you know you're a musician when

Creating art gives the artist a sense of vulnerability. Whether you’re a painter, musician, photographer, knitter, etc.. creating something and showing other people the product of your work is really fucking scary. You don’t know if it’ll be appreciated or not.

And if you’re anything like me, you probably automatically hate anything you do anyway.

Maybe it’s egotistical but it kind of hurts my feelings if someone asks me to create something for them but then seems indifferent when I present my work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect everyone to love what I give them. It’s okay if they don’t, as long as they tell me or direct me. Constructive criticism is great and guidance is appreciated since people tend to envision things differently. (Although I’d say the artist has creative freedom.) Lack of response isn’t what any artist is looking for. At least for me, it makes me doubt what I’m doing.
