you're still the best and beyond

can we stop trashing enjolras in e/r
i’m all for monstrous enjolras characterization, but more along the lines of ‘this bar is now only serving molotov cocktails’ instead of being written as verbally abusive

i know the ‘incapable of thought belief life death etc etc’ section is maddening my first thought was ‘mon ange you shot a man like three chapters ago but that will not deter me from punching you in the face’ but people use that scene to justify cruel, horrible enjolras when the context is grantaire harrassing and bullying a waitress on a battlefield completely wasted while the rest of them prepare for war. it’s not as pointlessly harsh as people make it out to be, it’s the last fucking straw.  the revolution is what enjolras has been working towards his whole life, why do people take this line and act like it’s a regular occurrence?

he’s disdainful, and (ironically h a ha) skeptical of grantaire, and hugo lets us know he’s rebuffed him many times but I don’t see a basis for interpreting him as the kind of guy who delivers an Ego Eviscerating speech for anything less than ‘I’m literally preparing to fight and die while you’re being a useless dick’ hugo says he felt ‘lofty pity’ not ‘you’re the worst and i fucking hate you’

i think it’s pretty obvious from hugo’s earlier drafts that enjolras didn’t expect OFPD (his ’thank you’ holds so much surprise & gratitude) i don’t think enjolras knew and understood the extent of grantaire’s loyalty (i don’t think grantaire did either: ‘without being clearly aware of it, and without any notion of explaining it to himself, he was spellbound––’)

yes, several passages talk about how “sweet” and “tender” he was but that tenderness is also accompanied by sass, bullshit, and melodrama, would you expect sincerity from someone who follows you around saying shit like ‘what marmoreal magnificence?’ unreal

i would think they’re fucking with me, not ‘maybe we’ll die holding hands’ and grantaire offering to help with your revolution when he goes around whistling monarchy tunes to piss you off is like a troll blog offering to help you with your latest politically progressive news article, you’re gonna sideeye the fuck out of it.  why people think enjolras knows how grantaire feels about him when he ‘barely perceived roses, he was oblivious of spring, he did not hear birds sing, etc etc’ and would go out of his way to be cruel even knowing that is beyond me

Hi! So if you're still taking requests, maybe some more older!Solangelo with Chiara? (Also, just so you know, you've set ridiculously high standards for any other Solangelo fanfics I find. Yours are the best.)

(How can I possibly say no to more Chiara? ;w;)

It was the fiercest competition New Rome had ever seen.  It went beyond the games at Camp Jupiter and the underlying good-natured jabs between the Greeks and the Romans.  The fact was, Chiara Solace di Angelo was going to say her first word soon, and her parents were both frantic for their names to be the first she learnt.

“Daddy,” Will would coo at her and point at himself.  “Say it, now!  Dah-dee!”

Papà,” Nico would chant.  “Papá! Don’t forget I’m the one that feeds you.”

That ending part with Akane and Ginoza made me realize how the relationship between Gino and Akane evolved since s1. I think you're right when you say Gino understands her the best while she still kind of clings to Kou. That ending showed his overprotective attitude that he had since the beginning but I'm thinking he might actually have feelings for her that go beyond friendship, respect and work colleagues.

That could be possible considering that Ginoza is actually more open to a relationship than Kougami. In the Otomedia Valentine Scoop, the answers for the dating guide for him are quite normal whereas Kougami’s mind has always been occupied with work and even now he is still chasing after a prey. Just as Kagari mentioned it in the Psycho-Fes Live Reading, Kougami might seem close to everyone in Division 1 but he actually has walls around himself.

It isn’t like Kougami doesn’t care for Akane. He did risk his life to save hers a number of times, but when you take a closer look at it, Kougami is less concerned about her feelings and more focused on his own business. Namely, to chase after his preys.

Ginoza, on the other hand, is quite concerned about what she feels. And aside from his own feelings regarding the actions of Kougami, I personally believe that punch wasn’t just for himself.

However, as Ginoza tends to be protective of Akane, if he ever haboured feelings for Akane, I am inclined to believe he might not let such feelings develop or even make an advance knowing that the relationship between Inspector and Enforcer, while actually allowed by Sibyl, is not a healthy one.

Nevertheless, the bottomline of this also depends on preferences and perspectives. I’d end with a quote from Saiga here and say that “I couldn’t say my opinion isn’t coloured with my own feelings.” :3

I feel like Niall has made it openly clear he's working with Modest! still. He supports the Modest! Golf page and has met up several times with the people working it and working behind it. Other than a huge announcement, I'm not sure what else he could do to tell you he's in on this or why you're stating he may not be? His actions suggest he is. If Modest! was so terrible to them/his best friends, why would Niall have any future workings with them at all beyond contract end date?

Okay, that’s your analysis. And I’m publishing it, but I disagree.

I’ve made posts detailing why and I won’t repeat myself, but one thing is absolutely 100% certain - the initial report of Niall “starting a golf management company” with Modest is utterly untrue.

Richard Griffiths is the sole owner and corporate director of that company and Mark McDonnell is the titular Director of the business.

When you start a company with someone, all the relevant names go on the papers, like with Niall’s charity event company and his recording studio/bean farming venture.

I’m not sure why it is so important to you that Niall and the band continue to be associated with Modest or why you are defending them after everything we’ve seen over the last six years, but assuming that the band is staying with Modest in the absence of a formal announcement from anyone concerned is very short-sighted.

I agree that I may be wrong about the band signing with Jeff or Irving Azoff, but why are you set on them continuing with Modest? Why does that make sense to you? Modest as a company was brand new when they were tapped by Syco to manage X-Factor winners. They had industry experience, but there was no reputation already built when they got that prime assignment.

Since then, they have had two artists on their roster that are not from The X-Factor - but as 1D “discovered” 5SOS, 5SOS “discovered” Hey Violet. They have not given themselves enough of a positive reputation in the music industry to sign established artists. After six years. And while Cheryl was established before she went with Modest, she clearly is X-Factor associated and has not actually succeeded much beyond that as a solo artist since signing with them.

You’d think that the management company that brought 1D and 5SOS such amazing success would have people knocking down their doors, wouldn’t you? They don’t.

What they do have is shady financial dealings, a terrible industry reputation in London, and visible evidence that Louis Tomlinson, at the very least, does not like them at all.

So I maintain that what you are seeing that leads you to think they will continue with Modest AND that Niall has partnered with them in the long term for Modest!Golf are things that have been presented to mislead you into thinking that.

Now. Other than “it’s so obvious” please let me know why you believe your opinion is more valid than mine. Because to me “it’s SO obvious” that 1D does not like them and given the opportunity will sign with a much more effective and well respected company.
