yoga super pose

Lance is a super good gymnast and while he was trying to hide how flexible he was it was hard. Like when people asked him to get something for him and they were far away he could pretty much bend in half to get to it. They’d look at him like “Σ(‘◉⌓◉’)” and he’d just shrug it off saying he just stretched.

But while fighting Lance is just so graceful and easygoing it’s not hard to tell he’s most likely a gymnast or dancer. He denies it at first since he was made fun of for being a gymnast before while being a man.

Slowly he becomes more and more comfortable and weird. Like Shiro will ask him to get something for him and Lance will just casually look like he’s breaking his body to get it because he didn’t wanna get up from his seat either. It’s weird and stuff like the really crazy yoga poses but super super cool to see up close.

Just give me a flexible Lance who could probably bend in half and do the really complicated yoga poses and do the the splits and freakin just Lance being flexible in general.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I adore Shoulderstand, aka Sarvangasana. It’s truly a yoga super pose as it opens the chest and shoulders, lengthens the spine, brings fresh blood to the thyroid, helps with circulation and very efficiently moves lymph around the body giving you a mega immune system boost. Rarely do I ever teach a class where I leave this amazing pose out. If the chilling cold is making you feel a bit less than healthy, hold it for 2 to 3 minutes and get your lymph nodes buzzing.

This is Braden Holtby. Holtbeast. Holtbest. The Beast. The Best. #70 goaltender for the Washington Capitals. He is 6’ 2" and 27 years old. He was drafted 93rd overall to the Caps in 2008. He’s played for 2 of the Caps’ affiliate teams: ECHL the South Carolina Stingrays and AHL team Hershey Bears. He is known for his awesome hair, his glorious beard, his insane goalkeeping skills, and being woke af.

Braden Holtby is the kind of guy you would like to bring home to meet your parents. (Backy’s words, not mine, though I do not disagree.) He and his wife, Brandi, have two beautiful golden and honestly this family is goals af.

So I mentioned that Holtby is woke, and now I’m going to tell you why. The Holtbys, after getting married, went to San Francisco for their honeymoon and they learned about the LGBTQ+ community and left San Fran as allies. They’ve donated blood to the LGBTQ+ community and have made other contributions. Braden is also one of the ambassadors for the Caps for the league-wide campaign called You Can Play. He and his wife along with some other Caps staff marched in the 2016 DC Pride Parade.

He’s also won awards for his superb goaltending like the Vezina trophy and he’s been an NHL All Star. Holtbeast has played for Team Canada in the World Cup of Hockey but was the backup for Carey Price and when he was asked if he thought he thought he would get the start over Carey he basically was like “Heavens no. He’s Carey Price.” So very humble. We love him.

Holtby is very stretchy and does weird super yoga poses to stretch before games and it’s documented. He also does this thing with his water where he squirts it in the air and follows a droplet with his eyes because if you can keep track of it you can keep track of a puck. He also pours a lot of the water on his hair. Anyway. He’s great. He’s the kind of guy you just want to be around, the kind of guy you want to be friends with, the kind of person you want to be.

The entire roster also participates in yoga class, which players enjoyed so much last year as an optional activity that the staff decided to make it a mandated part of player workouts this year.

The big idea is that happy players make for better players. Everyone in the facility, from coaches and players to personal assistants and valets, is expected to follow Carroll’s mantras regarding positivity of thought, words and actions. “Do your job better than it has ever been done before,” he tells them.”
