Can we take a moment to appreciate Lin. He's got a busy life and yet he's still very active on Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. Let's not forget how much he interacts with his fans. You sir, are a gem to your fans.
Bertie Carvel: [The Hairy Ape is] a very left-leaning play, it observes the way in which the establishment, erm, capitalist economics keep the working man down.
Andrew Marr: It’s very interesting because we’re living in this period where we’ve just had the great sort of left-of-centre upsurge of the Jeremy Corbyn movement of the Labour Party. But the country voted to the right and I wonder if that’s one of the things about Britain. That we like our left-wing ideas, we like to kind of, you know, hearten on the left and all the rest of it, as long as it’s on the stage, as long as it’s on the screen. When it comes down to our interests, we vote differently. (x)
‘I overthink everything. I’m very keen there should be a positive outcome. I like to control outcomes. But you can’t. That’s what is nice about being an actor, that you work really hard and it pays off. But at the end of the day, for it to be any good, you have to let go. I’d like to be better at this in life.’
Notes: These are more driven from the video rather than the lyrics that’s why it’s out of my usual order!
Driving too fast, moon is breaking through her hair She said it was something that she won’t forget Having no regrets is all that she really wants
“Come on Liam!” You cheered him on at the booth where the object of the game was to knock down three tin bottles with the prize being a huge teddy bear. You clapped your hands together eagerly watching him throw the tennis ball and hit down the bottles and when the person working the booth handed Liam one of the biggest teddy bears you have ever seen in your life, which he handed straight over to you. “For you.” He was grinning from ear to ear, eyes as bright as the carnival lights all around you. You smiled back at him, your cheeks beginning to flush a light pink, “Thank you.” “Hey! How about a snack!” He was so excited it startled you a bit. “Yeah, I think there was a stand over there.” You proposed, holding your oversized teddy bear tight in your arm, the other joined with Liam’s as you walked over to a dessert stand. The woman handed two candy-apples over and you started joking around, pretending to feed the teddy bear a bite. Liam chuckled at you and devoured his apple, almost too quickly it was inhuman. “Liam I’m having a lot of fun. Thank you for this.” You grinned at him, leaning over on the bench to kiss right next to his sideburn. “You’re welcome, love. I’m glad you’re having a good time.” He placed a hand on your knee and gave it a squeeze. You were both so content and happy, it was hard to imagine this night going any other way. “Oh, but love.” You raised your eyebrows at him, “I did want to go on that one ride we saw when we first got here.” “You mean those spinning death things?” “Oh they can’t be that bad! Come on.” Before you could protest, he was dragging you over to the spinning ride and minutes later you were settling down in your own little buggy. “I’m so excited!” Liam was rubbing his hands as if to prepare his body for takeoff. You laughed at his excitedness. The buggy began spinning slowly and he was repeating, “Oh, here we go! Here we go!” You began spinning faster and faster and soon the only thing you could see upright was Liam, his smile going as wide as the Jokers. He was laughing like a little boy, warming your heart to see him this happy as you kept spinning for a few minutes. But soon, his smile started to fade and while you were holding onto the steering wheel in the middle, the car was finally slowing down and he was quickly gripping on his mouth. “Liam?” Before the buggy was even fully stopped he was running down the steps and tossing his head over the side of the railing. “Liam!” You hurried over to him, rubbing his back to comfort him when he was vomiting. “I’m so sorry Y/N…” He said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Oh Liam, why are you sorry?” “I just ruined this entire night.” You assumed he meant his recent upchucking, even if you wanted to be angry with him, you couldn’t, “Li, it’s alright, trust me. I don’t mind taking care of you.”
Going out tonight, changes into something red Her mother doesn’t like that kind of dress Everything she never had she’s showing off
“You look so beautiful.” He pecked your cheek when he leaned down to give you the bouquet of flowers. You were of course blushing, needing a moment to regain your confidence. “Thank you.” You were fully blushing now, breath caught in your through. You heart was fluttering from his intoxicating scent of sophisticated glory. “I really hope you like this place.” He amused, holding out his arm for you to wrap yours around as you headed into the restaurant. “I’m sure I will.” This whole thing was still fresh, the equivalent to that new car smell that was so enticing and every second spent with Zayn was exhilarating, just the thought making your heart skip a beat. You had never seen the back entrance, or kitchen of a restaurant and you were a tad curious: “Zayn, what are we doing here?” He only peeked down at you, grinning wide. Soon you were standing in the middle of the kitchen, people rushing all around you and some man wearing a chef’s hat approaching you. “Ah, Zayn, thank you for coming!” He had a thick accent and smelled of a mixture of tomato sauce and hot peppers. Zayn nodded, still showcasing his beautiful, picture perfect smile. “I’ve prepared the only the finest for you!” The chef glanced at you, then back to Zayn. “As well as the best wine, just like you asked.” The chef was now leading you through the kitchen and into the dining room where you could see one table empty, which you immediately knew was yours on the way over. “Do you know everyone in the world?” You chuckled, getting settled and placing the napkin in your lap. Zayn winked, “Only those most important.” “Well, I’m glad I could be on the list.” The waiter came over and poured “the finest wine there was” according to the chef, “Of course you are.” Zayn lifted his glass to clink with yours and you sipped, tasting a delicate mix of a dark spice. “This is amazing.” You noted, setting your glass down. Zayn agreed and soon the two of you got to talking about anything, really. Your hopes, your dreams, your ambitions. Anything that came to your mind, flowed out onto the table in its form of conversation. Zayn was so intrigued of it all, reaching across the table to hold your hand in the most precious way, making you feel like an expensive gem. “Your order sir.” The waiter placed Zayn’s plate in front of him and you yours. It smelled just like the kitchen, so authentic and delicious, tempting you to shove your entire face onto the plate. “This is absolutely amazing.” You said after a few stuffing bites. Zayn’s eyes squinted as he laughed with you. “Y/N?!” A booming voice echoed throughout the entire restaurant. “What the hell? You don’t call me back—and you’re on a date already?!” Your ex came rushing toward you, “Who is this joke?” Zayn mumbled to you. “It’s my EX.” You emphasized the “ex” and shot daggers at him. In retaliation, he took Zayn’s plate and dumped it over his slicked back hair. Your hands shooting up to cover your mouth in shock. You shot up, pushing your ex out of the restaurant, all eyes on you and Zayn—now Zayn sitting alone at the table wondering what had just happened.
Chasing her tonight, doubts are running ‘round her head He’s waiting, hides behind his cigarette Heart is beating loud, she doesn’t want it to stop
Your friend had given you the bright idea for a blind date, setting you up with one of their friends with whom you had never met. “Are you Y/N?” His hair was slicked back hair and he was sporting a trench coat. “Yeah, I’m guessing you’re Louis?” “That would be me.” Louis chuckled, “You’re as pretty as the picture.” He must have meant to say that in his head because his eyes went wide right after saying so. You were blushing and dipped your head to look at your feet, quite glad that he wasn’t smuggling you inside of a bag. “I was thinking we could take a walk.” Louis proposed, trying to scratch out his word vomit but replacing it with something productive. “That sounds nice.” You were still blushing. And as you walked next to him, he lead you down this path where you were now walking along the huge sidewalk before the water began. There was someone feeding pigeons on an approaching bench, causing them to fly all around you. One even flew right up by your shoulder, making you walk into Louis while trying to avoid it. He placed a hand on your back and you suddenly felt so calm, like you weren’t about to get hit in the face by a pigeon at all. On your walk you had learned so much about Louis, as if it was even possible to like someone as much as you like him in such a short amount of time, you found yourself doing just that. “How about we get some lunch? I hope I’m not holding you while you have other plans.” You were quick to shake your head, “No, no. I don’t have any plans. Besides being here with you, but that’s it.” You caught yourself rambling and stopped before you could go on further. “Great.” Louis piped, “My cars just right up here.” You realized now that you had done a complete circle during your walk—you were just so intrigued by him there was no use in paying attention to anything else. Louis showed you to a vintage silver car, “Here we are.” “This is your car?” You asked curiously. “Yeah, why?” He opened the passenger door for you, “It’s just so nice. It’s like I stepped into a time machine.” You amused as he walked around to the other side and joined you in the car. “She runs pretty fast, too.” “So it’s a she?” Louis laughed, “Y/N every man’s car is a she.” You giggled at him and he pulled away. “Just how fast does she go?” You were feeling dangerous now and you loved it. “Let’s find out.” The engine revved and you were speeding down the street—thankfully it was empty and there weren’t many other cars driving along. The wind was whipping throughout your hair and you were laughing so loudly, feeling the butterflies flying through your body. Louis was delighted by your laughter and through the wind you could hear him chuckling at you pleasantly. Through your laughter and the loud wind, the sound of sirens approached behind you, “Pull over to the side of the road.” The cop said through the speakers. “Shit.” Louis abided by the rules and soon your heart dropped into your stomach. “Sir, you realize this car was reported stolen.” The officer said on the other side of the door. “No, it’s my car. Why was it stolen?” “Louis what’s going on?” You chimed, but Louis and the officer began arguing quite intensely. “Sir I’m going to have to ask you to step out of the car.” You were terrified that you would have to spend the night in jail, the cop making both of you get out of the car. Louis shot you a sympathetic look as the officer grabbed his arms and placed them behind his back. Two things happened that day: you went on your first blind date, and you got to witness first hand someone getting arrested.
Moving too fast, moon is lighting up her skin She’s falling, doesn’t even know it yet Having no regrets is all that she really wants
“I didn’t know you could cook like that.” You laughed at Niall, resting on his couch in the den. Niall beamed, handing you a glass of champagne and joining you, “Trust me I can’t.” He amused, “I owe my extent of cooking to watching cooking shows. That’s about it.” You snorted from laughing so loud that it sent Niall into a fit of laughter of his own. “I would have never guessed.” You mused his ego, loving to hear the sound of his cackles in his sentences and how he had to pause to let out a little more laughter before continuing with his story. There was something harmonious about the room, its dark walls made it seem like a retreat away from the world. You couldn’t recall ever being in a place so magnificent, with such an aroma that could make anyone imagine their wildest and most pleasant of dreams. “Would you like more champagne?” Niall was already up, offering to fill your glass for you. “Yeah, if you don’t mind.” “Not at all.” He smirked, walking off into the kitchen. While he was gone you took this time to admire the structure of the room and how almost immediately your eyes were drawn straight to the huge fireplace and imagined how much warmer it would be with it lit. Not only was it the warmth you were desiring, but the smell of burning wood, that was so odd to describe with smoky and rich scent that calmed even the most excited being. “Hey Niall.” You caught his attention when he came prancing back into the room holding your glass. “Yeah?” Before he sat down you continued, “Can you light the fire?” Your eyes glanced at the fireplace, at Niall, then back to the unlit wood. “Oh yeah!” He seemed excited and hurried to put down his refilled glass of champagne on the coffee table. He began mumbling, “I think this just goes here and then this…” but then trailed off to something so incoherent that you bet even a mouse couldn’t hear. Minutes later you were delighted to see a small fire burning at his feet. Niall seemingly surprised with his skill to light the fire, joined you on the couch where you both continued a conversation full with laughter and smiles. You were cozied next to Niall by the fireplace, the perfect dream date. “Ni I think the fires going out.” You stated through a yawn, noticing how the only light in the room was dimming quite rapidly. “I’ll get it.” He removed himself from the comfort of sitting next to you and began poking at the fire. “Ah shit, shit, shit! His voice suddenly became so loud in the room it startled you and you whipped your head over to see that his arm was on fire. “Oh my god, Niall!” He was waving it around trying to make it go out, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, tripping over the coffee table and spilling over the tray of food and the drinks all over your lap. The next minute had seemed so rushed: you hurried to stand from the couch and take a blanket, throwing it over Niall’s arm to put out the flames. The both of you were breathing fairly vastly, trying to make any sense of the past minute. “Oh man I’m so sorry.” Niall apologized for the recent hype in action, but all you could do was throw your head back and laugh at the situation.
We’re only getting older baby And I’ve been thinking about you lately Does it ever drive you crazy Just how fast the night changes
The only reason you were on your way to the ice skating rink was because Harry won a game of Rock, Paper, and Scissors. After the seven times you played the game, you still didn’t understand how fire could win over a rock, nor how it even played into the game. Even if you would have won the game, Harry would have pouted until he got you to go. “Why are you so adamant about this being a bad idea?” You gave him a weary glance in return when he handed you your skates. “Harry, do you remember when we went roller skating on that pier in LA?” Harry only furrowed his eyebrows and you continued, “Do you remember how that ended up?” He shrugged, “Harry you got smoothie spilled all over you. Not to mention a ton of splinters!” “I don’t recall.” He looked off into the distance, scratching at his nonexistent beard on his chin. “Harry the splinters were in your foot.” He started putting on his skates while you were still rambling this memory he so called “failed” to remember even though it happened only a few months ago. “Your foot was in the skate!” “Y/N, I promise I won’t get any splinters.” He chuckled at himself, finishing up tightening his skates. “Now sit!” He demanded in a playful tone. Reluctantly enough, you obliged to his demand as he kneeled at your feet. “The first sign of anyone getting hurt and we’re leaving.” “Y/N don’t you trust me?” He asked, lifting his head to catch your attention, there was a glint of humor in his eyes that you knew only showed when he was purely excited about something. Harry placed a hand on your shin, rubbing his thumb back and forth. “Harry it’s because I trust you that I’m so worried about your well-being.” You chuckled lightly and he returned to finish up with the laces on your skates. “Now,” He stated, standing tall and holding out his hand for you, “Shall we go ma ’lady?” He was lips twitched up into a half a smile and you grabbed onto his hand, wobbling over to the rink. There were quite a few people already skating around and you hoped that either of you wouldn’t end up bumping into them. “Here we go…” He chuckled, looking back at you rolling your eyes. “I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I’ve skated.” You were wobbling really bad, afraid of losing your balance and flailing your arms in the air. Harry turned so he was facing you, smirking at the frightened look upon your face, “Here.” He took both of your hands with his and began skating around. The frightened look that had taken residence on your face quickly moved away with one of happiness replacing it. After you went around a couple of times, you were gaining your “ice legs” as harry liked to call them and Harry removed one of his hands so his was only pulling you around with one. It gave him a better eye to look out onto the rink to make sure you weren’t going to bump into anyone. Quite a while after going around the rink, you begged Harry to stop and take a breather, so he went to a halt right in the middle of the rink. You had bent down to stuff your pants in your skates when Harry began calling you, “Y/N look over there!” Glancing up, you saw a couple doing a figure skating move, throwing the other in the air and spinning around. “How on earth do they do that?” He said out loud, watching them intently. A second later he turned around to you, exciting look on his face, “Y/N we can totally do that.” “What?” You retorted. “Yeah skate towards me and I’ll lift you up!” You were shaking your head vigorously, but that didn’t stop Harry from skating toward you, lifting you up, but instead of landing back on your skates, you were then laying on your side on the freezing cold ice. There was a sudden shooting pain throughout your ankle, when you tried lifting it you were wincing in pain. Beside you, Harry was groaning and holding his elbow, face matching yours with how much it must have hurt. When you were sitting with the paramedics across from Harry, who was being checked out for a concussion with a sling on his arm, you noticed him starring at you across the pavement. “I’m sorry.” He mouthed, face animated with worry. But in return you shook your head. If only he knew how much he was in for when you got home.
“Surprise, surprise! I genuinely hope that ‘The Brighest Void’ is a pleasant surprise to each and every one of you. During the long process of recording the songs for my new studio album ‘The Shadow Self’,
I realised that there were so many tracks, too many too dear to me, for
just one album. So this time I decided to keep nothing for myself and
to share all my favourite new songs with you, the fans, who have shown
such passionate and constant support.
‘The Brighest Void’ gives more than a first taste of ‘The Shadow Self’; it is a full album filled with 9 songs! I am sure that everyone will immediately discover how much ‘The Brighest Void’ and ‘The Shadow Self’
are entwined with each other but, at the same time, are two independent
records which stand on their own. I hope the release of the prequel
sweetens the wait until August and that you will like the songs as much
as I do. I will present songs from both albums already in summer
festivals and in my headliner tour later this year.
As always, keep your eyes open. There might be further surprises down the road.”

Finally, I’d like to thank the New York theatre-going public. Their warmth, enthusiasm, love and encouragement were amazing. That was reward enough, this is icing on a very, very rich cake and before I suffer from chronic indigestion, thank you very much indeed.

How this man comes up with such lovely acceptance speeches is mind-boggling.
