves. Even after spending so long trying to detach himself from others, he’s still Angaran and has a strong sense of empathy. If someone nearby were upset, their static signals would push those feelings onto him. It’s proved to be distracting. He keeps his own field pulled in as much as possible. This isn’t exactly healthy, so he uses a lot of electric-based attacks in combat and training to let out that built up energy. Because of this firaans are his favorite weapon.
  • He mostly uses assault rifles out in the field, but his sniping is decent as well. His fighting style is pretty hands on, medium to close range and relying on strategy. Lots of dodging, clever use of surroundings, surprise attacks, etc. Rarely does he lose his cool or make a hasty move.
  • Unfortuantely (in his opinion) he doesn’t get to leave Aya very often. Leadership means a lot of giving orders rather than taking action. Plus he knows he shouldn’t endanger himself needlessly. It seems selfish, and he does feel a little complicated about it, but he prioritizes his own life over those of lower rank soldiers since so many look up to him as a symbol of the Resistance. One of his commanders could do the job just as well- and I’m sure he already has a successor picked out, maybe Anjik Do Xeel- but Evfra has a history and a reputation that gives the people hope.
  • His biggest weakness is a stubborn sense of pride. He can’t stand a situation getting out of his control, or when others make stupid decisions. I’m pretty sure Paraan (or the Moshae? can’t remember) even called him a control freak at one point.
  • He dislikes Ryder even more than his behavior lets on. Yes, he seems okay with them in game- if a bit cold and professional- but those moments where he gets snippy might be more than just sarcasm. He and most living Angara have spent their entire lives under the Archon’s thumb, struggling to survive and making sacrifices every day. Then along come these new aliens who invade their homelands and practically turn the war around, as if it were no trouble at all. Evfra especially would be angry, considering what he’s lost and how much effort he’s put into the fight. What has the Initiative lost? They know nothing of the impact this war has had on his people, and if they think he’s supposed to be grateful for their help they can forget it. The Pathfinder’s youth and casual attitude doesn’t improve this viewpoint, either. He wouldn’t feel as strongly as a Roekaar, seeing as he even denounces them in canon. It’s just a silent, unspoken grudge. Of course practicality would win out in the end, as he can’t be reasonably upset that the Kett are losing, but there’d still be that inkling of resentment.
  • However I do think a ship could be possible, under the right circumstances. A logical, professional Ryder might grow on him. The relationship would be built on mutual trust and respect for each other’s struggles. It wouldn’t be intentional either. More like they start talking, first about professional matters and eventually getting more and more personal. Evfra would try his best to remain distant but it’s hard when you find someone you click with (plus the guy’s gotta be lonely as hell, self-imposed or no).
  • It would take well over a year for him to develop romantic feelings for anyone. In my own personal headcanon he had a mate and kids. You don’t move past that sort of loss easily. He’d also be afraid to put the Resistance at risk. He can’t afford to be emotionally compromised should something happen to Ryder, or whoever else he’s with.
  • He’d be surprisingly affectionate, though not blatantly. Lots of small touches, unexpected gifts or favors, and rare slips where he accidentally speaks too freely. Not that Ryder minds it lol. But it would only happen in private, never publicly. Harsh as it sounds, he cant afford to ruin his image by showing favor towards one person, especially not a member of the Initiative. There are many Angara who would disapprove, and the last thing his people need are more reasons to fight each other. Likewise, Ryder could get into deep shit with Tann, who already gives them enough trouble without them giving him a reason for it.
  • They don’t get to see each other often. Its more of a long-distance thing, except for those rare occasions where Ryder lands on Aya for a few days. Even then they don’t really go out. Their ‘dates’ consist mostly of talking, napping together, or simply enjoying each other’s presence.
  • Evfra worries for Ryder’s safety every time they leave, and Ryder worries for Evfra’s mental wellbeing. He handles stress really well, all things considered, but he’s also repressing a lot of negative things rather than facing them. It’s necessary for the sake of the war, yet concerning for Ryder. Regardless, they share enough trust to let each other handle their own problems until one asks for help. Only problem is that both are usually too independent to do that.

I’ve got more but this list is already too long :v Feel free to add your own or argue these

Yennefer and Triss in the books

Some personal thoughts by Reddit user Kerok90

I’ve just finished reading the Witcher saga and I loved it so much. It’s been an amazing journey and one of the best stories I’ve ever read. On the other hand, I think I finally understood Yennefer’s and Triss’s personalities. I therefore would like to share my humble opinion on the ladies, however, I’d like to point out that’s not a Triss vs. Yennefer a.k.a. “best waifu” post. I like them both equally for different reasons.

To tell you the truth, I couldn’t stand Yen when Geralt met her for the first time in the short stories. Even though she was an interesting character I hated the way she acted also her arrogance and rudeness annoyed me. All in all, didn’t understand what Geralt saw in her, however, reading the books reshaped my opinion regarding her and now I can finally look under the cold surface of Yen and know there is more to her than meets the eye. Also, the most important thought that went through my head was that Geralt had always known these things about Yen. The witcher could see through her what’s more he loved and accepted her for who she was. In my opinion, Geralt was able to see her true self partly because they had a lot in common. Even though they seemed to be very different I think they saw themselves in each other (they were both social outcasts with abnormally long lifespan - actually two individuals who had never experienced real love). The way I see it, before Yennefer met Geralt she hadn’t had a man who really loved her therefore thought that all men are the same which is, of course, not true - she later realized it, though.

As for her attitude, Yen is a very complex character which means you can love her or hate her, but you cannot ignore her. She usually provokes an emotional reaction - be it a negative or positive emotion and I believe that’s what makes her character so believable. In the books she seemed to be cold-hearted and arrogant but if you dig a little deeper you will understand she was an emotionally damaged person who went through a lot of things and had never felt loved by anyone (before Geralt and Ciri). She wore this cold mask as a defense mechanism in order to protect herself from being hurt again. The problem was that she had been wearing that mask for decades and therefore needed time to take it off - not to mention she thought others couldn’t accept her. Although deep down inside she wanted to be loved and needed warmth - which could melt her heart. I guess there are only a few people in the books who really knew her true self (Geralt, Ciri, Triss and maybe her former mentor, Tissaia de Vries). Moreover, as I noticed she changed her behavior towards people she liked/loved and treated them with care. In those certain situations she even showed her fun side so the readers could realize she had a good sense of humor and actually wasn’t a real ice queen. I know another reason why some fans dislike her is because of her attitude. People shouldn’t forget that she was an introvert and introverts tend to be distant as they don’t want to reveal too much of themselves (again, this is a well-known defense mechanism). The other thing I find interesting is that Yennefer was, just like her favoruite colors - black and white, a paradox. She seemed to be cold and indifferent yet if you can read between the lines you know she was full of passion. Yen was a very passionate woman although she tried to hide it partly because that’s what she had been taught by her 500-year-old mentor, Tissaia de Vries. I think Yennefer needed both Geralt and Ciri to be able to open up and also to be able to show the readers her best qualities. If she hadn’t met them we wouldn’t have seen what lies beneath the surface. Among other things, we learned that she would have done anything for her loved-ones and was willing to sacrifice herself for them. I would say she was a sensitive, vulnerable person. Sensitivity manifests itself in myriad ways, though. Furthermore, while Yennefer was a brave, intelligent, powerful sorceress she was also kind-hearted, caring for her family and was a very honest person as well. I would call this “brutal honesty” which some people don’t like in real life, however, I have always liked this personality trait for some reason. Everyone is different, though. Anyway, many people misunderstand her (I did too before reading the books) but I think we should never judge a book by its cover. On the contrary, we should try to dig a little deeper to understand the real reasons. I know that Yennefer cannot be everyone’s favourite and by the way she doesn’t have to be. I’m just saying try to see the whole picture since it could help you to understand an amazingly well-written character better. :)

I think it’s not surprising that I quickly gained a liking to her in Blood of Elves. In my point of view she was unique among the sorceresses with her friendly, cheerful, youthful attitude. Somehow she lacked bitterness and grudge which was a refreshing change. Also Triss was very kind to Ciri which showed me she was a nice person. I liked her deep conversations with the witchers as well and having read them I realized she was so much more than a cheerful young sorceress. Even though Triss looked very young, early 20-ish, I guess she was between 40-60 and had more life experience, more depth than people would think. She striked me as a woman who seemed to be very cheerful but under the surface she wasn’t so happy and needed love. When I read her internal monologue about Geralt I thought that she had never experienced this before and that’s why she became jealous of the relationship Geralt and Yen had. I believe she never wanted to hurt Yennefer just simply wanted to experience that “thing” with Geralt to understand what Yen saw in him. Don’t get me wrong sleeping with one of her friends’ ex boyfriend wasn’t the nicest thing to do, however, she paid a great price for it: she fell in love with the witcher and had to deal with an inner conflict. Personally I felt sorry for her because she finally found a man who wasn’t like the others she had met before - this man friendzoned her, though. I always wanted Triss to find someone else who would have made her happy.

Another thing is that Triss also needed Yennefer, Geralt and Ciri to show her best qualities and to be able to grow as a person. She loved them and one way or another these people really changed her. By the way, I found it interesting that even though Triss and Yen were friends their personalities were so different (introvert/extrovert; older/younger; distant/friendly; confident/insecure etc). Some people say this character was too flat/one dimensional in the books I disagree with them, though. Actually we don’t know lot of things about her as Sapkowski just gave us little details regarding Triss which were like little puzzle pieces. We have to collect these pieces to see the bigger picture. To be honest, I’ve been wondering about her personality because a few fans told me Triss was shy in the books since she even blushed when Geralt kissed her on the cheek at Thanedd Island. Even though she indeed blushed I personally don’t think she was this shy little girl. On the contrary, she had feminine pride and confidence as she knew what she wanted when it was about flirting. I think she was flirtatious and was even a bit sly (it was implied in the books). The thing is the readers could only see her inner conflict and behavior towards Geralt because when we met her for the first time in BoE she had already been in love with him so it might have seemed like she was a shy woman. But in my opinion she only felt shy around Geralt. Some people dislike her because she chose the greater good. While I get their point to a certain level I think Triss was just trying to do the right things. She was an idealistic and politically driven since she believed the Lodge could change the world for the better. She wasn’t a power-hungry sorceress she was just a woman who wasn’t confident enough to choose a side. Even Geralt told her in Blood of Elves that such double loyalty was devilishly difficult to manage. Geralt knew it was impossible to manage and he was right. Even though it’s true that (initially) Triss wasn’t confident and brave enough also didn’t have the courage to say “NO” we shoudn’t forget she was a young sorceress who had just started her journey. The way I see it, she needed to learn from her mistakes also these mistakes had helped her to mature and became Fearless Triss Merigold (who read the books know what I am talking about). Actually Triss’s story was all about her beautiful metamorphosis. Personally I wasn’t mad at her partly because I valued that she realized her own flaws and because it was clear to me that she was (just like Yennefer) a good person. She was a good person who was initially insecure and had to deal with her internal conflicts/inner demons. To me that’s what made her believable and it totally felt like I was reading about a real person. Her metamorphosis was beautifully-written and I loved her so much at the end of the last book. All in all, I love these ladies for who they are. Thanks for reading and I’m sorry for my poor grammar.

“Quan Zhi Gao Shou” Voice Actors Interview: Bao Mu (Han Wenqing), Xia Lei (Yu Wenzhou), San Mu (Sun Xiang)

  • I only translated the questions and answers from the audio, and have skipped some of the interviewer’s comments (there weren’t a lot of those anyway). At the end of the interview, the three VAs performed short skits portraying the opposite personalities from the characters they voiced.
  •  Han Wenqing (Gentle) | Yu Wenzhou (Yandere) | Sun Xiang (Tsundere)
  • The audio link of this interview will be in the reblog!

Q = Interviewer
BM: Bao Mu (Han Wenqing’s VA)
XL: Xia Lei (Yu Wenzhou’s VA)
SM: San Mu (Sun Xiang’s VA)

Q:As the voice actors for these three characters, how do you see your own character?

BM: At the start of the recording, they told me that [Wenqing’s] character is especially interesting; the moment he starts to speak, everyone just feels like they have to hand over their wallets to him. I feel that, due to his upright and frank personality, and he’s very opinionated, plus the fact that he’s such a powerful and skilled individual — all of that genuine self-confidence contributes to that kind of tone when he speaks. That’s not to say he’s a person who rejects others and keeps them at a distance. But the kind of attitude that he exudes makes people feel the urge to hand over their wallets to him.

XL: Yu Wenzhou is an especially calm person, and during our initial discussion about the character, the word most used to describe him is “gentle,” or that he’s a “nuan nan” (lit. “warm man”; internet slang for a man that exudes warmth and kindness). In the end, his state of mind constantly remains calm and collected. Even though his hand speed is not as fast as the other contestants’ in the professional league, he really knows how to fully utilize his own strength — his strength in his temperament. So he’s able to maximize his tactical value; in a team match, his function is even more obvious. As for voicing the character itself, I especially want to display his calm and confident attitude.

SM: From the first glance, you’d think, “Is he actually a villain?” But when you watch until the very end, you’d feel that he’s the kind of person with a youthful attitude. Even more of a coincidence is that he and I are both Sagittarius. So there are times when I feel the same way and somewhat understand this character’s thoughts. I think he’s the kind of person that would work very, very hard when it comes to things that he enjoys — just as I do. He might be a bit of a tsundere, but he has that shounen and hot-blooded mindset; it’s quite adorable.

What the Mercs would be like as Parents

I got this idea from paperfrays about what the Mercs would be like as parents, and I thought it would be fun to give it a try! Also, I want to thank you guys for being so patient with how slow I’m responding to asks right now, I’m trying to get to as many as I can right now, since I’m sick and I have some free time! Well, hope you enjoy!

Scout is the dad who thinks he the “cool dad”. He’s not. But he’s the dad everyone loves, anyway, because he lets them have parties at their house, or he jokes around, and has an overall youthful attitude that makes him seem more like their older brother than their dad sometimes.

Soldier is that dad who’s totally off his rocker and makes no sense, but everyone loves him anyway. He’s a strict parent and he expects his children to be up at a certain time and have all their chore done, but even so, he’s a fun dad. Especially around fourth of July.

Pyro is the most ENFP parent ever. Everything is about making sure their child is happy, cared-for, and a little bit spoiled. They love kids and they love everything that goes along with kids, so they’re a surprisingly good parent.

Demoman is slightly overprotective as a dad, but he’s sensible and he’s willing to listen to what his kids might say against his rules. He’s the dad that will blow stuff up in the backyard, and just not even care. He’s also the dad that has a collection of swords and battle axes in the basement. He’s the cool dad Scout wants to be, basically.

Heavy is the most adorable, overprotective, caring parent ever. There’s nothing more important to him than making sure his child is safe and knows they’re loved. Every single part of him is just made up of love and paternal feelings for that kid and he’ll do anything for them in a heartbeat.(Think Cryaotic.)

Engineer knows what it feels like to have a father that ignores you in favor of work, and so he goes out of his way to give his child as much attention as possible. He’s always helping them build robots, or sketch our their dreams, and eventually take over the world, if that’s what they decide to do. Basically the way you seem him take care of his sentries, is the way he takes care of his kids. He’s also a good dad because he lets his kids spend as much time on the computer as they want.

Medic is an interesting dad. One day, he might leave his child alone the entire day to do experiments or God-knows-what in his lab, and the next day, he’ll spend the entirety of it fawning over his child. He’s not cut out to be the primary care-giver of a child, but he sure loves them, that’s never in question.

Sniper tries to act like a cranky dad, but he’s not. He’s very open about his parenting, and basically lets his children do whatever they want, as long as they don’t hurt themselves. His main focus is making sure his kids always know that he’s proud of them no matter what they do.

Spy would most likely have to leave his child if he had one, and it would kill him inside. He cares more about them than himself, and so he has to keep them safe and away from all of his enemies, but that means being away from them. However, if he managed to find a way out of espionage, he would be the best dad ever, rivaled only by Heavy. /he didn’t have a childhood to speak of, so he’d put his heart and sould into making sure his kid had the most amazing childhood anyone had ever heard of.

HSJ as Courtesans (AU)

( Note: May seem a little random, I know. But, I LOVE otome games and I remembered this mobile game I sometimes play; D3 Publisher’s Gyakuten Yoshiwara. It’s a game where the player visits one of several male courtesans nearly every night and she ends up falling in love with the one she picks – now, she has to buy his freedom or the courtesan must pay off his own debt in order for them to get married. Anyway, enjoy the headcanons! – Mod L )

The number one ranking courtesan the red light district has to offer. Due to his extreme popularity, he’s a terribly hard courtesan to schedule and his price is the highest they come for just one night. He takes it all in stride, however, never complaining even once about his line of work or the clients. In first impressions, he’s more than cordial, respectful, and even somewhat shy – although, to the people that he’s comfortable with, he’s known to have a sailor’s mouth and be bullishly dominating. Even to his close friends.

Voluntarily became a courtesan in order to support his large family, and many speak of the wonders that Ryosuke has bought for them. A house in the mainland, comfortable living, all on top of the debt that many believe he’s close to paying off any day now. As a result, the district manager has him training new hires to someday pick his successor.

The second most popular courtesan in the district, although that popularity noticeably wained after a recent scandal; in which others thought he planned to run away with a married, much older, woman. He adamantly denies the accusations, although admits that he did see the woman outside of the district. Still, he hopes to gain back double what he lost and once again become a suitable rival for Ryosuke. Ever happy and smiling, that smile won’t be wiped off with false rumors.

His family sold him off to the district in order to become debt free – placing a new debt on Yuto’s shoulders instead. He came in the same time as Ryosuke and has become what many would call a jack of all trades. Word has it that his always smiling face hides someone completely opposite of what he shows himself to be.

Hubris is a word that polytheists on here like to throw around and unsurprisingly, it’s another term that people really don’t seem to know what it means or how it was used historically. So for those who are historical research-inclined like myself, I decided to go investigate after my friend read me a quote that indicated that the historical usage of “hubris” was very different from how it’s conceived of now:

Although there is a widespread impression that hybris is primarily a religious term (denoting the pride which makes a mortal forget his place in the order of things), the word is most often used of dealings between human beings. It generally describes behaviour which is uncontrolled and which presupposes a desire to humiliate or at least a contempt for the rights and prestige of others. - Trials From Classical Greece by Christopher Carey (pg 94)

Intrigued, I went further and searched an online database of books my college has access to and notably almost every single book that mentioned hubris referred to it as types of actions between humans, not humans and the divine. And even the few times it did refer to situations between mortals and gods, the interactions were far from the usual petty slights that people shout hubris over on here. And since I have too much time on my hands, I decided to compile the information, so here’s what I’ve found.

The Start of Something

This is an attempt on a Yuri !!! On Ice fanfiction with the pairing of Viktor x Yuuri.
I do hope it’s acceptable since I’m still new to this.
As you already know, Yuri !!! On Ice belongs to the MAPPA studio and, unfortunately, not me.

After much doubting and imagining every possible answer, Yuuri Katsuki decides to confess his feelings to his coach Viktor Nikiforov, the famous Russian skater who could be with anyone else besides him.
Perhaps, falling in love with Viktor wasn’t the best idea.

“So, you fell in love with the old man?” the young blond looked at him with a mixture of disappointment and disgust.

“I couldn’t avoid it Yurio, he is so attentive and affectionate, honestly sometimes I don’t even deserve him. Thanks to him, I realized how important skating is to me.” the older one sighed as he took off his skates after a long day of practice with the young Russian, who, even if he didn’t admit it, was already getting along with Katsuki.

“Yes, yes, whatever you say, but why are you telling me this?”

“I’m thinking of telling him.”

“Your point is?” the blond seemed already bored with the subject.

“I want you to stop me! Tell me that I’m an idiot and that someone like Viktor would never be with someone like me!” Yuuri stood up and looked at the floor embarrassed.

The young Yuri sighed.

“I will not do that katsudon; if you want to tell the dinosaur you like him, that’s your decision, also, if the idiot is not in love with you too, it’s a miracle.”

“I could guarantee it. In Russia, you are his favorite subject, ‘Is Yuuri practicing?’ ‘I wonder how Yuuri is doing?’ ‘What if I call him?’ everyone has started to notice, it is really disgusting.” Plisetsky begins to close his bag.

“You know, he only does it because he cares a lot, he would do the same for you, I assure it.” Yuuri sat down on a bench.

The blond looked at him with an expression of pity.

“No. He would not. He’s always cared about you, you know. Yuuri-”

He called him by his name, something that almost never happened, and immediately Katsuki lent his full attention.

“I am telling you as a fri- as your best rival, tell him. I just know he likes you. The worst thing that could happen is that he tells you he doesn’t feel the same way. It will hurt, but you will overcome it; besides that, Viktor is old and I sincerely do not know what you see in him.” the blond stood up and attempted a smile towards the dark-haired man.

“You know, Viktor is not old, he’s only 28. Well, now that I think about it, for you he is old since you’re 16… ah, I just asked a kid for advice and I’m supposed to be the adult.” Yuuri smiled at him a bit worriedly; at the age of 24 he too was much older than Plisetsky.

“Kid?! Last time I give you advice on anything katsudon! I am way more mature than you! You can SUCK IT! THIS IS WHY I ONLY TALK TO OTA-”

“And here I thought you two were getting along better.” both Yuri’s looked at the entrance of the lockers and noticed a smiling Viktor.

“You have to learn to get along! even if it’s just for the public; it would not look good if my two prodigies hated each other.”

Yuuri’s heart stopped for a second. If Viktor had entered earlier, he would have been able to hear everything, and there would be no way of avoiding it.

“Whatever, honestly both of you can suck it.” the blond began to walk towards the door, but not before looking at Yuuri.

“Good luck Katsuki.” and so with this he left, closing the door behind him.

“Ahhh, and that?” a curious Viktor approached the dark-haired man, causing him to get up from his comfortable seat.

“N-Nothing.” Yuuri cursed his nerves for always betraying him. He was an emotional disaster, a very valid reason for him not to confess his feelings to Viktor right now.

“Yuuuuuuri, don’t be like that.” the silver-haired man always said his name so sweetly when he least wanted him to.

“He only wished me luck in my practices, since I was a little nervous for this year.” what Yuuri said was not a lie; He truly was nervous for this year.

He wanted to find new ways to fascinate Viktor. He wanted him to be proud of him, to look at him again like he looked at him in the Grand Prix, to stare at him like he starred when he put the ring on his finger, to do to him again what he did in the Cup of China.

“Ah, maybe he is trying to get along with you then, what a surprise!” Viktor chuckled a little, and Yuuri felt his heart stop again. Katsuki never understood how Nikiforov managed to have such a fresh and youthful attitude; every time he was near the man he felt as the years fell off him.

He had to tell him. He had to do it.

“Yuuri, I told you not to get so nervous, their just practices, I know you’ll be wonderful when the time comes.” the Russian placed a hand on his cheek and smiled.

His blue-green eyes gleamed against the younger’s brown eyes. Yuuri took a second (or perhaps several) to study the face with which he wished to wake up to every day. How his hair fell perfectly around his face, his eyes that looked like an ocean after a storm, his long, thin eyelashes, the small circles under his eyes, which, if you informed the Russian about, he would make you regret it, his delicate nose without wrinkles, and finally, his lips that looked as soft as silk.

Those lips would make him crazy.

“Yuuri?” Viktor looked at him a little worried. Although it was normal for the young man to be nervous even in practices, it was not normal for him not to talk for so long.

“Viktor.” was the only thing Yuuri could say. Slowly, he placed his hands on the older one’s face, feeling his delicate skin under his fingers.

“Y-Yuuri?” did he just make him nervous? for some reason Katsuki could not explain, that made him feel good. Knowing that someone like Nikiforov could get so nervous by just a touch, made him feel wonderful.

Yuuri felt his face warm up and could feel how the Russian’s did the same through his fingers.

Viktor.” sighed the young man. Slowly, and trembling a little, he brought Viktor’s face toward his and kissed him.

What Yuuri felt was beyond feeling good or wonderful, he felt something other worldly.

After a couple of seconds, he realized what he was doing.

He was kissing Viktor Nikiforov.

He was kissing Viktor Nikiforov.

Oh no.

Yuuri truly realized his action and, though it cost him, quickly stopped and distanced himself from his coach.

“Wow.” a blushing Viktor touched his lips.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Yuuri became hysterical. After planning in various ways how to admit his feelings to the Russian, he had just sent everything to the trash with a simple, yet amazing, kiss.

He looked at Viktor who only looked surprised. Was that all he had to do to surprise the great Nikiforov? The young man could not help smiling a little, his blush probably more present than before.

At that moment, Katsuki got carried away by his feelings.

“I am in love with you Viktor. I’ve admired you since I was a child, but when I met you, and saw how you really are, I fell in love with you. I fell in love when I knew that you accepted to be my coach even though I embarrassed you at the banquet, I fell in love with your patience towards me, the way you handled my nervous breakdowns even if you did not always know how to, with how you always found positive things about my routines, with your jokes, your laughter, the stories about your days as a young man in the world of skating, how you are always happy although I know very well that that is not the case, the way you look in the mornings, how you look now… I fell in love with you completely.” Yuuri could not help but smile. He had said only some of the reasons why he loved Viktor, but he knew that they were enough to make his feelings clear.

In that moment Yuuri realized his mistake.

How could someone as simple as him have dared confess his feelings to someone as wonderful as Viktor?

His smile quickly faded. He was an idiot, a real idiot. Nothing he said now would excuse what he had just done. He felt his eyes beginning to water.

“D-Don’t say anything.” Yuuri sighed. He would not cry in front of Viktor. He had to take this with dignity.

“Forget what I just said, okay? I know you don’t feel the same way about me and that’s fine. Please, just pretend that I didn’t say anything, and with time all of this will go away; I promise not to touch you again or look at you weird. I admire you and I know I crossed the line and I’m sorry. Please, I’m asking you to forget everything and for us be the same as always, please.” Yuuri’s and Viktor’s eyes met. Viktor looked at him exactly as he had in the hotel that night before the Grand Prix finale.

As this would be the second time Katsuki saw him this way, he still didn’t know how to describe the expression.

Viktor sighed deeply. Yuuri froze, hoping the older man was not angry, since he could not lose him.

He was the best thing that had happened to him.

“Tell me Yuuri Katsuki, have you always been so selfish? Do you only think of your feelings?” the Russian looked angry, but his words came out cold.

Of all the answers that Yuuri could have imagined, this one never entered his mind. He was probably disgusted by him and his foolish statement; he bet Viktor would never look at him the same.

“V-Viktor, I am so so-”

“Don’t. It is my turn to speak now.” the Russian ran a hand through his hair.

“You make me mad, you know that Yuuri? You make me angry.”

Katsuki felt his heart break; Nikiforov continued.

“I came to Japan to train you, I was with you for months, we shared intimate moments that I would not share with just anyone, I was always honest, I gave you my trust, you gave me this ring as a promise that we would always be together, you made me proud, I come to Japan to visit you whenever I can, and now you give me this?”

Yuuri could not stop a tear from escaping. Viktor looked furious and offended; he had destroyed their relationship forever.

“Yuuri Katsuki.” the Russian approached the young man until they were face to face. Yuuri had to hold back all the tears that wanted to come out of him.

The older man stared at Katsuki’s face.

“If you believe, for a second, that I am not in love with you, you do not know how wrong you are.”

“What?” the young man was confused. Did he hear him well, or was he already imagining things?

Viktor took Yuuri by his hips and pulled him closer.

“I love you Yuuri Katsuki. I love how you’re always willing to try something new, how you overcome every obstacle in your way, how nervous you get every time I compliment you, how you always tell me what’s wrong with you, the sweet and kind way you treat me, your laughter, your eyes, your hair, your face, your lips.” Viktor paused as he admired Yuuri’s face and bit his own lips. Yuuri blushed, unable to believe a single word coming out of the Russian’s mouth.

“I just love you, Katsuki. So please, do not doubt it, and never assume what I feel.” Nikiforov delicately placed a hand on the young man’s face, wiping away one of the tears that escaped him.

“Do you understand?” Viktor brought his face closer and closer to Yuuri’s.

“Y-Yes. I love you Viktor.”

“I know.” the older man finally closed the distance between them and kissed the younger man softly. Yuuri just put his arms on his beloved’s shoulders and pulled him closer.

Knowing that his feelings were accepted and reciprocated made this kiss the best.

Viktor distanced himself a little and grinned at Yuuri.

“See? Yurio was right, it wasn’t that bad.”

“Wait, you knew? Did you hear us?!”

“These walls are too thin for those kind of subjects Yuuuuuuri.” Viktor put a finger over his beloved’s mouth and winked.

Yuuri just blushed and smiled. Of course, after weeks of planning how to admit his feelings to his coach, he simply knew about them and chose not to say anything.

“Of course.” Yuuri murmured and pulled Viktor toward him, giving him another kiss as he smiled.

Viktor Nikiforov loved him. This was a moment that deserved to be celebrated for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the door.

Yuri could not help but get a little mad as he made the call.

“Phichit, you won. Katsuki admitted it first.”

“Ugh, yes, I know; it’s just that I seriously thought that Viktor would do it first.”

“Don’t worry, you’re not the only one who lost. Ah, I have to call JJ-”

“Only one? With how many people do you make these bets?”

“You’d be surprised… hey, how’s Otabek?”

“Oh, he’s been doing well from what he told me. I think he’ll be coming to Russia next- WAIT. WHY DO YOU CARE?! WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME?! WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING?!”

Katara is a mature teenager I don't think she'd be interested in an immature 12 year old kid... no teenage girl that age is interested in a kid that young tbh lol, that's something these people don't realize like realistically this doesn't make sense either girls that age are interested in boys their age or older, they're not looking for kiddos to be the man of their dreams lol, Katara has a type Jet, Haru and ZUKO lol not Aang...

Well, I mean, Katara could’ve actually benefited, a lot, from a relationship with someone with Aang’s youthful spirit, carefree attitude, and enthusiasm.

It could’ve worked, had they waited a few years, and had Aang developed self-sufficiency, independence, and stopped dealing with all of his problems by running away, or, you know, getting hit in the back by An Enlightening Rock™.

Buuuut, that’s not what happened in canon, soo…

(Also, I actually don’t think Jet, Haru and Zuko have all that much in common, when you look at them beyond the shared trauma.)

(Also, also, from what I’ve seen, most Katara and Aang shippers, those who are okay with canon at least, are men, so misogyny, entitlement, and Nice Guy™ Syndrome play a part, too.)
