you are my favourite movie ever

okay so since the carmilla fandom is basically dead / going into hibernation until the movie i figured i’d make a fic rec post just for fun (and then go drown myself in riverdale), going from my favourites to decent ones:

white blank page - angsty college sports au and the dopest thing ever

exposure - slow burn and internal suffering and emotions it is gorgeous, college au again but carmilla does photography

i’ll keep you safe if you keep me wild - bounty hunter carmilla moves to the country and an adorable love story

pens - one shot (which is unusual bc i normally hate them) but its a subway strangers kinda thing

chasing ghosts - post military laura comes back to hometown, spoiler carmilla has a daughter shit gets real fluffy tbh but there’s also some angst

clockwork - i honestly don’t remember this one that well but apparently i liked it so heres a flower shop au

pandemic - weird infection dystopian thriller au thing but holy shit the plot twist in this one is wild, also i cried at the end soooooo (happy tears i think)

this distant image of our tiny world - space au in a mars colony, hear me out, holy shit the setting is so well described and you can imagine this all so well its beautiful

the minister’s daughter - lgbt christian community, it’s acc quite sweet

absolution - short hollence-hollstein cheat fic, it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure

your mom called, you left your game at home - softball rivals and mucho angst turned hate sex??? turned dating (I’m spotting a trend here)

music to my ears - high school band and orchestra au don’t judge it’s cute alright

the road to home - road trip au with a v slow romance but hey ho its a good one

where your treasure is, there will your heart be also - fluffy but mostly plot based hogwarts au yet i ended up enjoying it v much so give it a go

the triwizard tournament - another sappy and soft but more hollstein centric hogwarts au why not

on our last leg - olympic running au, a v v v long one shot i believe

this just can’t be summer love - pretty writing, hawaii romance one shot

four walls - like a fucking action novel holy shit y’all

strangers - incomplete fwb story but damn i wish there was more

(of all persisting stars) - their first time from both povs

the mirror between us - an okay one shot but i loved the twist

[also not with haste, back to back, god knows it’s not what we would choose to do, she smelled like lilacs, no space among the clouds, maybe the spark between us can light my cigarette, touched by stars, just stay with me, meet me halfway to your heart, gossip column, the sun dont set if we keep heading west]

okay I’m done (for now) (or maybe not wow this takes a long time)

lgbt film meme: favourite lgbt movie ever [more] → Pride (2014) dir. Matthew Warchus

“I grew up in Northern Ireland. I know all about what happens when people
don't talk to each other. That's why I've never understood what's the
point of supporting gay rights but nobody else's rights, you know?”

You know what I’m so done with this. We can all agree that Moana kicked ass but can we quite acting like Frozen is the root of all evil?

Y’all keep acting like Frozen is the worst movie Disney’s ever made but, as someone whose childhood contained releases such as Chicken Little, Home on the Range, and The Wild, I can tell you that it’s anything but. Frozen is great:

  • It gives us the most relatable portrayal of a sisterly relationship in a disney movie yes I also love Lilo and Nani but their age difference and care situation means Anna and Elsa are more relatable to most families
  • It has an incredible soundtrack with amazing broadway voice talent (again, my favourite soundtrack from when I was a child is probably Lilo and Stich. And it only has 2 original songs.)
  • Elsa is a great role model for kids, teaching them to accept themselves and confide in others when they’re having difficulties. She teaches kids that it’s okay not to be strong all the time and to open up to those who love you
  • Anna is also a fantastic heroine. She’s much less refined than previous princesses and gives a new meaning to ‘disney princess’. She’s fierce and determined and passionate, all things we should encourage in young girls
  • The story line is also compelling. I don’t care what you guys say when everyone first came out of seeing Frozen back in 2013 everyone was shitting themselves about the twist at the end
  • While the character designs could have been improved on, there are still some moments of beautiful animation (Elsa building her castle in let it go in particular)

So yes, Frozen is severely lacking in diversity, and yes there are comedic characters that most people over the age of 7 could do without, but at the end of the day Frozen was a vast improvement on the movies immediately preceding it. Again, looking at the 2000s, there are many disney movies that wouldn’t even have passed the Bechdel test.

Frozen was a stepping stone; incredibly white washed but progressing disney in terms of representation of women and returning to its high standard of animation. Moana and Zootopia have built on Frozen by adding a much more diverse cast and tackling more complex issues, but Frozen is loved by children all over the world and I for one am glad that a movie with such strong female characters is available for young kids to watch and admire

“From here on out, I am only interested in what is real. Real people, real feelings, that’s it, that’s all I’m interested in.”

Almost Famous came out in 2000 and it is directed by Cameron Crowe and serves as a semi-biography. It is also one of the best coming-of-age films I have ever seen, shared along with Stand By Me. As you may know, this film is one of my favourites. It is my home, it’s like a hug, strange at it seems. It is the life I want, well if I lived in the 70s. It’s the film I choose to watch when I’m feeling down, although it gives you quite the heartache at times. Almost Famous is drama/comedy film about music, 70’s music to be exact.

So the story is about 15-year-old William Miller (Patrick Fugit) who wants to be a writer, a rock writer, mind. William gets the opportunity to travel with up and coming band Stillwater. Before that big event, William submits his record reviews to Creem magazine writer Lester Bangs (Philip Seymour Hoffman). The two becomes friends and Williams gets the mentor of his dreams. Soon after William goes on a mission for Rolling stone, where he meets the girls, the band aids, the un-groupies. Penny Lane (Kate Hudson) the band aids leader takes a liking to the teen and William falls head over heels for her. William leaves his home, with the band Stillwater (Billy Crudup, Jason Lee, John Fedevich and Mark Kozeleck) and leaves his “trying to mean well” mother, Elaine (Frances McDormand) to worry.

This film is filled with lovely, wonderful performances. Patrick Fugit portrays naive and young William very well, Frances McDormand is brilliant as William and Anita’s (Zooey Deschanel) mother. Billy Crudup and Kate Hudson fill the screen with romantic tension and a bit of heartbreak, or a lot of it actually. Kate Hudson as mysterious, ageless, nameless “Penny Lane”, yes like the song, is brilliant and honest. Her character is very relatable and it really isn’t hard to fall for her ways. The beer scene is one to really look closely at. As always Philip Seymour Hoffman is brilliant, he exudes arrogance and confidence, he’s always such a good supporting actor.

The soundtrack, of course, is so very good, filled with classic rock tunes, only the best. The music written by then-wife of Crowe, Nancy Wilson, for Stillwater is so bloody good. It’s a visually good looking film, but the cinematography isn’t an element that stands out, this film is about honest characters and good music. I recommend it forever, I really do, and if you want the get the absolute best experience from it I would recommend trying to find the extended version.

It’s always freaky (in a good way) when you find out after knowing someone for a while that they like the exact same stuff that you do.  There’s this other mum whom I have been working with on the local community orchard and park for the last year and a bit but because of that all we ever have really talked about have been apple trees and our kids.  And then she came over to my house past weekend for some pizza and we were just talking about movies we were going to see and stuff and she says something along the lines of “oh yeah I am really looking forward to the live action beauty and the beast, it’s my favourite film ever” and I’m like “whhaattt”???  “Yeah…. I just love the Beast…”  “asdghghhgk”.   So I am rubbish with talking about these things so I just draw a picture of her as Belle.
But above all I love the fact that so many people I know who have a thing that they got into when they were kids/teenagers and it never ever goes away.  You don’t magically stop enjoying what you liked as a youngster when you become an “adult” and you will remember it always.  Older I get the more sorry I feel for the people who gave up things because they think it beneath themselves or too childish because these are the people I don’t ever remember seeing with that pure joyous smile of happiness on their faces when someone does or says something about their thing, that thing they like above all other things, that awesome thing.

Moonlight (Peter Parker x Reader)

Request: Can you please do an imagine based on “moonlight” by Ariana grande? Thank you 😊💕

A/N: This is my favourite imagine I have ever written. I tried a different writing technique and I think it fits this scenario perfectly. I hope you love this x

The movie is playing in the background, the lights are off. The sun enters through the window, its last rays making the room a mixture of dark oranges and reds.
Peter wraps his arms around her, pulling her closer to him. They lie on the sofa, looking at the TV but not paying attention to what the actors are saying. She plays with his fingers, leaving soft kisses on his fingertips every now and then. He always smiles.
He looks at her and admires her features. She is so beautiful. He wants to caress her cheek, to tell her he loves her. Should he tell her? Should he risk their friendship?
She looks back at him when she feels him staring, and she asks him if anything is wrong. Peter shakes his head and smiles softly, pushing a strand of hair out of her face.
She sits up, and he instantly misses her body cuddling against his own, but she puts her legs around his waist, sitting on his legs. She hasn’t let go of his hand, and she is not planning on doing it.
Peter smiles and looks down to their intertwined hands, feeling brave and pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. She moves her head to the side to give him more access, and he starts to move his lips along her skin, sending shivers up her spine. She moans his name, giving him reassurance to continue.
His lips move on their own, travelling to her neck. She wants him to press his lips against her own, to tell her that he loves her. She wants to let him know she is his, so she rocks her hips against his, making him groan. She smirks softly at that sound.
Peter then looks at her, his cheeks red and lips puffy. He can’t believe he is kissing her. He can’t believe she is his.
She whispers his name before finally kissing him, her hand tugging at the hairs on the back of his neck; her other hand still holding his.
She suddenly breaks apart, realizing she should go -it’s late. But he whispers for her to stay.
And so she does.
She stays, and she kisses him when he pulls apart to breathe. They kiss until they are tired, until they can’t feel their lips any longer.
The movie keeps playing in the background as the sun sets and the moonlight takes over the room and covers them in darkness, their eyes closing, their bodies close to each other, and their hand intertwined as she kisses his fingertips again, feeling the moonlight in them.

Mamamoo Reaction to: You Surprising Them With Chocolate & Tampons On Their Period

Solar: so loud about her appreciation, hugging you tightly and shrieking right in your ear; “thank you, thank you!”

Moonbyul: wordlessly accepts the gifts, more focused on the horrid cramps that made her curl up on herself. but when the pain subsides, she thanks you properly and repays you if you ever need her

Wheein: starts crying

Hwasa: snatches the chocolate like “oh shit you got my favourite, thanks!” and it’s only when her period ends that the kindness of your gesture sinks in. then she’ll show up at your door with your favourite food like “surprise! put a movie on, you’re being blessed with my presence staying over tonight! :D”

the ever-brilliant @schwanensee tagged me (thank you!) to list my 9 favourite movies that I watched for the very first time in 2016. I’m appalled at myself for watching so few ‘new-to-me’ movies this year, and hardly nothing before the 90s that I didn’t already know & love (annual watch of The Lion in Winter ect.,). Must be more adventurous next year sigh sigh. Well, in no particular order:

- Under the Skin (2013, Jonathan Glazer)

- HyperNormalisation (2016, Adam Curtis)

- The Lobster (2015, Yorgos Lanthimos)

- Arrival (2016,  Denis Villeneuve)

- Ex Machina (2015,  Alex Garland)

- Gone, Girl ( 2014, David Fincher)

- All the Way (2016, Jay Roach)

- Merchants of Doubt (2014, Robert Kenner

- The Witch (2015, Robert Eggers)

(The worst movies I saw this year were: The Butler; Independence Day: Resurgence; The 5th Wave, and High-Rise [i so angry & disappointed about this piece of shit movie])

I’m now meant to invite some others to do their own, so off the top of my head; also, in the nicest poss way: do it (great), or don’t, ça m’est égal…@threedaysofrain, @astroite, @of-the-curveship, @henconouthal@jamigreenfield @joyceansreadjoyce, @thetreesweremisstaken, @sisterswallow @woodlandmarchingband, @ouroboroughs, @totalitarianvegetables, @achoiceofthree, @vespertinechild & finally @richardsiken-poet.

antaneyahj  asked:

Do you happen to like chocolate? Also, Sailor Moon R the movie: Promise of the Rose recently came out. If you had already seen the movie, what are your thoughts? Especially, comparing it to the 90's dub. Also, did you ever get into the Yu-Gi-Oh series?

Who doesn’t love chocolate sis?.

Whoops Valentine’s day is around the corner and I forgot to get a bae.

Promise of the Rose is my favourite Sailor Moon movie, I even own a VHS of that movie lmao.I loved it back in the day when it came out and I still do because that movie is flawfree.

I’ve always watched that movie in japanese so I can’t really tell you about the new dub (hopefully some good sis who has will fill us in about that).

I’m sure it’s pretty good, I think the new voice actors are doing a great job and you don’t have to pick a better version when you can have both and enjoy both of them!.

And as for Yu-Gi-Oh, I watched one episode and decided that it wasn’t my cup of tea. That show needs more magical girls and more common sense in hair styles.

I kinda ship this tho.

Marty + Jennifer appreciation post thing.

Undeniably my favourite movie couple ever. These two are just so cute and are so perfect together my god. Thought these cuties needed a post.

You probably noticed there’s only pictures of Claudia wells as Jennifer and no Elizabeth shue. That’s because I prefer Claudia wells performance to Elizabeth shue’s. It’s not that I HATE Elizabeth shues performance, I just prefer Claudias (also I personally think that Claudia was a lot prettier, no offence to Elizabeth), and I don’t actually have any pictures of Elizabeth shue Jennifer. But I COULD do a post on Marty and Elizabeth shue Jennifer if anybody wants.

You know what’s a tragically under-appreciated movie? Flushed Away. The story kind of wanders off through about three only marginally related versions of the plot, but that’s okay, because this movie has the following:

  • Gratuitous singing slugs. They never do anything of any note, but the movie wouldn’t be half as much fun without them.
  • Fabulous details. Everything in the main body of the story is built out of garbage and it’s wonderful. The background is also full of little jokes and references you have to keep your eyes open to spot. My favourite is Han Solo’s cameo (he’s in the fridge).
  • A number of well-known actors enjoying themselves mightily, including Ian McKellan, who sounds like this is the most fun he has ever had without Patrick Stewart.
  • Brilliant use of Dancing With Myself
  • British, French, and American stereotypes both employed and parodied to great effect.
  • Good old-fashioned Looney Tunes-style cartoon violence.
  • A joke involving a cell phone and a mime that literally reduced me to hysterical tears. It goes on and on and somehow just gets funnier and funnier. The movie is worth watching for this gag alone.
