yoga is my life

You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting….

Hi Lalah! What are your morning rituals for when you wake up?

My daily morning ritual is this;

• As soon as I awaken I smile and give thanks. Doing so sends a power message to my entire body, being, energy field and to the universe that all is well and working for my good.
• I pray
• I meditate/listen
• I drink a big glass of spring water
• I stretch
• I have warm lemon water
• I write/journal
• I play my ‘Energy Cleanse’ playlist on Spotify
• I set my intention for the day
And so on. :)

Yoga has saved my life in so many ways. I hope to write about this in detail someday. Many people think that you have to go through the poses in order to ultimately attain a certain level of physical perfection; they become exquisite technicians of the asanas and adept at artful and subtle control and manipulation of the somatic realm. This is admirable because it requires great discipline, yet it can be very intimidating to some. For me, though, the practice of Yoga is about showing up-no matter what state your physical body is in-no matter how stiff, out of shape, sad, disappointed, emotional or tired you may be, and just being there for yourself to accept and honor where you are at this point in time, with awareness and reverence to your authentic and personal journey. All of this will change, shift, grow, progress, expand, contract, expand again, and when we can allow ourselves to be on the journey without judging our progress-and allow ourselves to just show up without preconceived notions of what we need to “achieve” in our practice for results-we embrace yoga in its truest essence. The union - the yoga - becomes the medicine we can use to integrate into the present moment to honor, respect and learn more about our essential nature. By doing that, we learn to love ourselves wherever we are at in our progress. By showing up and having the courage to do so regardless of whatever state of mind, soul or body we may be in, we not only learn to love and heal ourselves, but we grow the capacity to learn to truly love others. Blessed journey everyone💗💗💗

Woke up this morning, threw on my favorite workout clothes, and headed to yoga where I took some much-needed relaxation time. I decided to continue my practice when I got home. It was a tough week for me. From car troubles, difficulties at work and school, to feeling completely inadequate and unsatisfied with my personal relationships; I was in desperate need of some self-care.

When I was younger, I always frowned upon the thought of doing yoga. I used to claim, “It’s too easy.” As a competitive runner and soccer player, I was used to the constant adrenaline. I never let myself slow down. As I’ve grown up, I’ve realized that I need to take more time for myself. Slowing down is still extremely challenging for me, but I’ve gotten so much better at listening to my body. I’m so thankful for yoga, and for a passion that makes me feel genuinely good about myself no matter what life throws at me.

Here’s to hoping everyone has a relaxing weekend. 💕🙏🏻

PROVE THEM WRONG! Yes, I was pregnant in the first picture. I gained 80 pounds in my 9 months of growing a tiny human.

For any mommies that need some extra motivation this week- it took me almost 2 years for me to change my body composition.

The picture on the left is 6 days before I had my son- he will turn 2 next Saturday 🤗 the second picture was about 2 weeks ago. Change takes time but don’t give up!

I promise you I know every way to fail- but it takes only one time to succeed to change your life. 💙💙💙

Steph on CP and Yoga.

Christen Press- Then we have Christen, who is in the corner performing a Los Angeles rendition of the Nutcracker ballet. Christen has informed me and Samantha Johnson that if we continue to distract the others (since when is twerking during downward dog and cuddling during Shavasana inappropriate??) she’s going to suggest we be kicked out of Yoga.

Well Christen, if you read this, 1) how about a retweet and 2) it’s not that easy for me to follow along either when your auditioning for a broadway show. Regardless, I plan on buying a tutu and practicing nutcracker ballet yoga every night in the confines of my own home to see if its the secret to acquiring world class composure in front of goal.

Bonus: This week, with myself and a small number of others egging her, on she bluntly asked with her signature look (resting b**** face) “Is yoga mandatory this week?” Without delay, Rory replied that Yoga absolutely is mandatory, and that her question is probably better suited for a private conversation at a different time. Good on you Sam, you miss every shot you don’t take.

(The Bonus my way of saying Rory loves Christen so much he is now a yoga advocator)

A little bit of a body update for y'all.
I weighed myself this morning at 187.8lbs
This is the heaviest I’ve been in four years (also I’m on lady time this week so I’m hoping I’ll drop a few lbs by the weekend) anywayyy even though this is the heaviest I’ve been, my attitude towards myself is a lot different than last time. I’m embracing the body I have while I try to make it better. I tried running last week and my hip was sore for a few days so I’m gonna have to cut that out. Right now I’m gonna stick with yoga as my primary form of exercise and upper body strength training. I’m just gonna have to pray those Brazilian booty genes pull through! 🍑😏

This was long but I just wanna say that even though my body isn’t currently where I would like it to be, it’s a body. And it’s gotten me through one of the toughest years of my life.

So, thank you body. You are lovely just the way you are. ❤
