Yes, everybody I know there are no links! Tumblr updated one day and they just disappeared! Sadly, this was a great master post but that’s the end of that!
Tips for studying (with depression/anxiety), Pt. 2

First of all, my post got a huge response, so thank you!  Over the past couple of days, I’ve been thinking more about the things that I do and that help me when studying and I decided to make a part two of all the things I forgot.  So here it is, part two.

1. Get up when your alarm goes off.  You set your alarm at that time for a reason.  I fall into this trap all the time where I wake up and spend time in bed on my phone and then lose all motivation to wake up.  If you wake up before your alarm goes off, great!  Get up when you naturally wake up or when your alarm goes off, either way, don’t lounge around in bed.

2. Get dressed and get ready.  Even if you have nothing to do.  I’m gonna say something that normally doesn’t get said: sometimes those of us with depression forget to brush our hair, our teeth, or shower.  So just force yourself to do it.  Don’t go three days without brushing your teeth.  Don’t let your hair get greasy and tangled.  Take care of yourself.

3.  Go somewhere that’s not your house/dorm room/apartment.  It’s hard to have motivation when you’re at home with netflix and your novels all day.  So if you have nothing to do that day, get up, get dressed, do your makeup if you like to, and go somewhere else.  I love to go to Barnes and Noble to study.  Go to the library, go to Starbucks, make the trip to campus.  Just get out of your house.

4.  Keep your room clean.  After a long day of studying, you don’t want to come home to a room filled with trash.  I am so, so guilty of this.  I am so unmotivated to stay organized, but it’s pretty important.  Being more organized will give you more motivation and help you study.  It will also help when you sleep late and you don’t have to dig through piles of clothes on your floor.

5. Take a break.  It gets overwhelming to study so much, so go on tumblr for fifteen minutes, bullet journal for a little while, color, organize your school supplies, do some yoga.  And then get back to work.

6. Figure out when the best time is for you to go to class.  For instance, I know that I cannot get up and go to a class before 10 am.  I just won’t do it.  I’d miss too many classes.  I prefer to take afternoon and night classes.  Some other people like to start their days earlier.  Figure out what works for you and do it.

7.  Don’t be afraid to change your schedule.  If you attend syllabus week and you just think you can’t handle your courses, then you don’t have to.  I literally change my schedule almost every semester, so go for it.  You have to do what’s best for you.

8.  Know your priorities.  I have to juggle both work and school, which can be difficult when I’m extremely depressed.  But I know that school always comes before work and I come before both.

9. Reward yourself.  Had a bad day?  Got a good grade?  Either way, good or bad, treat yourself.

10.  Don’t compare yourself to others.  If I compared my progress to my high school friends, I probably wouldn’t get out of bed.  But I don’t.  Don’t feel bad about deleting people from facebook, either.  Sometimes it’s hard to focus when your high school friends are getting married or whatever.  Focus on yourself and your goals.

CORE MEDITATION: Breathing This classic meditation can deepen concentration by teaching us to focus on the “in breath” and the “out breath.” Sit comfortably on a cushion or chair and keep your back upright, without straining or overarching. If you can’t sit, then lie on your back on a yoga mat or folded blanket with your arms at your sides. Just be at ease and close your eyes, or gaze gently a few feet in front of you and aim for a state of alert relaxation. Take three or four deep breaths, feeling the air as it enters your nostrils, fills your chest and abdomen, and flows out again. Then let your breathing settle into a natural rhythm, and just feel the breath as it happens, without trying to change it or improve it—all you have to do is feel it. Notice where you sense your breath most intensely. Perhaps it’s at the nostrils, or at the chest or abdomen. Then rest your attention as lightly as a butterfly rests on a flower—only on that area—and become aware of the sensations there. For example, if you’re focusing on the breath at the nostrils, you may experience tingling, vibration, or pulsing, or you may observe that the breath is cooler when it comes in and warmer when it goes out. If you’re focusing on the breath at the abdomen, you may feel movement, pressure, stretching, or release. You don’t need to name these feelings—simply let your attention rest on them, one breath at a time. (Notice how often the word rest comes up in this instruction. This is a very restful practice). You don’t need to make the inhalation deeper or longer or different from the way it is. Just be aware of it, one breath at a time. Whenever you notice your attention has wandered and your mind has jumped to the past or the future, to judgment or speculation, don’t worry about it. Seeing your attention has wandered is the signal to gently let go of whatever has distracted you and return your attention to the feeling of the breath. If you have to let go over and over again, that’s fine—being able to more gracefully start over when we’ve become distracted or disconnected is one of the biggest benefits of meditation practice.

{ Energy Cleanse } Take Your Power Back

We all know those energy draining days and would probably ALL prefer to SKIP them. But hey… life happens, so we’ve got be ready to respond back….BUT in an empowering way (though).
Energy cleansing- mind and body is epically essential to staying balanced, in tune and in harmony with our higher selves; it’s how we take out power back.
Drinking green juice and journaling daily  is a perfect way to {respond, release, realign, rejuvenate and recover}, all some of the big R’s in energy recovery and healing. Shout out to all my fellow {Empaths}.

 PLEASE take the time to cleanse yourself of the energy you are picking up from those around and from just being out in the world, each day. Most of the energetic heaviness and drained energy- mind and body that we feel is not our own stuff…it’s —> OTHER people’s ‘stuff’. ( Uggggh…..right?! I know. ) 

You are an energy sponge and it’s trying to attach to you (because you are pretty epically amazing…but hmmmm NO….don’t let it).
Create a routine and also the time daily to discharge this intruding energy; so that you can keep vibrating higher and feeling in tune with your higher and optimal energetic self, mind, body and spirit.

A few other ways that help me and countless others to rejuvenate, clear and cleanse of disagreeable and toxic energy and emotions whether coming from within or without are: sea salt baths, yoga, dancing, prayer, meditation, some sort of physical fitness, spending time in nature, massage, positive music, visiting the beach, crystals, rest and sage smudging just to name a few of many. The main thing with disagreeable and toxic energy is to catch it fast….and to give it no life or power to take any comfort, manifestation or shape within you or around your atmosphere.
I will be posting/blogging on Empaths and ways of protecting your energy in more detail and depth coming soon.

Keep your energy protected, cleansed and vibrating high daily, because the world needs you on point and seated on your divine throne of joy, love and purpose.

Every muscle in your body was protesting your continued movements. You don’t know what in God’s name compelled you to go to the gym with someone who literally runs for 90 minutes as a job, but you were really regretting it at this point. Your body was drenched head to toe in sweat, not even that cute light mist those girls on social media got. Nooo, the hair at your temples were soaked with it.

If you hadn’t been friends with Paulo from you two were kids, this might have been embarrassing. But he’s literally seen you in worst conditions. Like the time you two decided to go white water rafting while on a vacation with your families. The boat tipped and you traveled about half a mile down the river before he caught you. Your knees got scrapped on rocks, so you were bleeding everywhere. You both laughed it off though, it was pretty fun if you were honest.

some tips i found helpful for living happier and healthier!!!

- stretch first thing in the morning, stretch your arms, your legs, your back, your fingers and toes

- do yoga, start with 10 minutes a day, work your way up to 30 minutes, then an hour, you will feel relaxed for the entirety of the day

- if you smoke/drink, try american spirit cigarettes and try to only drink wine. they are still not good for you (though wine can be in moderation!), but they are healthier alternatives until you kick the addiction

- drink water, for every cup of whatever else you drink, drink at least 2 cups of water

- start your showers hot, and end them cold. the hot water will relax your muscles, open your pores to be easier cleaned, and clear your sinuses. end them cold to tighten and rehydrate your skin, wake you up, and give you energy

- sing along to music, drum on your lap, hear every instrument, it will make it sound a lot better, you will appreciate it more

- go outside. this is the most important one, in my opinion. feel the sun, the wind, hear the birds, the insects, the sounds of neighbors and children, step on the grass and leaves, thank the earth for a new day

- wear light and comfortable clothes, wear cotton and denim, warm jackets and fuzzy socks

- surround yourself with good, natural scents, burn incense, rub essential oils on your skin

- remember that you are alive because you serve a purpose, whether it be to greet the mailman when he comes around, take your dog for a walk, give your lover (or friends!) a peck on the cheek, to love yourself unconditionally

- remember that self love =/= narcissism. self love is self respect, self love is treating yourself like a god/goddess. self love is looking in the mirror and appreciating who you are, appreciating the curve of your lips, the tip of your nose, the strength in your shoulders. self love is true love
