yoga for upper body strength

One movement, one breath. Slow down. Be aware of your body in this moment. Inhale. Exhale.

Roll through modified adho mukha svanasana to urdva mukha svanasana with divebomber pushups. Warm up the spine, open up the shoulders and strengthen the upper body. Adding strength to my practice.

A little bit of a body update for y'all.
I weighed myself this morning at 187.8lbs
This is the heaviest I’ve been in four years (also I’m on lady time this week so I’m hoping I’ll drop a few lbs by the weekend) anywayyy even though this is the heaviest I’ve been, my attitude towards myself is a lot different than last time. I’m embracing the body I have while I try to make it better. I tried running last week and my hip was sore for a few days so I’m gonna have to cut that out. Right now I’m gonna stick with yoga as my primary form of exercise and upper body strength training. I’m just gonna have to pray those Brazilian booty genes pull through! 🍑😏

This was long but I just wanna say that even though my body isn’t currently where I would like it to be, it’s a body. And it’s gotten me through one of the toughest years of my life.

So, thank you body. You are lovely just the way you are. ❤

Please Welcome My New BOTM, Harmony!

Harmony describes herself like this:

I am a Canadian farm wife and mom to two young boys. I have struggled with my weight since my early 20s and since 2012 I have finally been able to change habits and am learning that “dieting” is not manageable for a long and happy life. I lost 40+ lbs last year and am in the best shape I’ve been in since college.

I love running, yoga, zumba and have kicked ass at improving my upper body strength. I also enjoy crocheting, reading, gardening and Netflix.

I am mostly a positive person and can look at a situation and find the silver lining/lesson. (But I’m also human and have my moments) I believe in the power of meditation and positive energy. I believe in respect and manners and gratitude.

I have followed Harmony for several months. I picked her because she is a great example of what kind of blog I love to follow and promote here. She is a real person with a real life that is also on a fitness journey. She has good days and bad days but as she learns, she shares her journey with us.

She is also one of the most encouraging people I follow. Literally not a day goes by that I don’t “catch” her doing something creative to help, encourage and recognise her followers. She is special and gets my unqualified recommendation.

Check out her blog and follow?

Please reblog to help spread the word :)
