@rootenist - I just reblogged your contest post (@tootenist) and I was wondering if you could do a fic where Spock and his s/o are on a diplomatic mission but the place they were going gets attacked and they get separated. Spock has to try and find her before whoever attacked them does. (If I did the contest thing wrong just ignore this 😅)
Word Count: 2544 Author’s Note: I took some liberties, and Spock and reader aren’t actually in a relationship. Yet ;) Also, I couldn’t find a definitive confirmation of the Vulcan word I used actually being canon, but I used it anyhow. And finally, this fic kinda got away from me, and is longer than anticipated. I’m sure you are all very disappointed in that. Uh, also, totally made up the aliens because sometimes new aliens are the easiest to vilify.
“I’m still not quite sure what we’re doing?” You asked as you fastened your safety belt in the shuttle.
“The Creatotians are extremely literal. They do not understand analogy, or symbolism at all. Jim assigned me to be the negotiator for the peace treaty between the two factions that are warring on Creatotia. He did not want to risk an agreement that was not clearly understood by both sides,” Spock explained.
“I know, I get that,” you replied. “What I don’t get is why I have to come?”
“You are the woman on board I am most comfortable with, and I am in need of a spouse,” Spock explained. You choked and stared at him.
“What?” You sputtered.
“Obviously, Y/N, we are not wed,” Spock clarified. “But the Creatotians were very clear about the parametres of what made an acceptable negotiator. And mated was one of the specifications. As I was qualified in all the other areas, the captain chose to blur the lines, so to speak, and hope they do not notice we are not, in fact, a couple.”
“So I fake being your wife, and we can be off this rock quickly?” You asked. Spock nodded slightly.
“That is the idea, Ashayem,” he agreed. “I am uncertain about how much the Creatotians know about Vulcans, but you should know that we are not as physically affectionate as humans.”
“I’ve been working with you for months now, Spock,” you countered. “I’d figured that out. But what about affectionate nicknames?”
“No.” Spock’s response was immediate. You laughed.
x Spock. Prompt: Anon requested - Hello, I want to
request a fic where the reader is in a (new) relationship with Bones or Spock
(your choice). No one knows she should be on long-term meds to prevent migraine
attacks. She asks Spock to teach her Vulcan mediation techniques to battle the attacks
(but doesn’t tell him why). It doesn’t go well. Bones keeps her in med bay / on
bed rest in her quarters (maybe Spock can help with the treatment?). They kinda
police her med intake until she’s more comfortable having to take them. THX! Word Count: 3702.
Warnings:None. Rating:All ages. Author’s Note: To the lovely Anon I
had the pleasure of chatting with the other day who felt like Spock wasn’t
getting enough love – I hope this is good!
It was that conversation that swayed me towards writing Spock for this
one instead of Bones, and I hope I’ve done him justice!
You sit curled up against Spock’s side, enjoying the slight chill he’s giving
off as the beginnings of what you’re sure is going to be a terrible migraine
throb behind your eyes. Your neck feels
tight, the lights too bright, and the nearly-inaudible background hum of the
warp core far too loud as your stomach turns: the auras are old news to you by
now, you’ve been suffering from migraines since the age of fourteen, and lately
they’ve been intensifying and coming nearly daily.
“Hey Spock?” You say softly, your own
voice echoing in your head and egging the headache on.
“Yes, ashayam?” He asks, making
your lips curl into a small smile at the term of endearment.
“I was wondering, can you teach me to meditate?” You murmur.
He pauses momentarily as though considering what possible motivations you might
have to want to learn the art of Vulcan meditation.
“Of course,” he replies. “Is there any
particular reason why you would like to learn?”
You shake your head, feeling the pain throb and reach out further, taking over
you. It’s all you can do to keep from
throwing up on the spot as black spots dance in your vision.
“No,” you say in what you hope is a light and conversational tone. “It might just be nice to be able to turn my
mind off for a while sometimes. Maybe
it’ll help me worry less and detach myself from my work a bit.”
A little fic of the reader telling Spock that she is pregnant!
You and Spock arrive back on the Enterprise after a grueling
mission. The planet, which was supposed to be devoid of intelligent life, apparently
had plants that were sentient. Once you had beamed down to the planet, the plants
had started to attack the landing crew, killing two of the security officers,
and only allowing enough time for you, Spock, and the remaining security
officer to be beamed back on board. You hadn’t had the chance to tell Spock
that you were pregnant, the Captain had commed you, telling you that you were
going planet-side. So the two of you arrived back on the ship, covered in the
security officers blood, sweat, and pollen, you were completely exhausted. When
you had gone to Bones about the fatigue he had informed you that because Vulcan’s
had copper-based blood, the baby was taking up all of the copper in your blood.
He had prescribed you copper supplements, but running through dense plant life
that was trying to kill you was still exhausting.
“I gotta sit down for a minute, babe” you whisper, sinking
into a recently vacated chair.
“Are you well, ashayam?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, just really tired”
“You have been experiencing periods of exhaustion 62.37%
more often within the past 8 weeks then you have previously experienced” the
Vulcan crouched in front of you, taking your hands into his.
“I went to see Bones, he said that it isn’t anything to
worry about. He said it was normal”
“The Doctor McCoy must be mistaken. This form of exhaustion is
not normal for humans” Spock stood up, pulling you with him, “We must go to
Medbay, Doctor McCoy will reevaluate you”
“Spock! There’s no need to go on a war path. I have
something I wanted to tell you anyway”
Spock pauses turning back to look at you, his brow slightly
furrowed, “What is it? You aren’t … sick, are you?”
You chuckle, shifting your hand into a Vulcan kiss, which
Spock readily returns, “No, babe, I’m not sick. I’m pregnant”
The only visible reaction that you can see is Spock’s eyes
widen slightly, “You are – you are …” Spock clears his throat, “You are with
child?” You burst into laughter, taking one of Spock’s hand in both of yours, “You
are carrying our child and yet you went on the away mission with me?!”
You can’t help but grin when Spock raises his voice, you
know that he will beat himself up about showing emotion later, but right now it
is hilarious. Suddenly Spock scoops you up into his arms, “I will take you to
Medical, I will require Doctor McCoy to check on you and the child. There is a
possibility that the stress of being transported and fleeing from the sentient
plants ash affected either you or the child.”
You wrap your arms around Spock’s neck, “It’s alright. I was
careful out there. I wouldn’t have gone if the Captain hadn’t ordered it. I
mean I didn’t think the plants were going to try and kill us, but the baby in
fine. We have to go see Bones anyway for the post-mission physical. He is
probably going to want a sample of the pollen.”
Spock just lengthened his stride, “Leonard will have to get
his samples from me, you must shower and be rid of the pollen”
You just quietly relax back into Spock’s arms, still amused
over his fussing and enjoy the ride to medical.
Bones agrees with Spock once we arrive. He wants you to get
the pollen off of you as soon as possible, and then he will do an ultrasound to
check on the fetus.
After your shower you walk back out into Medbay and hop onto
a biobed next to Spock’s. Bones is just finishing up the physical and is
ushered to the shower.
“Now that the hobgoblin is taken care of, let’s get your
physical taken care of, then we can check on your little one.”
Bones is quick to go through the physical, so by the time he
is done, Spock is coming out of the shower, dressed in a new uniform. Spock
walks over to you and stands beside you while Bones gets the machine ready for
“You should be able to hear the heartbeat, and … here … we …
You smile as Bones pulls up the image, the baby is nothing
but a little dot, nothing is distinguishable, but you can hear the heartbeat.
You glance over when Bones starts up the sound, and watch Spock’s eyes widen.
He stares at the image, one of his hands reaching over to ghost over your
“That is our child’s heartbeat, ashayam”
“I know, Spock. It’s beautiful isn’t it?”
Spock nods mutely, still unable to tear his eyes away from
the screen. You can already tell that Spock isn’t going to leave you alone for
the entire duration of your pregnancy.
“I will inform the Captain that you are no longer available for
missions, and that you will only be on light duty once you reach 5 months of
You chuckle, “I’m pretty sure I can still preform my duties
“Illogical, you shall be severely limited in movement as the
child grows. You will also need rest in order avoid risks of preeclampsia”
You reach pulling Spock into a kiss, at the same time
brushing your fingers against his. “I can’t really tell if that was supposed to
be sweet or insulting”
You can hear Bones fake gagging beside you, “You two are
going to make me puke with all of your cuteness”
Spock raises one eyebrow at the doctor, “I expect you to
take care of Y/N throughout her pregnancy. You are the best doctor in the
fleet, and I want nothing going wrong. The pregnancy is high risk enough since
the child will be ¼ Vulcan.”
Bones nods quietly, “I plan to take care of her, Spock. Don’t
worry, nothing will happen to our girl here”
You groan, flopping back onto the biobed, “I don’t know what
I’m going to do! Between you, Bones, and Jim, I’m going to be smothered!”
Spock runs his fingers through your hair, “Come now,
ashayam. Now that we know our child is in good health, you need to rest.”
Of course Spock tries to pick you up again, but you smack at
his arm until he puts you down. He does make you lay down as soon as you get to
your shared room. You start to doze, cracking an eye open when you feel Spock
rest his hand gently on your lower stomach. You reach down, lacing your fingers
together so both of your hands are resting below your bellybutton.
“I love you”
“I love you as well, ashayam. I feel that I also love our
child, even though I have only known of its existence for a few hours.”
You chuckle softly, “I know exactly how you feel, babe”
You lay there quietly while Spock uses one hand to file
reports while the other remains tangled with yours. Every time you try to pull
away Spock tightens his hand until you finally give in and fall asleep. You
already know that Spock it going to be a complete nightmare throughout your
pregnancy, especially if his two best friends join him. You might love the
Vulcan, but you know that his overprotective nature will eventually drive you
up the wall. And you honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.
do you have any good star trek novel recommendations? (tos please!!)
Yes! I do! I’ve been meaning to make a post about this for…so long, whoops, but I’ll answer this ask instead! (might still make the post someday, idk tbh. I probably should though because since I have so many Trek books I haven’t read yet, I might like more enough to rec them, haha.) Okay, anyway… (By TOS I assume you mean the original Enterprise crew, I hope it’s okay that not all of these actually take place during TOS, aka the five year mission.)
Sarek by A. C. Crispin You might have seen me mention this one the other day on my blog; I really love it. It takes place post TUC, Amanda is dying and Sarek is uncovering a plot that’s way bigger than anyone realizes at first… Also there’s some stuff about Jim’s nephew Peter (from the episode with the farting flying pancake aliens? lol.) and yeah, it’s a great read. All the parts with Sarek and Amanda are lovely and sad and the plot is interesting and it’s just all around enjoyable.Definitely recommend.
Collision Course by William Shatner This is the other one I mentioned on my blog already, and this one is probably my favorite Trek novel. Spock is nineteen and Jim is seventeen when they first meet, and they’re both too smart for their own good and get into trouble and…well, all the things you expect from Jim and Spock. It was originally supposed to be the first in a series, but for various reasons, there probably won’t be any more (CRIES) but this one is so good. And it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger so it’s okay. I especially enjoyed tbh how Bill appreciates what an effect Tarsus would have had on Jim (this is only three years later, after all) and it’s still very visible on lil’ Jim. Not a spoiler, bc a reference is made to Tarsus on…literally the very first page. Lol. Anyway, this one is really fun and sometimes sad (bc Tarsus) and just really great! Also, at least one of the plot twists genuinely surprised me, which is rare… I normally see them coming a mile off in Trek novels. ;) (Which doesn’t usually take away from my enjoyment, tbh!) But I really appreciate when they can surprise me.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (novelization) by Gene Roddenberry You knew this was coming. This is an absolute must read if you’re a Spirk fan, tbh. I’m not all the way through with it so far, about halfway done, but I can tell you it’s a much better way of telling the story of TMP than TMP. Lol. The movie has this simple feeling and Jim rushing to Spock on the bridge and saying his name like a prayer and other things, but it also has all those dreadful special effect sequences. And the novel has its own gay to offer. I don’t necessarily agree with the way Gene wrote Jim (in fact, it’s been forever since I picked it up but I distinctly remember being bothered by it), but…yeah, at least borrow a copy from someone and witness the gay parts for yourself, haha.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (novelization) by Vonda McIntyre I’m going to go ahead and say right now that if you’re going to read the novelizations, go for the ones by Ms. (Mrs? idk) McIntyre. She wrote 2, 3, and 4. I haven’t read 3 yet, but I have read 2 and 4 and I like that she actually adds in scenes and stuff that weren’t in the movies. It makes me feel like I’m actually getting something additional for my time even though I’m reading a novelization of a movie I’ve already seen. I like this one, because there was quite a bit that wasn’t in the movie (I have a hunch the extra scenes, at least some of them, might be based on the script? because the scene with Sulu’s great….something or other grandfather as a child meeting Sulu is in the book, and I know they tried to put that in the movie but never managed to. anyway.) But yeah, there’s actual stuff in there that’s not in the movie! that’s the way it should be. Also…she ships Saavik/David pretty clearly. :P Like I said, haven’t read TSS novel yet, but I know she was working it into 2, and it’s mentioned in 4 as a thing. Anyway…good stuff! This is the one where the whole “Vulcans get drunk on chocolate” thing comes from btw :))) (Avoid the novelizations by JM Dillard! Avoid!!! I’ve read them and they’re not good.) (Oh and pretty much everything I’ve read by Vonda McIntyre I’ve enjoyed, she’s a good Trek writer.)
Dwellers In The Crucible by Margaret Wander Bonnano Margaret Bonnano is another writer I just generally recommend bc I like all the stuff by her that I’ve read, too. Anyway… okay so let me say that this book’s main characters are not Jim and Spock. I know, I know. But wait!! It’s so worth a read!! Jim and Spock are in it, not much, but when they are they’re literally so married and explicitly confirmed to be t’hy’la… :)) it’s great. okay anyway. The main characters are a human named Cleante and a Vulcan named T’Shael. They are ladies. THEY ARE GAY AF. OKAY. THAT ALONE MAKES IT WORTH A READ. it’s so glorious.I mean the book only says they’re friends but…in the same way Jim and Spock are friends in canon. they’re super freaking gay. and also there are like a thousand incredibly obvious parallels between our human and vulcan lady and Jim and Spock. it’s fun. also Sulu goes undercover as a Romulan. :D yeah, just…read it. it’s great. (it made me angry at one point. I’m still angry. but I recommend it.)
Ishmael by Barbara Hambly This one was, for me at least, just a genuinely good read. I really enjoyed the plot. So…Spock goes back in time to 1867, not willingly I don’t think. And he gets amnesia. So right there are two tropes I ADORE (time travel and amnesia, I don’t care, I LOVE THEM.) He lands in North America, in Seattle if I remember correctly. And that’s the plot pretty much. Haha…okay, there’s a Klingon plot, the Enterprise crew searching for Spock, Spock trying to adapt and hide he’s an alien while bonding with the members of the community he lands in. Also Jim and Spock’s reunion is a bit gay. (Warning for spoilers if you click that? it’s pictures of when they find him near the end, so. Yeah.) I just really enjoyed the book in itself, the plot and everything. Fun!
Enterprise: The First Adventure by Vonda McIntyre In light of the tv series called Enterprise, the title of this one might be a little confusing… But it’s most definitely TOS and has nothing to do with Enterprise, haha. The premise is that it’s the first voyage of the Enterprise with Jim as the captain. And the mission is…to transport a theater troupe. It’s ridiculous and so silly, I know, but it’s really fun. There’s a winged horse, a really un-Vulcan Vulcan (I think he’s Spock’s cousin? I don’t really remember tbh), Spock heckling the theater troop, Uhura being a good friend to Janice…that’s all I remember off the top of my head, but I remember really enjoying it when I read it!
Unspoken Truth by Margaret Wander Bonanno Remember what I said about those two writers? Lol. Okay so this is a Saavik-centric book. I really love Saavik, okay? So, as you might know, Saavik is half Vulcan, half Romulan. Well in this book (actually, in a bunch of books, by at least three different writers, it seems to be her accepted backstory in the novels) she was the result of a terrible experiment by Romulans, and when it didn’t work out, she and a bunch of other children were abandoned on a planet called Hellguard, and…some really horrible things happen. Anyway, Spock saves her, mentors her, and Amanda and Sarek basically adopt her (literally, she calls them mother and father, IT’S MY FAVE), well anyway, years later, either after or during TVH, she learns things are happening to the survivors of Hellguard…and the story goes from there. This was really good! Intense tbh. I loved it, but then, I love Saavik. If you don’t like her… But if you do, you’ll enjoy this one!!!!
Doctor’s Orders by Diane Duane Diane Duane is another must read author. All her books are excellent. In all honestly, I don’t remember too much about the plot of this one, but I know I liked it! Dr. McCoy is like “you can’t make me take command on the bridge” and Jim is like “uh actually I CAN” so he does and of course on McCoy’s very first day watching over the bridge Jim goes AWOL and shit starts going down. Poor Bones. Also, there’s some crazy aliens in this one, but they’re interesting!
The Vulcan Academy Murders by Jean Lorrah This one has such misleading cover art, lmaooo. At least, the version I have. There might be others… Anyway. Patients at a hospital on Vulcan keep dying and stuff, and then Amanda is in trouble. Lots of Sarek and Spock and Jim and Bones interaction. It’s a good one. (It’s been soo long since I read this one, too, sorry. But again, I know I enjoyed it!)
Uhura’s Song by Janet Hagan I love the alien species in this one. They’re like giant cats, and I love cats. When I read it, I got really into the planet and the species and their culture. The plot is that an old friend of Uhura’s is from this planet, and they “exchanged songs”…songs are a big deal in their culture. Anyway, there’s a plague threatening everyone on the planet and humans, too, and they think a song might hold the key to curing the disease, so they all go down on the planet to try and find it.
Strangers From The Sky by Margaret Wander Bonanno The plot to this one is…kind of hard to describe. Okay. So the parts with Jim and Spock go back and forth in time, part of the time being like, post-all the movies (I think) where they’re old friends (and really married, they’re just like. Margaret Bonanno has this way of inserting this really easy, casual intimacy they have with each other, and calling it friendship when OBVIOUSLY they’re married af, but either way I love it) and part of the time being very early on when Jim hasn’t been in command for long and he and Spock didn’t care much for each other (I mean personally I think they liked each other quite well from the start, but I’ll let it go, lol)… And then there’s a book. In the book. That everyone is reading and obsessed with and Jim starts reading it… It sounds weird, I know, but the book in the book is the story of the first time Vulcans came in contact with humans, long before the OFFICIAL first contact, it was when Vulcans crash landed on Earth and were discovered by some humans… I fucking love Vulcans, so that is obviously a great point of interest for me. Lol. Anyway when Jim reads the book he has nightmares, but then he discovers Spock has those nightmares, too, and it’s more than ‘just’ a book. Probably sounds bizarre but I really enjoyed it. ….and doesn’t every Trek plot EVER sound bizarre af when you try to describe it?
That’s all I’ve got right now!! This got so long I’M SO SORRY TBH BUT I HAD TO BE THOROUGH.
Your hands moved in and out of the water, wrist flickered forward as you washed the few items of clothing you had placed into the sink.
“Y/N, what are you doing?” A monotone voice came from behind, you smiled and looked over your shoulder. It was Spock, his hands at his side and a curious look on his face. Well, more like a calculating expression as he tried to asses the situation.
oooooooh thanks to your blog i'm getting ideas for a crystal gem saavik! what gemstone do you think might suit her? maybe because she's half-vulcan half-Romulan, something like Tanzanite might be good because it's got trichlorism, where it looks like different colors from different angles. any ideas? and sorry if i'm bothering you!
That’s an amazing idea! Maybe if you want a gemstone that represents the duality of her kind, an Ametrine would fit? it’s a bicolor gem and I think it could suit her! Or maybe Elbaite? I hope this helps!
