rickmorty fic rec list

hey! here it is! that fic rec list i said i was gonna do for 200 followers, and yet here i am…at 473 followers HAHAHAHA just a liiitle late there – seriously tho, thank you all! this is such a chill and supportive community~

just a couple notes on the list: i decided to narrow it down to 30, which made things more difficult than i expected(there’s just soo many good ones, guys!); i didn’t want to include more than two fics from a single writer; i included series, but only if the stories were interconnected; for a couple of the series that didn’t have overall summaries i just used the summary from the first fic in the series, and one fic didn’t have a description at all, so i ended up using the first sentence, since it seemed to fit; these are in completely random order.

some of these are obvious picks (basically classics), but hopefully you’ll find something new or interesting! i absolutely love every one of these! thank you to all the writers for being so amazing, and bringing me so much joy (and tears) with these fics!!

Fethishizing the Extraordinary by berlitzschen

In a panel, Justin Roiland said that Beth “fetishizes the extraordinary” and said something else to the effect that Beth wants Morty to be extraordinary like her father, and values it above anything else. This, coupled with wives commonly responding with tolerance and forgiveness when they find out their spouses molested their child, made me think Beth might not actually throw Rick out if she were to discover them.

So here’s a fic about all the fucked up shit that implies, undercutting an otherwise fairly senseless story about Rick and Morty’s relationship.

“You d-don’t have a clue w-what love is, Morty,” Rick tells him. “You’re not c-capable of loving anything b-besides yourself and, and your c-creepy little stuffed animals.”
There’s something about the way Rick says this, something hollow and dead that tells him Rick isn’t lying or trying to get back at him for lashing out. The wild anger has dissipated. And if Rick isn’t saying this because he’s mad at Morty…
…Then he’s saying it because he really believes it.

Morty shifted nervously, unable to meet the eyes of the man who looked so much like his grandfather, “W-what can I-I-I get for $85?” Morty pulled a wad of crumpled bills from his jeans, trembling from the adrenaline of what he was asking.

A tell-tale grin curved the blue haired man’s lips into a predatory smirk before he leaned down, smoothly pocketing the bills, his breath tickling the shell of Morty’s ear, “48 minutes of whatever the fuck you want.”

As much of an asshole as Rick was, as manipulative and cruel and downright hurtful as the man could be, especially to him, Rick wasn’t a rapist, and he never had been. If Morty said stop, if he told Rick to stop touching him and to get off, he knew his grandpa would listen. He knew Rick would walk away from him. And that’s precisely why he’d never say it. No matter how much it hurt, no matter how badly Morty wanted to shove him away and tell Rick to fuck off, he couldn’t. Because if he did, the older man would listen, and that’d be the end.

bee-wrecker  asked:

Okay, my heart burst from your latest update with love! You're amazing!!! I have a question, how do you think the aliens would behave if for some reason a human child were to be aboard?

I’m so sorry this took so long!

I’ve rewritten this passage like, fifteen times. I swear, nothing seems good to me.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!

Human Josephine Lloyd was five earth years older than her younger brother, Human Fredrick. Human Fredrick mentioned she was one of three siblings he had, and many of the crew began to question him on his family. He simply told him that he had an older brother named Vladimir and a twin named Maximillian. Not many of the crew knew what a twin was, but they never asked.

Xylion was currently awaiting for Human Josephine to come on board the ship. Human Fredrick had invited her on to see the ship. He was told she was somewhat similar to Human Fredrick in looks, but other than that, he knew next to nothing about her.

Xylion of course knew what it was like to have brothers, but a sister? The only female in his family was his mother, but she was hardly around, so she didn’t count.

Captain Zellnor shared how he was the only boy in his family. His father had passed when he was young, so he was left to grow up with his seven sisters and mother.

Sil’keen, the young chef, mentioned that she had sisters and brothers. She said she often took care of her many younger siblings.

Datallion said he was not fortunate enough to have siblings, though everyone simply laughed at him when he said this.

Human Mason never mentioned any family, and Xylion was too nervous to ask him.

Human Isaac said he had two older brothers, but then quickly corrected himself to having a sister and one brother.

Human Jenny said she had an older sister, and a younger brother who was eight earth years younger than her.

Human Quinn mentioned how she had three older sisters and two younger brothers. Human Isaac jokingly asked his girlfriend was part of the LDS community, which she simply rolled her eyes and told him that she wasn’t, but was Christian. Xylion chose not to question them.

They were still discussing their family life when they heard a loud cry from somewhere. Everyone stopped talking to listen for any other noise. Before anyone could ask what had just happened, the sound of something running was heard, and then Xylion felt something grab onto his legs, rooting him in place. All he could do was cry out, fear chilling him to the bone. And, of course, he began to secrete mucus.

Before Xylion could begin attacking whatever was holding onto him, he saw Human Fredrick out of the corner of his eye. He bent down and began to scold what was holding onto him.

“Justin, how many times do I have to tell you not to run off from me or your mother? Especially on an alien ship?” His voice was stern, yet somewhat calm at the same time.

Xylion felt the grip release from around him. “But Uncle Freddie…”

Xylion looked for the thing that attacked him, but couldn’t see anything. That is, until he looked down. Standing there was a miniature human. They had the same light hair that he did, except their eyes were similar to Human Jenny’s. They reminded Xylion of his own coloring, actually.

The tiny human looked sad as he sat there, tracing the edge of his shoe all over the ground. Human Fredrick shook his head as he reached forward and picked up the small human. Human Fredrick looked to see the astonished looks of every other crew member- Xylion included- and gave a nervous smile.

“Uh, hey. This is my nephew, Justin. He’s my sister, Josephine’s, son.”

Xylion stared at the tiny human. Human Justin looked at him, his large eyes seeming to take in every part of him. Xylion felt the mucus he was secreting multiply tenfold.

The sound of clicking was heard, and a tall, female human appeared from the hallway. Her hair was a wavy blonde, and fell all around her body. Her chest, unlike the other females aboard the ship, was larger. She looked a lot like those pictures everyone had seen of female humans in something called magazines. Xylion was even more nervous now.

“Oh my, I am so sorry! My phone fell somewhere in the cabin, and I wasn’t paying attention! I hope Justin wasn’t causing any problems…” Her voice was like music to Xylion’s ears. At least, that’s what he had heard Human Isaac say when describing Human Quinn, so he assumed it was a good thing.

Xylion looked at everyone else, and swore he saw Human Jenny glaring at him, but when he looked again, she was smiling at Human Justin as he was given to his mother.

Captain Zellnor looked towards Human Fredrick. “What is the meaning of that small child?”

“Uh, well, see-” Xylion had never seen Human Fredrick so nervous before. Normally he was calm and collected, supplying intelligent facts and information for everyone, and occasionally setting someone right. He never stuttered, nor was he ever completely at a loss for words.

Human Josephine smiled sweetly. “I’m sorry for my younger brother. He has trouble talking, yeah?”

Xylion was now confused. Human Fredrick definitely wasn’t like that.

“Anyways, I’m sorry for me coming aboard, but I really wanted to see my little Freddie’s work place, and my little baby Justin wanted to see where his uncle worked, so I asked, and Freddie said it should be okay. It is alright, right?”

Captain Zellnor pondered this for a moment before nodding. “Yeah, I guess it’s alright.”

Human Josephine grinned. “Thank you! We’ll be out of your hair soon, I promise!”

For the next few hours, Xylion and the other crewmembers spent more time watching Human Justin than talking to Human Josephine. She spent most of her time talking to her brother, though Human Fredrick seemed less than thrilled through the whole thing.

Human Justin was an interesting little fellow. He was shy around many of the crewmembers, yet he seemed incredibly interested in Xylion. Of course, Xylion was also less than thrilled about this.

Human Justin was busy playing with Xylion’s gloves to help him when he was secreting mucus when he realized children were just as intriguing and smart as their adult versions.

“Xylion?” The young boy asked, looking up at him.

Xylion cringed as the pronunciation of his named, but didn’t correct the young boy. Prior attempts had failed. “Yes, Human Justin?”

The boy giggled. “You can call me Justin, Xylion.”

“Alright…Justin.” Xylion could almost feel his parent’s rage at his informality.

“Is Uncle Freddie happy here?”

Xylion was shocked at the sudden change in the boy’s mood. Just moments ago he had been laughing and talking animatedly about random little things that happened at his school. But now, he looked almost worried. But why would he question his Uncle’s happiness?

“Why do you ask, Hum- uh, Justin?”

Human Justin looked down at the gloves in his hands. “It’s just…Uncle Freddie never really…I mean, ever since Aubree…” The boy’s voice trailed off. Xylion looked down at the boy and saw his eyes were filled with what humans referred to as tears. He gulped, and blinked, the liquid dripping out of his eyes. “Ever since she died, he hasn’t been too happy.”

Xylion frowned, but then he remembered. Human Jenny had mentioned Human Fredrick was depressed ever since his girlfriend had been killed in a shooting on Earth. Was her name Aubree?

“You’re uncle has been happy here, Justin. Don’t worry about him.”

Human Justin shook his head. “He has raised me more than my own parents have. My mom usually works or hangs out at the bar, as she calls it. And my dad died before I was born, so I don’t even know him. Uncle Freddie was always there for me, but now he lives on this ship.”

“Your mother doesn’t care for you?”

“No, she loves me, but she’s never there. She is trying her best, but it isn’t going so well. Uncle Vlad and Uncle Max do their best too, but Uncle Vlad is busy in New York working with his company, and Uncle Max already has a family of his own. They can’t take me in.”

Xylion looked at the young boy. “How old are you, Justin?”

“I’m seven and a half, why?”

“You just seem very smart for such a young age.”

Human Justin grinned. “Uncle Freddie always told me that if I paid attention to school and everything around me, I could be just as smart as Einstein! Am I as smart as Einstein?”

Xylion had no idea who Einstein was, but he nodded. “I think so.”

Human Justin grinned, and Xylion noticed he was missing a tooth. He was slightly worried, but no one else seemed concerned, so he figured it was fine. “Thank you, Xylion!”

Xylion nodded. “No problem, Justin.”

Before long, Xylion found himself saying goodbye to Human Justin and Human Josephine. Human Fredrick wrapped his arms loosely around his sister, but with Human Justin, he scooped him up and spun him around. Human Justin laughed the whole way through before being squeezed by his uncle. Human Fredrick set him down, and whispered something in his ears.

The two said their goodbyes, and when Human Justin got to Xylion, he did something similar to what Human Fredrick had done. He wrapped his arms around Xylion and squeezed him. Xylion was confused, but when he looked up at the other humans for guidance, Human Jenny made the motion of wrapping her arms around herself, so Xylion wrapped his arms around Human Justin.

“Thank you, Xylion.” Human Justin whispered, squeezing him once more.

Xylion smiled at him as he let go of the small boy. Human Justin walked over to his uncle once more and said something that Xylion could barely hear.

Everyone waved goodbye as Human Fredrick led his family out of there.

And as their figures vanished, Xylion remembered the words Human Justin had whispered to his uncle.

“I love you, please stop.”

Do you like this?

I like this version of it. Sheds a little light on Fredrick’s past.

I am so sorry it took so long! These past weeks have been hectic. Between birthday parties, friend gatherings, schedule pick-ups for the new school year (stupid year long schedule, giving us only 6 weeks of summer vacation and 2 weeks for every other vacation), helping out in the library, sibling birthdays, the whole freaking package.

Also, lack of inspiration. I hate when writer’s block hits, because it seems to last forever.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it, @bee-wrecker ! I had fun writing it, even if it took a couple tries!

Also, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for always supporting all of my posts! You are the amazing one!

And remember, if you want to request anything, just message me!

‘Kids Will Climb Into Ovens To Roast Themselves Alive’: 5 Questions With Gordon Ramsay

With a culinary empire that includes dozens of top-tier restaurants and numerous hit TV shows, Gordon Ramsay is the food world’s biggest star. He was kind enough to sit down with us and share some of the secrets behind his astronomical success as a chef and entertainer.

1. You just wrapped up your fifth season of

MasterChef Junior.

How does working in a kitchen full of kid chefs differ from working in one full of adults?

It requires a lot more patience and attention. If you turn away for even a moment during a challenge, all the kids will climb into their ovens to roast themselves alive. If you don’t accompany them to the pantry, they’ll inevitably stuff a seabass full of forks and radishes and use a pressure cooker to turn it into a dirty bomb. You can’t get mad at them—kids will be kids, after all—but you’ve really got to watch them closely.

2. What is the most important factor in putting together a successful dish?

It all comes down to ingredients. Use only the best, most stunning ingredients, and source them as locally as possible. I try to only use ingredients that can be found within a 10-meter radius of my kitchen, which essentially amounts to whatever can be foraged from my laundry room and bathroom. That may sound limiting, but it’s not. Nothing dances on the taste buds quite like the L.A. Looks hair gel I find under my bathroom sink. There’s no better aromatic to brighten up a roast than the dryer sheets in find in the cupboard above my washing machine. Trust me, local is the way to go.

3. Your name is synonymous with fine dining, but do you have any culinary guilty pleasures? Perhaps some junk foods you secretly like to pig out on?

In the U.K. we have this snack called Gromfrey’s Aerated, which is basically warm cod fanny that’s been whipped into a parfait and stuffed into a tube of sheep intestine with large deposits of salt and wet wool—sort of like a British Twinkie. Anyway, the Gromfrey’s Wagon comes around every morning at sunrise, and when I’m back home I’ll invariably be the first one out to greet it, eagerly waving a fistful of quid while the schoolchildren queue up behind me, all of us chanting the famous jingle, “Lord Gromfrey, Lord Gromfrey! Bring us your hot and viscous treat! Lord Gromfrey, Lord Gromfrey! Our favorite aerated meat!” It’s all empty calories and sodium, but I can’t get enough.

4. If you could give aspiring chefs one piece of advice, what would it be?

Keep your damn cock-hole the size it is. Don’t go stretching it out to the point that it hardly functions as a cock-hole anymore. Just stick with the cock-hole size God gave you, and work with its limitations. I see so many great young chefs get ruined by thinking they need this gigantic cock-hole like Wolfgang Puck or Daniel Boulud. No. Sure, cock-hole size plays a part in being a great chef, we all know that, but it’s just one of the three factors that go into creating great cuisine. Don’t let it hold you back.

5. What is one trait you’ve noticed that great chefs have in common?

“Are you kids almost ready?” May called out.

“Yeah, just one second.” Peter replied, he pulled away from you flushed and slightly out of breath.

“You didn’t tell me May was home.” You said with a playful glare.

“I could have sworn I told you, but you must have been distracted by my irresistible lips.” Peter smirked.

“Oh what ever! I’m just excited for free sticky rice.” You laughed as you slipped on your shoes.

“Why would you get free food at all?” Peter asked.

“Peter, (Y/N) and I are babes. I know you notice that I get free food when we go, I notice that (Y/N) gets free food everywhere, how have you not?” May asked.

“Because she doesn’t…” Peter trailed off.

“Yes she does. Free gelato, a free slice of pizza, free desserts like everywhere. You really haven’t noticed?” May asked as she locked the door behind all of you.

“Babe, do you really miss that much?” You asked.

“No! I notice that you’re always happy when we go eat or that your hands get clammy when we go to see Tony. So why am I paying for two slices of pizza when we get pizza?” Peter asked.

“You always get two slices because you can’t choose between pepperoni and the special of the day.” You replied as you walked into the restaurant.

“Welcome, have a seat anywhere, we’ll be right with you shortly.” The waiter smiled.

The three of you took to a table, not bothering to look at the menu since you all got the same thing every time.

“What can I get you today?” The waiter asked, his eyes not leaving May.

“We’ll have our usual: larb, spring rolls, and dumplings. I’ll have a beer, he’ll have a water, and she’ll have a Thai iced tea.” May recited with a kind, friendly smile.

“We’ll get that right out for you.” He smiled.

You all made conversation, Peter’s arm slung around your shoulders playing with the strap of your top, but then you pulled your hair down from your messy bun and let if fall over your shoulders.

“You can’t do that! That’s cheating.” Peter accused.

“What? I just wanted my hair down.” You said in complete confusion.

“No, you know that’s attractive, hair back up.” Peter told you.

“No, I was going to get the rice anyways, relax.” You sighed.

When your food came out, the conversation flowed normally, May making comments on the news that was on and making her larb puns over and over again.

“The dumplings tasted better today.” Peter noted.

“It’s because the cook added love, he larbs you (Y/N).” May joked.

Peter groaned, running his hands over his face and tugging at his hair.

Both you and May laughed, continuing to eat like everything was normal until the waiter returned.

“From the chef, and for you, on the house.” The waiter smiled, placing a plate of sticky rice in front of both you and May.

“We didn’t order sticky rice.” Peter called out, but the waiter was already gone.

“Shhhhh! Let us enjoy our free food. Thank you!” You smiled, yelling out the last part to the young chef behind the counter.

“There’s no way, this was just a coincidence.” Peter tried.

“Yeah, ok. Do you want some?” You asked Peter.

On date night a few weeks later, Peter took you out for ice cream after a nice dinner. You both ordered your ice creams, waiting in line to pay. Peter and you fed each other tiny bites of your ice cream as you waited.

“Ok so that’s two ice creams, one on the house,” the cashier winked at you, “so your total is only 4.50.”

“Wait, why is one free?” Peter asked.

“Pretty ladies get ice cream on the house, have a wonderful night doll.” The guy smiled as he handed Peter his change.

Peter’s jaw dropped, walking out of the shop and leaving you behind.

“Thank you very much.” You smiled, placing a few dollars in the tip jar as you followed Peter out.

After school one day, Peter decided that his ‘internship’ could wait a few hours and joined you and Ned for pizza after school.

“I’ll just have a slice of pepperoni please.” You said with a smile.

“Sure thing sweetie.” The man smiled, getting you your slice and heading to the register.

“4 slices of pizza, that comes out to 4 bucks even.” The man stated after he punched some buttons on the machine.

“No, we have 5 slices.” Peter corrected.

“Hers is free, polite, young girl- reminds me of my daughter.” The man smiled warmly.

“Here you go, enjoy the rest of your day.” Peter said with a fake smile.

“Have a great day!” You and Ned said in unison.

“Peter, don’t get mad. It’s not my fault I’m cute and polite.” You joked.

“Well I’m cute and polite too! I don’t get free food!” Peter whined.

“That you are! But I tell you how cute you are all the time! I’m just cuter and more lovable.” You shrugged.

“That’s true, I’ve heard Happy talk about her like she was his daughter, how cute and polite do you really think you are?” Ned asked.

Peter stomped away, leaving you and Ned laughing at the situation and eating your pizza.

Yesterday, I went into this little restaurant by my work during my lunch break. Once I got my food, I sat down and started to eat– and that’s when a young lady came in wearing military fatigues. That’s not too surprising, considering the restaurant is right next to a military base. Anyway, the young lady walked up to the counter to order her food, and another girl who was at the cash register, started to ask her what she wanted. But then the two began flirting so adorably, that I had to stop eating and just watch it all go down. It went a little something like this:

Cashier: Hi, how are you doing today?

Young Lady: I’m alright, and yourself?

Cashier: I’m doing better … now.

Young Lady: *blushes*  *orders her meal*

Cashier: Do you want anything else– need anything else?

Young Lady: *blushes again* No, that’s it thank you.

Cashier: Okay… and,  what’s your name?

Young Lady: Heather.

Cashier: *winks* That’s a really pretty name.

Young Lady: *now bright red* Uh, thank you … had it for a while.

Cashier: *giggles*

Young Lady: *giggles too*

Chef in the Back: Are you gonna give me that order or do I need to read your mind?

After the order was placed,  the two continued to stare at each other across the restaurant until the young lady’s food was finally ready– and I couldn’t see it clearly enough to be certain,  but when the cashier handed over the styrofoam  container,  it looked for all the world like a phone number was written on the top of it.
