yeah i know it's a fandom meme that liam is the band liar but louis is really good at it too. he has his tells like talking louder, over enunciating every word, nodding along to what he says- but in general he bullshits pretty flawlessly.

they are all good liars, or good spinners if you will. But Louis can look you straight in the eye and lie.

Mutsuki is lying...again...

Update: Phew, my boy got Promoted…I think.  However, that doesn’t change the fact that Mutsuki is still being credited for something he didn’t do, and still being awarded for it. It really doesn’t change the purpose of Mutsuki’s nature.  Not only that, but he’s not saying crap about it. He’s being given credit for something Urie did,and though Urie received his promotion, but now we have Mutsuki freeloading off of his success :/ Not cool.

Mutsuki Is lying again, he’s being a hypocrite just like Urie called him! This picture makes so much more sense! It was a foreshadow!

I don’t know if you guys remember Ishida’s quotes, but Mutsuki’s was, “Will lie again” We already know the first thing he’s lying about, and I think we all assumed that was the “again” part. We all assumed that Mutsuki living his life how he is now, as a man, was him being a hypocrite, completely disregarding the fact that “again” meant he’d do something else in the future.

But I don’t think we caught that. Mutsuki and his entire issue is the first “lie” Ishida was hinting at. I thought it was the only one, but it’s not.

Urie calls Mutsuki a hypocrite, and that didn’t mean much to me really, until now. Mutsuki is getting double promoted for his knowledge that off set the auction raid, and his helping in capturing Big Madame. One of those he didn’t do, one of those Urie did, yet Urie receives no credit, and Mutsuki does nothing to discredit what he didn’t do. He’s lying. He’s being promoted for one thing he didn’t do, and not saying shit about it. Yet the one who actually did it is remaining silent (hence, Urie’s quote is, “will keep my mouth shut).

The fact that he’s taking credit for something Urie did, and being awarded for it not only makes me sick, but it makes a lot more sense for Urie to call him a hypocrite. He’s living a lie, and saying nothing about it. And isn’t that something? After Mutuski claimed that he’d be there for Urie, now he’s taking his credit?

I mean, the foreshadowing Ishida provides is just amazing…But the biggest question though, really, who Is Mutsuki? And why is he being so rotten?

So Mutsuki isn’t lying, he actually did do something with Big Madame. I guess we just skimmed over it because he seemed so insignificant, but he did actually provide “directions” so Urie could know where Big Madame was. That’s a lot, yes, but still, not enough to be promoted to Rank 1, given the fact that Mutsuki is still very inexperienced.

And while this cancels out the lying aspect, I don’t think it cancels out the hypocrite aspect. Saying what I said before that Mutsuki isn’t ready to be Rank 1, yet he’ll gladly accept his promotion stands out. But let me also say that I don’t think the Q’s know that their quotes are being applied to them. Urie doesn’t know he’s keeping his mouth shut, Mutsuki doesn’t know he’s lying, Shirazu doesn’t know he’s carrying a burden, and certainly Saiko doesn’t know she’s seeping.

Mutsuki isn’t really lying to everyone else as much as he’s lying to himself. His life is a lie. Accepting a role that he knows he’s not prepared for, and living it makes him a hypocrite, but not the bad kind (does that even really make much sense? Hypocrite has such negative connotations to it that I can’t find a nicer word) What I mean to see is that it’s not uncommon for us to find ourselves in situations as something we think we are, when we’re really not, and at the point of realization, it’s too late to drop the act.

That’s what I think is up with Mutsuki’s case. And no, while he’s not lying about his promotion, I certainly don’t think he’s ready for a double promotion (I mean come on, his combat skills will get him killed, Yoshitoki is being an idiot for doing this to him), and I do believe he’s still being a hypocrite, but not knowing  it. Basically, I think he’s just lying to himself.
