you should all make a road trip to come see him (and me!!)

Snap Decision

(A chance meeting with a stranger at a bar helps you recover from a bad breakup.)

Warnings: 11000+ words of mostly sex stuff.  Bad ex boyfriends. People doing inadvisable things.  Listen up kids: in real life you should be more cautious about who you let take naked pictures of you! Lots and lots of sex.  If you’ve read my stuff before, you know the drill.

You thought it would be fun to work in sales after you graduated from university; you would travel around the country, meeting new people, holding meetings in fancy high rise office buildings in big cities, wining and dining clients at gourmet restaurants while you closed deals and made boatloads of money.  The reality was that you were selling industrial wastewater management systems, making a moderate income, while traveling four days a week to factories and chemical refineries in some of the least glamorous locations on earth.  You didn’t mind the work itself, but the evenings alone in small town hotel rooms were dull and disheartening, so you would frequently head out to a local movie theater or neighborhood bar to distract yourself from the loneliness on the road.

It was pouring down rain outside and you decide to run to the closest place you could find to grab a drink, rather than risk driving around and getting lost.  That’s how you found yourself sitting alone at the bar of the Applebee’s restaurant that was adjacent to your hotel, sipping on something called a Blue Hawaiian, in a town you couldn’t even remember the name of.

Unruly children sat with their families having dinner in the nearby booths, while innocuously bland pop songs played overhead.  You took one sip of the cloyingly sweet blue cocktail in front of you and immediately regretted your decision to come here tonight. Given the lousy week you had experienced, you would have been better off drinking cheap whiskey at a dive bar filled with unapologetic alcoholics.  Here, the family friendly atmosphere mixed with the empty promises of a fruity cocktail that was designed to trick you into thinking you were on a tropical island vacation instead of in your real life.  Your real crappy life.

You had totally blown the sale today.  The clients had a million questions about the technical specifications of the products you were trying to sell, but you kept tripping over your words and making yourself sound like an idiot.  You blamed your poor work performance on lack of sleep.  And you blamed the lack of sleep on your boyfriend, David.  Actually, he was your ex-boyfriend now.  After more than a year together, you dumped him for cheating on you.

He claimed he was faithful, but you were certain he was lying.  He never picked up his phone when you called him from out on the road.  He would eventually call you back, but his stories about where he was and what he was doing always sounded a little off.  The final blow came when your friend Stephanie told you she saw him going into a movie theater with another girl.  David claimed Stephanie was mistaken and that you were just paranoid and jealous for no reason.  You wanted to believe him, but deep down you were sure that Stephanie was right.  All the unresolved questions you had about what David was doing while you were working could easily be answered if he had been cheating on you.  David cried when you told him it was over, he begged you to reconsider, but you were resolute and just walked away.

That had been a week ago, and every day since then, you questioned whether or not you made the right decision.  You had no hard proof that he had been unfaithful.  Sure, Stephanie said she saw him, but she only saw from a distance.  Maybe she was mistaken.  Maybe it was just someone who looked like David.

“Is this seat taken?”

An Open Letter to Non-Vaxxers:

Tonight, while enjoying a nice dinner, I got a call from the director of my son’s preschool. She was calling to tell me that they had made the decision to put my son in a different class because two children in the class he was supposed to be in have “opted out” of their vaccines. This may not sound like a big thing. He is still in the Tuesday-Thursday class, and since he doesn’t start school until next Tuesday, it’s not like he has to get readjusted to a whole new class. No harm, no foul. Actually, this is a big deal–a very big deal. You see, my son is immunocompromised. He has cancer. He was fully vaccinated and supporting the whole “herd immunity” thing before his cancer diagnosis, but that darn chemo wiped out his immunity to the communicable diseases against which he had already been vaccinated.

So, parents who choose to not vaccinate because you feel it’s the “right choice for your family”, I would like to thank you. Thank you for adding yet another worry to my plate and my husband’s plate. You see, we already worry about a lot–it’s an unfortunate part of your child having cancer–you worry every night. On top of worrying about things like relapse, organ toxicity brought on by chemo, debilitating late effects of chemo, secondary cancers brought on by chemo, the mental effects of having more than three years of painful treatment, we now get to worry about, of all things, measles. And mumps. And whooping cough. And chicken pox.

Let me explain something about having a child with cancer to you: everything is robbed from your child in some form or another. Friends, Halloween, Christmas, play dates, school. It’s all taken away at some point or another and in some form or another because we have to protect our children from germs, because if they catch the wrong germs during the worst part of treatment, they can die. My son was isolated from everyone except immediate family for an entire year. For parents whose children are going through chemo, the decision to send them to school is a momentous one. It requires a leap of faith and trust in the surrounding community, in your child’s teachers and administrators, and in the families sending their children to school. It requires herd immunity. Now, even though my son is now in a different class than your unvaccinated children, I get to worry about him using the communal bathroom, the playground, and even walking around the halls with them. If there is an outbreak of measles in, say, Austin this winter, I won’t know if you have relatives in Austin and went to go see those relatives for Uncle Bobby’s birthday. I won’t know if your child was exposed to measles at the Austin Chuck-E-Cheese and then showed up at school on Tuesday. Oh, I’m sure you’ll do your due diligence and call the school to inform everyone that your child has come down with a case of the measles once it appears, but, the damage is done–the exposure to my immunocompromised child has already happened. It’s too late. Your choice just earned him a ticket to the hospital. Your choice just earned him a lot of shots and more toxic drugs in the desperate effort to stave off whatever disease your unvaccinated child passed to him. If, God forbid, he does come down with that disease, your choice just earned him a trip to the Pediatric ICU for a while–days, maybe weeks. Your choice may cost us our son. Who knows–it depends on how his already stressed body handles everything.

People like to say that in choosing to not vaccinate, they are making the “best choice for their family”, and that, after all, their children are the ones at risk, not other people’s children. No, sorry, you’re wrong. Choosing to home school is a choice that is made in the best interest of a family–it impacts nobody but your family. Choosing to eat all organic and locally grown food is a choice that impacts nobody but your family. For that matter, choosing to eat nothing but fast food and frozen meals is a choice that impacts nobody but your family. Choosing to not vaccinate impacts my family and my immunocompromised son. It impacts the teacher who is pregnant and teaching your non-vaccinated child. It impacts the man going through chemo who happened to be behind you in the grocery store when your unvaccinated child sneezed. It impacts the mom next to you at the pick up line at school who is on immunosuppressive drugs for her rheumatoid arthritis and who is bending down to hug her child just as your unvaccinated child coughs. Your “choice” has repercussions for your community.

Part of the cost of living in a first world country is that you have to do things that support the community in which you live. You pay taxes to pay for the police that respond to your 911 calls, to pay for the teachers who teach your children, and to pay for roads to be plowed and paved. You obey traffic laws to ensure an orderly flow of traffic. You don’t shout “fire” in a crowded theater because to do so would cause pandemonium and chaos. Sometimes, to live in a place with the privileges we enjoy here in America, you suck it up and do things you don’t want to do because it’s for the communal good. If everyone chose otherwise, we would not be a first world country. We would be a country without laws, roads, and schools. We would be a country overrun with disease. Your responsibility to your community is to vaccinate your child. The number of people who actually, literally, physically can’t have vaccines is extraordinarily small. The number of people who choose to not vaccinate is not–it’s growing. These people cite a vague unease about the number of vaccines a child gets or statistics they learned from Internet memes on autism. They confess conspiracy theories about Big Pharma and how it’s all a ploy to get doctors and pharmacists rich. They share anecdotes of a college friend’s neighbor’s son who got so sick from his vaccine he was hospitalized. They say their child got incredibly sick from the one round of vaccines he or she got at his 2 month visit, and they said they’re not vaccinating anymore. Guess what–if your child is sitting here today, talking, walking, eating, laughing, playing, and learning, he or she wasn’t that ill from the vaccine. He or she got a fever and reacted to the vaccine–it doesn’t mean they had an “adverse” reaction.

I am horrified, non-vaxxers, that you are so quick to forget the lessons of history. You’re spoiled and selfish because you have never seen the horrors of a society in which vaccines are not available. Perhaps you should talk to my mother about her neighbor growing up–the one who contracted German measles while pregnant with her third child. That third child was born deaf and with brain damage, thanks to his mother catching that communicable–and now preventable–disease while pregnant. Perhaps you should talk to anyone over the age of 60 about what it was like when polio was around–how nobody was allowed to go swimming or use public drinking fountains for fear of catching that dreaded–and now preventable–disease. Perhaps you should talk to the parents of a child with cancer whose daughter spent a month in the Pediatric ICU during treatment because she caught chicken pox–a preventable disease–from an unvaccinated classmate. Perhaps you should take a trip to a third world country and explain to them why they should not be lining up in droves to get their children vaccinated by the Red Cross or other relief organizations. Perhaps, better yet, you should keep your children out of school.

a/n: I originally ended to make this a multiple part thing but then I got a better series idea and just yasss. also this is the first stranger things fit I’ve ever done so please please please go easy on me

You stood with your arms wrapped around yourself in a desperate attempt for warmth, watching as your breath clouded in the cold. Your ride was late. Actually, correction; your ride had forgotten they even were your ride. Frankly, you couldn’t blame him for it.

You and Jonathan weren’t exactly friends to begin with. It wasn’t that you hated each other it was just… acquaintances suited the two of you best. If it wasn’t for your mother always trying to push you two together, you questioned the fact that you two would even talk to each other at all. Not to mention, you wouldn’t have been in this mess right now, either. Regardless of how many times you objected this to your mother and insisted that he’d rather be with someone like Nancy, her and Ms. Byers both insisted that Jonathan driving you to school in the winter was simply the best decision, even though you had your own car. Ms. Byers called it being “safe,” while you mother hoped it would “spark something.”

Yet here you were, resorting to sitting on the sidewalk of the Hawkins High School parking lot defeatedly. To say that you were only a little upset over your current situation was an understatement. Maybe it was the cold, or the fact that this was the third time this has happened this week, but you were on the verge of tears. Instead of doing what you did the last two times and walking home, you figured if you sat here longer enough either one of two things would happen. A.) You’d freeze to death, or B.) Someone would realize you were gone and come get you.

But before another numbing thought could slip into your mind, a car pulled up near where you were sat as the driver slowly rolled the window down.

Your mind was running wild. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t think coherently. IT had Stan… while you and everyone else had been bonding at the quarry, Stan had been in danger. And it was all because of you. If you hadn’t dragged him back into this mess, if you’d just left him alone… then none of this would’ve happened. You needed to find Richie, needed to tell him what had happened. But no one else, Richie already knew and that was the only reason why you justified going to him.

You wouldn’t risk the lives of your friends by dragging them back into something they thought was done.

You clenched your fists, nodding to yourself. Richie had only left a little bit ago, if you continued down the path you should be able to reach him before he got home. Then, you’d tell him everything and you’d guys would figure out what to do. So, nodding your head you began walking again, not quite running but your feet carried you along the road quickly. It wasn’t until you reached an alleyway, a alleyway you were sure Richie took home and turned a corner, did you feel your body flying downwards.

Something’d tripped you.

A Taste for the Illegal by KuraraOkumura - Jean and Eren are pursued by the police after robbing a bank, and Jean tells Eren to hide in the backseat of their car while they wait for the police to pass. Love is Confusing and Life is Hard by kiwisaurus121 - Jean wakes up to find a stranger on his couch. He’s still not sure why he didn’t call the police, but at least he gets a kitten out of it.

EreJean Week 2014 by pandaspots

Eren x Jean Drabbles
by Chukabu00 - Random one-word inspired drabbles on the life of Eren and Jean. In no particular order. Contains some M-rated content from time to time, some married fluff, modern AU.

sun-drenched dream by dizzyondreams - Besides, he had a real nice thing going on with the cute son of a local winemaker that he didn’t want to sacrifice just yet.

Welcoming for Strangers by thanatopis - Eren Yeager and Jean Kirstein have known each other since high school and have very little good things to say about one another. So when Jean comes back from his trip abroad in France, old things are rehashed despite Eren not wanting them to be.

Heart-Shaped Glasses by Emery - “Everything should have been so much clearer now that Eren could see, but the fact of the matter was—it wasn’t. Jean’s face may have been distinct, but Eren’s feelings for him were still as blurry and muddled as they had always been.”

I’ll let you know that all this time I’ve been afraid by Ingi

Like A Horse To Water by WolfNotFawn - The Jaegers had lived beside the Kirstein ranch for more than seven years now, but as far as Jean was concerned, Eren was no more than a thorn in his side. If you asked anybody else, they would tell you it was a little more complicated than that.

and you feel like the ocean by dizzyondreams - Jean’s car pulled up outside Eren’s house at 2am sharp, and by 2:30 Eren was pressing him against it for a welcome-back kiss. His skin was warm under his fingers, as if he was still holding lingering heat from the day.

daffodils by crunchrapsupreme - Jean learns that Eren’s favorite flower is a daffodil.

you got a black heart by seabear - Eren is a performer at the Shiganshina Horror Park. Jean is the strung-out costume/makeup artist who hates him. Maybe. Eren’s a little unsure about that last part.

cobwebs and storagerooms by Sexycanofsoup - Sometimes all it takes to get two angsty boys to crack is to lock 'em up in a dirty old room for a while. The big stupid homo crushes tend to reveal themselves without much effort after that. A story of cleaning, confessions, and awkward blushing boys who know how to use their fists better than their words.

cross country trek by supportingcharacters - Jean wakes up at 2am to Eren Jaeger in his car outside, beeping his horn and insisting that he wants to go to the beach.

The Simple Things by supportingcharacters - Every Thursday, Eren goes to the same drive thru to pick up lunch. Even with the new asshole of a server, he won’t be deterred. Though maybe the new asshole of a server isn’t actually as bad as he thought.

As It Is by Chaeriee (cheshireree) - Eren, Jean and all the trouble that comes with them. A giant collection of old EreJean fics I have.

Stardust by Syene - He never meant to put himself in the spotlight like this, yet here he was. Eren Jaeger, nondescript New Yorker, college student and barista before all of this happened was now followed around by the paparazzi because he was seen with a Hollywood starlet apparently.

oh this town it’s so electric by dizzyondreams - The first time Jean saw Eren Jaeger, he was sweating and wearing glitter under the pulsing lights of some club in Stockholm. As he watched the strong line of his body move to the beat of the music, the hazy green lights flash across his face, Jean thought: he’s gonna be mine.

Nothing says 'I love you’ like a bunch of corpses by pandaspots - Jean is an FBI agent and someone has a killer crush on him. Literally. He has no idea how things got to this point, but he figures threatening the sicko he will do anything to see him cuffed and locked up has something to do with it.

a sleeping giant that you’ve woken by qaara (maladictive) - The world went to hell the day Jean Kirstein decided he gave a shit about Eren Jaeger’s emotional well-being.

Too Hot To Handle by mongoose_bite - Jean has recently joined MI6’s elite agents as 003 and he couldn’t be happier. His career is going places, his degree is paid for, his job is exciting, if somewhat dangerous, and his handler is the beautiful Mikasa, whom he will definitely certainly ask out soon. Until it isn’t. Until Mikasa is replaced by Eren, who Jean quickly decides is absolutely the last person he wants talking in his ear when he’s getting shot at.

you there, hiraeth by crunchrapsupreme - Jean says, “Come visit me.” Eren freezes, his fingers going still as he glances up, locking eyes with Jean’s through the screen. (…) “Um,” Eren says, scratching the back of his neck before smiling. “Okay.”

clear the runway, prepare for takeoff by Piyo13 - July 1948. Jean Kirstein, U.S. Airforce pilot, has been called back to Germany in the wake of WWII, in order to assist in the Berlin Airlift. Eren Jäger, West Berlin resident, has been helping unload cargo from British and American planes for almost a month, trying to keep the city of Berlin fed and warm. It’s grueling work for the both of them, but they make it work.

Seven Minutes in Heaven, Ninety Minutes in Hell by Armajesty (hinatella) - Eren is left with an even bigger one when a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven gets him trapped in a closet with his enemy-but-certainly-not-crush-because-ew Jean.

Paper Kites by burlesquecomposer - When Eren Jaeger joined as a drummer for a small college indie rock band, he hardly expected it to develop into something more.

Creep by Variabile - Eren giving Jean a tattoo.

the jean wayne by crunchrapsupreme - The first time Jean’s faced with the elusive question, he’s seventeen and Eren’s sixteen, fresh with a new license and a shitty used car with beige leather seats that smell like smoke from the previous owner.

When We See the Sea by WhiteSilverandMercury - staring at eren is like staring into the sun, they say it blinds but men do it anyway; and jean is a young man who wears his heart on his sleeve but guards it with the spade ready to dig his own grave.

What We Will Find by jtjenna (pornographicpenguin) - a modern au in which very many slightly related and very goofy things occur.

Sleepy Eyes and Boney Knees by ilrei- A few drabbles for the Erejean2k16 prompts that I just put into the same universe. Doing the prompts: Music, monster, confession, similarities/differences and bath/shower.

unintentionally burnt pancakes by venator - Someone set fire to some pancakes once upon a time and it was all downhill from there.

pink lips, pink lace by dizzyondreams - “These aren’t mine you-” He turned just in time to see Eren wriggling into his slightly undersized trousers and caught a flash of something before he pulled them over his hips. Something lacy and distinctly pink. Jean’s words dried up in his mouth.

Doomed from the Start by Engineer104 - Eren found the documents entirely by accident. An Unwind AU.

“I like you, Jeanbo” by shulkie - City-slicker Jean Kirstein is forced to come back to the small town he spent one year in for a funeral and runs into hell-raiser Eren Jaeger, apprentice to the local mechanic.

Working Past It by tyrellis - No matter what Jean may say, it’s not Eren’s fault that this happened: he was just innocently searching for a working vending machine. Jean had the good voice, and sang in French, and seemed like an angel. Eren feels entirely justified in the disappointment he feels when he discovers Jean’s actually a massive dickhead.

Nights With You by NormieScum - Eren makes bad decisions and Jean is always there to help him clean up afterwards.

bound to fall for you by dizzyondreams - Later, on the bus back to their apartment, Eren went on a stoned rant about Jean’s profile that Armin patiently sat through with a quiet air of bemusement. Mikasa just stared out of the window and offered the occasional, “Believe me, he’s an ass.” to which Eren paid no attention. He officially had a new crush.

Magnolia lights by peralta - Jean enjoys his days working at the flower shop. He’s never had so much fun, though, as when a bright-eyed boy stops by every Friday asking for tulips.

To Win is to Lose by somethingintheireyes - “The first one to fall in love loses.” “Heh, you picked the wrong opponent Jaeger, you’re on. ”

god tier emo au by dizzyondreams - There was something odd about him, something that interested Eren when all that interested him anymore was drumming. The way the look in his eyes, the curve of his mouth, didn’t quite match up with the rest of him. First violin, some button-down rich boy, but Eren had found him beating the shit out of a guy in an alley. Blood dark against his shirt, and his eyes like flint behind the trail of Eren’s cigarette.

That’s it! I’ve read SO MANY lovely jeanere fics so I’m pretty sure I’m missing some but I think that for now this list is good :) I’ll be updating this whenever I read new awesome fics so yeah! stay tuned! You can find some more nice fics here !

You woke up to the sound of your loud alarm clock, you never being gladder to hear the ringing for the first time. In the midst of your nightmare, Jimin successfully captured your boyfriend, Jungkook, heart with a simple air kiss. As much as you loved hanging out with him and the rest of his friends but at times, Jimin seemed more like a rival than a close friend.

You shivered, getting out of bed and quickly getting into the shower. The hot water tingled against your skin, washing away grogginess along with the odd feeling of jealousy that lingered due to your dream. You hoped that you wouldn’t accidentally snap at Jimin the next time you saw him.

Dressing into a bomber jacket, one of Jungkook’s old white shirts and high-waist jeans, you lazily tied your hair back because the spark that caused you to dress up died as soon as you saw your hair.  It momentarily returned as you did your makeup, although going for a more natural look since you were short on time. You gave yourself a once-over in the mirror that hung on your door before going into the kitchen. You settled for a pear, the juicy green fruit deserved more love than the typical apple. Tossing the core into the trash, you grabbed your bag from the floor where you left it yesterday and noticed one of Jungkook’s socks behind it.

You sighed, the lone sock triggering the memory of when Jungkook asked you to live with him. It was probably three months after you two started dating and after a handful of times when his friends had walked in on the two of you. He was so abrupt about it, you jokingly agreeing to it at first until he showed up to your old apartment with a bunch of classified ads and a red marker. Of course, having a place to yourselves meant no interruptions but getting to know each other in the same house had its cons. Especially since Jungkook liked to eat your leftovers when you specifically tell him not to, or the fact whenever he offered to help you with the grocery, he loved to place your favourite snacks on the top shelf of your cupboard like the evil giant he is. Not to mention his habit of losing socks that turn up after weeks of being missing.

You dryly laughed to yourself, remembering that your boyfriend was currently on a trip for the next few days for his portfolio. That boy loved his camera as much as he loved you, although he couldn’t answer whether he would save his camera or you in a fire without hesitation.

This wasn’t the time to think about Jungkook, you told yourself and picked up your bag. You placed the sock on the coffee table and left the apartment. You caught the bus, rushing up the back of the bus before the driver sped down the streets. You watched the passing cars and bikes, the fall leaves adding colour to the grey asphalt of the road. The familiar scenery of your campus came into view and you got off the bus, walking down the path. People on their bikes pass you, stopping at the bike racks up ahead and you reached the corner where your best friend, Sol-ji usually popped up.

“Boo!” Just as you predicted, she came from behind you to cover your eyes and you smiled at her failed attempt to scare you.

“Halloween ended two weeks ago.”

“I meant that as an endearment.”

“Explain covering my eyes.”

“A magician never reveals all her tricks.”

“Sol-ji, you literally walked up behind me. The only magic here is how you managed to trick yourself into blatant fibbing.” You two walked up the steps into the hall, seeing people sitting in lounge chairs and others rushing up the stairs to whatever class they’re about to be late for.

“You’re so mean, Y/N~ Did Jimin say he was going to steal Jungkook away again?”

“Only in my nightmare, yes. Sorry for my outburst, I feel strange today.”

“Oh, you miss him that much.”

“I miss not having to climb the counter to grab the peanut butter and my snacks or not waiting for the bathroom in the morning? I think not.”

“The amount of denial you’re having is astounding.” You rolled your eyes, focusing on walking up the stairs as Sol-ji continued to talk to you. She was bashing her roommate, as usual, talking about how she had come home to the floor covered with pictures of cats. Somehow, her roommate hadn’t noticed that her camera was connected to the printer and she had unknowingly printed 50 Polaroid photos of her cashmere cat.

“I’m honestly questioning why I said I was okay with pets on that survey.”

“You were just being an honest person.”

“How did the system think that I and she were 85 percent compatible when she is, 100 percent accuracy, the worst roommate I ever had.”

“Just ask for a change.”

“But she makes the best cookies,” you rolled your eyes, was she seriously going to let her sweet tooth be a deal breaker, “and I might be over-exaggerating.”

“I noticed.” She elbowed your side as you laughed while you two entered the classroom. A few people were early as well and you two sat in the middle rows. You two readied yourselves for class anyways, Sol-ji pouting as she did so.

“Meanie.” You were about to reply but a soft tap on your shoulder made you turn your head to the owner of the finger.

“Hey, Y/N.”

“Oh, Himchan.” Himchan was the secretary of the student union which you were the vice president

“I’m just reminding you about today’s emergency meeting at 2.”

“What happened?” You took out your water bottle, taking a sip as Himchan nervously scratched his head.

“Mi-woo’s sick.” You choked on a sip, you quickly coughing to recover. Minwoo, the president, hasn’t missed a meeting since she became a member and usually filled you in on what happened because you were typically late to meetings because of a certain someone.

“Are you alright?”

“It’s fine, how did she get sick?
“The annual cook-off, someone had the flu and everyone there got sick. I’m glad I hate cold cucumber soup.”

“Alright.”

“You can’t be late to the meeting this time, alright?”

“Okay.” You slumped in your seat as Himchan left the classroom, your professor entering at that moment.

“Look on the bright side, at least the meetings are just an hour long.” It was as if the universe heard Sol-ji’s words at that very moment and decided that today was the day it should mess with you.

You were on time because one of the other members spotted you and walked with you to the meeting room. It was going smoothly; the group was listening to you and you could see yourself wrapping up the meeting early until Himchan started discussing the holiday event for December and all hell broke loose. It was a shouting match and members shoving ideas at you as they angrily argued which idea was best for the student body. Mi-woo, you lucky wrench, you managed to avoid this. You ended the meeting about 30 minutes late, but your day wasn’t over yet.

One of the fine arts students that knew you through Jungkook needed a replacement model for her art piece and she had the largest puppy eyes (after Jungkook, of course. That boy gives you that look intentionally and unintentionally). You forced a smile as you agreed, and she happily dragged you into an art studio where she spent three hours to paint you, which didn’t look much like you but you didn’t have the heart to tell the girl. It was about 6 when you went out to the bus stop, waiting almost an hour for the bus and you missed your bed more as the bus ride went on.

You took the elevator up, going straight into your apartment and walking straight into the bedroom. You heard water running, your tired mind playing tricks on you as your head hit the pillow and you cuddled up to the sheets.

“Babe?” You were questioning your sanity when you thought you heard Jungkook’s voice and only made you want to sleep sooner.

“Babe, wake up.”

“Why does the universe hate me so much-” You sat up to see Jungkook sitting next to you and your faces were close enough that your nose brushed against his.

“Surprise?”

“Have I lost my mind?” He laughed, you blinked in response. Jungkook is here, alive and well while you were ready to pass out. Typical.

“Did you miss me that much?”

“It really is you, the same annoying Jungkook.”

“I thought you would be happier to see me.”

“And I thought I would be able to get some sleep.”

“I guess I could remove the towel to make things easier-”

“That’s not what I meant, horndog.”

“Okay, you’re cranky.”

“I had a long ass day and I just was some R&R.”

“You could at least change and take off your makeup.”

“I don’t really care, Jungkook.” You let your head fall back onto your pillow, Jungkook poking the back of your neck.

“That’s not good for your skin, baby.”

“I’m tired, Jungkook.” You heard him tsk at you, taking the sound as a sign of victory as he got up and walked somewhere else. You were barely entering the sleep cycle when you felt him yank the sheets off you and you snapped your eyes open and looked up at him.

“Rise and shine, sweetheart.”

“One day, I’m going to find out your weakness and kill you.”

“Did you eat a lot of sugar because it’s starting to melt into your personality.”

“You’re probably the meanest girlfriend on Earth.”

“I would be a lot nicer to you if you weren’t robbing me of my precious sleep time.”

“Can you at least sit up for me?” You sat up, cross-legged, for him regardless of your sharp tone with him and he pulled the makeup wipes off the nightstand. He sat in front of you

“Shut your eyes for me.” You did so, feeling the cold wipe run across your eyelids one by one and gently over your eyelashes. He ran a clean side of the wipe across your cheeks and lips before stopping.

“Jungkook.”

“You’re so beautiful.”

“So cheesy.”

“The prettiest girl that ever lived.”

“Quit it.”

“Why~ Your cheeks are burning, aren’t they?”

“Shut up!” He placed his hands on either side of your cheeks, verifying the heat in your cheeks as you tried to push him away.

“Your cheeks are going to leave a burn on my hands. You’re so cute when you’re embarrassed.”

“Meanie.”

“So that makes the two of us, two peas in a pod.”

“To think I missed you even in the slightest.”

“So you did miss me, huh?”

“Shut-” He cut you off, swallowing the syllables with his lips as he kissed you. Your hands grabbed handfuls of his shirt as one of his hands slipped to your side. He pulled away, you look away and Jungkook poked your cheek repeatedly.

“Should’ve known since you’re wearing my shirt anyways.” He pulled you into his lap, your arms resting on his shoulders and your hands playing with the ends of his obsidian hair.

“Why can’t you be cute and silent?”

“Because my sexy voice shouldn’t go to waste.”

“I can’t believe you just said that.”

“It’s true.” You sighed, how did you manage to find a guy like him? You placed your hand on his cheek, slowly caressing it with your thumb running across the smooth skin.

“I missed you so much, Y/N.” He pressed his lips again yours once again, his movements much more languid and gentle as his body molded into yours. He kissed away the tiredness of a long day, his touch awakened you and his presence made you feel whole.

“Welcome home.”

Summary: (Bucky POV) Nat tricks you into leading a road trip with Bucky, Sam and Steve. Her plot is partly to get the boys to travel for fun for once but mostly to get you and Bucky together. You and Bucky, who seemingly despise each other.

Warnings: swearing, super mild smoot (it’s not really even smut)

Author’s Note: This part is way too damn long. I really just like the ending. But I also couldn’t figure out what I wanted to cut so you’re getting all of it.

When we make it to the top of the trail and the edge of the parking lot, Steve looks to me with a shocked and unsure shrug, lifting his hands up in question. She barely speaks to anyone, only muttering a disgruntled, “Trunk, please” to Steve.

Once we’ve changed into dry clothes, Y/N tosses her now useless phone haphazardly into the trunk and grabs for her dated Atlas before slipping into the car without a word. She doesn’t move closer to me, she doesn’t look up from her Atlas. Goddamn it. She’s so upset. “Go left,” she instructs with a heavy sigh as she flips through the pages until she finds the map for South Dakota. She traces over an already marked road until it reaches the end of the page, before moving quickly over to Wyoming.

Adam Parrish works as a sober companion, but he has no idea of the storm that’s soon to hit him when Ronan Lynch turns out to be his newest client. (Or the one where Adam Parrish and Ronan Lynch are trapped underneath the same roof for six weeks.)*Ronan, to his surprise, opened his eyes. For a breathless moment, Adam was transfixed in them. They were the color of the ocean on the most azure of nights, lightning right before it struck the ground, damp hydrangeas on a fog-swept morning. Those eyes gave him chills.

this fic!! solidly one of my favorite fics! (although, i’m only recommending my favorites) ronan is a little more of an asshole than usual, but, it’s an AU so.. it works. the writing in this is lovely and poetic and leaves you hanging off of every word.

PART 1

~*~*~*~*~

Friday arrives much faster than anticipated. It’s a warm, brisk morning, the sunlight raining down and painting  Massachusetts with a summery essence. Fallen leaves litter the yards of suburban homes and a canopy of those that remain is spread across the road, only a few dots of light peering through.

“Textbook illustration of the apple-pie life.” Dean remarks as he steers the car down a long strip of tarmac. “God…it’s making me sick already.”

“Hold it down. You know I don’t want you throwing up on any of my family members.” Y/N admonishes, letting her gaze avert from watching the houses roll by and unto the elder Winchester; today, despite her attempts to persuade him,  he’s still settled on wearing his usual hunter get-up—jeans and a plaid (obviously)—and his chin is adorned with a feint patch of stubble. His eyes are set on the road, focused, but she don’t miss the way his mouth quirks up at the remark.

Sam laughs as his eyes follow the array of little homes. “Noted.” He says. “Anything else Dean needs to know should probably be voiced out right now. You don’t want him making a fool out of himself around your family either.”

“We talked about this already last night.” The elder Winchester groans.

“No cussing around my mom, no crude jokes, saying the grace is a must, and—“

“And be sure to talk politics with your dad. Yes, I got all of that the first hundred times you told me.” Dean, rolling his eyes, makes a turn for the left and Y/N heaves a sigh of relief. They pass a group fo teenagers walking to school (way too late).

“Okay.” Y/N sighs, then raises her finger for emphasis. “Oh—also, be sure to try and interact with all my brothers. They love that.”

“We’ve met your family before, Y/N.” Sam’s eyes never leave his screen as he twiddles away at his phone.

They had; at the birth of her hunting career with the boys, years back, Y/N had had to make trip down to Massachusetts to handle a siren case that the Winchester’s provided extra muscle for. Their time in town had been spent at her parents’ home.

“I know, but this is different.” She defends. “Dean is….” She pauses, eyes skittering over to the elder Winchester for not so much as a second before they return. “….my boyfriend. Or pretending to be my boyfriend. There’s going to be a lot of pressure.”

“Your folks don’t seem like the type.”

“I just want to rub it in their faces that I’m.”—she raises her hands in finger quotes—“not single anymore so that they’ll get off my case.”

The elder Winchester nods slowly, pulling a face. “Makes sense.”

“Not really.”

“Shut up, Sam.”

The younger Winchester finally lifts his head from his phone. His gaze bounces from Y/N to Dean. “What did Cas say, by the way?”

“About tagging along?” Dean casts a brief glance into the backseat. “Not much. He said that he doesn’t see why we need him there anyway. I told him Y/N’s sister was getting married and she gets to bring a couple of friends, and seeing as we’re the only ones she has…” He trails off. Y/N then smacks him on the shoulder, earning a satisfied smile. “I’m kidding. Kind of. I told him that we want him to come with.”

“And he said no?”

Dean shrugs and continues to drive. The conversation ends there for a moment, and once a silence spreads throughout the car, Dean tunes the radio on and Y/N turns her head to the window.

Trees and houses and roads oh so familiar from her childhood escapades through this tone roll by. Streets, cafes. Although vast and very busy, she knows this place like the back of her hand; the local pool where their family used to go on weekends, the private schools she bounced between. Just down the road, wedged in the valley nearby are the woods where she encountered her first monster at the tender age of sixteen.

So many memories. So much attachment. Y/N hates Massachusetts more than anything; because it reminds her of how idyllic her life was before she started hunting. It reminds her of people and of places and everything the rest of her peers experienced that she didn’t get to; hunting whisked her away from her life, stripped her of a regular teenage hood. But then again, she’s not complaining.

She chose this life. She chose Sam and Dean. She loves Sam and Dean. You can tell her that the sky is red and that pigs fly and she’ll still believe all that first before she believes that they boys are anything but her family.

Boston is a few kilometers off the highway, down a winding road lined by thick trees and shrubbery, and with a few residential buildings scattered around. Despite being a large neighborhood dotted with mansions and the like, it’s a lot quieter. The rumble of the Impala’s engine is evident as Dean, instructed by Y/N, steers his way through. The outline of the city is painted against the canvas of the bright blue sky as they approach. The traffic, taken the time of day, is minimal and so they manage to get to the hotel in time.

In the parking, Dean kills the engine immediately, and then, heaving a heavy sigh, turns to Y/N.

His face speaks no ounce of nervousness, which only makes the young girl’s stomach coil into a tighter knot. She wants him to be nervous. One of them has to, and Dean’s placidity leaves room for only her own anxiety. “So….?”

“So…” She replies, trying to ease away her own nerves. Her hands feel clammy and the back of her neck is hot.  “Just don’t be nervous, yeah? My parents are like predators—they can smell your anxiety a mile away.”

“Not helping.”

“Not supposed to.”

“I feel like I should be telling that you, Y/N.” Dean remarks. “You’re shaking like a leaf.”

“No, I’m not.” She is. It’s a terrible lie and very evidently so, but thankfully none of the boys say anything. Instead, however, Dean reaches out and envelopes her hand in his. Y/N then stills, and feels the color drain from her face.

The contact is warm, assuring. Her hands slides perfectly into his and their fingers intertwine, palms pressed flat.

“We’re gonna kick ass.” Dean says confidently. Y/N doesn’t hear him—she’s looking at him, staring him dead in the eye, but the words enter one ear and fly out the other because her hand is in his and it’s nice.

It’s nice.

They’ve never held hands before, not like this. Dean guiding her through a dark path on a hunt, Y/N pulling him with her as she runs from a vampire. Their hands have definitely touched before, and their skin has definitely grazed before, but this is so alien to Y/N, because it feels nice and like everything that it’s not supposed to.

Dean stares into the young girl’s gaze as he tugs on her hand, offering a brief smile. “Come on.” He goes to open the door. “We’re gonna be late.”

Once his hand leaves hers, it’s like her trance has been diminished, like spell once cast over her has been broken. She floats back to reality. Sam is hauling their bags out from the trunk, she realizes, and Dean is trying to fit as many weapons into his luggage (just in case) as he can. She quickly gets out. The hotel, adorned with a very tropical theme, is down a strip of cobbled path with a few plants at the sides. Y/N follows the Winchesters, trying to keep the pace, when she hears Dean call to her.

She turns. “Huh?”

“Give me your bag.” He says, his hand open as they walk. Y/N stares at him for a moment, eyes glazed over. She’s still a bit dazed. Looking at Dean now feels alien and almost unreal, like she’s looking in one of those funny funhouse mirrors. Maybe it’s just the stress of this wedding, or the heat, she thinks, trying to brush it off

“Oh, uhm.”

“I got it.”But before she can speak, Sam plucks the rucksack from her and hoists it up on his back. Dean scoffs.

“Wow, Sam.”He rolls his eyes as they approach the hotel. Towering above them, it’s a giant of a building, quaint balconies perched up on room, it’s years and history written out in the way vines climb in slender tendrils along the stone walls. Inside, the ceiling climbs so high one might think it reaches the heavens

“Maybe Y/N should have asked you to play her boyfriend instead.” Dean remarks as they stroll in. The place is packed; an eclectic cloud of people roams the room, all with their luggage in hand.

Sam smirks. “Maybe she should have.”

“The reception’s over there.”

Y/N points to the desk ahead. Shuffling through the crowd, the trio makes their way over to the counter, the receptionist smiling at them. She’s young, probably older than them, but still her skin is taut and plump and her brown eyes gleam as she speaks. She types something into the computer and in a moment heir rooms are assigned, all courtesy of her family. Sam has agreed to carry everything upstairs and meet them at the lounge, so Y/N and Dean decide the time alone can be used to go over their ground rules again.

They wander over to the bar, a noticeable distance between them. The room is ambient, lit up by little warm lights suspended from the high-set ceiling despite it being day. Slow jazz music floats through the crowded room. As soon as they settle down, swarming like locusts in a field, the waiters come over, all trying to fix a menu in their faces until Dean ushers them away and says that they’re not hungry. Y/N is a little bit disappointed—she hasn’t eaten all morning—but says nothing, instead focusing on the man before her.

“Can I cuss around your sister?” Dean asks as he leans back in his seat.

Y/N nods vigorously, her expression saying that the answer is quite obvious. “S/P/N’s got a mouth like a sailor. A little profanity won’t hurt. Not around my parents though.”

“Not around your mum…?”

“Not around either.” She says. “They hate it, think it makes you look delinquent.”

Dean nods thoughtfully, then goes on asking various questions. Time seems to drift by unnoticed, the conversation bouncing from one end to another like a ball in a tennis court.

“Can I drink?”

“Sure.”

“Smoke…?”

Y/N wrinkles her brow in uncertainty. “You don’t smoke.” She says; it’s a firm statement, a proclamation rather than a question

“But if I had to?“

“Fine.” The young girl lets out an exaggerated sigh.  Dean chuckles. The sound is precise and brief but still manages to bring a shy smile to her face.  Moments later, the table has quieted for some reason, so Y/N lifts her gaze to Dean, regarding him curiously. She knows that look—it’s hard not to when she’s seen it so many times, with Sam or Cas, or even first hand. Gaze set on the floor, his lip is tucked between his teeth and he runs his tongue over his lips, his contemplation evident until he finally looks up.

“So,” The elder finally allows their eyes to meet. “What about us? You know…our boundaries, instructions. Do’s and don’ts. What do we say if we get the stereotypical how did you meet quiz?”

“Doesn’t really matter.” She waves a dismissive hand and then leans back in her seat. The fiber of the backrest presses into her back, crackling quietly. “My parents already know we met through hunting, but we could always just use some other cover with my other relatives.”

“So we lie?”

She quirks a teasing brow and smiles. “You have no problem lying that you’re an FBI agent basically every day. Lying that you met me on vacation or something can’t really be that hard…?”

“Where was our vacation to?”

“So we’re settling on the vacation-thing?”

Dean shrugs. “Any other options? I’m sorta just following here. It’s your plan.”

“Don’t say it like that. We’re a team, Dean.”

“Right, almost forgot that.” The elder Winchester chuckles and shakes his head. “Okay. What if we met on unconventional grounds? Maybe I nearly ran your dog over and you got pissed, so you tried flagging down my car and threatened to press charges. You didn’t, of course. My good looks and wit managed to persuade you into changing your mind and just having dinner with me instead.”

Y/N rolls her eyes at the green-eyed hunter, her mouth quirked upwards. “Is that your definition of romance? It sounds like bad lifetime movie.”

“It’s realistic.”

“It’s dumb.”

Dean pouts, then folds his arms and leans back in the chair. “Whatever.” He grumbles. “You think something up then.”

“Vacation it is.”

“You’re insufferable.”

A wide grin stretches across Y/N’s face and she revels in the victory, when Sam walks up. He comes up from behind her, the only indication of his arrival being the way Dean’s eyes dart to the space past her seat.

“You guys aren’t eating?”  He asks, pulling out a seat from the table nearby. He sits and turns to Dean.

“Do you want to?” The elder Winchester looks to Y/N—he’s asking her.

Opening her mouth to speak, she’s about to decline (because they don’t have time to sit and eat anyway), but the grumbling in her stomach reminds her of her hunger. The sound is embarrassingly loud. Her mouth instantly shuts, and Dean’s eyes widen.

“Shut up.” Y/N chastises as her cheeks are swarmed with pink. The elder Winchester doesn’t listen. He begins to howl with laughter, clasping his stomach, and Sam snickers along with him.

“Whatever.” She turns her head, scowling, as his laughter begins to melt away. Leaning back in his seat, little bubbles of laughter escape him, and he lifts his hand.

“Waiter.”He calls. A few feet away, with long curly blond hair, one of the servers from earlier turns. Dean’s ruddy face smiles at him as he calls him over. He scuttles over, a polite smile on his face.

“Yes, sir?”

“What do you want, Y/N?” Dean’s voice is ribbing and smug.

“Shut up.” The young girl rolls her eyes and turns her attention to the waiter. He’s young and his face is dotted with little pink spots of acne. She orders a chicken salad, just like Sam, and Dean goes for stake. Moments later, the food arrives, hot and scented with herbs and spices.

They eat and then, stuffed and satisfied, head up to their rooms to get cleaned up. Y/N just got a call from her parents asking where they are, that they’ve been waiting on them for a while now and everyone is already arriving

when they finally get to their room, Sam waiting out in the hallway, she and the elder Winchester hurry to get ready. Y/N curls her hair and throws on some mascara while Dean runs a quick shower.

“Okay, this is it.” She says, standing by the bed; the light from outside floods the area, bringing out the very delicate and chic design: the walls, painted mocha brown, are adorned with little trinkets and the bedspread is a light toffee color. There’s a potted palm in one of the corners, candles practically everywhere, and the wooden floor is warm beneath her bare feet.

“Operation Wedding Crasher is in pursuit.” Y/N says to Dean

Standing in the bathroom, he’s just gotten out of the shower and is trying to fix his hair, running his fingers through it and muttering profanities beneath his breath. She’d insisted that he changed—taken how many outfits he’s recycled, she’s pretty sure he wore that very one years ago when he first met her parents

“Roger that.” He takes one last look in the mirror, checking his stubble and hair, then walks over to the bed where his shirt sits.

Y/N tries not to stare at his bare-chested form as he quickly slips on the shirt, the front undone and exposing his caramel-colored skin. Instead, she clears her throat and turns away. This is the only way; if she doesn’t, she’s going to end up drooling a puddle on the floor or letting her gaze linger for too long, and that’s the last thing she needs right now. As if things weren’t awkward enough back in the car.

She then looks down at her hand, once encased in Dean’s, the marks from her battles with monster’s still there. There’s a little crescent shaped scar sticking out in her palm that speaks of a hunt years ago, a hunt with a rugaroo that ended in tears and blood and Y/N clasping onto Dean’s shirt for dear life. It’s hard to forget. She can recall getting it, can remember the pain of having to kill that young girl because of the abomination she had come, can still taste the blood on her tongue and feel the pain in her hand.

This life has left her with various moments like that. It’s a packaged deal when you’re a hunter, a sort of terms-and-conditions scenario, to have at least one hunt that has managed to strip you of normality. Something that took you over the line that separates you from the regular world—that was it for Y/N. She was it. That girl couldn’t have been older than seventeen. Having her blood on her hands had definitely been the initiation into the hunter’s game for Y/N.

She has been through so much in her time as a hunter and it shows; on her face and on her body. On her hands. She runs a finger along the tissue, watching it intently. Dean is speaking in the background, saying something to her that she can’t decipher because she forgets to for a moment, until the memory nudges at her conscience once more. The rugaroo hunt. Her scar.

It had been Dean to help her that night. It had been him and his nobility to carry her out of that house before she could bleed out; it had been him and his care, his selflessness, that got her to the car parked miles away from the woods they were in; it had been Dean to stop the bleeding and the tears that seemed to rain from her eyes after she killed that young girl and it had been his hands to cloth the wound in her own.

It had been and it will always be Dean, because Dean is her family.

“Y/N?” He says, pulling her from her reverie.

The young girl immediately looks up and whips around, facing the elder Winchester who is already dressed and ready to go. Y/N’s eyes widen; she doesn’t say it, but the outfit change was definitely a good idea.

Because wow.

Her eyes rake up and down the green-eyed hunter’s structure, taking in the sight of his crisp burgundy button up and dress pants—he looks stunning. He always looks stunning. It’s not weird for Y/N to say because it’s Dean and everyone notices his attractiveness upon first encounter, but this is a whole different case. It’s still him, of course. His eyes are still vibrant green, breaching into a hazel-gold, and his hair is still chestnut brown and his smile and his heart and everything Dean Winchester is still evidently there, but it’s just…different, like looking at the same thing but from a different angle.

“Uhm…” He draws out after a while.

Y/N looks back up to his eyes; her face then flushes and she swallows. “Sorry, uh” She stumbles, clasping her hands together and trying to regain her composure”—you were saying?”

Dean is smirking. “I look that good, huh?”

“Oh, shut up.”

He chuckles. The first few buttons of his shirt are popped and you can see a patch of caramel-tinted skin peering out at you, a feint scar on his collarbone adding some extra touch. “I was saying that we should get going. Sam’s already waiting up for us.”

“Right. Uhm, so we’ve gone over everything, yeah? You get the plan?”

“Yes. Act like we’re dating.”

“Act like we’re in love.” Y/N corrects as she grabs her satchel from the bed and goes to Dean at the door. She stands, body facing him. “There’s a big difference. My parents are going to be all over my case for these two weeks if they see that you and I don’t have any chemistry.”

“We already do, though.” He defends.

“Whatever. Then let’s amp it up—mega chemistry.”

“Mega chemistry, huh?”

“Yeah.” She smiles; it’s goofy and a bit shy because, God, did she really just say that?

But Dean doesn’t seem to mind, because his lips turn up to and he shakes his head. “Dork.”

“Let’s go.”

Y/N goes to open the door, her hand hovering right above the knob when Dean cuts in.

“Can I hold your hand?” He asks.

The young girl then stills and her hand floats away from the door. She stares at him; his voice is calm and collected, like he’s asking her what’s the time or how she is.

“You…want to hold my hand?” Y/N’s uncertainty is evident.

Shrugging, he pulls a face, an expression that says no duh, why not.“Yeah.” He answers. “We are trying to portray that mega-chemistry, aren’t we?”

“We are.”

“Yeah…so.”

She feels him reach out, like it’s happening in slow motion, like she can’t do anything, and take her hand in his. Their skin grazes and fingers lace. His hand is far bigger than hers, rougher, too, but it’s a satisfying contrast as the butterflies in her chest are roused.

Dean’s smile is ribbing and smug and Y/N’s heart is in her as she feels her palms clam up. He opens the door and they step out into the hallway, the heat immediately smacking onto them. Sam is leaning against the wall, typing away at his phones, and he looks up when he notices their presence.

A smile twists at his lips. “There’s the happy couple.”

“Shut it.” Dean says, smirking as they begin to saunter down the strip of corridor.  Y/N is trying to mollify her feelings, rinsing them away, trying to rationalize why they’re even here in the first place. They shouldn’t be. She shouldn’t be getting so worked up over something like this, but it’s hard to. The past few days, with this wedding situation overhead, have been nerve-wracking—could that be it? she wonders. Could those anxieties be the cause of her frazzled emotions?

But she doesn’t have time to ruminate. The elevator takes them to the ground floor and they shuffle out once the doors open, Sam and Dean talking about how weirdly excited they are about meeting Y/N’s family as they walk through the ballroom and then out into the garden. . Picnic benches are set up across the expanse of greenery and evergreen trees sprout from the ground all around. There are cobbled paths through and fairy lights (currently off) strung up between branches willows. She remembers this place from when her dad would bring her along on workshops and send her out here to play.

Y/N notices her mother first.

Her hair is an ashy blond, curled into a bob, and she’s wearing a white caftan and jeans. She’s smiling, laughing at the table cluttered with familiar faces. Only about two or three people are strangers to her.

Then, as if instinctively, she clutches Dean’s hand tighter in hers. He then casts a brief glance at her, one of caution, worry, almost, and Y/N meets his gaze.

“I’m nervous.” She admits, visibly gulping.

His eyes regard her curiously. “Why?”

If only she knew. But she doesn’t, so Y/N only shrugs and looks back ahead. When they’re a few feet away from the table, that’s when S/P/N notices them because, gleaming like the sun in a salmon colored dress, she rises from her seat and welcomes them with a smile.

“Y/N!”

A/N: This is for the One Prompt For All Dean Challenge, hosted by the lovely Beka @impala-dreamer This challenge was great, and I’ve been so excited to post this. The prompt is the very first line of the fic. I hope you all like it - and I’d love to hear what you thought, so if you care to drop me a line… I’m curious. :-)

Pairing: Dean x reader

Warnings: Angst, fluff, language, implied smut, unexpected pregnancy, talk of abortion, vomiting, implied canon-typical violence, and I hope I didn’t forget anything.

Word count: ~2700

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to kill me.”

You flushed the toilet, refusing to see the breakfast you had just thrown up.

“Who’s trying to kill you Y/N?”

Your kid is, you thought as you rested your head back against the tub and wiped your mouth on the nearest towel.

“What did you say?”

You whipped your head around, meeting Dean’s eyes in the mirror as you frantically tried to think if you really said it out loud. But his eyes were more amused than alarmed, so you mustn’t have. What a relief.

A/N:   Request from @btrombley13:  You should write a Gaston x reader where, much like Belle, he just keeps trying to win her over but the reader just keeps denying. Maybe where the reader continously teases him, whether it’s by joking with him or wearing a dress which just compliments the reader in best ways. I just thought that would be funny and actually kind of cute. Cause lets face it, Luke Evans Gaston is amazing ^_^ have a good day :)

A/N: Sure! Of course! I hope this was what you were looking for!!

For years, Gaston offered you his heart and hand, but you would respectfully decline his wish. You liked Gaston and all, but you feared of settling. You didn’t want to settle to early on in life. You were young and ambitious. Plus, Gaston and you have been companions longer then before Gaston showed you signs of love. You also didn’t want to see that kindled relationship be destroyed if things fell through. Gaston, on the other hand, knew he had you reeled in, it only just a matter of time. But since you and Gaston were still only friends, you were certainly not shy from the idea of messing with one another.

{masterlist}

You had been in awkward car rides before.  There was the time that eight year old you threw up all over your friend’s cute older brother on a family road trip, or the time when you had accompanied your cousin and his girlfriend on a lake trip where she said no when he asked her to marry him.  Once, on a high school band trip, you accidentally gave a boy a boner the night before travelling home, and spent the rest of the next day avoiding him over the entirety of the bus and the plane rides with the help of your friends.  All of those experiences were sufficiently awkward, but, you had come to learn, none of them compared to the bus ride back to Columbia after you discovered that your biology partner was Spider-Man.

Each of you were tense in your stance, not allowing any parts of your body to touch the other, even on the small faux leather seat.  You kept your gaze glued to the scenery outside your window, watching as the trees by the side of the road flew by.  You were hyper aware of Peter next to you as he sat with his arms crossed, eyes firmly staring at his planted feet.  He hadn’t shifted since you had settled into your seats an hour and a half ago, and neither had you.  In your mind, you couldn’t help but reply the event that had unfolded in the cave, your discovery, and what had followed.

I can feel everywhere that our skin meets like I’m glued to her smooth warmth, her cheek pressed flat against my chest, eyes closed, her fingertips lightly tracing over my neck and shoulders, occasionally sending a shiver running across my entire body. I don’t want to move or think, I just want it to be quiet like this, swirling lazy circles over her back like this. This is how it should have been days ago, this is how close I want her all the time.

  • “hey how much cash you got on you” she asks
  • you smirk and answer “seventeen”
  • svt was your ulti group, you’d been a carat since adore u and your one goal in life: seeing seventeen live
  • she groans but laughs at your weird facial expressions, “STOP. But really though?”
  • “seventeen teen teen”
  • she takes the bottle of water she was holding and smacks your arms, not so gently
  • “oh my godeeuuuu”
  • she almost smacks you again at your seventeen reference
  • by now all your friends knew of svt
  • you glanced down at your wrist, a habit formed from years of checking
  • the clock was still going and it was easy to tell ten minutes had passed since leaving the hotel
  • you used it often to keep track of time
  • even though you knew its real purpose
  • to stop the moment you met your soulmate
  • you’d never really been interested in searching like other of your friends have
  • going around randomly, looking at the clock on your wrist and waiting for it to stop
  • it didn’t sound very… romantic
  • at that moment thirteen guys are three aisles over arguing over what kind of ramen they should buy
  • “mingyu-yah get this one”
  • “no no i trust jisoo hyung he’s probably had all the american ramen before”
  • mingyu kind of just blanks them out and stares at the two brands lost in thought
  • suddenly he hears something and speaks,
  • “seungkwan-ah did you hear someone say seventeen teen teen and oh my godeu”
  • the argument over ramen ceases
  • “ayeee mingyu what kinda shit you saying now, you must be really hungry”
  • “no no no hyung i feel weird”

  • the others shake the thought off as they resume arguing, only a few of the members notice mingyu setting the ramen down and walking down the aisle
  • meanwhile you and your friend ignore the commotion, too busy with your own

  • going straight to where they have the hot cheetos, you grab two bags
  • “hey you want any other-”

  • you back up and look up to apologize
  • and then jump in shock
  • getting a look at his face you realize,
  • “holy fucking shit, kill me now”
  • “ah i’m sorry” he says distractedly in an incredibly cute accent
  • you’re screaming internally, though for all you know you could have been screaming aloud
  • are you seeing things? bc this must be one hell of a dream
  • that’s the only explanation of why kim mingyu is standing in front of you at a freaking convenience store
  • fate isn’t playing some kind of cruel trick on you right?
  • everything in your brain clicks together and of course i first thing you say is,
  • “i’m really sorry to ask you this but i’m a carat and i really love seventeen and your music and i’d really like it if you could like sign?”
  • these words rush out your mouth way to fast for his comprehension
  • he laughs confusedly and smiles, “carat?”
  • you almost slap your forehead, how embarrassing can you get
  • “yes, can you sign?”
  • he smiles, “yes”
  • you thank the lord for this one moment where you didn’t clean out your purse and pull out a sharpie
  • showing him your clear phone case you hold out the sharpie to him
  • he takes this moment to look at your wrist subconsciously, something he’s done most of his life when meeting people
  • he feels conflicted, when he also sees a timer on your wrist which has stopped
  • because although he can’t really speak that much english, he thinks you’re really pretty
  • so he kind of just ignores it,
  • thinking you already found your soulmate and couldn’t possibly be his
  • unknown to you, he recognized your voice from the seventeen teen teen earlier
  • grabbing the pen, he takes another habitual glimpse at his own wrist before he signs
  • you hear the pen hit the floor and feel lost
  • “um -”
  • “OH MY GOD”
  • he yells something in korean which you barely understand
  • twelve other boys come tumbling through the aisles yelling
  • you’re going to have a heart attack
  • in a split second your head registers exactly who is in front of you
  • mother effing seventeen teen teen
  • aka the people who give you heart attacks on a daily basis
  • aka your one goal in life
  • mingyu talks quickly to all them, glancing back at you every second
  • you’re still standing there frozen in shock, like wtf just happened
  • and tbh you’re still confused on what they’re doing/ talking about
  • until
  • joshua smiles at you and grins
  • “you’ve just met your soulmate”
  • your first reaction: “?!?!?!"
  • and immediately to look at your wrist and notice the timer has in fact stopped
  • you suddenly can’t breathe and both you and mingyu make eye contact
  • holding three packs of ramen your friend comes beside you
  • “what’d i miss?”
  • “everything girl. fucking everything.”
  • despite the almost movie like encounter, you and mingyu had some problems
  • to name a few,
  • he’s an idol
  • your a college student
  • um, language barrier
  • pretty sure you have to know more than annyeonghaseyo & saranghae
  • you show you friend you wrist and the first thing she does is squeals, grab both your hands and jump up and down
  • “OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!! you know what! y’all spend time together, get to know one another WHATEVER, i’ll pay for everything! you come back to the hotel whenever!”
  • she leaves giving you a hug and waving bye to the seventeen boys
  • suddenly this whole thing hits you, like damn these aren’t just some people you stare at from a screen, you guys actually have a personal connection
  • “so um annyeonghasyo? my name’s y/n”
  • you are surprisingly able to be composed
  • the smile doesn’t fall from his face
  • “kim mingyu”
  • seungkwan starts saying something and everyone starts talking
  • somehow joshua and vernon get your phone and type in mingyus number plus adding everyones too
  • you get five minutes together before they have to leave
  • because of the language barrier, you both can’t say as much as you want
  • “i’ll try my very best to learn korean, soulmate”
  • “i try best at english?” mingyu says cutely
  • you laugh, and the time together comes to an end when their manager calls them home
  • with a leap of boldness, you wrap your arms around his waist tightly
  • you feel him stiffen but then wrap his arms around your shoulder tightly
  • suddenly you feel yourself being lift off the ground
  • “KIM MINGYU” you screech, giggling
  • he sets you down with a grin on his face
  • “annyeong soulmate~” his to his members who are loudly saying stuff a mingyu
  • before he walks out he turns around one last time and lifts his phone to his ears yelling something in korean
  • “CALL ME!!”

“This is not good. Oh, oh Lord, this is not good at all.”

Bitty peers through the windshield. The snow is falling in curtains now, thick sheets of white that drift down heavy and soft onto the deserted highway. He runs his wipers a few more times, clears the view, then watches as the snow repaints it dot by frigid dot.

He should have known better than to think he could drive up to Massachusetts with a storm approaching. He should have canceled the trip, postponed it, made other plans. But the promise of a real white Christmas had sounded so intriguing, and Larissa had begged him to make the trip.

“You’ll like Samwell,” she’d told him. “It’s pretty sweet.” Which, from Larissa, was the equivalent of singing its praises from the rooftops. And the pictures she sent were so nice – long flowing river, pond, green spaces on the local college campus coated with a dusting of snow.

What he wouldn’t give for a dusting now!  But no, now, he’s stopped by the side of the highway, Samwell a mere two miles away per the last sign he passed, his own fog lamps the only glare in the sea of white outside.

This morning is a battle. It’s a battle to focus on really anything but Y/N. I’m just not sure what to make of any of this. I have no idea what she’s thinking while she flits around the campsite packing up the sleeping bags and tent while Sam works on breakfast. She doesn’t seem any warmer to me than she is to Sam, playfully dodging his reach when she steals a piece of bacon, or than when she grabs Steve’s arm to get an extra lift to push the tent bag on top of the car. I can’t figure out if this morning was just a weird thing in an emotional moment or if it was something more.

It’s also a battle over the next stop. She’s sitting stubbornly on the picnic table holding her atlas while Sam begs her to get in the car. Steve is rolling his eyes and I’m barely holding back my laughter.

“Come on! You’re being such a princess!” Sam scoffs, “Get in the car.”

“No! Vegas is not part of the plan!” She shouts back defiantly.
