Inside my apartment - Jen Spence

Other than my big love for trainers, clothes and bikes I have a massive adoration for architecture and interior design. When i made the move back to Leeds this year i managed to finally get myself approved for a lease on one of my favourite developments with Urban Splash, the company specialise in developing beautiful new modern spaces from old, worn or abandoned buildings. You can view all developments here.

I absolutely love collecting and decorating my home, so I thought i’d grab a few snaps from the living area to show you all some of my favourite pieces!

As you can probably tell i am a big fan of Piet Parra and i have various pieces from his Rockwell releases and also Kidrobot and Enjoi Skateboards. I have a slight obsession with framing things, so i have illustrations by the incredibly talented Sy Illustrations, along with Billionaire Boys Club swing tags from an ‘09 release and also an exhibition poster for Parra’s solo show at Ruttkowski68!

One of my favourite pieces is my Bape 20th Anniversary scarf, which was given to me while i was interning at A Number Of Names along with a Japanese magazine. I like to keep my favourite trainers displayed on the bookshelf i have a pair of OG Huarache Le 'Scream Green’, Air Max 95 'Valentines Day’, Patta x Nike Denim Cord and also my New Balance 574 Custom made in the USA and designed by me!

Let us know what some of your favourite collectables are #theunisexmode!

Things are changing

Everything is slowly but rapidly starting to change from my height, to my friends, to getting a job, to doing things and travelling places on my own to being more happy with who I am and what I am doing. People are leaving and new people are coming into my life. I enjoy meeting fresh faces and new personalities. It makes me incredibly happy that people want to get to know me better. I’ve always been a type of person who has a hard time letting things go and holding on for too long. I’ve had 6 really good friends who have stayed in my life for the past 12 years. Through absolutely everything, they have been with me through every special moment and they have made my childhood so special, from starting our first day of pre - school to our first dance class. Yes we haven’t always gotten along and we don’t talk to each for a little while. But at the end of the day when we do talk and hang out it’s the most happy, memorable moments ever. I have never realised how truly greatful I am of knowing I have these people in my life. Anyone can come into your life and tell you how much they love you but it takes someone really special to stay in your life and show how much they love you. Let go of the negative people in your life, you don’t need that. As much as it will hurt, it is best for you in the long run. Your hurt is only temporary and you will find yourself happier than before. If you’re feeling frightened about what comes next, don’t be. Embrace the uncertainty. Allow it to lead you places. Be brave as it challenges you to excerise both your heart and your mind as you create your own path towards happiness. Enjoy the present, each moment as it comes, because I’ve learnt you will never get a moment quite like it again. And I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again. Because even through all the tough times and struggles there are good moments in life and these are the things that will be cherished forever.
