A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC / A GATHERING OF SHADOWS by v. e. schwab sentence meme.

  • ❛  I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still.  ❜
  • ❛  After all, you can kill people, but you cannot kill magic. Not truly.  ❜
  • ❛  Impossible. What a useless word, in a world with magic.  ❜
  • ❛  Everyone thinks I have a death wish, you know? But I don’t want to die – dying is easy. No, I want to live, but getting close to death is the only way to feel alive. And once you do, it makes you realize that everything you were actually doing before wasn’t actually living. It was just making do. Call me crazy, but I think we do the best living when the stakes are high.  ❜
  • ❛  You have two faces. One you wear for the world at large, and the one you wear for those you love.  ❜
  • ❛  Everyone’s immortal until they’re not.  ❜
  • ❛  It is as it is. It cannot be undone. So please, be grateful, and be done with it.  ❜
  • ❛  The thing about freedom? It doesn’t come naturally. Almost no one has it handed to them. I’m free because I fought for it.  ❜
  • ❛  I know you can do this. I know you can hear me. Stay with me. Listen to my voice.  ❜
  • ❛  Maybe you just got a taste of what it really means to be alive. You almost died. So now you know what it feels like to live. To fear for that life. To fight for it. And once you know, well, there’s no going back.  ❜
  • ❛  You made a mistake. Everybody makes them. Even me. I’ve made many. It’s only fair that you made one.  ❜
  • ❛  I did only what I had to do. If I could have given my life for yours, I would have.  ❜
  • ❛  A kiss for luck. Not that I need it.  ❜
  • ❛  I know. I know what and who you are. What will you do? Kill me?  ❜
  • ❛  Why am I the only one in this fucking world to be held accountable for my actions?  ❜
  • ❛  Aren’t you afraid of dying?  ❜
  • ❛  I’m sorry. For whatever happened to you. For whoever hurt you so deeply that you see things like friends and fondness as weapons instead of shields.  ❜
  • ❛  You know so little of war. Battles may be fought from the outside in, but wars are won from the inside out.  ❜
  • ❛  Between the two of us, we’ll tear the whole world down.  ❜
  • ❛  I am going to cut that smile off your face.  ❜
  • ❛  It hurts. More than dying ever did. There are days when I feel like I deserve this.  ❜
  • ❛  Death doesn’t scare me. Not nearly as much as the idea of wasting a perfectly good life in fear of it.  ❜
  • ❛ You’re always so eager to slash and stab, why couldn’t you have stabbed him.  ❜
  • ❛  Which is it, huh? You’re angry at me, or worried about me, or happy to see me? Because I can’t keep up.  ❜
  • ❛  Wouldn’t it be amazing, if we got away with it?  ❜

a/n: Guess who saw Power Rangers and is predictable trash? Guess who loves all that trope-y cheesiness? Guess who doesn’t remember how to write, but is doing it anyways? Me me me. Anyways, I tried to bring the cheese, my friends, but I’m just not capable of writing poetry like ‘Are we Power Rangers or are we friends?’. Alas.

My Impression Of You

A/N: So, this is my first attempt to write a Riverdale one-shot! I was inspired to write this after I listened to some music and I hope you’ll like it! Archie’s personality is something I wonder about a lot while watching Riverdale and I explore that here. Please let me know what you think about it and if you’d like to read more! xo

Plot: Your perfectly normal day gets disturbed by Archie Andrews, one of the popular kids you usually only observe from a distance. Suddenly, though, you have one of the deepest conversations of your life and maybe have to revise your opinion about him.

It was a usual Friday afternoon when Archie Andrews decided to disturb your life. A wonderfully normal day in Riverdale like every other day, at least before Jason Blossom was murdered. You kept to yourself throughout the morning periods, as usually, ate your lunch in the sun under the big oak tree and pretty much spent the whole day thinking about how you could improve the stage design for the newest play the little drama group at your school was planning. That was your thing. Making props, painting them, working on them in peace and alone. That was what you loved most.

Only that Friday afternoon it didn’t go down like that. You sat down to continue painting the majestic tree that would be at the centre of the stage in act three, biting your lower lip, frowning and placing brush marks here and there in highest concentration. Forgetting pretty much everything around you or just blending it out because it didn’t matter in that moment. That’s why he caught you off guard when he cleared his throat to get your attention.

You twitched and turned around, staring at Archie Andrews standing there with a curious expression, grasping the strap of his backpack and wearing that blue and yellow football jacket that you never really liked. You just never got why they felt the need to wear them 24/7. Maybe to show their status, which didn’t make them appear any more sympathetic in your eyes.

“Ehm…did you lose your way?”, you asked him because nobody ever came into that room. Especially no popular kid. Never.

Archie raised his eyebrows in surprise and hurried to answer. “Oh, no, I was searching for the props department. That’s right here, isn’t it?”

“Yeah…what do you need?” You were absolutely aware of the fact that you sounded a little hostile but you couldn’t help yourself. Archie had never talked to you before. You doubted that he had even noticed you before. You only knew his voice from scraps of conversation you took up when you passed him in the hallway or, more currently, from when he was singing. He was one of the people who never really hurt others, or at least don’t attempt to do so, but also rest themselves in their social status without looking at those who surround them. At least that’s what you thought.

“Well, I thought I could do this as an extracurricular activity”, he explained, still without moving an inch. It was obvious that your reaction scared him away a little.

“But you’re in the football team”, you stated irritated.

“Yeah. So?”

“So why would you want to join the prop department? Which, by the way, consists of only me.”

“I kinda need the extra credit”, he finally admitted and you sighed to yourself. Of course. That was so typical. They thought painting cardboards was an easy way to gain credits. You actually would’ve been surprised if he had had any passion for this. Well, you didn’t really want to get upset about it because they usually never came back for a second time, so why bother?

“Alright. You can paint this tree over there, I already draw the lines and we can put it somewhere in the background. Just don’t screw up too badly”, you advised him, pointing at a prop in the corner of the room and returning to your own work. He shot you another amazed look before he pulled a chair to the cardboard, placed his backpack next to the door and sat down to start painting.

For a while you worked in silence and you tried to ignore that Archie was there, which was nearly impossible because whatever you could say about him, he definitely had some emission. While you were a person that could easily disappear in a crowd, he wasn’t. Maybe because of the red hair.

“Why are you the only one working on this?”, he asked you at some point without looking at you. It didn’t seem like the mere attempt to do smalltalk but like he was honestly interested in the answer, so you gave it.

“Because nobody gives a damn about theatre in this school”, you said, unable to hide the bitter tone in your voice. “It’s all about music. All about the Pussycats. Or people like you. And no offense, music is a form of art too, it deserves attention! But it’s really annoying that it gets so much of it and drama absolutely none.”

“Well…I don’t think it gets none…”, he mumbled with a frown.

“Really? Have you seen one play since you go to this Highschool?”, you stopped him right there, watching closely while he thought about it. Him pressing his lips together and not giving an answer was answer enough.

“Thought so. Like I said. It’s all about football, the Vixens and music.”

“And you don’t like any of that”, he mused. By now he totally forgot about painting the tree and was simply watching you closely, maybe trying to figure out where all the weirdness and bitterness came from. You were not a victim of bullying or in any way ugly. You just didn’t like those Higschool power games.

You pushed out a little laugh at his statement and shot him an amused look, meeting his warm brown eyes for the first time. “No. That’s not the point. I do like watching football games like every other person. I do like listening to the Pussycats, although it’s not necessarily my type of music. I just…I just don’t like the whole thing surrounding it, you know? All these people enjoying their popularity and the attention others, and with that I mean normal students like me, give them and not even minding to get to know our names. Like we aren’t part of the same school.”

It was confusing that he made you open up like that but it also felt good to get it off your chest. Although it probably wasn’t fair that he was the one receiving all your anger because he really wasn’t the worst of the lot by far.

Archie now looked at you with raised eyebrows. For the first time since he entered the room, a little smile played around his lips. It changed his face very positively.

“Y/F/N Y/L/N”, he suddenly said triumphantly.

You blinked at him, honestly astounded. “What?”

“Y/N. That’s your name. We have been in the same school since first grade, why wouldn’t I know your name?”

His smile widened a bit at your expression and you quickly hid behind your tree, not wanting to give him the satisfaction. Although you really were surprised. You hadn’t expected that. Your paths never crossed and you never had the feeling like Archie was particularly aware of your existence.

“Okay, I’ll grant you that. Doesn’t change the bigger picture, though”, you grumbled.

He was silent for another moment and you already thought that you won and finally hushed him when he suddenly asked: “You don’t like me much, do you?” Still the question didn’t sound like he was upset or mad about your behaviour but simply curious.

You sighed once again and rolled your chair aside so you fully faced him. He was returning your gaze attentively, as if you were a particularly interesting object in a museum. You almost blushed but you were able to keep your cool and stare at him as patronizing as possible.

“Look, Archie, it’s not like that. I don’t even really know you. I simply don’t like the fact that everybody thinks people like you are perfect.”

“I’m not perfect”, he shot back automatically.

“Oh, I know.”

You realized too late that that was really offensive. You felt the heat creeping into your cheeks as his mouth dropped open and Archie looked hurt for a moment. He squinted his eyes and ran his fingers through his red hair, probably contemplating how he was supposed to react.

“What do you mean with that?”, he asked you in the end, sounding more careful and restrained than before.

You gulped down your embarrassment and searched for words that could explain what you actually meant.

“Well…I can only tell you what I observed from a distance. But in my opinion you are always really trying to do the right thing and often screw up. There is that thing with Betty. I mean, everybody in this school knows what’s been going on there and she is an absolute sweetheart but you kinda let her down the worst way possible. I am not saying that you don’t like her or respect her but you could’ve done that way more sensible. Especially since you obviously returned from this summer less boyish, whatever the reason for that is.”

Archie listened to you patiently, not interrupting you or getting angry at you which might have been a reasonable reaction to the accusations of a person that he had nothing to do with. It seemed more like he wanted to hear it, like he wondered a lot about himself but needed someone else to deliver conclusions and solutions. You felt your respect for him growing a bit because not many people were able to accept criticism like him.

“I know that I hurt Betty and I really regret that, but I didn’t do it on purpose”, he defended himself in the end, his eyes mirroring the pain he obviously felt about it.

You gave him a little understanding smile. “Of course not. Honestly, Archie, I think your problem is your insecurity. Betty was in a bad place the last few weeks, probably because of her sister or something, I’m not sure, and I gotta say that I was surprised when you weren’t really there for her. I guess you were so indulged in your music and in your fears of not being good enough in what you do. You just don’t believe enough in yourself, which is absurd regarding that everyone around you supports you. You always need people helping you, telling you that you have talent and then you engage in those far too quickly. And with that I mean Victoria and Valerie. Instead of letting them build your confidence, maybe you should learn to build it up on your own.”

You were a little bit confused yourself why you knew so much about him, so you couldn’t judge him for being even more irritated. You both totally forgot why you were here and simply sat in that room and looked at each other while Archie was processing what you just said. If he decided to simply run away now you would’ve understood. But he didn’t.

“Fair enough. I guess I have to think about it. There is one thing I don’t get, though: you seem to be interested in what’s happening around you, in the people that surround you. You even said that Betty is an absolute sweetheart, but you never returned her attempts to make conversation. So why don’t you mingle more and at least try to share your passion with others?”, he investigated, now sitting on the edge of his chair, his body tensed as if he found this dialogue quite fascinating.

It was the first time that you were on the defensive side and you immediately felt uneasy when he spoke about your persona. You were a lot better at reflecting others than yourself. You bit your lower lip and instead of keeping to look at him, your gaze returned to your half-finished tree. That made answering a little bit easier.

“Well, I guess I have to think about it.”

You missed the smirk that appeared on Archie’s face as you repeated his retort. He watched you for some time while you started to paint again, caught up in his own thoughts that you produced with your words. He didn’t have such an intense conversation for a very long time.

As the bell rang, both of you almost jumped. Man, that hour passed quickly. You were almost sorry when Archie got up from his chair and threw his backpack over his shoulder. And you were annoyed at yourself for that. But this exchange of words was the most interesting and intimate thing that happened to you in quite some time.

“This definitely turned out different than I thought but it was entertaining. I’ll see you next week”, he told you, grinning at you before he left the room. Although he didn’t look mad you were pretty sure that he wouldn’t return for another session. Little did you know that you awoke Archie’s curiosity. And little did you realize how much he awoke yours.

GoT Afterthoughts 7x01 (Jonsa edition).

Okay, so I had to watch this twice, as I was semi-distracted with my rugrats who haven’t mastered staying in bed after they’re tucked in, yet (or ever ..probably). For my fellow Jonsa shippers -anchors aweigh, but we’ll come back to that later ….as romance is really not what this show hinges on. I apologize in advance that this will probably hop around and be as scattered as my brain, but I’ll do my best to keep it tidy.

So right out of the gate, this season kicked off with our sweet baby murder Stark posing as crusty old man Frey and taking out all those responsible for the Red Wedding. Sweet, sweet retribution my friends, and while I gleefully squealed with joy that all those rat bastards got what they deserved, I’m almost positive that Arya will take up the books Lady Stoneheart arc, and therefore, I truly worry about her longevity in the series.

Then we see an eerie shot of the NK’s army marching forward (clearly towards the wall), and it’s massive! With fucking Giants! Giants my dudes and dolls -and quite a few of them. So a lot of people think the Wall is coming down at some point this season, but as Meera and Bran arrive at Castle Black I can’t help but wonder if the Wall even needs to come down? Remember when Bran sneakily wargged while the three-eyed-raven was sleeping and the NK touched him and then was able to instantly transport his entire army right to their doorstep? What if he can do that now that Bran has crossed to the other side of the Wall?

Back to Jonsa, as we were treated with a delightful scene of our KitN and the Lady of Winterfell (ahem, seated at his left as the King’s consort would be) entertaining their subjects of the North, as Jon rallies support to prepare for the coming war(s). They have a spat about what to do with the houses land/keeps that threw their support behind Ramsey. Sansa wants to reward the loyal houses and set a punishable example for those who abandoned the Starks in their time of need, while Jon refuses to punish the children for the sins of their fathers and is much more interested in UNITING the north. I have to say that while I understand exactly why Sansa feels this way (considering the horrors that Ramsey put her through), I’m behind Jon on this one, and judging by her facial expression after the children knelt before Jon, I believe that Sansa saw this too. And fuck that smirking snake Littlefinger always lurking around like some creepy child abductor in the shadows!

So at first this scene kind of upset me (the first time around I was more listening than watching expressions -remember the rugrats not staying in bed? lol) because I kind of disliked the two of them arguing in plain view of everyone else (ugh and ESPECIALLY in front of LF who is just waiting to stir the shitpot) -and I couldn’t help but cringe inwardly at all the rumors of this Starkbowl BS and how everyone was going to immediately jump to conclusions ….

But then we are treated to the next lovely Jonsa scene of them strolling through Winterfell (very reminiscent of a beloved past KitN and his lady-love) and the reasoning behind Sansa’s outburst becomes a bit more clear (at least to me) …her father and Robb- one tried to always be just and fair and the other was inexperienced and rash, and look where it got them? Right now Jon is all she has, and she’s determined not to see him end up the same way. Sansa knows how to play the game -she’s got the political savvy that Jon lacks and she’s damn well going to question his judgement sometimes (and yes girl, yessss! She’s come so far) -and what’s better, she CAN! Jon pretty much tells her so “of course you can, you’re my sister, but ….” He simply doesn’t want her to do so in front of their “subjects” as undermining him makes him look weak. He’s not power hungry like Joffrey -a juxtaposition that was even brought up in their conversation, with Sansa confirming that Jon is the polar opposite (shipping goggles fully affixed: she does so with the sweetest most heartfelt imploring expressive eyes - le sigh). Starkbowl is a sham! Our babies hashed this out and did not let it fester with resentment. Jon needs to LISTEN to her council (and no Jon, that would not be so bad)!

And while my shipping goggles are on, let’s talk about this tension -let’s talk about Jon marching ahead stubbornly and Sansa grabbing his arm to get his attention. Let’s talk about the cameras focusing in on that. Let’s talk about how Jon’s eyes immediately drop to their point of contact -and why is he so tense? Hmmmmmm. I think our ship has become more like a submarine (meaning that it’s a steady hum just below the waters surface) -because it has to be right now. Because they are still siblings.

Bonus (and I’m paraphrasing): Jon- “father always said that anything that comes before ‘but’ is horse shit..” Also Jon- “you’re my sister, ‘but’ …” *thank you fellow Jonsa shippers @starks-in-the-north and @cathcacen for pointing this little gem out.* 😂

This Jonsa scene was immediately followed by another bro/sis pair - Queen Cersei and Jamie - (who pretty much spent the entire scene looking at her like she done lost her damn mind). Could Cersei be the mad queen? She’s got nothing else left to lose. Oh, and Euron is a jerk … can’t wait until Yara and Theon kill his ass!

Back to Winterfell! Okay, I ship the crap out of Brienne/Jamie but Tormund’s crush on B is giving me LIFE! I simply adore that he has heart eyes for her, and it’s even more adorably adorable because Brienne hasn’t exactly had a long line of suitors. She knows that deep down she’s kinda flattered -even if she’s also annoyed! lol And my precious baby deserves a little flattery because she’s just fucking wonderful and I love her and I want her to feel special like she did that day at the dance before she realized what those rotten little shits were up to! And while I’m ranting about my precious cinnamon roll, how about her face when little Lyanna (also a precious cinnamon roll who will slit your throat) proudly declared that she would fight! I need these two babies to have more scenes together this season - PLEASE!

Wow, this is getting long and I’ve barely scratched the first couple of scenes! Sorry guys, but I’m not done ranting yet and I know I’ve jumped around and am not tackling this in any sort of order ….

Sansa and LF … my God, baby girl! Her tongue is as sharp as her wit! There is NO WAY IN HELL that I would ever believe she’d betray Jon with this weasel. She’s onto him and she is taking him down. Now, would she manipulate the manipulator into thinking this in order to take him down? Umm yeah.

Sam is not exactly having a great time at the Citadel, but he has already stumbled onto something important -a dragon glass mine under Dragon Stone. So Jon will likely go south soon. Before all of you start panicking about the leaks and “boatbang”, I advise you all that attractive people can have sex in the absence of love and if it happens, I implore you to pay attention to the context. Jon is still under the impression that Sansa is his SISTER. A sexual tryst doesn’t impede a Jonsa endgame, my loves!

We now also know where Jorah has ended up, and it looks like his entire arm is now covered. How far has it spread? I miss him!

The Hound also seems to have an important role in the upcoming battle. I’m glad that he buried that family that he murdered. I’ve always been on the fence with his character -like Jamie, he walks a fine line. I’m really looking forward to an Arya/Hound reunion. And speaking of Arya … I really enjoyed the scene of the Lannister soldiers offering her food/shelter for the night. I was kind of worried when she first came upon them because this is GoT and rape and all -but at its core, it was a very moving scene that these men who are actually supposed to be her enemies, showed her nothing but kindness.

The dragon queen has arrived. Love her or hate her, Dany’s arrival at her ancestral home was pretty moving -especially seeing the dragons circling overhead! Wow - powerful scene! The castle is fucking GORGEOUS on the outside, although the dreary decor inside leaves much to be desired. I actually really love Dany -she has definitely gotten darker since Astapor, but I still love her. I’ve had a very strong feeling for quite some time now that she would become an antagonist once she stepped on Westeros soil ….only time will tell.

If you made it all the way through my rambling madness - thanks for sticking around. Jonsa is still endgame. See you next Sunday!

“I won’t allow it.” Hux says, as if he has any authority on the issue. It makes Kylo scoff in response, his anger bubbling to the surface the longer Hux speaks. He wishes he had his helmet, something to keep the General from seeing his visual displeasure at the other’s words. But his helmet is gone; one of the many losses from Starkiller he would rather forget.

Unfortunately, the failure Hux and him share binds them together, forces them to work side by side longer and try to save the First Order from drowning in Its own embarrassment.

A weapon fired once; a regime dismantled by a handful of rebels.

Hux has become especially intolerable, hyper focusing his energy on proving himself in the aftermath, giving Kylo little leeway to do as he wishes. Yet Hux has no control over Kylo, not really, but the Knight cannot simply ignore him, not when the Supreme Leader himself has chastised Kylo for his inability to see beyond his own selfish desires. No, he is forced to work with Hux, as amicably as possible, a feat Kylo is finding more and more impossible as the weeks go by.

It feels like Hux is actively trying to sabotage him, throwing a wrench in every plan and move of Kylo’s. It’s a jarring reversal of roles; Hux refusing to bend and Kylo attempting to reason.

“You cannot stop me. I will go, whether you give me clearance or not.” Kylo replies, trying to keep his tone from becoming petulant; a childish whine.

“We cannot spare troops at this moment for you to explore some abandoned moon. In case you forgot, our numbers are suffering from our losses on Starkiller.” Hux spits out the word Starkiller, and Kylo can feel Hux’s disgust toward the word. Kylo can at least understand that, at hating something that you once loved. It’s how he feels when he recalls memories of Ben’s, how they leave a sour taste in his mouth when once the memories were sweet.

They shouldn’t be arguing like this, not on the bridge. It make the crew tense, and Hux used to actively move their transgressions to conference rooms or the General’s office just to save moral. But that was Hux before Starkiller, this is Hux now.

Now, Kylo is expected to do this, to hold himself to a higher standard on his own. Hux no longer wastes energy trying to reason with Kylo, subdue him. It leaves Kylo to policing his own emotions and reactions, which he has never done well. He should be glad, happy even, that Hux no longer wastes time treating him like a kriffing child. Yet all he can muster is confusion and annoyance, off balance from the change in their interactions. He had not realized how much Hux was holding back Kylo’s inner monsters until they were allowed to run free.

“There is power there: I can feel it. If you will not approve than I will go to the Supreme Leader. I cannot expect someone like you to understand the force.”

“I have already spoken to him. He agrees it is a foolish waste of resources.” Hux replies in his cold, clinical tone. But Kylo can feel the smugness, see the slight upturn of his lips at besting the Knight, making him look the fool. It sends a fresh wave of anger through him, his fists curling and uncurling at his sides.

He longs to ignite his saber, to cut the grin off of the General’s face. How dare he think he is above Kylo, as if Kylo is some lowly officer with no real power. As if he doesn’t have a fearful control of the force.

Kylo steps forward, looms in the Generals space; the height difference is slight, but Kylo is larger, massive compared to Hux’s small frame. He uses it to his advantage as he crowds near him; intimidating by sheer size alone.

Hux, impressively, does not flinch. He has the gall to look bored, his expression hard as he keeps eye contact with the Knight. Even a quick surface read of Hux’s mind shows the General knows Kylo won’t hurt him; cannot do it. Hux knows that Snoke has forbid it, though Hux has never explicitly heard the Supreme leader say it. He just knows in his core that if Kylo could hurt him he would have already, probably on their very first meeting.

Kylo isn’t sure what angers him more, Hux’s presumptuousness or the fact that he is right. He isn’t allowed to harm Hux, as much as every fiber of his being wants too, yearns too.

“You think,” Kylo starts to say, voice low with warning. Hux does not move. “That you are safe from me. That the Supreme Leader will always agree to put your safety above my desires. You are wrong. You are replaceable, nothing but one of many officers on this ship. You are nothing, nothing but the Bastard son of-”

Kylo doesn’t get to finish as Hux slaps him suddenly, and with full force. The leather of Hux’s glove makes it sting even more, and briefly Kylo is thankful it is not on the side with his scar.

He’s stunned. To stunned to respond. No one has ever dared to lay a hand on him before. In all his battles and training no one has ever slapped him, and he is so shocked he can feel tears pin prick his eyes from the burn of it. Hux stands there, shaking with anger instead of fear after daring to lay a hand on Snoke’s apprentice.

The bridge is deathly silent with the weight of what happened. Three officers stand from their seats and point their blasters at Kylo, even though Hux is the one who attacked him. A quick scan of their minds show they are afraid Kylo will retaliate; will harm Hux for his insubordination. And Kylo has every right to punish Hux, to choke him where he  stands for daring to humiliate him in front of the crew. Yet everyone in the room is on Hux’s side, ready to shoot Kylo down should he dare make a move.

Kylo stands there looking bewildered, and the tension in the atmosphere is so palpable he threatens to choke on it. He has verbally sparred with Hux many times over the years, said horrible degrading things to the General. Why now did he choose to get so offended as to risk his life to punish Kylo? The Knight barely has to graze Hux’s surface thoughts to see the word ‘bastard’ shining at the forefront, consuming Hux with rage. Kylo had never said it before now, unknowing of the effect it would have on the man.

He looks around the room, at the officers scared for their lives as well as Hux’s, to the man himself staring daggers at Kylo.

He should punish Hux, no one in this room can truly stop him. Kylo is far too powerful both physically and mystically. Even the Supreme Leader would forgive him, for Hux truly deserves retribution for his slight.

He went too far, he knows this now. What little civility they had is gone, and any feelings of co-commandership Hux felt is replaced with pure hatred for Kylo. Kylo didn’t realize they had anything left to lose until now; he can feel the rage and pure animosity rolling off of Hux.

Kylo turns, marching off the bridge and away from the scene, leaving Hux and his officers to deal with the aftermath. Surely they are more shocked at Kylo’s non-reaction than anything else.

It takes a week after the incident for Kylo to finally address it. Hux has been treating him colder; ignoring him and answering in short, to-the-point sentences. Kylo didn’t think it was possible for Hux to be even more dismissive and cold to him, yet the General is always full of surprises.

More shocking is how Kylo himself feels about the change.

He misses his interactions with Hux, as limited as they were. He misses how before Starkiller, the General would stop Kylo’s tantrums, would calm him simply by being. How Hux could spar verbally with him, often winning with his cunning and leaving Kylo frustrated at losing. But as much as he misses that, after the ‘incident’ things have only gotten worse. Hux has become almost droid like in his conversations with Kylo, a machine who answers his inquiry, and nothing more.

Its maddening, especially as Hux occupies most of his human interactions on the Finalizer. He has no one now, nor does he want anyone else.

Finally reaching his breaking point, he corners Hux in his office, somewhere the General can not easily escape him.

“We have something to discuss.” He says simply, standing in front of Hux’s desk; neat and orderly like the man himself.

Hux doesn’t look up from his data pad. “And what is that, Ren?” It’s cold, impersonal. Kylo can feel the resentment rolling off of Hux, feel his surprise at how Kylo has still not retaliated after what he did barely a week ago.

“I’ve…come to apologize.” It’s hard to say; admit. He hasn’t apologized since leaving Ben behind. So sure in his purpose and actions, uncaring who his rage is aimed at or hurts.

Hux actually looks up from his data pad at that, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. “For what, may I ask?”

Kylo can feel that Hux knows what, but refuses to say. Hux is just as shocked as Kylo is at the declaration; neither of them sure what the next step is.

“For what I said, on the bridge. It was….uncalled for; untrue. I went to far. I…I’m sorry.” He had thought he would feel shame at admitting being wrong, but instead he feels…relief, as if a weight has been lifted. Hux continues to stare, hard eyes judgmental as they take in Kylo’s words. Finally he stands, comes to be in front of Kylo. It is similar to how they were on the Bridge the day of the incident, but the energy is different.

Hux’s eyes search him, as if looking for a hidden deception. “Do you mean it? Or is this some game of yours?”

“I’m telling the truth. I swear it.”

Hux’s shoulders relax, the tension leaving his body. A quick read of his mind finds him accepting of the apology, although still shocked by it.

“I can’t change what I said,” Kylo continues, emboldened by the positive response. “But I can prevent it from happening again.  Perhaps we can meet at my quarters for dinner, discuss how to make this co-commandership work?”

Hux gives a curt nod, but lets slip a soft smile. “Of course. I will see you after my shift.” The General returns to his desk, to his work. To anyone else it would have looked like Hux was indifferent to the entire situation, but Kylo can see the small shift in behavior. The casual way he is sitting, the thrum of energy surrounding him. Kylo smiles, dismissing himself from Hux’s office. He feels this is the start of something new between them, something more than just begrudging acceptance. He isn’t sure what, but he is excited, looking forward to a new chapter between them that isn’t just heated rivalry.

If his steps are a little lighter, his face less severe as he walks down the halls, the troopers dare not say anything about it.

the shinji matou meta that nobody asked for

EDIT: note that this post is poorly worded & sounds far more forgiving of shinji than intended. I’m leaving it as is because I don’t want to pretend I never said this but it is not an accurate representation of my opinion of shinji

ultimately shinji is a really tragic character. nobody has to feel sorry for him and he deserved everything he had coming for him because he’s responsible for his own evil actions as a (reasonably) sane rational person but the reason he became the kind of person that made the choices he did is a tragic one if you ask me.

the matous (sakura, shinji, kariya, byakuya, zouken) are the main exhibit on Why Magus Culture Is Fucked Up. each of them shows a different aspect of how incredibly creepy magus families are and how it fucks people up, and shinji’s case in particular shows how this fucked up mage culture perpetuates itself because he’s the abused-kid-turned-abuser. don’t think for even one second that shinji had it easy with the matous, they’re the matous. shinji is a collection of fears and insecurities carefully taped together with a fragile ego.

shinji matou has no redeeming qualities. his entire character is built around that he has absolutely nothing going for him. he has no magic ability, no particular other skill that really stands out, and no good personality to make up for it either. and this is terrifying to him, because he’s a matou, and a matou that has no use gets fed to the worms. his mother got fed to the worms as punishment for having such a useless kid as shinji. I don’t know if shinji knew that it was death by worm pit specifically at the time but he no doubt knew that You Do Not Go Against Grandfather Or You Will Die even before he actually found out about the flesh eating worms part.

Alright, Clue Crew, here it is- the villain ranking nobody asked for!  This was harder than expected, and I tried to make a logical way of ordering things, but who am I to judge who was the best ne’er-do-well?  If you have any questions about my ranking, want an explanation, or just want to yell at me, shoot me an ask.

33. SCK- Mitch Dillon

Do I remember much about this guy? No, no I do not.  I remember that he was a drug dealer and wasn’t in most of the game, so I never felt anything towards him.  That being said, he did kill a high school student, so I wouldn’t mess with him.  As far as character development goes, I give him an F.  Sorry not sorry Mitch.

32. MED- Sonny Joon? Or Kiri??? Who tf knows???

The real culprits of MED are the people who thought this game was a good idea.  All jokes aside, I don’t know if I want to list Sonny Joon as a villain, because he’s been such a cool character that has reappeared (but never actually appeared) throughout the games.  I don’t like how they introduced him- a game show?  Really?  It sounds fun in theory, but it doesn’t logically lead to finding that Annunaki shit he was looking for, in my mind at least.  He could have easily found Nancy (they have enough mutual friends by now) and been like “Hey what’s up hello I wanna find this shit help me out”.  Anyway, I think his character design for the game was sloppy- they spent so much time hyping this guy up over the course of the games, and then we meet this purple-haired guy who only speaks in riddles that try to make him sound edgy?  That’s like half of the people on tumblr (no offense to tumblr lol).  This game lowkey pisses me off, and they could do better with Sonny’s character.  As for Kiri, she was just kinda there until the end when she was like “lol okay i’ll be the bad guy in this competition” no thanks.

31. SCK: R- Detective Beech

I was hesitant to put this game into the mix, but it’s only fair, because it has a different ending than the original SCK.  Detective Beech seemed weird from the get-go, but I wasn’t ready for him to pull a fucking gun on Nancy.  And if you choose the wrong things, he will legitimately kill you, and it’s extreme.  It was cool that they changed the ending, but let’s get real here, when they said there would be a different ending and then Detective Beech showed up, did anyone not think “yeah it’ll probably be him”.  There were enough turns to get me to doubt a bit, but it was pretty obvious.  So, yeah, points for pulling a gun on Nancy, deductions for being obvious.

30. TRT- Lisa Ostrum

Oh, Lisa- what a chatty character.  She literally never shuts up in the final tower scene, and then decides to momentarily incapacitate Nancy for her big escape instead of trying something more permanent.  That pepper spray had the most extra name ever, like you could have just said “pepper spray” to get the message across.  Also- since everyone is snowed in, she wouldn’t have anywhere to go once she got away.  Flawed plan aside, she always bugged me.  Sorry Lisa, take your catchphrases and bobblehead somewhere else.

29. CLK- Jane Willoughby

CLK is fine as a game, and I love the aesthetic, but it’s not one of my favorites.  I thought Jane was an okay villain, with identity theft and attempted robbery and all that jazz, but she doesn’t really stick out in my mind, save for the plethora of “you betcha”s.  The endgame was also weird to me- I wouldn’t expect a game set in the 1930’s to end in a car chase that causes a pie explosion, but less believable things have happened to Nancy Drew.  I don’t hate Jane as a villain, but this game came right after some really stellar games- some of my favorites (DDI, SHA, and CUR)- so I can see why this one felt a little flat to me.  Jane’s plan was actually pretty good, and it’s something that couldn’t be pulled off today as easily as in the 30s, so props to her.

28. STFD- Dwayne Powers

I honestly have mixed feelings about Dwayne because of everything that has transpired with his character, but attempting murder out of jealousy? That’s extreme, and I feel like it was a well-done crime, all things considered.  Plus, I didn’t notice until after playing the game a few times that Owen W. Spayder is an anagram for Dwayne Powers.  Very sneaky, HeR.  While I’ll cover Dwayne in RAN later, I do think that he would be one to seek revenge, so his return almost made sense to me.

27. SSH- Taylor Sinclair

This guy seemed overly nice from the beginning.  Cookies from Oaxaca?  You know he’s hiding something.  He was too nice to make me feel comfortable when talking to him, and locking Nancy in a grave with a corpse? Eek, no thanks.  I’m kinda peeved that we never got to really catch him, because while we were trying to get out of that stone death chamber, Taylor was captured, Henrik regained his memory, AND all the other characters decided to get all chummy with each other.  Pretty convenient ending, if you ask me.

26. RAN- Dwayne Powers (again)

Oh god, here we go.  RAN is not a loved game by most of the Clue Crew (there are some outliers who like it, no shame to them), but in all honesty, I liked that they brought back an old villain.  I don’t like this game at all, and I think they could have done something waaaay more creepy with a returning villain (it’s clear Dwayne has been tracking Nancy- he could have played so many mind games with her regarding past cases), but yeah, bringing back Dwayne wasn’t a terrible idea at all, they just went about it wrong.  His nefarious acts were more villainous to me in this game for whatever reason- maybe it was his hiding in plain sight (or hiding Bess in plain sight for that matter), or his strategic planning that showed just how far he’d go to get revenge.  It makes sense that he got away tbh- I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw him again.  If we do, can I ask HeR to make that one extra scary- he could set up a series of events that play out like all her past cases leading up to that one, and make references only she could know about, and damn this is a good idea someone hire me.

25. HAU- Fiona, like kinda

Can I put Fiona down as the culprit here?  Like, yeah, she kidnapped a guy and pushed Nancy down a hole and caused some havoc, but she’s also a feral old woman on a jet pack, so is it her fault she’s this way??  Who’s the real culprit of this game, a society that will accept this and say “ah fuck it she’s a banshee that dude’s gone pass the non-alcoholic drinks”?  Anyway.  While I like HAU and it’s quirky puzzles and charming atmosphere and gorgeous music, that ending is so out of left field it’s kind of funny to me- like suddenly the game just goes “HERE HAVE AN OLD WOMAN GIVE YOU A JUMP SCARE THEN SOLVE A HARD CHEMICAL PUZZLE”- it seems so out of place to me, but it made for a relatively pleasant ending for all, so no harm done, I guess?

24. TRN- Lori Gerard

Lori is another villain that doesn’t stick out to me, because I honestly see her as an accidental villain.  I don’t think she wanted to hurt Nancy, I just think she wanted to prove everyone wrong and show herself as a smart and capable woman.  However, the way she went about it wasn’t cool, so yeah, villain status for her.  I thought her disappearing act was clever, and her character as a whole is hilarious to me, so she’s not on the rotten side of villains in my perspective.  Lori is dramatic as hell and super spoiled so that always makes for an entertaining character, and it wasn’t SUPER obvious that they would make the hostess the culprit, so she’s not too high on the list, but it doesn’t make her bad.  Honestly, she and Tino Balducci deserve each other.

23. CRE- Mike Mapu

Big. Island. Mike.  The man, the myth, the legend.  The Clue Crew’s fascination with this character will never cease to amuse me.  And yet, while I think he’s a fine character, I’m not thrilled by his role as a villain.  His reveal at the end just seemed so…anticlimactic?  And he seemed to quickly change his mind?  One minute he was all “we have angered Kane Okala oh nooooo” and then the next he’s like “y’all can die for all I care” and peaces tf out of the volcano or wherever they were.  This whole game was just very “eh” for me.  Big Island Mike is a great meme, and good on him for going all “fuck you” to capitalism and whatnot, but I wasn’t thrilled by his ENDLESS parade of chores and the random-ass snowcone guessing game annoyed me more than Fox & Geese (hard to believe).  Still, I’d stay at Mike’s resort if I went to Hawaii, because I think he’d be a fun guy.

22. ICE- Yanni Volkstaia

Now, I don’t want to come right out and say that ICE was made in the Cold-War era as a thinly-veiled anti-USSR game, but nobody’s believing that Yanni is really from “motherland Fredonia”, amiright?  All jokes aside, I like ICE as a game (with the exception of fox and geese jfc), and the ending had you believing there was a different villain every minute (or like, every five minutes), but I was kind of disappointed that one of the wisest, most intriguing characters in the whole game was the villain.  That being said, if you go back and play the game, you can see how Yanni is constantly talking about how wolves are bad omens and this one is a sign of evil aaaaaaaah and it makes sense that he’s trying to get people away from the lodge that way.  Also, this guy is a pro athlete.  Do you really want me to believe that Nancy Drew can run him off the snow and force him to confess??

21. TOT- Scott Varnell

TOT is kind of a breath of fresh air as a low-stakes internship simulator where you can run stoplights and take pictures of clouds and trap mice a thousand times.  That being said, I don’t feel threatened by Scott, so he seems like a more casual villain to me, if that makes any sense.  Nancy kind of inadvertently saves his life, right?  Like kind of?  So I’m pretty chill with this whole game and with Scott- at the end of the game, it really feels like nothing big was lost, but nothing big was gained, which is honestly a nice break from the mindset of “do this or you DIE BY THE HANDS OF THE VILLAIN”

20. FIN- Joseph Hughes

Why does Nancy trust this guy so much throughout the game??? It annoys me to no end that she tells him e v e r y t h i n g.  But really, I couldn’t help but feel bad for this guy.  You find out that his brother died, so he might be in denial or in the early stages of dementia.  Still, he kidnapped Maya, and almost got her and Nancy killed (whether that was intentional or not), and that last scene with him when Nancy was trying to tell him what was really going on was terrifying to me when I was younger.  He seemed sorry though, so he’s not a ~hardcore villain~ in my eyes.

19. DAN- Minette

I feel like making Minette the villain was a really predictable move, but there needs to be a predictable character every once in awhile, right?  I loved her erratic and aggressive character, but the endgame was so weird to me that it kind of spoiled the game for me.  However, I liked that HeR made Minette a designer for plus-sized women, and that plot to bug the First Lady’s dress?  Clever.  The ending with blocking Minette’s attacks will forever confuse me- it seemed very out of left field and honestly, I want Nancy to beat someone up, not just block their sound-specific hits.  I was also disappointed about Minette’s reason for her mask- they couldn’t have tried a little harder and made it some botched plastic surgery or something??

18. WAC- Corine Myers

The roommate trope!  Love it or hate it, it’s here.  I have mixed feelings about WAC- I generally like it, but the characters’ oversized eyes bug me to no end, and I feel like there could be a little more Edgar Allen Poe mixed in there, but overall it’s a solid game.  I can’t stand some of the characters- Leela is so fucking annoying (I think it’s her voice that gets to me), and the twin reveal makes absolutely no sense (how’re you gonna live two lives if you only have documentation for one person??), but they’re not the villains, so I’ll gloss over that.  Corine had a well-thought-out plan and stuck to it, even though she came close to killing a few people.  She’s a wickedly smart girl, and she knows it, and I think that’s what made her so dangerous.  Also, did Corine not go to jail for what she did?  I get that she’s a minor, but she caused some real damage to these people.  Whatever- I don’t think she’d come for Nancy for revenge, but I wouldn’t want to room with her again.

17. TMB- Abdullah Bakhoum

I’ve loved learning about Ancient Egypt since I was little, so TMB was really fun for me.  I liked Abdullah as a villain- it certainly made sense why he did what he did- but again, it felt a little obvious.  He’s too self-centered and abrasive to let anyone else get that much attention, even an unnamed villain.  Anyway, I think TMB gets a lot of flack for being forgettable, and yeah I can understand that, but it’s a solid game and that end puzzle was really fun for me, so I’m still rooting for this game!

16. MHM- Louis Chandler

Louis is a pretty tame villain, in my opinion.  I love MHM, but I never felt like the villain in that game was out to hurt me.  If anything, I was more worried about the mansion itself, because I still believe that it was actually haunted (fucked me up as a kid).  Still, he did a good job of trying to steal the treasure, so props to him.  He did kind of creep me out, and it always bugged me that he kicked Nancy out of the mansion for literally reading the same book he read.

15. ASH- Brenda Carlton

Brenda Carlton is so fucking annoying to me, let’s get that out of the way.  She’s such a slimy reporter that will do anything to get the story she wants (she is willing to dress up as Nancy and set a historic building on fire just to ruin one person’s reputation jfc).  I’m starting to notice a theme of pettiness with these villains, tbh.  Anyway, I commend her dedication to her cause, that’s something I can always respect, but if Nancy Drew can solve your crime from a jail cell, is it really that airtight of a plan??  Tbh I think the reason why I dislike Brenda so much is that she somehow gets everyone to turn on Nancy, a girl that has helped countless people and has a shining reputation.  Also she takes advantage of Ned, who is a naive sweet boy and he doesn’t deserve that!!  I really like ASH, and bringing down Brenda is so satisfying, but I can’t rank her much higher due to my bias.

14. CAR- Elliot Chen

Right off the bat- being strangled by Elliot was traumatizing, like holy shit are these games really intended for children???  Now that I got that out of the way, I liked Elliot’s subtle actions that sent Nancy off the case- helping her with Joy’s different riddles so she wouldn’t look into the accidents both played into the plot and supposedly threw you “off the case”- although it ended up helping you in the end.  Also, props to Elliot for using his talents to make forged art- I’m not saying I agree with it, but if I were a starving artist (and with my major, I’m on that track) I would get where he was coming from.

13. VEN- Helena Berg

It’s always the fun roommate with these games, isn’t it?  Anyway, I think it’s cool how Helena gets all chummy with you then turns out to be il Dottore, but in all honesty, it didn’t come as a surprise to me.  It did seem kind of weird that in a game set in Italy, the German is the culprit- I don’t see where they were going with that one.  And that final chase scene on the map was soooooo pointless- it could have tested some actual skill picked up in the game, like dancing in a cat suit.  Nancy and Helena could have had a dance-off, but nooooooo.  Also, the puzzle at the end. No.  Tbh Helena wasn’t that memorable to me, but good for her for having a crime ring, sothereyougo.

12. SPY- Ewan Macleod

Right off the bat- who in their right minds takes a letter a dead woman wrote to her only daughter and takes notes on it???????  That makes Ewan at least five types of rude.  Anyway, I liked how you start the game on his side and he’s all “oh I’m just here to help tell me what you find and we’ll get this together” and at the end it’s like “haha SIKE BITCH I work for the other group”.  That being said, I don’t think Ewan is very high-up in Revenant because Nancy could have easily killed him (though idk if she would kill anyone… that’d be an interesting concept to look into in future games).  Still, I like Ewan as a character and a villain, but maybe that’s because I like SPY so much.  It’s an emotional game- she’s literally looking into the death of her own mother- and while I don’t like parts of it (Nancy was like 3 when her mom died okay not 10 don’t tell me otherwise), I think Ewan was just enough villain for a game so invested in the past.

11. CRY- Renee Amande

One of the few villains that is truly completely off their rocker, I didn’t realize until my second playthrough that Renee probably killed Bruno Bolet with some of that voodoo hoodoo whatever you call it.  I love CRY and it’s ambience, and I think Renee fit right in with the aesthetic.  Also, you can eat all her chocolate and make Nancy hella sick, which is always a plus in my book.  The way I see it, tbh, you can play CRY one of two ways: either you can believe that Renee is completely crazy, or you can suspend your disbelief (which is fun for a few of these games) and believe in this crystal skull magic, which makes Renee far more powerful and terrifying.  Either way, she was willing to lock Nancy in a crypt and throw away the key, so this woman was willing to do whatever it took to get this damn crystal.

And heeeeeeere’s the top 10!

10. SEA- Soren Bergusson

Poor, sad, villainous Soren.  Nobody likes him so he plans to steal some treasure and possibly kill some people in the process.  In all honesty, I liked Soren as a friend and suspect, and I understand why he hates everyone in Skipbrot: they all hated him first just because he grew up a bit out of town.  While I sympathize with him, he was willing to let Nancy and Magnus just kinda die- like I don’t think he really cared what happened to them.  That’s not the way to make friends, Soren!  He had a solid plan going- he essentially let Nancy do all the puzzle-solving and hard work, which kind of happens in every Nancy Drew game when there’s treasure involved.  I really like SEA, even the sideplot about Ned and Nancy (attack me all you want), so I think Soren is an understandable and solid villain.  I especially like how you can choose if he gets a hard punishment or a more gentle one.  Also, is it confirmed that Soren was the cause of that screaming heard in the ice caves?  Does anyone have an explanation for that? Pls let me know k thx.

9. DED- Victor Lossett

Most phone characters stay in the phone, but not this guy.  He feels it necessary to arrive on the scene halfway through gameplay and turn Nancy’s suspicions on their head.  Iconic.  Honestly, Victor had the right idea by subtly hinting that other suspects could be guilty, and I love that HeR made the very guy that hired Nancy be the culprit.  It was a refreshing twist on the games!  Victor straight-up is not against frying Nancy to a crisp at the end there, whereas some villains try to kill her in less painful ways or even just incapacitate her.  While I can’t forgive him for killing Niko Jovic, one of the raddest characters we never get to meet, I applaud his villainous works.  You go, Victor.  You go.

8. DDI- Andy Jason

And here we see another wonderfully-made double persona in the form of Andy.  I’m honestly surprised he didn’t try to kill Nancy on that whale-watching tour, but his front as a marine life geek who yells “Whales rule!” at you is pretty convincing.  I was also impressed at the lengths he went to in order to frame Katie (he even tied her to a chair to make her look evil!!), and his nefarious acts hide as three separate mysteries.  I hope that hit to the head messed with his memory, because he’d definitely come for Nancy if he got out of jail imo.  I like Andy, although he kinda acts like in the end he sold his soul to the devil to run this crime-rig.  Also, he got this orca from the Russian military- I wanted more on that, that’s wicked!  I definitely think DDI happens when HeR is figuring out what makes a good villain, and while they miss the mark in later games, I think this one was pretty appropriate for its time- and I love replaying it, the atmosphere and villain and endless clam chowder really tie together nicely.

7. DOG- Emily Griffin

DOG wasn’t a scary game in the typical sense, because there really weren’t any jump-scares that made you freak, aside from the dogs in the beginning.  However, the ambience made me feel like someone was watching me, and knowing that one of these nice, quirky people was trying to kill me shows the psychological games DOG played.  I really think this was the beginning of HeR unlocking their potential for terrifying sequences, and they begin to show off in later games.  Also, while MHM and TRT had some ambience, this was the first one that really gave me ~vibes~ that added to the game.  FIN and SSH kinda did, but still.  With all of that in mind, Emily is super creepy to me- knowing that she could do all of those things and keep a facade of a chipper shop owner shows how two-faced people can be.  That endgame was so terrifying- how did Nancy manage to get a picture of Emily coming after her with a random-ass bone??  Also, I loved her little cameo in DAN.

6. CAP- Anja Mittelmeier

Alright.  I’m not crazy about CAP, but someone recently pointed out to me that it echoes past games (not sure how, but it makes me want to give it a second look), so I like it well enough.  That being said, I really think Anja is a great villain here.  She poses herself as a “let’s talk about guys and I can give you advice” kind of person, someone Nancy can relate to, especially with her guy troubles in this game.  Not only that, but Anja purposefully piques Nancy’s interest by feigning concern at first, being all “oh, I don’t know if I should tell you this” to make her more interested.  A+ psychology right there.  While I’m not totally sure most people would go to this much trouble over one guy, I applaud Anja’s pettiness and readiness for revenge.  Speaking of which, I have a sneaking suspicion we haven’t seen the last of her.  Her last line was ominous as hell and I loved it.  I’m here for more Anja screentime (gametime? What’s the phrase here?)

5. LIE- Literally everyone in that dang museum

I love Greek mythology, so I have a bone to pick with LIE.  FIRST OFF- there was no Labyrinth in the story of Persephone, y’all are thinking about the fucking Minotaur.  SECOND OFF- that stage made no sense (I made a post about it earlier, salt salt salt).  I’m not gonna spend this time talking about my problems with LIE, so I’ll leave it at those two examples.  Problems aside, I thought having all the suspects be a part of the art theft rig was… kinda cool?  And I like the characters by themselves: Niobe is sweet and unsure about her part in the group, Grigor is a classic narcissistic actor (I can relate to that 100% lol), Thanos is intimidating but under the surface… he’s still intimidating, and Xenia HOLY SHIT.  Like in that last part with the throne in the underworld won me over for her.  She could come to my place of residence and beat me up and I would thank her (honestly same for Thanos too).  I like the mix of less into the crime-y stuff (Niobe and Grigor) to a whole ‘nother level of criminal (Xenia and Thanos).  Also you know Thanos is coming back with the people that helped him escape- I’m looking forward to it.  So, yeah.  Not my favorite game, but I love the villains here, and I think they did a pretty stellar job.

4. CUR- Jane Penvellyn

CUR is a favorite of mine- it gave me legitimate nightmares as a kid and I was scared to finish it for a long time.  I love how there are miniscule clues scattered around the game pointing to Jane- the subplot about her deceased guinea pig proving her dishonesty (and I think the guinea pig might have died from Jane testing either the hair growth or the pills on it, but who knows), and Jane’s dialogue always trying to steer you away from an answer (she’s always like “I don’t want to talk about this” like okay let’s play skull and bones you macabre child).  This is one of my favorite storylines because it’s so well developed and thought-out, and making the child a culprit was such a good move in my opinion.  Jane’s got a bright future if she was clever enough to do all of that on her own.  However, I think Jane should have gotten a punishment more severe than a strict talk from her father- maybe some family therapy or losing her game privileges or something??  She could have really hurt Linda like jesus don’t give people random-ass pills.  Still, brilliant planning and performance on her part, and brilliant writing and execution on HeR’s part.

3. SHA- Shorty Thurmond

Listen, I love SHA so much- it was one of the first games I played, the book version will forever hold a place on my bookshelf, and the backstory of Frances and Dirk is iconic in the Nancy Drew world.  So, since I had read the book, I knew that Shorty was the villain from the start of the game, but that didn’t stop me from liking him as a character.  He gossips to invite suspicion about other characters and is generally a hilarious character to talk to.  That makes the endgame so much more dramatic and urgent when he reveals himself as the culprit and actively comes for you.  Also, I will never forgive him for the ENDLESS chores or the “heeeeere’s shorty”.  It might be bias, but I gotta put Shorty high on the list just because I love SHA and his character is no exception.  Excellent planning, quality execution, and he almost got away with it (I mean, all of them almost do).  I kind of wish that it was more like the book tho, because he had a little group working for him and he could imitate animal calls that they used to pull off sabotage- still an excellent villain, but some more book stuff would have been cool too.

2. GTH- Clara Thornton

One of the many reasons I love GTH so much is that there’s no real clear villain.  Sure, you can blame Clara for Charlotte’s death, but after looking into all the rich and subtle history of the Thornton family, I don’t think I want to blame Clara.  And who’s to blame for Jessalyn’ disappearance?  Jessalyn?  But I digress on that point.  Let’s say Clara is the villain- she is a fully-dimensional, multi-faceted character that has as many demons as any other character in this game.  The ending of GTH is one of my favorites because you can choose what happens to the supposed “villain”- she can “disappear” and presumably die, making a full circle from Charlotte’s death, or she can be saved, breaking the vicious Thornton family cycle that took so many ancestors.  I could go on and on about GTH and what it means to me, but I won’t bore you all.  Let me just say: I don’t think there is a real villain in this game, I think the blame can be placed just a little bit on everyone, even Nancy if you’re not careful.

And drumroll please for my top villain thus far!!!

1. SAW- Rentaro Aihara

First thing, SAW still has me shook to this day- I will not look in a mirror at night because of this game and everyone here knows why.  As if SAW weren’t creepy enough, replaying this gives me even more of the creeps because of Rentaro’s character.  Part of me wants to like him, because he’s socially awkward and gives Nancy puzzles because he knows she likes them, but let’s break this down: he is pushing for Miwako to close her family’s business so she can move with him to the city, which she doesn’t like that much, and after he upsets her to tears, he gives her gifts to make her like him again.  I’m no expert, but that is not what a healthy relationship should look like.  Also, he tries to kill Nancy (more than once if I’m not mistaken), and his only punishment is that Miwako dumps him? Blegh, he’s a creepy guy who tries to scare you away and earn your trust.  Try as I might, I cannot like this guy as a character- though he makes for a great villain.  Rentaro- abusive boyfriend, tries to kill people, doesn’t really get punished for anything- shit, was he actually sorry at the end or was he faking it????? We may never know.

So there you have it, clue crew! Did I piss anyone off? Was I wrong? Will MID have an amazing villain that questions my tentative order of villains? Will MID ever come out? Let me know!

Yoongi when the OC was having sex with two guys! Ignore this if you don't feel like writing it, please :)

Unexpected  - bonus chapter / drabble game

Yoongi’s POV / The big sex scene from Chapter 8

Parts: 1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8 (final)  8.5 (bonus)

Yoongi looked around Seungri’s bedroom while grasping your hand tightly. His stomach felt like it was in knots and his hands were sweating.

“Are you scared?” you asked him.

“Anxious might be the better word.  I don’t know what’s going to happen.” Yoongi let go of your hand to rub his palms against his pant legs to try to dry them off.  “I can’t quite believe we’re actually doing this.”

“We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,” you told him.

“I wouldn’t have brought it up if I didn’t want it.” Yoongi turned and gave you a feeble grin.  He wasn’t sure if he even believed what he was saying at this point.  He was the one to bring it up and he had spent so many nights sharing this fantasy with you and now it was actually going to happen for real. He could feel his dick getting hard already from thinking about what might happen… so why did he also feel like he was going to throw up.  It won’t be like last time, Yoongi thought. Last time nearly destroyed your relationship, but Yoongi was sure that was because you had fucked Tae to hurt him and not because you knew it turned him on.  This time will be different, Yoongi repeated to himself.  This time will be different.   “I want to make sure you don’t feel pressured just because this is my fantasy.”

You told him that fulfilling his fantasies turned you on.  You said the idea that doing this would please him made your pussy throb.  You leaned in to kiss him gently and sweetly, but Yoongi pushed his tongue between your lips, kissing you more aggressively, pulling you towards his body.  He wanted to know that he was the one that ultimately turned you on, not just to hear you say it, he wanted you to show him  that, at the end of the day, he was the only one you really wanted.  Your hand wandered down his body and came to rest at the crotch of his pants where you gripped him through the fabric; your hand felt so good against his cock and Yoongi couldn’t help but smile a bit.  “What happens in this room is just foreplay, okay?  The real action happens when he’s gone and it’s just you and me,” you whispered in Yoongi’s ear.  He believed you.

Spider-Man Deescalates the Superhero Arms race

Spider-man does not appear in the intro to Spider-Man: Homecoming. That’s because, at the time of the intro, Peter Parker is seven years old. He’s off somewhere in an apartment in queens, watching the Avengers battle Loki over and over again on the TV. A second grader, utterly mesmerized by the heroes on the screen. When The Avengers hit theaters, my little brother was in the second grade too. Like Peter Parker, he fell in love with Iron Man and Captain America after they blew up NYC in that 2012 climax. They excited him. They inspired him. They showed him, and young Mr. Parker, a heart and a spirit that Marvel has struggled to find since. And now, as Peter Parker comes of age with his latest screen debut, he brings that heart, that soul, back to a genre that has been desperately wanting it.

Since Iron Man first armored up in 2008, escalation has been the name of the comic book blockbuster game. Bigger names, bigger casts, bigger battles. More stars, more effects, more money. From Marvel to DC, escalation has defined the genre, and superhero fatigue has settled in. Hard. Homecoming is not the cure. It is not the new direction, the shift in business strategy, the shining herald of what’s to come. It is, however, a damn good respite, a brilliantly colorful bastion that reminds us why we all got hooked in childlike glee on these movies in the first place. It joyfully recaptures that superhero spirit by looking backwards instead of forwards, prioritizing personality over pizzazz, and fully understanding its own limitations.

Momentum is the key to escalation. It’s the reason Marvel announces films five years in advance, and it’s the reason we’ll stick around through every credits sequence from now ‘til judgement day. The MCU is always looking forward, dazzling us with the next installment before the last one even hits the screen. Very rarely, in this race to the never-ending finish, does anyone stop and take the time to look back. The franchise never surveys its accomplishments. It never gives us time to breathe. The ostensible appeal of a united film universe is the breadth of lore that can be developed over time, but what does that matter if we never get the chance to revel in it?

This is where Spider-Man offers a well-needed break. It takes the time to look backwards instead of forwards. The villain’s whole backstory hinges on the repercussions of that giant battle from the first Avengers. Peter Parker’s entire understanding of himself and his place in the world comes from a culture where Captain America conducts the pacer test and the Age of Ultron is taught in tenth grade social studies. Hell, five minutes in we get an extensive “and now, from Spidey’s perspective” take on Civil War. And it works. It’s funny. For the first time in years, we get to gaze back at all those ticket stubs we bought and remember why. It takes us back to that original Avenger Promise and all the glorious, goofy fun that came with it.

That goofiness shows through every corner of Homecoming, a movie that prioritizes being silly over being loud. There may be no award here for most bombastic comic book romp, but there is a trophy case of personality and heart. Tom Holland’s biggest exploits include catching an elevator, holding a boat together, and swinging on a jet plane. Nothing of the army-battling, world-ending caliber we’ve come to expect. There’s high-budget hijinks to be sure, but compared to the hordes of faceless robots, ridiculous space fights, reality distortions and twelve-man battle royals that have inundated us for years, Spidey’s set pieces feel refreshingly pedestrian.

In fact, Michael Keaton’s blue-collar Vulture repeatedly shows disdain for, and fear of, Tony Stark and the rest of the crew. He’s a thief, not a supervillain. All he wants is to take his score and get out. He’s not here to bend space-time, commit genocide or take over the universe. And in that same vein, Peter Parker seems more interested in accidentally webbing innocent people and buying deli sandwiches than halting the apocalypse. Tony Stark shows up a handful of times just to remind Spider-Man of this. Stay close to the ground, he says. Be a friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. Know what you can do, and know what you can’t. Know what you’re good at, and know what you’re not.

That’s the real power of Homecoming. It limits itself. It understands that not every hero is Thor, that not every fight is a war. “If you’re nothing without this suit, you don’t deserve it,” Stark chastises Peter after his best attempt at a major action sequence goes awry. An action sequence is only as compelling as its hero, after all. In one breath, Robert Downey Jr. addresses Spider-man, and Spider-Man. Don’t rush to graduate so quick. Focus on the character, on the spirit, on the things that made people like Peter Parker and my little brother care in the first place.

About a month ago I watched Iron Man for the first time. It was the only MCU film I’d missed. The first one. And I was fascinated to discover how…quiet, it was. When the credits rolled, I felt satisfied because for 126 minutes Robert Downey Jr. made me smile, and he made me care. Almost a decade later, Tom Holland has made me do the same. Spider-Man: Homecoming feels like it fell out of an alternate timeline where the blockbuster arms race didn’t reach such ridiculous heights. A timeline where the character was enough. Where success wasn’t measured by an effects budget.

I know I’m romanticizing. In the end, this is just the next piece in the Marvel Cinematic Machine, a machine that keeps turning no matter what I think. But it’s a piece that stands out, that feels unique in itself. There’s far more that makes this movie special, like the diverse and brilliant cast, the smart twists, and a level of nuanced social commentary unparalleled in a movie of this style and caliber. Someone smarter than I can, and surely will, write those pieces. But when I walked out of the theater, I was satisfied to say, “That was special. That had heart.”

Things About The Undertale Fandom I Dislike

No, this isn’t an emotional vent, or me pointing fingers at any member of the Undertale fandom in particular. But, there are some common things in this fandom that I dislike, and I feel like addressing at least some of them.

1: Sans remembers prior resets.

Okay, people, you need to think this one through a bit. Sans is a very smart guy, and the Genocide route proves that he’s already plenty capable under the right circumstances. So just imagine how insanely tough he would be if he did remember previous resets!

If he remembered everything, how would Flowey have ever killed him? Why would he never confront Frisk about resetting after a neutral or pacifist run? Why would he continue using the same attacks in the genocide boss battle if he’s already seen that you’ve memorized the patterns?

Sans remembering does not make any sense and isn’t supported by any of the dialog in the game. So, for the life of me, I don’t understand why the fandom is so attached to the idea.

2: Flowey/Asriel is often very poorly handled as a character.

I hate to say it, but I’ve only seen a few people REALLY handle this character well. To be fair, he’s by far the most complicated character in the game, and his character arch is mindboggling. Regardless, most depictions of the character seem to fall back on a few common mistakes.

  • People writing Asriel to be a simple cute kid whose utterly blameless.
  • Writing Flowey to be a sadistic demon who only wants to hurt people.
  • Writing them to be two fully separate people.
  • People assuming Flowey is some sort of memory clone.
  • Fans-creators insisting that Flowey/Asriel is actually an adult.
  • Fans insisting that Asriel deserved everything he got.

Basically, in fanworks where Asriel is saved, he’s a normal innocent kid that doesn’t have any real problems. If he isn’t saved, then he’s reverted to being a sadistic killer and isn’t allowed things like friends or any real happiness.

What people tend to overlook with Asriel is that. While he isn’t innocent, during his time as Flowey he’s essentially a mentally ill child that’s been given godlike powers and left on his own.

Guess what, that’s interesting! It’s also sad as heck!

It renders him a character that’s simultaneously dangerous while being wholly sympathetic. That’s hard to do, and I’m still applauding Toby Fox on pulling it off so wonderfully.

That doesn’t mean I oppose depictions of Asriel where he’s a harmless kid without any problems, or depictions of Flowey that make it clear that he’s a very dangerous individual. However, in stories, I always prefer it when there’s more to the character than that.

Also, before anyone says it. No, I am not badmouthing the mentally ill. I’ve known people that were mentally ill, and I have mountains of respect and sympathy for what they have to go through.

3: Chara is both Frequently Mishandled, and is Ultra Divisive

The fact of the matter is, very little is known about Chara. They’re kinda vague in many real ways. This is the only reason I don’t place this higher on this list. The game’s vagueness does give people a lot of leeway with their version of the character.

That being said, I do find some of the softer depictions of the character to be strange considering how darkly they’re depicted in the game. Even that I would not see as all that big a deal, except that fans of that depiction then go out and attack people that don’t conform to that depiction. I very much dislike that sort of behavior. Fan communities live or die based entirely on fan creators. If you attack the fan creators, a fandom will eventually wither and die.

So don’t, freaking, do it!

I also find it kinda odd how the mental illness aspects of Asriel/Flowey are often reassigned to Chara. <_<;;

4: Casual Depictions of Abuse, Vindictiveness, and Brutality.

I really should place this higher on the list, but oh well.

You’d think a game where mercy and forgiveness was one of the major themes, you’d see more people willing to cut X or Y character slack. As it happens, you’d be wrong.

I’ve seen characters depicted as ultra-abusive on one hand, or deserving of abuse on the other! Often, I see abusive behavior played up for humor, and we’re supposed to be okay with it because, the person receiving the abuse is horrible, according to the artist.

This is especially true for Flowey. Who in some fan content is abused pretty horribly by Sans. To the point of even being partially eaten alive in one rather extreme case.

Yeah, that’s not cool! Especially when it’s a “good guy,” doing the abuse.

So no, playing up abusive behavior for laughs, or trying to justify horrible mistreatment for one of the characters, doesn’t sit well with me. Sadly it’s already far too common.

And that’s all I have to say on this front. If you sat through that, thank you for bearing with me for the whole thing. Also, please keep in mind that all this is only my opinion, and nothing more.

I don’t actually wish to attack anyone specifically. I only wrote this all because these are things I’ve seen over the past year that have bugged me a lot.

Lucifer - Seasons 1 & 2 (but mostly 2)

Once again, a show that surprised me in a very good way. I liked Lucifer at first, but I never though in the beginning it would become one of my most anticipated shows.

I was like loving Lucifer, Linda and Maze from the get go, but the others were kinda “meh” and I found Chloe, Dan and Amenadiel very bland, especially in comparison. Since she was supposed to be the female interest, I was a little thrown off, because the main duo didn’t work out for me.

But then, every one of them (and I literally mean “everyone”, this is not often a show flips me over so much. Totally changed my mind when the start wasn’t that good imo) started to grow on me and became more and more interesting by the minute.

From Lucifer to Trixie, with Amenadiel, Lucifer’s mom, his “dad”, Chloe, Dan, Ella… This became the kind of show where I could tell “If the writers harm a soul, any soul, they’ll have to fight me (although Maze doesn’t have a soul but don’t touch her also)”. And frankly, I never though Lucifer would get me that way.

THAT is a great surprise. THAT is what all shows should aim for, and what I’m looking for now in a TV show. Most of the ones I watch are like that now, or at least to my satisfaction it is. And that feels fucking good.

So, basically, season 1 only was there to slowly get me to care about all of them before they added more. Since I was with a little prejudice before, I probably didn’t enjoyed it to its fullest.

But what sealed the deal for me was season 2. Season 2 was marvelous in terms of storytelling and character growth and relationships between all of them.

I mean the concept behind his relationships with others alone is fascinating.

I’ve loved seeing Linda process the fact Lucifer was really the devil (like she didn’t jumped in right away like “Yeah, okay, you’re the devil, whatevs”, but ultimately, her loyalty remained with him and Maze) and becoming closer to Maze and forming an amazingly touching and beautiful and genuine friendship.

I love how Maze allows herself more to need people and tell them so. Even Lucifer in the end got that he hurt her. And she would go at great lengths to protect Chloe or Linda too now, you can’t convince me otherwise.

And did I mentioned I loved Ella’s adding to the cast ? The mum character is great too, and I really believe God Johnson was a manifestation of his father. Otherwise, how would he know about Lucifer’s real name ? How would he not react to Lucifer’s red eyes when he asks him angrily to apologize ?

And more importantly, why was he not affected by Lucifer’s “What do you desire ?” if he was just a stranger believing he was god ?

As to why the mother didn’t feel anything, I think it’s because it was just kind of a manifestation, but not him fully possessing someone to appear on earth.

Can we talk about how everyone was worried sick for Linda ? Maze was crying her heart out for Amenadiel to help, she broke my heart. She needed so much her little Linda to survive. I’m almost tearing up again writing that, still a little emotional about it.

And Lucifer wanting immediately to get to Linda as soon as his mother flees. Amenadiel had to say he would take care of her for Lucifer to focus again on the task.

I mean, I already loved her from day one. But ever since Lucifer revealed his true face to her, she’s been even more of a blessing. She’s the best and most loyal friend the world ever bare (at least this one).

The little speech she gave Lucifer in the end made me tear up. It was beautiful and so… heartwarming.

I often go on and on about Linda and Maze, because ever since they’ve started having scenes together, I saw their chemistry and how much I loved them both together and as individuals.

The moment where Linda learns about Lucifer and doesn’t wanna see Maze and they end up talking it out through the door : it gave me so much feels and they do it everytime.

But my little comic “discussion” posts don’t reflect how much I cherish the relationship between Lucifer and Linda. Because the growth on this relationship is amazing.

And the little scene between them at the end of season 2 finale has to be my favorite for them so far. I mean, the feels, but also… In the midst of conversation, Lucifer realizes something for himself. Yet, after he vocalized it, he says like immediately right after “But let’s focus on you”.

And I know he’s gonna be like that if Linda’s not well, because she’s his friend. But I find this little sentence so simple yet, full of meaning. And I love that little detail.

Oh and can we talk about how Linda didn’t flinch first in front of THE Goddess ? Like, she knew she was getting hurt and possibly killed horribly, but she still chose to resist giving the information before she couldn’t take it anymore.

Just so she could protect Lucifer’s secret ! I’m… This woman will be the death of me, she’s too precious. I mean, she risked her life for this. I’m still sobbing. My poor Linda and her gigantic heart.

Frankly, I was mad as hell Charlotte (we’re gonna call her Charlotte, it’s simpler than “The Goddess” and faster to type) hurt Linda. Like, she’s in the holy trinity for me of “You don’t touch him/her or there’ll be trouble”.

But I also like the mother character very much. And ultimately, I kinda understood where she could come from.

Because I don’t think she ever intended on hurting people from the get go, even though I thought she was only trouble at first. But I was kinda wrong.

The big thing that defined Charlotte the whole way was her love for her children. That and she was pretty pissed at God for making her suffer so much and being basically a deceptive and MIA bastard.

BUT, I get from that she is a mother. And all she wanted to do from day one was to protect and maybe avenge her children. She went to great lengths to do that, even if that meant there would be casualties.

The fact in their last moments together, Lucifer had to tell her about war, and casualties, and the fact that basically people would suffer says tons to me. I think she really didn’t realize.

She kinda knew, but she was so focused on getting her children with her, keeping them safe, that she ultimately lost track of everything else. Not to mention she’s not any kind of mother.

She’s an overprotective (kinda) mother with creation powers. So yeah, she’s a ticking time bomb, but it’s not really her fault. To me, she has too much strength for her wrath. And she doesn’t mean wrong. But her love for her sons is brighter and prevails.

So of course she’s gonna hurt people getting in the way. And if the result is far worse than intended, it’s just because her power is too much, even for herself sometimes.

Overall, I’m going to miss her deeply.

I loved the weird friendship taking place between Dan and Amenadiel.

Frankly, those two are cinnamon rolls who don’t get enough credit already ! I’m so glad Dan finally found out Charlotte was Luci’s mom. Like I knew the “you’d be Lucifer’s dad” joke would come back. And it was priceless.

I was sad, however, to see him hurt in the end by this cold “who are you ?”. I was starting to ship them a bit, so I hope he’ll learn about all this someday and understands WHO he’s been sleeping with. (Spoiler alert : it’s a big divine who)

Amenadiel is hilarious in the finale, and the way he protect those people now. Not to mention he’s the reason Linda’s still alive, so thanks for that.

So Lucifer is mum’s favorite and Amenadiel is daddy’s boy ? I love this little detail ! Like this show is surreal sometimes. It knows what his audience wants and doesn’t even know they want (or so it seems).

Even the way Chloe and Lucifer’s relationship had been treated is unusual. And I didn’t thought I would ship it at first, but they’re cute and it feels natural. And I’m rooting for Chloe to know everything there is to know, and finally seeing the light (well, i mean…).

Because I want relationships to tighten even more. It worked wonders with Linda, so I have faith it will only be more meaningful afterwards. (But I’m wondering if Dan and Ella would learn about it ultimately).

And god, I could go on for hours. I love this show. I want more rn !

I’m so so glad they have a supersized third season due to the four remaining episodes they got in bonus. They so deserve the expansion, and frankly, I trust them so far to do the right thing with the extra amount of episodes.

They already proved us they were capable of constructing a story interesting and complex, and touching without resorting to classic storylines (at least not so much, some parts are bound to be kept as intended in the original story, I think) and showing beautiful and genuine relationships between its characters.

I think not everybody can pull a 22 episodes thing and get it right. But Lucifer already did a marvelous job with 18 episodes in season 2 . They only have to do it for 4 more in season 3 (well 8 more, but I think they already have the story so far for the four remaining of season 2 pushed to season 3, so it’s no brainer imo).

But I’m not a TV show writer, so I don’t know. We’ll see. I might not be so much on tumblr this summer (I hope to get on with my projects, among other things), expect for Killjoys, Dark Matter and Game of Thrones, of course.

Otherwise, I’ll probably see you in the fall !

Hello My dear lovelies. It is I back again with a one shot due to this amazing prompt hosted by @everlarkficexchange I’m sorry it’s a bit late. I would love to just say that this was super difficult for me, seeing as this is my first smut ever written. Please be kind. I would like to thank @titaniasfics for her amazing beta work and The biggest most ardent thanks to my baby doll @mega-aulover for helping me through everything and keeping my spirits up. Finally, I would like to thank my handsome hubs for the inspiration and patience. I made my own little banner. It isn’t much but I tried. I hope you all like this story. Please don’t forget to read and write a review, any kind of feedback would do. It would be much appreciated.

Prompt: Canon-Divergent where Katniss realizes she loves Peeta the night before the Quarter Quell, she tells him and they have sex. In D13, she finds she got pregnant, and while she’s sad that Peeta isn’t with her, she’s happy to be carrying Peetas child. Because should he not return to her, she has a piece of him with her to love. It also gives her the strength to try to rescue Peeta. And to help him constructively recover from the hijacking :).   I can hear the muffled cheers of the Capitolites outside the window. They delight in their favorite Tributes and respective districts. Some might even be taking bets. Betting for which one of us would come out alive. Which of us is worth their sponsorship. Which one they would deem prettier or have a more tragic background so that they will give us a dim hope for survival, not realizing that no one comes out alive. Not if you count nightly terrors, and daily reminders of those we are forced to kill to ensure our empty continuity of life. Going about something resembling living but floating through it all with no feelings other than remorse and guilt because no matter how many times the Victor tries to convince themselves that everything was out of their control, you are left feeling as though it was somehow wrong to survive. You feel disgusted by whatever choices you made, no matter how inconsequential they may have been. You never forget the faces of the people who died by your hand. Unspeakable things that no one should be subjected to, but the Capitolites are so far removed to understand them.. So invested in hollow things such as drama, fashion and whether Peeta and I will last or keep on this charade of the star-crossed lovers. They don’t notice the despair that’s left behind. The bodies of children who never a chance to leave a mark on this world.

I walk over to the window and watch as the Capitol children run around gleefully in their bizarre dresses and coats carrying sparklers, pretending to jab one another, imitating their favorite Tribute. The fireworks lighting up the sky and hearing the ‘oohs and the aaahs’ from the crowd. I turn back disgusted and sit on the sofa as I wait for Peeta to join me.

Peeta, who once again tried to spare me when he convinced the crowd outside that I was pregnant. Me, who has done nothing more than to push him away. He has sacrificed himself more times than I can count. But, there he was on that stage, still trying to protect me.

I didn’t intend for my little rebellion to generate such an uproar. For Snow to put a target on both our backs, for Peeta to be in danger. He doesn’t deserve it, he is far too kind and forgiving.

I sigh and run my hands through the tips of my tousled hair  . There was no power on this earth to make me want to wear the abhorrent wedding dress for more than it was necessary. I smile and for once I felt a surge of pride remembering the way people’s faces changed when the wedding dress burned before their eyes and was replaced by the dark and exquisite dress that Cinna made. I would have loved to have seen Snow’s face, but for now I’ll content myself with my imagination.

Peeta, on the other hand, was perfect. Pristine and handsome, and, dare I say it, even delicate in some way. His white tux made him look like a beautiful angel, too flawless to be touched, with his golden hair and crystalline blue eyes. Eyes so full of compassion and kindness. The kindness he had shown me when he fed me the burned bread despite the black eye he carried the next day. That was who Peeta was and perhaps Haymitch is right. I can live a thousand years but never truly deserve him. For I am the dark rebel. The one filled with fire and anger but I know I need the dandelion in the spring to gently quench of my own sorrows, my remorse, and fill my resentful heart. He is what I need and there would be no one to equal to him.

What is your all time favorite J2 non au fic? Favorite au fic? Favorite J2 fic in general?

oh goodness 💕

my favorite J2 non-AU fic is @qblackheart ‘s The Courtship of Jensen’s Co-Star ✨ it’s been on my “I need to reread ASAP” list for, what feels like, ever, but I want to dedicate all my time and energy into rereading it, not tired-eyes-at-2-AM. it’s absolutely wonderful and here’s a little bit about it:

The Courtship of Jensen’s Co-Star by @qblackheart

Somewhere in the time between a handshake and a hug, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki went from being reel-life brothers to real-life best friends, and complete strangers to cosmic soul mates, no rhyme or reason to it that either of them could ever see. Jared was everything Jensen was not: friendly, funny, and full of life; one in six-point-whatever billion the Earth’s population currently stood at. Life was awesome. Work was amazing. Everything was fine until Jared kissed Jensen. Everything was peachy until Jensen fell in love. With desperate times unexpectedly calling for desperate measures, Jensen called Chad Michael Murray for relationship advice – because being in love led to temporary insanity obviously – so it really didn’t surprise him that he couldn’t seem to win when it came to wooing Jared. Still, Pisces must’ve been in a really good place in the night sky or something because suddenly, right smack dab in the middle of the miserable courtship of his co-star, Jensen discovered that maybe loving Jared was all he needed to do to win his heart. And luckily for Jensen, loving Jared was also the one thing he did best.

Rating: NC-17; Word Count: 112,000+; Warnings: None

I can’t give enough praise for this story, but I’m probably going to do another long rec when I eventually get around to rereading it 💕💕💕

my favorite J2 AU story is (this is so hard, I have so many and if you want a list of fic recs, just let me know) either Underneath it All or Fucking Kodiak, Alaska

Underneath it All by @ashtray-thief

Jensen Ackles was always good at acting, pretending. So good in fact that he is the FBI’s favorite undercover guy. He has more undercover operations under his belt than he’d like to remember, and after his latest stint with a ring of human traffickers he really thinks he deserves a break. Unfortunately there’s a new criminal organization on the rise, and all attempts to infiltrate and take down the Padalecki family have failed so far. Which is why Jensen finds himself faced with a new assignment, one that no other agent qualifies for and that he really doesn’t want. Because trying to seduce the most powerful man in the Chicago underworld? Not really high up on his list.

Rating: Explicit; Word Count: 94,427; Warnings: Violence, Morality Issues

Fucking Kodiak, Alaska by Xenodike

After having an emotional and physical breakdown and trying to get away from a dysfunctional relationship, Jensen finds himself staring at a stuffed and mounted bear standing in a tiny airport terminal on the on the other side of the country. Jared, self proclaimed cocky asshole and sporting a fantastic manbun, takes pity on him, expecting a thank you orgasm before they go their separate ways. Turns out, Jensen’s not half as broken as he thinks he is. A large fluffy dog and a little help realizing his prostate is in fact not defective, goes a long way. Jared is a lot more broken than he’ll admit. Jensen takes him on a journey of learning what it means to have someplace to call home. Throw in a lot of plaid, flannel shirts, a tiny log cabin, a horrendously ugly, moldy RV, a weather-beaten bar, fantastic wildlife, spectacular nature and a hillbilly shithole in the middle of nowhere.

Rating: Explicit; Word Count: 70,016; Warnings: Implied Child Abuse

my favorite J2 fic in general is probably The Courtship tbh, but my current obsession is this:

Not the Desperate Type by @guestwho

Jared’s party-animal reputation gets him accepted into the notorious Alpha Epsilon Pi house (or as they call it, APE) easier than a game of hopscotch - but what he doesn’t expect to find there is someone who totally harshes his vibe: Jensen Ackles; a prude with a stick up his ass the size of Texas.

Rating: Explicit; Word Count: 16,484; Warnings: Drug Use, Homophobia

I also consistently reread these two stories:

Miles to Go by @dollylux

As Jensen’s assistant, Jared takes care of him at work. As a man in love, he can’t help that he wants to wrap him up in a warm blanket and take care of him in every other aspect of his life, too.

Rating: Explicit; Word Count: 8,176; Warnings: None

And When We Kiss by grace_fully

Jensen is not amused by the the tall football douche who sits in front of him in organic chem. In fact, he prefers to torture him whenever possible.

Rating: PG-13 to NC-17; Word Count: 14,870; Warnings: None

We are so lucky in the J2 fandom to have so many wonderful writers and stories. I have a lot of lists, a lot of fics, but these are ones I go back to often ❤

C  O  R   R   U  P  C  I  Ó  N

The original tittle was ¨Corruptus¨ but it was and spanish so I´m going to keep it save. Oh my stars, this is the first time I translate ALL a chapter for my own, so don´t expect too much about my grammar or sense of time. Oh boy, this is a (now) a gift for the lovely @futagogo, for being extra nice with me! :3
There is a cover por this fanfic, but I’m not going to submit it here; so I’ll put the plot here: ZEROVER + AU POCKET MORTYS + YAOI… that will be all…

“Let’s see. Jerry left Beth in her second pregnancy; Summer also left her to go with her father … and this Morty was left with his Rick since he was a few months old. Before that” a closer look at the screen  “Oh dear, before Beth was in a car accident due to her alcoholism, where she passed away.”

Rick (Storage Manager) carried an electronic cigarette in a hurry to his mouth and held the smoke until he could exhale naturally. He turned the screen and immediately began typing a couple more symbols. The guard just rolled his eyes in annoyance, the day was short, work was long and the timelines were endless. What if a Morty suffered a difficult life? There were hundreds of them.

“Then you say that the Rick of his dimension was intersected by the galactic police and threw this Morty into a dimension of giant killer bees in which he was 6 months until the honey collecting brigade found it. He arrived here wounded, hungry and without notion of date and time. Okay, I’ll need some information to register for the nursery and then give it up for adoption.

"He’s a grinning Morty, and I do not have your fucking time, nanny.” I have real work to do. So, do I leave him here, in the fuck, or shall I sell him to some alien accumulator?

Rick (guard) left his office to go to the ship where the victim was. Returning the door that led to the Mortys area was already open and Rick (Storage) was waiting paternally at the door with a blanket and a chocolate. The guard snorted in a mocking tone and almost tactlessly tossed the boy who almost stumbles had it not been for Storage.

“Have fun with this stupid thing.”

A look of rancor stuck in the back of the head of the guard at the moment of returning to his ship, although it was perfectly ignored. At that moment they were the only ones in the day care.

That new Morty and him.

“Are you fine?” Asked the elder while he placed the blanket and extended the chocolate, looked a few seconds to the child, but  he was far from looking like a gruesome Morty; It looked normal Like any other Morty without life destroyed or that have been lost for a lot of time with giant bees.

“Wow! T-Thank you Rick. I’m fine, it’s been a long time since anyone asked me that. "The little boy giggled nervously and sipped at the chocolate so he would not have to look at him in the face.

“What are you talking about”

"Oh, Rick, you’re so nice to me.” The older man just stared at him as he noticed Morty’s deep blush, “I mean, all the Ricks are, they’re amazing! But you’ve been the most attentive, oh geez, I-I think I’m beginning to feel something for you … c-could I hug you?

Storage was stunned. It was not easy to take care of the Mortys, especially when they had had strange experiences outside their timelines. They take a long time to take confidence in themselves; It’s an eternity for them to be able to believe in a Rick again. He himself had read the history of his dimension and it was terrible, he even bet that child came with a very strong trauma.

It was the first time he heard something like that; perhaps for pity he acceded to the request of the child and hugged him with a little disinterest, feeling the shyness of the child.

"Rick, I think everything’s going to be all right now.”

"Oh, it will be while you’re here.”

The weeks that followed were really hard, especially for Rick (Storage) in his attempt to protect the more recent Morty who he called Super Rick Fan Morty. It was tedious to discover the fanaticism that boy had towards his grandfather; His original Rick must have been an egocentric fan of himself (Super Fan Rick) and having thus bred the boy really affected him.

The point is that most of the Mortys out there hated the Ricks; And they beat the new to defend them. This had bordered him to live with the Mortys marginalized like Cup Morty, Pizza Morty or mermaid Reversed Morty; It was not bad but there was contempt.

In addition, he worry for moving away the boy from the guards and Ricks ¨interesested¨ in adopting him. For some reason, the rumor that a Ricks-like Morty was in the nursery gave everyone the impression that they could just hang out with him and then leave him there again. Fortunately and thanks in part to the Mortys (now jealous that the Ricks were looking for the new one and not them) no one misfortune had happened to him yet.

For Storage it was a bundle of nerves to have to pass close to him, because whenever he did he received compliments and pampering, at first it was excellent, but the fire of that Morty crossed the limits, was so energetic and full of energy that in a way, the only way out was to avoid it. It was there that he realized that he was doing the same to everyone else.

Marginalize him.

The garden center was not a place for a Morty as noble like him, he deserved the love of a Rick who took good care of him, someone who had that energy and in fact, it was inattentive what he had. No doubt the only important duty was to get him a foster grandfather but who would respect him properly?

What Rick would love a Morty like that?

Good luck, causality. The custodian of the playgroup school couldn’t define it. The weeks had been high on adoption and incredibly low in terms of new Mortys to offer. To some being of the multiverse it occurred to him that if they put several Mortys to fight each other would arm a mode.

So it was.

Each of the Ricks without a partner chose to have one or more Mortys, all those Mortys remainder who lay abandoned in the universe were picked up and give them home (to later put them to fight among themselves and display them as prizes). Everything was suspiciously good except for the fact that (SRF) Morty was still stranded.

This new device some Rick create was for read the status of each of the Mortys. It describes to the Ricks the background of the boys; If they had an aggressive childhood and psychophysical powers: perfect; If Beth had sent them to karate classes: even better! But if his parents split up and had been left with a lonely, drunken and selfish Rick … it left a lot to be desired, especially since that would surely bring a lot of traumas and that wasn´t something that the Ricks want to deal with.

The service horary were over, and Rick Storage was watching the TV next to his own Morty (Morty Rabbit sleeping in a box on the floor) and with (SRF) Morty lying on his lap.

This last said and repeated every so often that he was the luckiest Morty in the world since watch TV with his favorite Rick, but his tone of voice was loaded with too much sadness. There was nothing more in that place than impotence, there was nothing but disappointment.

The weeks passed quietly, those greedy Ricks who manipulated more Mortys than they could take care of, were allowed to leave some in the nursery; And this had encouraged the solitary environment to which they had become accustomed. The manipulated Mortys were more docile and much easier to command, but they lacked originality for the most part; It was gloomy.

(SRF) Morty had become Rick Storage’s personal assistant, he helped him to accommodate the Mortys in their "rooms” upon arrival, sometimes he attended the reception by the excitement of seeing a different Rick enter the day care; And sometimes just swept the yard.

That was one of those days when they had a lot of work, apparently the game of Mortys had gotten out of control and many people were beginning to capture them not to fight, but for their own collection. There was no more space in the cubicles, since they had to be locked up in cells and there were dozens of Ricks waiting to visit their Mortys, but it was a huge job to recognize who was from whom.

At the end of the day, Storage and SRF were closing the reception, the taller one with an expression of being able to kill the devil in person and the boy with a half smile for Rick (which was bad, considering that he was always running around trying to make him laugh ).

“Good work today, Morty. Now I’ll go upstairs with my Rabbit, do you think you can mop here?

Because indeed, Rick Storage’s Morty Rabbit did not move a finger in the daycare, he always was the favorite one, the prince of the Mortys and SRF Morty the Cinderella.

“Of course, Rick” although he was exhausted he couldn’t deny anything to  his favorite Rick, who knows? he would probably be more tired than him “D-Don’t worry about that, tomorrow will be super clean just as you like”

"Until tomorrow, then” he took out a cigarette to low-stress and went to rest.

Morty put on an apron so he did not mess up his favorite blue shirt, and without further action, he did his job. He was about to return the mop and go to his cell with the others, but a sound stopped him. It was the bell at the entrance door;

He thought it was already closed.

“Hi?”  He yelled from the other side of the room, regaining his strength at the thought that maybe he was a good trainer Rick confused by visiting hours.

As the matter in fact, there wasn’t any answer but heavy steps went to the first room as he unbuttoned the apron.

“You can’t go into the store if is already closed, the visits are with in the morning and…”

It must have been a game. He had seen many Ricks, each one better than the previous, some robotic, some reptilian, but he had never seen anything like that. He was an extraordinary specimen for his eyes, his blue hair covered one eye, the other hardly noticed because of dark circles, his uniform was inked in black and his standing was the strangest he had ever seen. He looked like he would fall at any moment, but never do.

“I don’t … I don’t go out during the day, it’s not my thing”  His soft voice, a raspy whisper that shook Morty “I passed because I saw a light on, but if there is no service, I’ll leave out of here”

He turned around, almost ready to go, until the boy’s senseless shrieks stopped him in despair.

“Noonono, please, yes we do have service, if I attend you, please … stay”

Rick’s dark gaze rested for a moment on Morty and he looked straight at him, as if that would have burned him down. They both turned away for different reasons.

“What kind of Morty you want to visit? I need to go to an w-wake him up”  he asked now more uncomfortably as he took out his diary to check, but soon recalled that, had never seen that Rick before; There were no Mortys admitted recently that he would not have accommodated in cells and if that were not enough; he also didn’t know the name of that Rick.

He would have remembered it.

“I’m not coming to visit anyone. I come to borrow a Morty, I want him to clean my garage and the one I had with me was stolen by a Rick with a chip manipulator. Poor stupid Rick, that Morty was annoying”

“Wow, I don’t know if we can lend to the Mortys, if their Ricks knows, they will be very upset. But surely if you catch some Morty he will be happy to help you… it must be super fun to clean your garage.

"I don’t go out to people. It is not fun to clean the garage”

“Geez Rick, it’s difficult because although I would like to help you all the Mortys we have here have a manipulation chip, they will not listen to anyone other than their Ricks”

“I understand, I suppose I’ll have to explode my garage and build a clean one. Thank you for nothing, boy”

“No way, I’m sorry. I really want to help you, but I don’t know how!

Again the eldest turned, but this time ignoring the boy, took the handle and took a look at the floor of the place, Finally turned his attention to Morty and found him sobbing in silence as he clung to his apron (and the last memory he would have of that Rick).

"You cleaned up here?”

“Yes…” he said in a weakly voice, rubbing his eyes for the tiredness and small tears in his pout.

A moment of silence crept through the room, Morty was reassuring.

“Why don’t you come with me? Now that I think about it, I haven’t seen you have a chip… and you know how to mop”

“I-I can’t. No one Rick has ever loved me before. My favorite Rick tells me to don´t trust on the strangers Ricks” Morty looked at him in amazement and mistrust from head to toe "And it’s strange that you come here at night for a borrowed Morty”

"I don’t know what you’ve hear about the Ricks, it’s probably true, it’s not good to you to trust strangers. Anyway; I gotta go now because the garage is not going to implode itself.

"Wait! I want to go with you, no matter where you take me, no matter what you do to me, I just want a Rick who feels I own him… ”

The older man only raised his eyebrow in surprise; he thought that perhaps it had been a mistake to ask him; But there would always be a day care to return him when his patience was exhausted. He lifted his serious, disinterested face and moved away from the door.

“Let’s go, then, in a few hours more people will start to fill the streets and I don’t want be there when that happens.

After all the fatigue of the day and the unveiling of the moment his energy was recovered to 100% having to contain all his enthusiasm in a joyful shriek; All he got to take was his cap and his doll both of Rick. It was a miracle that the older man would have waited for him at the door, because he seemed to be in no mood.

And when Super Rick Fan Morty stepped outside the nursery after that whole time that seemed like an eternity, he knew he was not only free; he actually was tied to freedom.

Tied to that Rick.

Rick Zero.

When your eyes finally opened, the first thing they fixated on was a static-filled screen on the opposite wall of a right room.  Your heart began to pound from the moment you came back to consciousness and realized that your wrists were bound by metal cuffs and so were your ankles.  You pulled against them uselessly, emitting a light clinking sound throughout the plain room.

“Lena?” you called out with a tremor in your voice.  “Lena?”

“Y/N,” the screen flashed to a clear picture of Lillian and you froze on the hard, stainless steel table you were strapped to, “so good to see you awake.”

“Where is she?”

“I couldn’t tell you; that’ll be your job to find out.”

In silence, you struggled to figure out what she meant.  The older woman seemed to grow frustrated as you didn’t respond.

“Wouldn’t you like to know how?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Do you feel that pain on the back of your neck?”

After she asked the question, you bit the inside of your cheek and tried your best to focus your groggy mind on your neck.  You leaned back a bit into the table and found that your neck did, in fact, feel tender.

“What did you do to me?”

“The first part of your transformation was an implant,” Lillian began.  “My surgical team and I placed a chip in the back of your neck that was designed by my scientists to take over your consciousness.”

Your stomach clenched.  You pulled at the restraints on your wrists again.

“My daughter is a tricky young woman to track down,” she sighed.  “She can usually spot the signs that I’m sending someone for her.  However, she wouldn’t think twice about running right into your arms, would she?”

“I won’t hurt her, Lillian.”

“You won’t have a choice,” she chuckled.  “I understand that you may be groggy from the surgery, but please try to keep up.  Once I press this—” the woman paused and held up a small black remote, “—you will do exactly what you’ve been programmed to do; kill my daughter.”

“I don’t care what you did to me, you psycho piece of shit, I won’t hurt Lena.”

“Oh, but you will.  And considering the large amount of DEO agents tailing her, someone will try to stop you.  But, of course I’ve planned for that.  Can you feel anything yet?”

You squinted at her in suspicious, terror-stricken confusion.

“What are you talking about?”

“Several months ago, we managed to get our hands on a vial of your friend Supergirl’s DNA.  I’m not sure if you know this, but she’s from the planet Krypton.  She’s an alien and potentially my least favorite one.  Normally I wouldn’t dream of adding anymore of them to the population but you…you need to be indestructible.  In an hour or so, you’ll start to feel it.”

“Feel what?”

“The virus.  It’ll slowly start breaking down your fragile, human DNA and mutating it to match hers.  You’ll be bullet proof, stronger than steel, able to fly…you’ll have every ability she has.  That means when you’re squeezing the last few breaths from my daughter’s lungs, no one will stop you.  They won’t be able to.”

“No,” your voice cracked and you shook your head.  “No, I can’t…I won’t.  You’re lying.”

“The transformation will be painful…at least we believe so.  Every one of your cells will die and be replaced by new ones.  I’ve thought about putting you back under until it’s over but you and I both know you don’t deserve that.”

“Fuck you!”

Your voice was ragged and petrified and it hurt your own ears as it bounced around the room.  The restraints on your limbs were relentless as you struggled against them.  You were helpless to lay there and think about what was being done to you; what was about to be done by you.

“I’ll see you soon, Y/N.  Enjoy your final few hours; you’ll be terminated after your mission.”

“Come on, Lena, you’ve got to eat.”

“I’m not hungry,” Lena leaned away from the take-out box Kara was trying to hand to her and ignored the blonde’s plea.

“You sitting here and wasting away would break her heart, you know.”

“She’s probably dead, Kara.  Her heart is already broken because it isn’t pumping blood through her body.”

“Don’t say that,” she chastised the drunken woman gently.  The apartment had become littered with wine bottles and overpriced liquor in the past 24 hours.

“You can’t think like that.”

“I know that it’s your job to be optimistic, Kara, but I really can’t handle that right now.”

“I’m sorry…I just don’t want you to give up so quickly.”

“You saw what they did to her the last time.  She was supposed to die and the only reason she didn’t was you swooping in to save her at the last second.  And I don’t see that happening twice.”

“I don’t know Y/N as well as you do, but it seems like she always finds her way back to you.  I might be Supergirl, but she’s strong too.  And I believe that we’ll find her, or she’ll escape.”

“I…I can’t lose her, Kara.  She is the first thing I’ve ever had that’s good,” Lena’s voice trembled in the way it did the night she first begged Kara for her help.  “I need her.  I need Y/N.”

The alcohol had finally brought her back to the point where tears spilled over and Kara wrapped an arm around the pitiful woman beside her.  The touch, though warm and comforting, was not yours.  The perfume that clung to the fabric of the sweater she buried her face in was not yours.

That only made her cry harder.

“Shhh, it’s alright.  Everything’s going to be okay,” Kara muttered softly.  As her hand rubbed up and down Lena’s back, she found herself wondering if she even believed that.  You could only escape death so many times.

“We were supposed to go to Amsterdam.”

Lena’s voice was muffled and thick with emotion.

“She wanted to take a trip; get away for a while.  We picked Amsterdam.”

“Why Amsterdam?” Kara asked in an attempt to distract Lena for a little bit.

“I’ve never been and she’s never been.  She wanted to see the canals a-and the Anne Frank house.”

“That sounds like a nice trip.”

“I doubt we’ll ever take it.”

The burning started with the lining of your stomach.  It was a gradual sensation; beginning with something that resembled mild heartburn.  Then it became less of an annoyance and more of an ill feeling.  You chewed the inside of your cheek in an attempt to keep a hold on your gag reflex.  About a minute before you finally vomited, the cuffs on your wrists and ankles unlocked and you were at least able to roll over and avoid soiling the white scrubs you had been dressed in.

You recovered from the bout of illness and, upon having a free range of movement again, felt at the sore spot on the back of your neck.  The wire from the freshly applied stitches poked at your fingertips and you took a sharp breath.

You knew what you had to do.

f what Lillian had said was true and not just some fucked up mind game…you couldn’t let yourself be controlled by whatever was in your neck.  You had to get it out.

Knowing that the longer you waited, the harder it would be to make yourself tear the stitches, you reached behind your head and gripped the skin on either side of the incision.

An anguished cry tore through your throat as you slowly pulled.  Warmth began flooding down towards your back as blood spurted out of the cut.  You were so absorbed in your own pain that you didn’t hear the steel door unlock and the intrusion of the two men until they were grabbing you by the arms and strapping you back down to the table.  Your fingers were stained red and blood continued to stream out of your neck; useless proof of a failed endeavor.  You were powerless to stop this.

It was cruel really, to know that at that very moment, new cells were replacing your own that would make you far more powerful than any human on Earth, yet you couldn’t do anything to save her.  Your own impending demise was the last car attached to your jumbled train of thoughts.  All you could picture as an indifferent CADMUS employee mopped up your vomit was Lena.  Her scared eyes looking up and the confusion behind them.

It made sense, really, that this would be how things ended.  You had never been able to keep from hurting her.
This one is a little shorter than the normal chapters, but the next one is going to be a whopper.  Lots of angst, action, violence, and maybe a death or two…

Part of Your World (Johnny Gargano x Reader) (Part One)

** Author’s note: I had so so much fun writing this. Not to mention that I got to combine my love of wrestling (And Johnny) with Disney. Also, I suggest you have tissues near by, because I even got teary eyed writing this.

Also, this will be a two (possibly three part series depending on feedback.)

Johnny Gargano. The boy with big brown eyes and an even bigger heart. The small town boy from Cleveland, Ohio with ambition and a dream.

The boy who I would spend hours outside with while I watched him practice moves, the boy that I would always get into trouble with, and rode on the handles of my bicycle down the street to his house.

…… The boy who I fell in love with, but never got a chance to tell him.

(June 4th, 1994)

Sat with their dunkaroos and Hi-C juice boxes in front of a staticky small television, a 7 year old Johnny & Y/N were completely enamored in a VHS tape that they’d watched probably a million times.

The Little Mermaid.

The messy brown haired boy, gave an exasperated sigh as the opening card played.

“I told you we should have watched power rangers.” He grumbled through a mouthful of sugary icing. “I bet this guy can’t kick butt like red ranger.” He boasted in admiration.

The little girl, completely ignored his complaint as she watched with bright eyes, and a grin that could light up the room.

“Oh yeah? I bet Red ranger doesn’t have a princess to fall in love with.” She sassily replied, taking a long sip of juice.

“Fine. But next time I get to pick the movie. My dad just recorded Wrestlemania 10 and he said I can watch it. You gotta see Shawn Michaels!” He glanced down at her with a dimpled smile.

“Shhhhh.” She waved him off as the characters sang the first song.

He would never admit that she was the reason he’d fallen in love with Disney films, but as they grew older it became so much more important to him.

The two of them were practically inseparable. Even their different class schedules in high school couldn’t keep them apart.

He was there for her through her first breakup, who he’d actually end up fighting the guy that broke her heart. When he’d came back to her doorstep busted up, he was sporting a nasty busted lip and black eye, but a stupid and proud grin.

“What the hell happened to you?!” She stared in disbelief at her messy black haired best friend.

He gave a half chuckle, awkwardly rubbing his neck as she rushed him inside, parents away at work.

“I couldn’t let him hurt you like that, y/n. I couldn’t watch you cry over that jerk. You deserve better than that.” His voice was quiet, but full of care.

All she could do was gawk at his admission.

“Y-you need ice, and peroxide.” She quickly babbled, holding back tears as she rushed to grab the supplies to patch him up.

That night, the two childhood best friends shared their first kiss. Consolation and chivalry showing that he loved her and would do anything for her.

She held her sweaty best friend tightly, happy sobs escaping her small frame with his strong arms wrapped around her waist.

“Y/N… I did it. /We/ did it.” Johnny’s voice broke through a sob as they stood in the back of the New York venue.

He had made a promise that if he’d ever make it, he wanted her to be there to cheer him on when he would have to say goodbye. She was proud, but selfishly heartbroken.

They watched the sunset behind the sizeable venue in Queens, New York. Instead of sightseeing with the limited time he had, he’d made an excuse to spend time with her. The girl of his dreams.

“All that’s missing is a couple of dunkaroos, huh?” Johnny’s voice was nostalgic and quiet, glancing down at her head contently nestled against his shoulder as they nibbled on their slices of pizza and sipped their cokes from the restaurant down the street.

She let out a small chuckle and a nod, glancing up into those big brown eyes that she’d known forever.

“And you constantly complaining about how you wondered if Ariel would taste like sushi?” She grinned brightly, making him return his own bearded and dimpled smile.

“Hey!” He playfully scolded with a cheek full of pizza. “That was a valid concern! And I was like… ten!” He scoffed through a chuckle.

“You’re such a weirdo.” She playfully teased as she took another sip of coke.

Johnny held up his hands in mock defense.

“But, I’m your weirdo. So it’s technically your fault for my issues.” He teased back, but his voice was warm and smooth.

Monday morning. They were both back home, luckily it was an observance day so it allowed her to spend his last day with him before he had to fly down to Orlando.

They sat in the bedroom of his apartment, not too far away from their childhood homes. Tears were shed and memories shared as they packed and sorted through his things.

A pile of his old shirts were beside her to the left of his bed, and to her right a box of Polaroids.

After a long day of packing, they found themselves in a majority empty apartment besides for a few necessities that came with it and food in the kitchen.

“Just like the good ol’ days, eh y/n?” Johnny gave a warm smile, as he came back into the living room dressed in a grey shirt and his favorite deadpool pajama pants with a big smile and an armful of snacks to accompany the Domino’s they had ordered.

He plopped down beside her on the nest of blankets and pillows on the floor in front of the television, and set down the dunkaroos and juice boxes with glimmering brown eyes watching her jaw drop.

“I- they…” She stumbled over her words.

“Stopped making them years ago?” His lips quirked in amusement. “And since it’s a special occasion I even got the Hi-C Ectocoolers.”

“Y-yeah, but-” She couldn’t help but blush and give her own smile.

“I know a guy. And by guy, I mean amazon prime.” He admired her bright eyes and messy hair, and the smile that he loved so much. He was going to miss the movie nights, and even letting her beat him at video games just to see her light up with pride.

(Johnny’s POV)

I hated stepping away from my home. The girl I was afraid to admit my feelings for. She was everything to me, but so was wrestling. Y/N had been there for me through everything. Try outs, and even being one of the fifty people that would show up for an Indy show.

I trusted her with everything. Stupid finishers that I would practice in the trampoline in her backyard, and even my fears about not making it.

When I felt like I had nothing, she made me feel like I had everything.

Seeing her so peaceful, fallen asleep curled up beside me made me miss her already. The way her hair fell perfectly even though it was messy, and how adorable she looked in her pajamas.

I’d miss everything, that took me so long to make.

She was completely fallen asleep, not realizing that he’d pulled her close until she felt his comforting warmth blanketed over her.

“I promise that no matter what, I will never ever forget you.” He softly cooed, large hand coming to gently brush through her soft hair, making her smile in her sleep.

“I.. I know I’m a coward for waiting until now to tell you.. I-” He quietly huffed a laugh. “You’re perfect, y/n. And whether you know it or not, I’ll always be your Eric.” He cooed, leaning to press a gentle kiss to her forehead.

Little did she know, she wouldn’t be able to tell him how she felt. Her heart ached every time she would see him on television, and his words in the back of her mind.

But as things have a funny way of working, they would find their way back to each other. No matter what.
