that road trip headcanon no one asked for

just because i can’t get it out of my head

  • nico and will taking a two-week trip the summer before college, because “seriously, will, this is your last chance to have fun before you die in pre med”
  • they buy a truck that looks like it’s gonna break down before they leave long island, but with a little help from leo (under careful supervision) it should be good for a few weeks
  • will keeps panicking a week in advance, what if the car breaks down, what if they get in an accident, what if monsters attack
  • nico’s getting sick of it
  • “for gods’ sake, solace, it’s almost like you never had any spontaneous fun in your life and i know you have i mean seriously last night was awesome
  • will tries to pack too much despite of nico’s insistence that “only the things you can fit in one duffel bag, will, everything else is unnecessary”
  • “but i can’t fit the first aid kit in here nico”
  • fine we’ll take that but you can leave the bluetooth speaker leo already fixed the radio”
  • and then they’re off, and thirty minutes on the road nico is laughing because he feels so free
  • driving on an open road, windows down and the radio blasting cheesy road trip songs, and nico is wearing one of will’s flannels bc that guy just has so many
  • and will’s grinning like crazy, bc this is awesome and they have no destination, just the road and enough gas money for a few weeks and a worn out tent as a last minute option for a road side motel
  • by the end of the first week they have pretty much decided they’re not going to college at all
  • “i could live like this, will. i could grow old on the road, sleeping under the open sky”
  • “that’s not the sky, nico, that’s the ceiling. and you’re going to college with me because there’s no way i’m moving to the dorms, and i need someone to share the rent with”
  • “is this you asking me to move in with you? ever the romantic, solace”
  • and truth is, nico is actually a terrible driver, so will does most of the driving unless there are no other drivers in sight
  • nico doesn’t mind that much, bc then he can focus on making the corniest playlists for them and reading a map that’s terribly outdated and still lack the newest highways
  • they end up in a tiny town somewhere in arizona and they have no idea how bc the last time they checked they were camping in a national forest in colorado???
  • but the people are nice and make some really good apple pies, and they end up spending a few days bc will wants to learn the recipe
  • when they leave the town they have so much apples with them that nico has half a mind to throw them at will’s stupid grinning face
  • (he kisses him instead)
  • the first monster attacks them when they are already in tennessee on their way back
  • it’s stupid, really; they should have known better that to take in a hitchhiker in the middle of no where
  • of course it ends up being a freaking cyclops
  • but all’s well that ends well, and only a little bandages and a sip of unicorn draught is needed
  • “and a kiss, nico, i need a kiss to make me feel better”
  • “you’re not even the one with a bleeding clash in their arm, will”
  • they spend their last night on the road parked on a hill in maryland, lying in the back of the truck under a dozen blankets and watching the stars
  • and it’s so freaking romantic that even nico can’t deny it, and if they end up cuddling and making out he definitely blames the scenery
  • and sweet home alabama is playing faintly on the radio and they both smell like sweat bc they haven’t had a shower in two days and there are soda stains on will’s shirt but nico thinks it’s absolutely perfect
  • (but gods forbid he ever tells that to will)

anonymous asked:

Could you do something where ian does a content cop on the reader and they end up meeting up and becoming friends after?

So uh I got carried away with this one but here we goOOO,,

So far, your first Vidcon experience could have been a bit better. But since it was also probably your last, you really didn’t give a shit anymore. No harm, no foul.

It wasn’t that it had been boring or lacklustre, because it was quite the opposite; meeting your favorite Youtubers all at once, and being able to talk to them as equals despite them being far more popular than you would ever be, had been exhilarating; the panels you’d been on so far were well-received; and, well, there was a lot of food and alcohol, which meant it was easier for you to dull the pain of the past ten days.

When you’d arrived at the convention center, the bright SoCal morning and the happy crowds had lifted your spirits. Perhaps most people wouldn’t have watched the new Content Cop. Maybe iDubbbz, even with 4 million subs, wasn’t someone the community put much stock in. And even if he was as insanely popular as he seemed, maybe nobody would recognize you. Who would really care?

Mere minutes later, your hopes were dashed by the tattooed young woman who openly winced when you gave your name, and said “hey, good luck” as you walked away with your badge. You had a sinking feeling you’d need that luck desperately today.

Now after hours of sidelong glances, booing, open fits of laughter upon hearing your name, and choice words like “attention whore”, “liar” and “cheating slut” being flung your way at random, you were outside, slumped over a table like the town drunk, sloppily stirring your Long Island iced tea and directing an unfocused gaze at the sunset. It was a bit quieter out here with less people to pay attention to you. Hell, after today it would be a miracle if you ever went out in public again. Since the video had been released, you’d managed to stave off any crying-you knew that crying would be letting him win. But today had been the closest you’d come.

That was the infuriating thing about all this-any reaction you gave would be an automatic win for the Ian Carter camp. You couldn’t cry, you couldn’t try and criticize his points, you couldn’t complain, or even make an “apology” without being completely shit on. And you certainly couldn’t turn off commenting or make your Twitter private without being vilified even further. All you could do was watch your stats plunge on Socialblade and read terse emails from sponsors dropping your channel one by one. Your career was ruined, and the Internet rejoiced in the schadenfreude of another successful installment of Content Cop.

The worst part? He’d been right. About everything. You’d lied to your viewers, you’d been caught cheating on your fiance, you’d said terrible things. Deep down, you were certain you deserved this. Every death threat and hate-filled message you’d gotten just confirmed what you already knew. The death of your channel was a given now, and you knew that eventually someone at your school would get ahold of the whole mess, and lord knows people have been dismissed from universities for less. In essence, nothing in your life was certain anymore.

You only stopped moping when you realized you were sipping on air- your Long Island was empty. Standing up was a bit of a struggle, but you made your way inside to the bar without incident. At the moment, your plan was simple: Step one, drink as much as humanly possible. Step two, black out or maybe die. It was convenient and foolproof. Excellent.

But the universe wasn’t inclined to have anything go in your favor-why start now?

Once your new drink arrived, you hadn’t quite found the fortitude to meander back to your secluded outdoor table yet, so you were leaning on the counter with your forehead pressed against the tall, icy glass, letting time drip by. The first thing that brought you back to reality was a familiar and slightly obnoxious voice growing closer.

“You boys seen Chef?”

Cacophonies of stifled laughter followed-stomach going cold, you clumsily lifted your head to witness what was surely just a bad dream. Surrounded by a small entourage, the infamous iDubbbz stood a ways down the bar, laughing as his Aussie friend-Max?-interrogated innocent bystanders about a critically-acclaimed Jon Favreau movie. You wanted to run so badly, sprint all the way back to your hotel, but in your current state all you could do was shrink back, hope for the best, and listen.

“Hey, cunt, lemme get you a drink,” Max slurred, clapping his friend on the shoulder-everyone on Youtube knew what a drunk Maxmoefoe looked like, and you were no different. “T celebrate.”

“I’m fine, man, I promise.” Ian smiled and let Max lean on him to regain his balance. “I’m a happy boy.”

“Come on, Ian!” That was Filthy Frank. Duh. Well, George, Joji, whatever, the cute one. “It isn’t every day that a video gets 20 million views. I think everyone here kinda expects you to be trashed by now-ayyy, Philly deFuckass!”

Sure as shit, you recognized the one and only Philip deFranco walking up to the group, immediately bringing Ian in for a hug.

“You hit a fuckin’ home run!” He said after ordering a few drinks. “You’re in my thumbnail for tomorrow, actually. You wanna come back on the show sometime? We’d have fun-you seriously wrecked that girl. Felix wouldn’t shut up about it at lunch.”

Ian shrugged and allowed Phil to shove what looked like a rum and coke into his grip. “All I did was compile what was already out there, you know? It’s whatever.”

Whatever. Whatever. His words ricocheted through the fog in your skull like a shockwave. They were talking about your reputation, your career, your life-and it was just whatever. This stringbean praying-mantis looking motherfucker had made something in the neighborhood of forty thousand dollars so far off of your pain.

Rage sure made it a lot easier to walk.

Before you realized what you were doing, you’d stormed over to the group of men, and Ian hadn’t even registered your presence when you flung your full drink into his face, even letting the glass slip from your hand and hit him in the chest. The split second of shock from everyone around gave you the opportunity to deck him right in his smug face. He reeled backward, and the room exploded-Max and Phil both grabbed you by the arms, impervious to your thrashing, while George pulled Ian away, fussing over his face and clothes. Everyone else had frozen, though for you the room was swimming.

“Yeah,” you shouted, “better run, bitch!”

“You’re free to go.”

Bleary-eyed, you squinted at the policeman standing in the doorway. “Seriously?”

“Bail was just posted.”

Now that was a mystery. You hadn’t called anybody, and no friends had been with you at Vidcon.

The officer handed you a bag with your belongings and led you out into the too-bright lobby. When you saw who was standing by the entrance, you stopped dead. Okay, either this was a dream or you’d been drugged, because Ian freaking Carter had no business standing there all bruised and disheveled and looking at you with a completely unreadable face.

“He’s the one who posted it,” said the officer as he handed you a form to sign. “And the assault charge is getting dropped.”

Head reeling, you murmured your thanks and turned back to where Ian was. Walking up to him was like dragging your legs through cement.

“Thank you,” you said quietly, looking down at your shoes.

He just sighed. “Let me give you a ride.”

You didn’t have the energy to resist.

It took ten minutes for the silence in the Jeep to break, but Ian finally spoke up.

“I don’t blame you,” he said. “Honestly, you did the same thing I would’ve done.”

“…that doesn’t mean it was right,” you finally replied. “I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorr-”

“Don’t,” you cut him off, voice sharp. “You don’t need to pretend to be sorry. You didn’t do anything wrong. Like you said, all you did was compile information that was already out there. Besides, I deserve it.”

Another sigh.

“No,” he finally said. “Look-I stand by what I said. I don’t make shit up and I don’t lie the shit you did. But at least half of my fanbase is a bunch of fucking degenerates. I’ve seen the shit they’ve been saying to you and a lot of it is actually fucking disgusting. The people telling you to kill yourself-you don’t deserve that. And from what I heard a lot of people treated you like shit today. I didn’t make the video with the intention of sending an army of shitstains after you. So yeah, for that part, I am sorry. It just…got out of hand.”

You noticed that Ian’s phone was vibrating in the cupholder. 4 messages from Maxine. He reached out and shut the screen off.

“Probably wondering where I went,” he said, more to himself than to you.

“You didn’t tell him where you were going?”

“Didn’t tell anyone. This whole shebang is gonna be fucked enough, I’d rather not give Keem and Scarce more ammo than they already have.”

For the first time, you paused to consider the situation. You really had never expected that Ian would be this…considerate. This guy was calm and level-headed in a way that was never portrayed online. After the hide-tanning you’d received from the same guy just last week, the “real” Ian seemed like an entirely separate person.

“Didn’t realize I punched you that hard,” you said, laughing a bit nervously. He cracked a smile too-the bruise was deep purple under his eye, fading down his cheekbone into mottled lavender and red.

“You could do MMA or some shit,” he joked. “Really fuckin’ clocked me.”

“I promise I don’t make a habit of punching people. Not even gay retards who deserve it.”

Ian actually laughed-it was sweet and nervous and genuine in an awkward way. You definitely hadn’t heard that on camera. “Is that so? You think you could take me when my guard’s up? I’ll kill you.”

“Ooooh, feisty lil’ thang!”

In the most surreal few minutes of your life, you two laughed the rest of the way to the hotel over the stupidest shit. Ian was delighted at how much of his content you knew, and the tense mood evaporated until he pulled into the parking lot. For a moment, you just watched some moths dancing under a too-orange street lamp and pretended he wasn’t there.

“Soooo,” you both said, making you crack up again.

“Y’know,’ he said, “You did some fucked up shit, but you aren’t an asshole. Uh…no hard feelings, and we move on?”

“…I’d like that.”

“Neato, speedo. So, this never happened.”

“No siree.”

Presumably, “this never happened” didn’t mean that he would DM you two nights later just to show you some shitty meme. Nor did it mean that you two would be messaging over Skype every day for months. It certainly didn’t mean that he would call you drunk while he was in Australia and it was 4 in the morning at home in Los Angeles, just to say he missed you. And in no way did it even remotely mean that two years down the line, you’d be watching a movie in bed in your new apartment, eating homemade pizza,  your dog curled up between you, and Ian would turn to kiss you and say, “Roasting you was the best decision of my life.”

Neither of you were thinking that. But hey, you were being honest at the time, late at night under buzzing orange lights, and that’s what counted.

Four times Kara didn't say she loved Lena (and one time she did)

Original work on Ao3. ENJOY!

The first time Lena heard Kara say ‘I love you’ it wasn’t directly at her.

They were in the middle of yet another interview – or maybe it was the end, she kind of lost track of time around the bubbly blonde reporter – when Kara’s phone ringed and she excused herself to answer her sister’s call.

“Hey, Alex!” She had said with a smile, rolling her eyes at something her sister said back.

“I’m not bailing on you, I’ll be there in time, don’t worry!”

Lena tried her best to pretend she wasn’t eavesdropping even though Kara was right there in front of her, humming at Agent Danvers words.

“Try to relax, okay? I’m on my way.” Kara smiled affectionately, and Lena wanted to scream at the butterflies in her stomach to fucking get it together. “Bye, I love you!”

Lena quickly looked up at those words, heart beating fast and fucking butterflies making a fuss yet again.

While she and Lex had a great relationship growing up, always supporting and teasing each other over dreams and silly things, they rarely shared any affections. He used to ruffle her hair when she done something good or a smart move at chess, and she would touch and squeeze his arm when one of his crazy projects worked out without exploding his room.

The first and probably only time they said I love yous was right after Lionel’s death.

Kara said I love you to her sister like she meant every word of it, and like she wouldn’t stop saying that any time soon.

Kara’s words made Lena’s insides melt.

“Sorry about that,” Kara said shyly, hanging up. “We’re having dinner with my sister’s girlfriend’s family for the first time tonight. Our mom is meeting Maggie’s aunt and husband, and Alex is freaking out making sure everything looks perfect, so apparently I have to be there right now or I’m dead!”

Lena laughed and walked Kara to her office door, before they shared a brief but tight hug.

“Text me later to let me know Supergirl’s sister didn’t kill her.”

Kara blushed and nodded, “Bye, Lena.”

Lena stared at Kara as the blonde walked to the elevator, thinking about her fainting I love you and how Alex Danvers was lucky to hear those words everyday.

Visiting the DEO base for the first time made Lena remember her first time in Disneyland right before Lex went away to college - Lillian’s last attempt to spend more time with her son and Lionel’s gift to Lena for her 12th birthday.

Everything was magical.

She went there to sign the papers about Kara’s secret identity, but then somehow ended up helping Winn solve a cyber attack happening simultaneously all over the country after the surprise release of an alien malware used to collect informations about every alien related secret the government had.

It would take Winn and his team hours to solve the problem. With Lena’s help though, it took them two.

Kara wrapped both arms around Lena and Winn’s shoulders as the whole base clapped and cheered over their success.

Even J'onn J'onnz’s lips turned upwards a tiny little.

After that it turned a common occurrance for Lena to visit DEO for professional reasons, weather to help Winn and his brilliant team with new algorithms, or Alex’s researches in the incredible base’s lab, or maybe only to watch Kara working out.

And she knows the last one it’s not professional, okay?

Don’t judge her.

Lena knew by now that Kara and Winn were best friends even before she came out as a superhero. She knew they bonded over working for Cat Grant the great Queen of All Media, and she admired both of them for putting up with all of Cat’s crazyness.

Kara and Winn were like over excited puppies or maybe kindergarten partners in crime, and Lena was glad Kara had someone like him to be there for her no matter what.

Even if their closeness made Lena jealous as fuck sometimes.

But of course she couldn’t say that out loud. Lena and Kara were only friends.

Sure, they hung out, had lunch or dinner together most days, were partners in game nights for the past couple of months, secretly texted each other about boring meets they had to attend, teased Maggie and Alex for being such a married couple already and Kara gave Lena the best back massages ever… but they only friends.

And if Lena felt something for the blonde, that was entirely her own problem. She couldn’t force her feelings on someone else.

Kara was such a lovely human being and her friendship with Winn was really a precious thing to see.

The three of them were once again in the lab, hunched over a table where Winn was trying to recreate Kara’s aunt special suit that prevented Astra and the others from the dangerous effects of kryptonite.

Kara was quite happy with the possibility of not having to worry about the mineral in a fight, and Lena couldn’t say she wasn’t relived over the fact maybe she didn’t have to see Kara being carried to her sun bed still bleeding.

She wished she could wipe away that memory.

“I can’t believe it!” Winn said quietly, making Lena and Kara stop their completely serious thumb fight to look at him. “I’m a freaking genius… oh God, I’m a freaking genius!”

Kara was already smiling widely, “You did it?”

Winn raised his fists in the air, jumping up and down, laughing. “Gimme a Rocky Balboa song, baby, because I DID IT!”

Kara screamed and threw herself in Winn’s arms, holding onto him like a baby koala.

“I fucking love you, Winn! I love you! I love you!”

“Oh, I know! I know!"

Lena wanted to stab the jealousy monster right in the eye.

She didn’t have time to dwell too much into it, though, becuse Winn and Kara were now looking at her with that twin glint in their eyes and…

Oh no.

Lena was tackled to the ground before she could run, trapped in a messy group bear hug and giggling fits.

When Alex found them down there with raised eyebrows, the three of them screamed 'WE DID IT!’, before pulling her down too.

Lena Luthor was a genius.

Lena Luthor was the youngest CEO L-Corp had in its history.

Lena Luthor was fucking scared to meet Eliza Danvers.

"You're pathetic, Luthor.” Maggie mumbled as they cut vegetables for the salad in Kara’s kitchen.

Lena looked up to see Maggie’s annoying smirk.

“What are you talking about?” Lena asked, eyes now back to the baby carrots she was meticulously cutting.

Maggie looked over her shoulder to where Alex and Kara were talking as they set up the table. When she turned her eyes back to Lena, she was smirking again.

“You may look all calm and collected, but buying all these flowers arrangements and that expensive wine that probably costs more than my apartment kinda gives you away.” Maggie whispered. “Actually your devotion to those carrots and how you make heart eyes at Kara makes it even more obvious.”

Lens blushed but tried to act cool.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Right. And I didn’t fuck Alex on your office couch.”

Lena’s hand slipped as she looked with widen eyes at the detective, face as red as the blood now dripping from her index finger all over the kitchen island.

“You and little Danvers were taking too damn long to make a good use of it.” Maggie shrugged as if it was nothing.

“MAGGIE!” She pointed the knife towards the detective.

“What’s happening here?”

“Lena, you're bleeding?”

In a blink Kara was right beside here, Lena’s hand in hers as she took the knife away from the CEO to give a better look at the cut.

“Margaret it’s what’s happening! They had sex on ou- on my office couch!”

Kara gasped as she looked at her sister and her girlfriend, Maggie laughing so hard she barely made any sound and Alex hiding her flushed face behind her hands, mortified.

“Maggie, I can’t believe you!” Alex groaned.

“Lena’s meeting was taking too long!”

Before anything else could be said, they heard the doorbell ring. Kara glared at Alex as she still held Lena’s hand in hers, making some pressure over the wound to keep it from bleeding too much, and Alex took a deep breath as she moved to open the door.

Eliza was already smiling when the door opened, but the smile quickly turned into a frown when she noticed the tension.

“Is something wrong?"

"Lena cut her finger.” Kara quickly said.

“Oh dear…” Eliza quickly walked inside the apartment and approached the two of them, pushing Kara’s hand away and replacing her daughter’s hands with her own, looking at the cut. “It’s deep, but nothing serious. Kara, go grab the first aid kit.”

Kara was gone and back in a second.

Eliza moved Lena to the couch as Alex and Maggie finished cleaning the kitchen island and preparing the food, Kara watching attentively as her mother patched up Lena’s finger.

“There you go. All good.” Eliza said when she finished wrapping Lena’s finger in a Minions band aid. She smiled. “I’m Eliza Danvers, by the way.”

Lena gulped and looked up into the older woman’s eyes, suddenly feeling nervous yet again.

“Lena Luthor, ma'am.”

Kara giggled at her words and Lena felt very embarrassed.

“Only Eliza it’s fine. I was actually looking forward to meet you, Lena. Of course, under better circumstances."

Lena looked surprised at Eliza.

Since Kara’s invitation to dinner to meet her adoptive mother last week, Lena had been nervous. She wasn’t used to meeting moms and this was Kara's mom.

"You were?”

“Kara talks so much about you, I felt like I knew you already!”

“Mom…” Kara whined, cheeks turning pink and looking away.

Lena heard Maggie and Alex giggling in the back like high school teenagers.

“She only said good thing, of course.” Eliza took Lena’s hands between her own and looked right into green eyes. “And I also would like to congratulate you on your public speech in the Congress about the new National Alien Immigration Law Center. That’s a very important step for aliens to come out of the shadows and seek our help. Hopefully more and more countries will follow our lead. I'm very proud of you, Lena.”

Lena felt her eyes stinging as she looked back at Eliza. In all her twenty five years of miserable life she never heard her own mother say such gentle words with that soft motherly tone.

She took a deep breath and tried her best to prevent the tears from falling.

“Thank you, Eliza. Really.”

“Oh, come here!” Eliza opened her arms and pulled Lena into the warmest hug she’s ever felt - except Kara’s. Then she felt Kara hugging both of them, reaching for her mother over Lena’s shoulder to kiss Eliza’s cheek.

“I love you, mom.” She said softly.

“I love you, too, sweetie.”

Alex cleared her throat.

“I love all of my girls!” Eliza said louder as they laughed.

Maggie was a little shit.

They all knew that.

And Lena would never forgive her for having sex on her own office couch before Lena even had the chance to maybe, one day in the future, make a good use of it with Kara.

It was their couch!

But still, Maggie had Kara’s back and vice versa.

Sometimes they went out to lunch only the two of them, when neither Lena or Alex had the time to tag along. They started to do yoga classes together, which Lena couldn’t really complain because Kara stretching her body was an amazing sight, before they moved to kick boxing.

When Kara started to say fuck more often, Lena and Alex both agreed that that was probably the limit of things.

“You’d think I would be glad my little sister and girlfriend are getting along so well, but I kind of wish they hated each other right now.” Alex said as they watched Maggie and Kara pour the biggest glass of beer the alien bar had down their throats, trying to see who could drink faster over a stupid bet.

“Kara thinks she’s turned into a badass.” James said, chuckling when Maggie and Kara finished their beers at the same time, the two of them burping loudly.

“For Christ’s sake…” Alex mumbled as they approached their table once again.

“Did you finish?” Lena asked Kara when the blonde sat back down by her side, wiping away the beer mustache the reporter had with a napkin.

“Uhum!” Kara hummed and nodded quickly, her glasses sliding down her nose a little. “Maggie was teaching me some cool pick up lines!”

Alex glared at her girlfriend, who raised her hands in surrender.

“She might want to use some in future!"

Lena pretended she didn’t see everybody looking at her with the corners of their eyes.

She knew they all thought she should make a move or something towards Kara. But why did it have to be her?

If Kara felt anything for Lena, she would’ve said something by now. But Kara was as affectionate with Lena as with everybody else.

And she didn’t want to mess up their friendship.

"I might!” Kara nodded quickly again, smiling.

“You should try it right now, little Danvers!”

Maggie, the little shit.

Lena sighed as she prepared herself to see Kara find some bulky guy to practice her ridiculous pick up lines on, but the blonde only bit her bottom lip, looking around.

Then she turned to look at Lena.

“Hey, Lee! I may be Batman but you’re Robin my heart!"

Kara’s cheeks were flushed from the drinks and Lena thought she looked beautiful.

But all of their friends were making such a fools of themselves as they punched the table, laughing hard.

"Was it good?” Kara looked from Lena to Maggie, seeking for her master’s approval.

“Try the Super ones!"

Kara thought for a moment before she looked at Lena again, "Did I hit you with my heat vision? Because you’re on fire!”

Lena palmed her red cheeks as she too started to laugh at Kara’s words.

“Oh! I have another: I think your clothes are made of kryptonite, we have to get rid of them immediately!"

"Okay!” Alex said as she clapped her hands. “I think that’s enough, let’s get this ladykiller home!"

Alex helped Kara with her coat since the blonde was too drunk to put it on her own, and Lena grabbed Kara’s purse, following Alex and Maggie outside, as they supported the blonde’s heavy body to Lena’s car.

"Than you for our lessons, master. Did you think it worked?” Kara asked Maggie, the reporter’s arm still around her shoulders.

“You’ll have to ask Lena later.” Maggie said with a smile.

“Okay… I love you, Maggie.” Kara said softly, kissing Maggie’s cheek.

“I love you, too, baby Danvers.” Maggie closed the passanger’s door and winked at Lena over the roof is the car. “She’s all yours now, Luthor.”

Lena could only wish.

Lena was getting used to hear Kara say ‘I love you’ to almost everyone by now.

She said it to Mon-El once after he got beaten up by some giant crazy alien that looked like a crocodile, putting himself between the Croc and a group of citizens, giving them time to run.

He was starting to learn to be a hero and a good Supergirl sidekick. When he didn’t spent time hitting on girls, that is, but Kara or Maggie would always slap the back of is neck as they told him to treat girls right, so Lena hoped he learned that too.

Kara often said 'I love you’ to J'onn.

She ended calls with Clark with the same words.

Cat Grant visited her once at CatCo and guess what? 'You know I love you, Cat!’

She said it to Brad, her doorman when he helped with the grocerie bags.

She said it to Lena's doorman once for the same reason.

And she said it to Bruce Wayne after an interview over the phone, but she insisted she didn’t mean it, it was just force of habit.

But she never said it to Lena.

Not even once.

Not even if just by the force of habit.

And Lena shouldn’t feel hurt, but she did.

“Do you love me, Kara?” Lena finally asked one night.

They had been watching a movie on Alex and Maggie’s place as they waited for the couple to return with the food. Lena’s head was resting on Kara’s thigh on the couch, but apparently Kara had been so startled by the question she jumped, forcing Lena to sit up.

“W-what?” Kara asked nervously. “Why are you asking me that?”

Lena sighed.

“It’s just… you have this crazy habit of saying 'I love you’ to just about anyone!” She finally said, running her hands over her dark hair, frustrated. “You say it to Alex, you say it to Eliza, you say you love Clark before finishing your calls, you said it to Brad the doorman once. Even Mon-El got his declaration of love!”

Kara was opening and closing her mouth quickly, like a fish out of the sea.

“But…. that’s… that’s just… me, you know!”

Lena smiled sadly at that.

“I know. I do know. But you never told me. Not even over a phone call."

Lena looked down at her hands, suddenly feeling very stupid to start this discussion.

"Look… let’s forget I said anything, okay?” She smiled but it didn’t sound funny. “I get it. It’s hard to say those words to a  Luthor and-”

“It’s not that.” Kara said just above a whisper. “I could never say I love you without making it sound something so much deeper than that.”

Lena looked up quickly, frowning at Kara’s words.

“What do you mean?”

“I wouldn’t be able to say I love you without wanting to make love to you.” Kara’s hands were shaking as she said that.

“I do like to say how much I appreciate having people I can trust and cherish in my life. I had no one. My planet was gone. And this was my second chance.” Kara took Lena’s hands between her own. “But meeting someone like you it’s a one time thing, Lena. Our friendship it’s something I would never risk losing.”

Lena felt Kara’s hands move to her cheeks.

“You don’t know how much I love you, Lena. How many times I had to force myself to keep the words inside. I love your smile… Rao, it feels like flying over the clouds and bathing in the first rays of sunshine. I love how green your eyes are. I love how I can read your humour through your eyebrows, and I love the way you clench your jaw when yore concentrating too hard on your work. I love your voice when you say my name and the sound of your laughter, I love your skin and how soft it is, it makes me crazy. I love how you love people, no matter where they’re from.”

Lena smiled as she wiped away relieved tears, because Kara finally said she loved her.

“I'm fucking in love with you, Lena.”

Even better.

“I’m in love with you, too, but I hate you for taking too fucking long to tell me that!”

“Then I’ll have to say it everyday.” Kara smiled, before leaning in and covering Lena’s lips with her own in a slow but deep kiss.

They broke apart a few moments later, trying to catch their breath.

“I love you. I love you. I love you…” Kara mumbled as she peppered kisses all over Lena’s face.

The CEO smirked as she laid down on the couch.

“You know, I think Maggie’s couch it's so comfortable.”

Kara raised an eyebrow. “Lena, no…”

“Lena, yes.”

Then Lena yanked down the woman she loved and that loved her back for another hungry kiss.

Suck that, Maggie!

I'm not sure if this went through but ^.^ how would Noodle act in a relationship with a girl?? Also if you can do the members reactions that would be amazing thank you!!

- As evidenced in almost every phase 4 picture ever, Noodle’s fashion sense is amazing. She would definitely take her girlfriend shopping for clothes a lot. She says you look good in every outfit you put on.
- If your hair’s long enough, she loves styling and playing with it.
- She loves taking you on dates. She takes you to really cool places, like museums, parks, etc. Her favorite place to take you is a hill a couple miles from her and the other’s house (it kind of looks like the windmill island from phase 2). The two of you have nice talks and sometimes she’ll play her guitar for you.
- Every time a love song comes on, whether you know it or not, she nudges you and says “Look, this is our song!”
- She’d teach you Japanese if you wanted her to!
- She’s a perfect cuddler because she loves being big spoon but she’s so short that she’d be a perfect little spoon.
- You and her are Katsu’s parents. She no longer has to be a single mother.
- She learns how to play a lot of your favorite songs on her guitar and she loves to surprise you with them.
- She plays video games with you a lot, but she’s very skilled at them. She’ll beat you a lot, so she lets you win sometimes.
- Noodle is very nice and kind but if anyone tries messing with you she will fight to the death.
- She shows you off to everyone, she’s very happy to have you as her girlfriend.
- You two have of lazy mornings often. You’ll both sit in your pajamas until 12:00pm, cuddling and watching old Cartoon Network shows together.

As for the others’ reactions:

- Russel’s happy for her, but he’s very protective over Noodle. It takes him a little while to trust you completely, but once he does he treats you very nicely.
- Murdoc wouldn’t really care who she’s with, as long as they’re good to Noodle. He wouldn’t admit it, but he’s almost as protective of Noodle as Russel is.
- 2D hasn’t ever been able to keep a girlfriend, so he’s proud of her. He thinks the both of you make an adorable couple.

The Lesser of Two Evils - Part 1

Request: I was messaged with a great idea from @avengersrulez1536 where the reader is Regina’s sister. Although she is nicer than her she is just as evil as Peter Pan….someone who she is about to come face to face with. Oh and she is a pirate! :D I had some fun with this so if they don’t mind I will do one or two more parts to this.

Note: Apologies for the fact that Pan doesn’t appear until the end…..this is why I have gone for multiple parts to this request :)

Family was always complicated – sibling rivalries, clear favouritism from parents, numerous arguments… name it. But it becomes a whole new level of complicated when your sister is the Evil Queen. Now you are far from perfect yourself, you would never pretend to be otherwise, but her methods were pretty extreme even for you…..which was why you had decided to escape from it all.

Villages being obliterated and people slaughtered just because she was in a bad mood? At least when you maimed or killed anyone it was for a genuine reason whether that be self-defence or to gain something of importance….not because you had woken up on the wrong side of the bed that day and liked to throw your toys out of the pram. Yet still your mother Cora doted on her as though she was the perfect daughter and in her eyes she was – she had gained her place on a throne and become a Queen after all.

That may have been an exciting life for her but for you it had always been about sailing the open seas, visiting different lands, and so you had managed to work your way onto a ship of pirates. It had taken rather a lot of persuading, and some rather humiliating ‘initiation’ jobs, but you can hold your own even against a bunch of pirates so you soon earned their respect.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

A year has passed since you left your mother and Regina and you have gained yourself quite the reputation during that time. One that could easily rival that of your Captain. But then there is a part of you convinced that having an Evil Queen for your sister helps add to that just a little.

As you walk out onto the deck the rest of the crew seem to watch you with caution in their eyes, just the way you like it to be, but one in particular isn’t….in fact he seems to think he has the right to ogle you as though you are a piece of meat on show at the market.

Doing your best to balance the stack of books in your left hand and your chin, your right hand carefully turned the doorknob of Jinyoung’s bedroom door before you peeked inside to see him nowhere in sight. You bit your bottom lip and let yourself in as you cradled his books that you had borrowed in your embrace. You always felt weird walking into Jinyoung’s bedroom without asking or letting him know, but he had reminded you time and time again that it was alright. And with the pile of books you’ve had kept borrowing from Jinyoung’s private collection, you couldn’t keep hoarding them in your own room when he keeps recommending you a new read every few days.

Tom Holland + things you said with too many miles between us

A/N: I love tom except Cindy loves him way more

Tags: @heyitsbabycindy @alessandra-writes @theregoesximena

“I really miss you.” Tom’s voice sounds muffled over the phone, but you could hear him as if he was here in front of you.

You smile wide, feeling butterflies in your stomach, “Me too.”

You hear papers being ruffled around on the other side and then a sigh comes from Tom, “I want to see you. It’s been too long since I saw your pretty face.”

You blush, feeling thankful that Tom could not see you because he would tease you endlessly, “I know, so do I. But, I’m filming a movie, you’re filming a movie. It’s not like we could just drop everything all of a sudden.”

There’s a silence and then a cough. “Well, maybe we should. Maybe we should just run away together and live on an island somewhere.”

“Tom, don’t get all John Green on me. You know we can’t do that.” you laugh softly, staring at the ceiling from your bed.

“Well, then I’ll buy a plane ticket and visit you. I’ll ask for a break and-”

“Babe, I appreciate what you’re trying to do, really I do. But you can’t do that. You have a job to do. I mean if you fuck up with Sony one more time I’m pretty sure they’ll fire you.” you try to joke, though judging by the way the silence stretches for miles, you’re pretty sure Tom is serious.

Of course, you wanted to see him, you hadn’t exactly been the strongest the past few months. With rumors of you two breaking up and dating other people, it had been hard to actually make out the truth of your relationship.

“Please, baby, just this once. I have a break in a couple of weeks and I can visit you on set.”

You sigh, “I mean, I guess I could deal with you for awhile.”

Tom breaks out into a smile from the other side of the phone and you can practically see it. Tom puts his phone on his shoulder and does a little dance with him mumbling an ‘oh yeah, she said yes’. You laugh giddily, a feeling of pure happiness setting over you.

“Okay, baby I need to go to sleep because I have an early day tomorrow.” you say, looking at the clock on your nightstand.

“Okay, I love you.”

“Love you too.”

You smile, “Okay.”

Tom laughs loudly, “Now who’s getting all John Green on me?”

If you want to get tagged for future fics/drabbles

okay but I keep ending everything with dialogue??? This wasn’t my best work.

what are your thoughts on It Could've Been Great? Particularly, when the CGs and Peridot started to disagree over their views of Homeworld's effects on Earth.

Part of it is, as utterly insensitive as Peridot seems to the CG, who look at that colonized map and see the total extinction of humanity and every other biological organism on Earth- including Greg, including Steven- taking what we know from Too Short To Ride, the Crystal Gems at that point looked pretty insensitive from Peridot’s perspective, too!

There Is No Escape - Part 1

Summary: You are rescued from the waters around Neverland by Captain Hook and his crew with no memory has to what happened to you. But when you return to the island you soon find out.

Captain Hook/Peter Pan x Reader

Warning: None

Words: 1345

Your body is cold… very cold. You don’t know how you ended up in a vast ocean of water, or how long you had been in it, all you know is that you couldn’t swim any more. There had been no sign of land when you had first found yourself in the water and after swimming for however long you had been there was still nothing around you. Nothing but deep, dark, water. Every muscle in your body is aching beyond belief from the constant shaking as the cold temperature begins to affect you down to your very core.

This is it. This is how you were going to die. It’s a depressing thought but it is the only one that seems to be so very clear in your exhausted mind.

As your eyes begin to lose the fight to stay open and your face sinks beneath the gentle waves of the ocean you feel something wrapping itself around your wet hair, gripping it tight, before pulling you up and out of the water you’d been convinced was going to be your grave.

“Got her Cap’n!”

The deep, harsh, voice that now fills your ears is unrecognisable but you simply don’t care. All that matters now is that you are going to live another day. The hand that had pulled you out of the water now places you onto a hard surface and it is only now, as your eyes slowly fought to open a little, that you can make out several figures standing over you. Your vision isn’t as sharp as it would usually be though so there are no details on them that you can pick out….aside from one.

He swears it only gets him in trouble, ever since he was a kid. He still remembers how much trouble he was in for that stupid pussy joke back on the X-FACTOR and even now, almost 7 years later, he still hasn’t learned how to keep his mouth shut.

It had all started innocently enough, when he had you back at his new house in LA - you had just gotten in after nearly six months of not seeing him and you missed him, oh how you missed him. When you got to his place and he opened the door, you had attacked him with kisses - on his hair, on his temple, quick forceful pecks on his cheeks and a handful of pert little ones on his nose.

It was a habit of yours, the nose kisses - you were the only friend of his that greeted him like this and he was always complaining of how much it made him feel like a kid. You did exactly because of that - because of the little nose scrunch and the cute blush that’d take over his cheeks when you did; because of how much he complained but secretly loved it… at least you thought so.

You had been there for nearly a day and the nose kisses had been constant - in Harry’s head, he hoped this was your way of showing your affection and even though he pretended to hate it, he couldn’t wait for the day when you’d miss the shot and kiss his lips instead. The only problem was that you had a damn good aim and, so far, you hadn’t missed once.

“I really did miss you, H.” You mumbled, a bright smile on your face as you watched him buzz through the kitchen while he made you both some dinner.

My interpretation of the Black Sails series finale

Why do I feel like Flint being reunited with Thomas is his version of the afterlife? I mean looking at the same (or simular) grey-ish cinematography, just like the death dreams Flint had about Miranda. On the other hand the flashbacks had the same cinematography as well. And Flint’s reunion with Thomas not being true would mean that Silver lied to Madi and even though I guess that is the only thing he considered worth lying about, because he was concerned for her life, it still feels purposely vague. If it is true, then I am happy for Thomas, but not Flint. I will stand by that sentiment. I guess the ambiguity of it all is fitting and in true TI fashion? It just saddens me that Madi never got to see the other side of Flint, the monster, because if she did, she wouldn’t be so defensive about him. There is SO MUCH Madi hasn’t witnessed. Will she ever know? Will she ever truly know? The lives he ruined? The countless of people he betrayed because of his extreme selfishness? All the lying, the deceit, the secretiveness etc. Forcing men to do his bidding by inciting fear through terror. The monster he created in Billy because of it? Will she ever know that Flint just wanted to watch the world burn? And how tragic an end for Billy to be the one end up marooned, knowing it is Flint’s actions that led him to that point.

That fight scene was really hard to get through, like it legit took me over ten pauses or something, because ugh, I was really hurting for both sides. I think it’s so hard for Madi to hear what Silver has done, on the one hand, ofcourse, because the man you trusted the most, love the most, the one you believe to be completely on your side, the only one you can be truely vulnerable with, was the one who took away the one thing you wanted the most, fought for the most. But most importantely, he planned it, which means he knowingly didn’t let her in on it. They usually tell each other everything, they’re a duo, a team, so for him to leave her completely out on such a huge decision must’ve come completely out of left field. Don’t forget, Madi is a proud woman, she is used to being in control, managing and deciding the situation. On the other hand I also think it’s hard for her to hear, because if she’s to admit to herself that what Silver told her about Flint is true, that would mean she’d had to admit to herself she too made the mistake of putting her trust in Flint. And that must be something incredibally difficult to make peace with. Madi is a fighter by nature, she has a very restless spirit knowing the practice of slavery is still thriving, and the brutalizations inflicted on it’s victims are still happening. I think, next to Silver’s “betrayal”, Madi was crying because of so many other things (her cause “failing”, humiliation and her pride being wounded, being outvoted by her own people about the treaty, the loneliness of being the only one who wants more for her people and the world, feeling like no one is in your corner, feeling like you’re not being taken seriously, not being used to be undermind in this way or at all etc.), but ultimatily underneed it al I think she was crying because of this very deep seaded frustration of knowing that, because of the colour of your skin, you can’t EVER go wherever you wanna go because the world only views you as a slave and nothing more. They don’t care that you’re so much more than that, they only care about how hard you can work to make them money. Just like Silver always wanted to find someone to see and love him for he is, Madi wants the world to see and accept her for who she is. To let her truely live free in it. This is what she always wanted for herself and her people. To not have that, is like living in a mental prison. And for someone who is that brave and is so curious about the world and has such an adventurous spirit, that must be terrifying.“She wasn’t made to be hidden away from the world”. It’s like, because she was born free, she’s thinking; I have this privilege, this luxury of being fearless, because I didn’t face oppression. Therefore I’m strong enough to take on the weight of the goddamn world, to take on the weight of all the ghosts of the people who died in chains and to take on the weight of the ones who are living in chains now. But the problem is, she is only one person, and that’s a colossal burden for one person to bare.

But Silver has been living in that world, therefore has seen more of it, is literally shaped by it (which made it easier for him to be on Julius level of understanding) so he knows the scope of the enemy she wants to defeat is so much bigger and larger then she can comprehend. He’s like: Madi I love you, with all my heart, I really do, but I’m not gonna let you continue to carry this unhumanly immense burden, I’m gonna save you from yourself and if you’ll hate me for it so fucking be it. Silver has never been apolitical imo, because if you would ask him what he wanted to see different in the world, I have no doubt he’ll have an entire list of answers. He’s a pacifist at heart, doesn’t always act like one, reluctantly, but he is. He is down to fight for the right cause, just not in the destructive way Flint intended and Madi wanted to follow. And he’s happy for it, because it means he didn’t turn into Flint. Sidenote: Look at Silver’s eyes throughout all his emotional scenes, only his eyes, the sincerity and emotion he evokes with just his eyes when he speaks, Lord, they’re so communicative.

I remember Luke Arnold saying in an interview that Silver became a man trying to do right by Madi’s mother and her people, because of his love for her. So him caring about Madi meant him caring about her people and her cause by default (freeing slaves, not the violence or war that required it). The Similarities between him and Julius are also undeniable. How many times have we heard Silver questioning this war, not just because of Madi, but also because the casualties it would undoubtedly take. When they finally defeated Eleanor in taking over Nassau, Silver pretty quickly told Flint that he didn’t expect it all to happen so violently and chaotic. Even Dooley was shook.“ But Flint continued with his, it’s al normal and part of it in the beginning. Silver “admired” his optimism. This was BEFORE his one on one with Billy. And in episode 9 when Silver long put his exit strategy in place, he questioned Flint again on his war; What next? After all the chaos and distruction? Did you actually think this shit through? And again with all the downplaying and romantizing the outcome.

In a way Flint, a mad man with no intentions of fighting for the same cause (but probably even convinced himself that he was), was Madi’s only hope to realize her dream to fight all this injustice and oppression and to actually prevail in it, and that is just so very tragic. It makes me so angry that Flint gave her all this false hope that they could win. I hope she finds an other way, a better way to fight for this cause, her cause.

Okay, now that scene with the scared cook was such a good callback, because it makes you pause and reflect again on how far this Silver is from the man who he used to be in the first episode of season 1. That was just downright CHILLING, from the menacing “Are you a fucking coward?” to the terrified man telling him that he was just the cook, which made Silver stop in his tracks for a second (and probably realize how ironic it is that he of all people called him a coward). And when he screamed “IS SHE STILL ALIVE??!!!”. All of that was some straight up LJS. Man I am still astounded by the profound change this man has went through throughout this entire story. And I just knew that in whatever state he was gonna find Madi in he was gonna be absolutely gutted and heartbroken. I was completely with him through all his emotions, from the absolute fear of being too late and the devistating grief and disbelief of her possibly not being alive after all, to the snapping out of it when she turns her head towards him. God I just love how Silver always breaks down and changes from LJS the pirate to just John Silver, the person, the man, when he sees her, it’s downright magical. She’s just so incredibally precious and invaluable to him. When he held her head and pressed is head to her head, in that moment they both didn’t need to be strong anymore and Silver sat there like he was already home and never wanted to leave.

In their last scene Madi looked like she was finally ready for that first conversation since their fight, like she was ready to dip her toes in the Silver pool again and talk to him, not fight. And I admire her for it, because it shows that despite what he did, she was able to acknowledge why he did it. It speaks of true character on her part. I hope that she realizes and will come to appreciate that her alliance did have a big impact and that she did make a difference by creating the opportunity for the slave communities in Nassau to escape and aiding a big part of them to making it to Maroon Island. But also causing the mobilization of the Maroon leaders from other island communities who were inspired by what her alliance achieved and might pick up where she left off. The defeat of Rogers which allowed for Featherstone and Max to take over, two people I’d much rather deal with regarding resources from Nassau then Rogers. And yes, the treaty that guaranteed safety for the largly growing community on her island, that too. The abolition of slavery took milions of tiny and big steps throughout history, because it was that difficult to defeat. Even if the alliance could’ve achieved such an impossible feat, then it would still take a really long time for things to get better for Black people. But I get it, you don’t know until you see it with your own eyes and Madi is a really curious woman. In the end Madi has started to found her way back to Silver and that is all that matters to me. Silver, I swear to God, his stubborn faith in the power of his love for Madi and his unwavering dedication to her, uggh. I understand Madi’s anger completely, but I still love that Silver did what he did. That deep, passionate, emotional and intense connection that these two have, I’ve never seen anything like it portrayed this way on television. Realistic, organic and true, despite being such opposites on the inside and out, not giving a shit what the world thought of them daring to see each other for who they truly are. I swear, Romeo and Juliet could never! I’m really gonna miss them.

So yeah, I ugly cried a lot this episode because Madi and Silver are such painfully HEARTBREAKING characters, in who they are, what they went through and everything they stand for. All in all, this episode left me semi-satisfied / semi-conflicted, because there are still some emotional bruises for our couple and not everyone got their due imo.

I loved the way they ended the episode, because it didn’t feel like an ending. Just because this was the last episode of this show, just because Madi and Silver settled down or Flint is “gone”, it doesn’t mean the story is over. And the intro to Mary Read, I kinda screamed, because at first it was clear you heard a woman’s voice, cut to her face, then I thought: Jim Hawkins? Because she so specifically asked about LJS. Then I immediately thought, naaah, waaay too soon into the story. So the only thing I was left with was that actually made sense was Mary Read, because not only did she sound like a woman, but her boyish looks gave her away as well (Hence I thought she was Jim for a sec.). And when she introduced herself as “Mark” Read I was like OMG I knew it! The show introduced her character anywaaay (because the creators said they wanted to earlier in the show or at least thought about it, but eventually thought better of it in the end). And the way Anne immediately disregards her, boooy if she only knew, the two of you are in for a treat lol.

Community Service

A fun spec on Oliver finally coming out as the Green Arrow and his first public appearance.

Oliver sat in the rafters above the school auditorium at Laurel Lance Elementary.

Below him, about 200 students sat on folding chairs, shifting and fidgeting in their seats, anticipating Oliver’s arrival. Up on the stage, various faculty members also sat waiting, wondering if Oliver was actually going to show up for his scheduled appearance. He was already an hour late and they were getting worried that the kids might start to riot in protest.

Oliver had a City Council meeting earlier that morning which ran late, and when it finally ended, he had to rush back to the Bunker and don his other business suit—that of the Green Arrow. John, Rene and Felicity were also at the Bunker when he arrived, and they began to joke about him being Star City’s new costumed community service hero. Rene even went so far as saying that Mayor Queen was going to the school in drag.

It was Quentin, out of his Deputy Mayor’s office, who set all this up, arranging Oliver’s appearance with Principal Juarez. Lance told Oliver now that Mayor Queen had come out as Green Arrow, he needed to let the city know that Oliver Queen (and Green Arrow) was even more of an integral part of the community. Lance also told Oliver that this school visit would be good for the Mayor’s approval ratings. The Green Arrow’s as well.

“Oliver,” Felicity’s voice suddenly spoke through the com link in his ear. “I just got a call from the school asking if my husband is still coming. What are you waiting for?”

“Just checking out the area,” he told her.

Felicity chuckled in his ear. “Honey, this isn’t a mission you’re on. There are no bad guys or super villains you need to fight. They’re just kids waiting for their hero.”

A small grin appeared on his face. “Alright hon, call them back and let them know it’s show time.”

“Copy that. And Oliver…try to have some fun with this. We don’t have to hide all this anymore. Just be yourself…” Felicity fell silent for a few seconds then added, “Uh, actually, don’t be yourself. Maybe the public isn’t ready for that kind of scary.”

Oliver grunted back. “Uh, just stay with me. I might need your help fielding questions.”

“I’ll always be here,” Felicity told him.

Below him, Oliver noticed that the faculty suddenly became animated and Principal Juarez walked up to the microphone with sure, steady steps. The auditorium’s speaker system clicked on.

“Kids,” she spoke. “It’s time. Please join me in welcoming to our school…Mayor Queen and the Green Arrow.”

Thunderous applause drifted up to Oliver. He pulled a repelling arrow out of his quiver and found a spot on the stage to plant it.

Show time indeed, he thought. He let loose his arrow and descended into infamy.

Below the auditorium, down in the boiler room amid steam pipes and girders, 100lbs of C-4 was wired with two detonators, ready to take out the school and 5 surrounding blocks. On the floor next to the bomb, one of Oliver’s security detail from the city lay dead, blood congealing on the concrete floor from the head shot he took.

The countdown display screen on the C-4 read: 15:00 minutes.

“Yes, the boy in the blue shirt,” Oliver pointed out to the audience.

“My dad says you are a criminal,” the kid said. “He said that you use to kill people. Is that true?”

Oliver glared out at the kid and was ready to unleash his gruff Green Arrow voice.

“Oliver,” Felicity whispered in his ear. “Don’t go savage on the kid. Keep calm and answer the question as Mayor. The kid believes in you, despite what his father told him. Don’t prove him right.”

Oliver took a couple deep breaths, and then followed Felicity’s lead. “Son, what’s your name?”

“Bobby Caldwell,” the kid answered.

“Bobby,” Oliver responded. “Your father was right. I was a bad man six years ago, when I came back from the island Lian Yu. I spent a long time there and had some bad things happen to me. When I came back to the city, I didn’t like what was happening here and I was trying to stop all the criminals.”

“Is that why you killed them?” Bobby asked.

“Uh…” Oliver didn’t know what to tell the kid. “Well, it was a difficult time for me and…”

“Oliver,” Felicity chimed in again. “The kid is not going to understand this. Just assure him that you’re not a bad man anymore…well actually, you are bad, but in a good way…I mean with me; anyway, focus on all the good things you’ve done since the island.”

Oliver nodded. She was right. Now was not the time for therapy. He started to redirect his answer.

John suddenly came on the com channel. “Oliver, security detail #3 has gone silent. He missed his last check-in. Last known position was down in the boiler room.”

Oliver halted his answer for Bobby. “Felicity, are you picking up anything?”

“Stand by,” she told him. “I’m starting a search algorithm.”

Everybody in the auditorium was watching Oliver as he suddenly became still. They were not familiar with how he was when danger came calling. They had only read about him or seen him in brief coverage on TV. A new anticipation emanated from the students and staff. They might actually get to see the Green Arrow in action, and live.

“Oliver,” Felicity returned. “I’m reading an electronic signature about 200 feet below you.” She paused. “Oliver, the signature is similar to some kind of detonator.”

Oliver shifted fully into Green Arrow mode. He turned to Principal Juarez. “I need you to have the auditorium cleared out. Have your staff start leading the kids out of the building.”

“What…” the Principal started to say?

“Do it now,” Oliver told her. “There is a possible situation, maybe a bomb.”

That did it for her. Principle Juarez turned away and complied with Oliver’s directive.

Oliver reached the boiler room 8 minutes later. He found the dead security man—then he saw the bomb. He also saw the countdown indicator telling him he had six minutes before blast off.

“Felicity, it’s C-4. It looks like the one we, uh, I mean the one you and Roy disarmed at Rocket’s Arena 3 years ago.”

“I’m guessing there aren’t any coolant pipes above you?” Felicity asked.

Oliver looked up. “No, just more steam pipes. What’s the status of the auditorium evac?”

“SCPD dispatched 30 officers to the school. ETA is 10 minutes.”

“Not good enough. There’s six minutes left on the timer.”

“Oliver, please tell me you have a directional arrow with you. You remember the one we used on that bomb last year?”

Oliver smiled in response. “Honey,” he said to her. “I never leave home without one. You never know when you’ll come across a 100lb bomb out in the field. Stand by…”

Oliver pulled said arrow out, backed up about 20 feet, and then shot it at the countdown mechanism. It stuck and the relay arms latched on.

“It’s all yours, Felicity.”

“Ah…another piece of ugly modern art,” Felicity sighed in relief. “And by the way Mr. Mayor—I love you.”

Oliver smiled. “You know, I feel the same way about you. Let’s get the bomb squad down here and see if we can find some clues on who put this thing here.”

“Copy,” Felicity answered. “Does that mean the Mayor/Green Arrow assembly is over?”

“No way,” Oliver told her. “Little Bobby Caldwell is still waiting for an answer to his question.”
