Convinced my boyfriend to do a 30 minute session with me after work today ^__^. I’m trying to get better at practicing, even just for a little while after work each day. Sometimes it’s so hard, but it feels so good on my body when I do! Especially because I am sitting intently at a desk all day every day :p.

I had some great breakthrough’s with my triangle and warrior III, which I am super excited about! I was able to touch the floor in triangle, and I was able to hold my warrior III better than ever! The hardest thing about it, for me, is not only keeping the balance but also keeping my body aligned! And I think that I was able to do both today, which is a lovely feeling.

Warrior 3, aka Virabhadrasana 3, is a fantastic pose that strengthens the legs and core while improving balance and posture. I’ve found the secret to balancing in this pose is to firmly kick out through the extended heel and to tap into the abs. Remember to keep the hips square to the ground versus letting one rise above the other. We will be exploring this pose and many more tonight in my 7pm Vinyasa class at Karen Lord Pilates Movement. Day 1 for the #OmOpener 15 day yoga challenge begins with Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) 💕🙌 Time to open your OM and open your heart ❤️ Begin lying on the floor and stretch legs back, tops of feet on the floor. Spread your hands on the floor under your shoulders. Hug the elbows close to the body. Press the tops of the feet and thighs into the floor, and on an inhale, begin to straighten the arms to lift the chest off the floor, going only to the height at which you can maintain connection through the legs. Press the tailbone towards the pelvis and lift the pelvis towards the navel. Firm shoulder blades against the back. Lift through the top of the sternum but avoid pushing ribs forward.
