yes this is a new arc

anonymous asked:

Can you list the Ron moments that the movie missed our changed?... or maybe give a link to a post which already has the list.

Okay, this is going to be done from memory so bear with me.

Philosopher’s Stone

  • Ron offering to share his food with Harry from the moment they meet.
  • Ron teaching Harry how to play wizard’s chess (this is kind of in the film but not explicitly so I thought I’d include it.)
  • Staying over Christmas with Harry and trying to cheer him up after the mirror incidents (I think they did film a part of this but it was a deleted scene for some reason ??? why ???)
  • RON BEING THE CALM ONE DURING THE DEVIL’S SNARE SCENE NOT HERMIONE (’But there’s no wood!’ ‘Are you a witch or not?’)

Chamber of Secrets

  • Constantly defending Harry from Draco
  • The scene where Draco calls Hermione a mudblood and it was actually Ron who new what the term meant and explained it, not Hermione
  • Visiting Hermione in the hospital wing after she turns herself into a cat and bringing her all her homework that she missed
  • Ron going into a freaking forest full of spiders and tackling his biggest fear. Even though he was shaking the entire time and is so terrified he can’t even speak by the end of it and actually /throws up/ afterwards, he still went and did it because it needed to be done and he wasn’t about to let Harry go alone. (Okay so this was in the films but I really don’t think they actually captured the gravity of it, instead choosing to turn Ron into comic relief… Again.)
  • Being the one to go to the hospital wing so that Hermione will have someone with her so she’s not alone and to explain what happened when she wakes up

Prisoner of Azkaban

  • Actually being really concerned about Scabbers’ health and buying the rat tonic for him
  • Actual background to the Crooksanks v Scabbers business instead of just villainising Ron for the sake of making Hermione seem better
  • When he was literally woken up by Sirius holding a knife over his bed, who, as far as anyone knew then, was a mass murderer??? Why isn’t this talked about more ??
  • ‘YOU ASKED A QUESTION AND SHE KNOWS THE ANSWER, WHY ASK IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE TOLD?’
  • Noticing Hermione’s weird af schedule and being the only one to aCTUALLY CARE about where she was going and what she was doing
  • Literally fucking pushing Harry out of the way when they see Sirius in dog form (who they think is The Grim) and consequently getting a broken leg + dragged by his arm into the Whomping Willow
  • Awkwardly patting Hermione on the head after she apologises, instead of that weird hug thing they share in the films
  • Taking on Buckbeak’s appeal and dedicating so much time and effort into his case. Call this boy lazy or apathetic again I dare you.
  • Standing up on a BROKEN LEG to tell Sirius, who, again, was thought to be a MASS MURDERER, that ‘If you want to kill Harry you’ll have to kill us too!’ whilst Hermione stood frozen in the corner
  • Making peace with Crookshanks at the end of the book by holding Pigwidgeon up for him to check that he isn’t evil (I love Ron so much)

Goblet of Fire

  • ‘We’ll pick you up on Sunday if you can come, and we’ll still pick you up on Sunday if you can’t’ (or something like that) when talking about the quidditch world cup
  • The background and reasoning behind the big fight with Harry (+the later argument they had where Harry threw the badge @ his head.)
  • The actual insecurity Ron suffered because of the dress robes, not just the comic relief side of it.
  • Helping Harry practice for the second and third tasks practically 24/7 (including letting Harry practice stunning on him!!! #dedication)
  • Getting Krum to sign his autograph + basically all of hIS HUGE CRUSH ON KRUM JFC
  • Just generally being there for Harry after Cedric even when Harry pushes him away

Order of the Phoenix

  • Again, just generally being there for Harry even when Harry is being an ass to him (+ the part where Ron desperately wants to tell him what’s going on but Hermione + all the adults insists that they can’t)
  • RON WEASLEY BECOMING A MOTHERFUCKING PREFECT
  • The year of quidditch which, although being an essential part of the book with the whole Umbridge arc, is not even MENTIONED in the film. Literally, it’s one of the only films that doesn’t feature quidditch yet it’s the book where I’d consider quidditch to be the most important.
  • Anyway, yes, quidditch. Ron getting a new broom and sneaking out to practice so he can try out for the team
  • HERMIONE KISSING HIM ON THE CHEEK FOR LUCK. I SCREAM.
  • Ron making it on the team and having very very very little confidence so he’s… quite terrible the first few matches.
  • The awful ‘Weasley is Our King’ song that Malfoy made and the Slytherins take to singing at. Every. Single. Match.
  • Ron gaining his confidence and destroying the other team at quidditch, during which, neither Harry or Hermione were actually there to witness it. And Ron is so happy and proud but when Harry and Hermione start talking about Grawp, instead of being petty and angry at them, he listens intently and tries to help
  • Always backing up Harry when Hermione is being slightly insufferable towards him and not really understanding of his needs. (e.g when she’s pressuring him to do better at occlumency and Ron tells her to back off)
  • The whole arc where Arthur gets injured and all the Weasleys are sat around the kitchen at Grimmauld place waiting for news + the parts in St Mungos (this was in the film a little but they really didn’t go into the effect it had on the Weasleys. Especially Ron and Ginny)
  • The miraculous plan they all come up with to get Harry into Umbridge’s office (which, admittedly, backfires, but hey. At least they tries) during which Ron plays a pivotal role, not just a struggling character in the background
  • Everything to do with the ministry tbh ??? From battling death eaters to the spell that makes him delirious to the brain almost suffocating him
  • Staying in the hospital wing with Hermione for the rest of the year and the scars all down his arms from where the brain attacked him

Half Blood Prince

  • When Hermione is talking about why girls find Harry attractive and Ron is all like ‘Look at me Hermione! I’m tall too! I have scars too!”
  • Backing up Harry when he answers Snape’s question about inferi compared to ghosts (”Well what Harry said was the most useful! If I’m going to face an inferi I’m going to be looking for if it’s transparent not asking ‘excuse me are you the imprint of a departed soul?’” or something similar. Get wrecked Snape.)
  • All of the quidditch moments in this book are golden.
  • That moment where Hermione super awkwardly asks Ron to Slughorn’s party and Harry is just in the background like,,, what an interesting plant
  • Ginny antagonising Ron about never having kissed anyone and the subsequent Lavender disaster that followed
  • Everything to do with Lavender tbh. Like, their whole relationship, not just the comic version in the movies
  • Ron’s getting poisoned actually being a really serious thing and all his family showing up at the hospital wing
  • Pretending to be asleep when Lavender comes to visit (Ron Weasley how dare you, your mother raised you better than this)
  • Okay, I really want to make a separate post about this but the whole Luna/Ron friendship in this one is gold
  • I feel like we as a fandom collectively forget this one but Ron and the rest of the DA fighting the death eaters with felix felicis whilst Harry is up the astronomy tower with Dumbledore
  • Holding Hermione at Dumbledore’s funeral ???? Honestly that’s all I need in life
  • RON ‘WE’RE WITH YOU WHATEVER HAPPENS’ WEASLEY VOWING TO ALWAYS BE AT HARRY’S SIDE INSTEAD OF SITTING IN THE BACKGROUND LIKE A STALE POTATO WHILST HARRY AND HERMIONE PLAN

Deathly Hallows

  • Giving Harry the how to charm witches book and actively trying to start a relationship with Hermione
  • Comforting Hermione when she’s upset and not being awkward about it !!!! Character development (I’m seeing a parallel to the head pat in PoA, anyone else?)
  • Standing up to the Minister of Magic at the age of seventeen like. Honestly Ron Weasley is such a badass I love him
  • Literally giving up a life of comfort and security to go and live as a fugitive in order to help Harry
  • Pushing Hermione the fuck out of the way when they’re found by Death Eaters near Charlesbury !!! Like, this boy is so brave and self-sacrificing I’m going to cry
  • Falling asleep holding hands with Hermione @ Grimmauld place
  • The severity of his splinching after the ministry debacle
  • The very real concern for his sister and Harry + Hermione’s apparent apathy that triggers the fight between him and Harry, not some motive entirely brought about by jealousy as the movies suggest
  • Okay, not Ron, but the movies really didn’t capture just how unable Harry and Hermione became without him. They didn’t talk to each other, they didn’t communicate in any way for like 95% of his absence. They were literally unable to function without him I’m so sad.
  • Saving Harry’s life and, importantly, the conversation they had afterwards where Harry reassured him that his insecurities were unfounded. And the hug. Where was my hug,Yates? Where was it?
  • Ron once again assuming his role as the heart of the trio; making Harry laugh, keeping the spirits up, getting them to function again.
  • Malfoy Manor. Just. Malfoy Manor. “NO YOU CAN HAVE ME, TAKE ME!” “HERMIONE! HERMIONE!” Literally being so distressed and worried for Hermione that he OFFERED UP HIS OWN LIFE FOR HERS AND LOST THE ABILITY TO THINK RATIONALLY. CAn we just.
  • Even despite the mental anguish he’s going through, Ron still manages to come up with a solution for where Dobby should take them
  • Again, despite everything that’s happening around him, Ron does a near perfect imitation of Wormtail’s voice
  • Disarming Bellatrix fucking Lestrange
  • Managing to successfully apparate for the first time ever in a very high pressure situation in order to get Hermione to safety
  • Taking his shoes and socks off to lay on Dobby’s grave
  • Going back to Hogwarts and the reunion with the rest of his family; including Percy, which I really missed from the books
  • Literally like everything that happened during the battle of Hogwarts but especially:
  • “We’ve forgotten someone!” “Who?” “The house elves!” Like, guys, this is such a significant moment for his character and I understand completely why Hermione chooses this moment to kiss him
  • How wrecked he was after Fred’s death. Like, in the books Ron is actually there to witness it. He sees his brother die. I am Not okay.
  • Hermione having to physically restrain him because he wants to go and get revenge for Fred
  • Ron punching Draco in his slimy little face “And that’s the second time we’ve saved your life tonight you two-faced bastard!”
  • Offering to be the one to go to the shrieking shack ?? ALone ?? He says something like ‘Harry you can’t go un case they see you, wait here with Hermione, and I’ll take the cloak and-” when they all know it could be a suicide mission. I’m.
  • BREAKING VOLDEMORT’S SILENCING SPELL
  • I’m sorry let me just re-iterate: RONALD WEASLEY BROKE A SILENCING SPELL MADE BY ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL WIZARDS TO EVER EXIST
  • Taking out Fenrir Greyback with Neville
  • Being the first to reach Harry after he defeated Voldemort, along with Hermione
  • Just the part where the trio go to Dumbledore’s office because I just. That’s such a nice and well rounded ending I’m going to cry
  • In the epilogue, practically everything about Ron is great but especially: “Don’t worry, it’s me, I’m famous”

In Conclusion

  • I love Ron Weasley so much
  • The films do not do him justice

Ben had a Yellow Kyber Crystal

In TFA script it is described as

We know that Kyber Crystals Bleed if they are bent to the will of a Darkside user. Kylo is not all dark nor all light. I am willing to bet money Ben’s crystal was once all yellow.

Adam driver even said the crystal is unstable just like Kylo. It’s a metaphor.

What if his crystal split in his original lightsaber prompting him to build a new one with the vents to help stabilize his kyber. Just as he would need to build a new identity for himself as Kylo Ren, crude and unfinished.

What is more important about the color yellow is that it was primarily used for the Jedi Temple Guards. Couple that with Kylo’s knight like design you get a man on a crusade. A Knight who right now has been corrupted in his duty.

Ashoka purified her blades to white after taking them from a dark side user. Could Ben’s return to yellow in the end if he is redeemed and stabilize? This would be a beautiful choice of visual storytelling if they go this route. It matches his cross guard hilt perfectly. I hope so I want his to be yellow.

PS Yes I realize that the script could have just been describing the color to show its fiery nature but if they weren’t that’s a huge clue. Fun speculation though.

yells for the people in the back

“season 2” of the seven deadly sins on netflix is NOT season 2….it’s just a little special thing. yes, there will indeed be a real season 2 but we don’t know when…that being said, please still watch the new episodes. they’re super cute and set up some of the exposition for the next story arc

It really seriously bothers me when I see posts referring to “Princess Leia” and then people reblog them to say “GENERAL****” as though this is an important correction. As though Leia’s identity as a princess is either somehow inherently bad or is in anyway inferior to her position as a general. I don’t think people understand that Leia had MORE POWER as a princess than she does as a general. First of all, Leia as a princess was never some damsel in distress, sitting pretty, waiting for her Prince Charming type of situation. As Princess of Alderaan, Leia was had the advantage of extensive cultural and diplomatic training and used her position and connections and political savvy to become a Senator and therefore a SPY, looking out for the interests not only of her Alderaanian subjects but also of the entire galaxy. Her title of Princess is crucial in regards to her character, even now just reading the new CANON comics, insofar as Alderaan is an integral aspect of who she is–not only an Alderaanian, but the person who felt RESPONSIBLE for the safety of the planet. Then after her home planet was obliterated right before her eyes, she continued on to use her knowledge and skills and political leverage–none of which she would have had if she hadn’t been adopted into a royal house–to aid the rebellion, and her title as “princess” allowed her to become a symbol of resistance and rebellion against tyranny across the entire galaxy. She was a SPY PRINCESS, A WARRIOR PRINCESS, A POLITICAL PRINCESS, and every other kind of princess you could imagine. Leia as a princess is badass, and not something to be snidely dismissed with ignorant assertions that being a general is better and more “feminist” just because it’s a title traditionally held by men. In reality, the situation is entirely the reverse. Leia has no authority as a General other than over her own troops in a resistance that’s not even fully supported by the government that Leia herself helped to establish AS A PRINCESS. The New Republic didn’t take Leia’s warnings about the First Order seriously and LOOK WHERE THAT LANDED THEM. And the sway and renown that is still shown to Leia in the new canon is STILL linked to her royal status, not just because she was a princess but because of what she DID as a princess. That’s why we get the line “well to me she’s royalty.” Disney slapped the title of General on Leia hoping that fans would rally to this feminist progress while at the same time propagating the idea that she couldn’t possibly have been a present mother or wife while also succeeding in a political career, ignoring her OT character arc, destroying her family for no other reason than to create Kylo Ren, and undermined her credibility in the new system. I don’t see any feminism in those regressions. Does Leia deserve to be a general? Yes, of course. But can we please stop acting like this is some kind of upgrade? Being a Princess was central to Leia’s character, and NEVER was this fact in any way a disadvantage to her. She was both graceful and polished and vulnerable and strong and determined and lethal. She was the “strong female character” that girls could look up to, and I personally see nothing to turn your nose up about fierce, intelligent, brave PRINCESS Leia Organa.

Honestly every time I think about the 90s Dream and Stars I just…

like, look, there were a lot of decisions made in the 90s that were pretty WTF. Basically just forgetting to give the Dark Kingdom any motivation or backstory, especially forgetting to include the backstory for the shittenou, relegating Sailor Pluto’s role in her introductory season to that of basically a breathing “Do Not Enter” sign and not giving her?? ANYTHING?? to do???

But the decisions made for Dream and Stars seem like active financial sabotage sometimes.

Like, hi, I’m Naoko Takeuchi. You want to make merch of my story?

Here, have four new asteroid senshi for you to sell dolls, transformation items, and merch of.

Or you could just cut them, wtf.

Here, have a whole new set of crystals to sell alongside the Silver Crystal. One for each senshi and Tuxedo Mask!

Or, okay, skip that too, I guess. It’s definitely not going to become relevant in the next arc. Oops, wait, yes it is, my bad.

Speaking of new action figures and dolls, here’s human forms for all of the cats!

OR NOT. Okay…

Well, I made this thing called the “Holy Moon Chalice” as an upgrade to the holy grail that… oh, you’re not even listening.

Fine, you said you want new senshi for dolls! Here’s new senshi! So many new senshi! Look at this one, she’s a   l i t e r a l   b u t t e r f l y!

You skipped her? She was an important part of the journey into the Galaxy C- YOU CUT THE EPIC FINAL BATTLE IN THE HEART OF SPACE?

Well, you at least included my beautifully designed enigmatically mysterious final Sailor Senshi, right? Have you seen her? Have you seen how pretty she is? How compellingly vague and enticingly incomplete her story is? Look at her!

WHAT  DO YOU MEAN ‘UNNAMED SILHOUETTE’?

i don’t know if this is a nitpick or just me dumping my thoughts or whatever but like…i really miss grumpy peridot. don’t get me wrong, i definitely adore her curiosity and growing sense of empathy! but i feel like this aspect could still be retained along with her making snarky comments and stuff; it was pretty charming and a significant part of her personality prior.

like, what happened to her yelling/grumbling incoherently at the old homeworld tech for not working properly in friend ship? or like, hissing at steven when he said to stop calling him “the steven” and then accepting it at the end, but begrudingly/while scowling. and the whole snarky “wow, you’re a realll anarchist” thing when steven fell asleep in super watermelon island? and as cursed and botched-up of an episode as gem harvest was, at least she had lines like “now it’s actually good for something” while sharing this glance with pearl

it’s weird, really, how, say, room for ruby peridot or beta pt 1 peridot seems like a whole other peridot compared to this one who has a snarky side to her. yes, i understand that characters can have different facets and aspects to their personality. perhaps it can be argued that peridot has “grown as a character” which is why she is less snarky/grumpy in general but i dont think that should, you know, stunt her intelligence/observational skills as well. she seems more oblivious/faux happy than genuinely happy as of now, case in point being room for ruby.

peridot’s extremely observant. like, this isn’t (wasn’t??) even a subtle trait of her personality. picking up on steven calling clothing “shirts” in catch and release and using it later on, giving a detailed inspection of jasper’s hole in beta, pretty much the entire camp pining hearts sequence in log date, etc.

lapis caught onto navy faking her love for earth in room for ruby, which is, yeah, understandable. but wasn’t it peridot who had an entire arc dedicated to how difficult it was for her to adjust to earth? she seemed so gullible, immediately going “new barnie!” (yes, that’s an actual line from the episode not an exaggeration) instead of expressing any concerns.

once again, yeah, maybe it can be argued that she’s trying to be as accepting to navy as steven was to her, but even in the course of redemption, peridot underwent stuff like being tied on a leash, and steven didn’t object or anything (and it’s not like steven hasn’t objected to garnet before, case in point being not giving garnet the mirror in mirror gem and unbubbling peridot without asking in catch and release); he knew she still wasn’t on their side, and that the cluster truce was, for all anyone knew, temporary. he took precautions. it’s not above peridot to do so as well, and peridot especially, considering her prior characterization.

i’m all for peridot growing as a character, learning her capacity for compassion, and having moments where she is genuinely happy, but right now it just seems like this…hollow sort of “happy” that doesn’t mesh with her personality.

About Natsu's (lack of) character arc

So, there are a lot of posts criticizing Fairy Tail thanks to this recent arc. I’m sure there’s someone out there talking about this exact same issue, but I admit I haven’t found that person yet… And in any case, I want to say my own piece about this subject. It’s been awhile since I wrote some sort of analysis here, but this is probably going to be long anyway.

I want to clarify something: I’m trying to be objective here. While my opinions and tastes will show up, what I’m going to focus here is on writing and structure. I want to talk about why Mashima’s writing is so ineffective lately, and why so many people call Natsu a Mary Sue or plainly dislike him. I’m not here to defend Natsu; I love him, sure, but he’s been a victim of terrible, awful writing. I 100% understand why people dislike him or even hate him. They have VERY good reasons to do so. What I want to do is explain why this happens.

Alright, now let’s start.

→ Inability to change.

At the start of the latest time skip I saw the first sign that I should drop any tiny bit of hope that I had for Natsu’s character. I was stupid and I kept that hope alive, sadly, but I really should’ve seen it coming.

Remember when he came back of the one-year-trip he took after Igneel’s death? How he had his long hair, and many people wanted him to keep it that way, but in the next chapter he came back to his usual look?

It may seem silly, but to me this was a sign of a bigger problem. Usually, when there’s a time skip it’s expected that character designs change. Not only because it keeps things interesting, but also because people change with time. A change in design tends to reflect this. And I know it sounds stupid to worry about something so “insignificant”, but remember: manga is a visual medium just as much as it is a written one. Visual elements are as important here to tell the story as any other. For example: Lucy, the character who’s allowed to change the most throughout the story, gets a slight change in her design after this time skip. By contrast, Natsu doesn’t.

Following that small sign, we discover that Natsu’s personality hasn’t changed. Like, at all. A year has passed, and he hasn’t changed. Worse than that: He lost Igneel. And. He. Hasn’t. Changed. At. All.

Natsu’s motivation was established in the beginning of the manga: He wanted to find his adoptive father, Igneel, after he disappeared 7 years prior to the start of the story. That motivation was fulfilled in the Tartaros’ arc, followed by Igneel’s death. In one day, Natsu fulfilled a dream he spent seven years (or fourteen, I guess) pursuing… and then he had to see one of his worst fears come true. This is a pretty big thing for any person, but it’s also the culmination for a character arc. The character is at his lowest point, so he’s forced to grow in some way (whether it’s positive or negative).

But… we don’t see Natsu grow. Sure, we see him grieve for… a couple of panels, but that’s all. The chapter before the time skip, we see Natsu smiling and barely reacting to what happened, besides deciding that he has to become stronger.

We don’t get much insight into him. And after that? A year passes and we don’t get to see Natsu’s struggles or his process of growth. What’s worse: when he comes back, he’s acting like he always acted. And there’s no insight that shows us that no, he changed, he’s just ACTING. We have nothing like that, he just… got better. And we don’t get to see it.

Look, this isn’t about his coping mechanisms or anything. It’s not about whether a person, in real life, can go through a situation like that and appear unchanged by all that happened. No, this is about the writing choices made for a character being utterly ineffective and incompetent. It’s not like we need much, honestly. We don’t need to have Natsu ranting in his thoughts about all the suffering he went through and how he changed. Small changes would’ve been enough. Maybe having Natsu smiling less, or showing sad smiles. Or maybe have him lose some of his will for fighting, at least when it comes to the reckless fights he does for fun. Those things are small, but they are effective.

But, what is Natsu’s character arc anyway? What did Mashima intend for him at the beginning of the story (or what he seemed to intend)? In my opinion, there are two major themes to what should’ve been Natsu’s character arc: Choosing between Igneel and Fairy Tail, and learning to deal with loss. Both of these themes should’ve culminated at the end of the Tartaros arc, but Mashima accidentally destroyed all the moments that lead to this.

A. MALCOLM
PRINTER and BOOKSELLER

I stretched out my hand and touched the black letters of the name. A. Malcolm. Alexander Malcolm. James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser. Perhaps.

Another minute, and I would lose my nerve. I shoved open the door and walked in.

There was a broad counter across the front of the room, with an open flap in it, and a rack to one side that held several trays of type. Posters and notices of all sorts were tracked up on the opposite wall; samples, no doubt.

The door into the back room was open, showing the bulky angular frame of a printing press. Bent over it, his back turned to me, was Jamie.

“Is that you, Geordie?” he asked, not turning around. He was dressed in shirt and breeches, and had a small tool of some kind in his hand, with which he was doing something to the innards of the press. “Took ye long enough. Did ye get the–”

“It isn’t Geordie,” I said. My voice was higher than usual. “It’s me,” I said. “Claire.”

He straightened up very slowly. He wore his hair long; a thick tail of a deep, rich auburn sparked with copper. I had time to see that the neat ribbon that tied it back was green, and then he turned around.

He stared at me without speaking. A tenor ran down the muscular throat as he swallowed, but still he didn’t say anything.

It was the same broad, good-humored face, dark blue eyes aslant the high, flat cheekbones of a Viking, long mouth curling at the ends as though always on the verge of smiling. The line surrounding eyes and mouth were deeper, of course. The nose had changed just a bit. The knife-edge bridge was slightly thickened near the base by the ridge of an old, healed fracture. It made him look fiercer, I thought, but lessened the air of aloof reserve, and lent his appearance a new rough charm.

I walked through the flap in the counter flap, seeing nothing but that unblinking stare. I cleared my throat.

“When did you break your nose?”

The corners of the wide mouth lifted slightly.

“About three minutes after I last saw ye – Sassenach.”

There was a hesitation, almost a question in the name. There was no more than a foot between us. I reached out tentatively and touched the tiny line of the break, where the bone pressed white against the bronze of his skin.

He flinched backward as though an electric spark had arced between us, and the calm expression shattered.

“You’re real,” he whispered. I had thought him pale already. Now all vestiges of color drained from his face. His eyes rolled up and he slumped to the floor in a shower of papers and oddments that had been sitting on the press – he fell rather gracefully for such a large man, I thought abstractedly.

It was only a faint; his eyelids were beginning to flutter by the time I knelt beside him and loosened the stock at his throat. I had no doubts at all by now, but still I looked automatically as I pulled the heavy linen away. It was there, of course, the small triangular scar just above the collarbone, left by the knife of Captain Jonathan Randall, Esquire, of his Majesty’s Eighth Dragoons.

His normal healthy color was returning. I sat cross-legged on the floor and hoisted his head onto my thigh. His hair felt thick and soft in my hand. His eyes opened.

“That bad, is it?” I said, smiling down at him with the same words he had used to me on the day of our wedding, holding my head in his lap, twenty-odd years before.

“That bad, and worse, Sassenach,” he answered, mouth twitching with something almost a smile. He sat up abruptly, staring at me.

“God in heaven, you are real!”

“So are you.” I lifted my chin to look up at him. “I th-thought you were dead.” I had meant to speak lightly, but my voice betrayed me. The tears spilled down my cheeks, only to soak into the rough cloth of his shirt as he pilled me hard against him.

I shook so that it was some time before I realized that he was shaking, too, and for the same reason. I don’t know how long we sat there on the dusty floor, crying in each other’s arms with the longing of twenty years spilling down our faces.

His fingers twined hard in my hair, pulling it loose so that it tumbled down my neck. The dislodged pins cascaded over my shoulders and pinged on the floor like pellets of hail. My own fingers were clasped around his forearm, digging into the linen as though I were afraid he would disappear unless physically restrained.

As though gripped by the same fear, he suddenly grasped me by the shoulders and held me away from him, staring desperately into my face. he put his hand to my cheek, and traced the bones over and over again, oblivious to my tears and to my abundantly running nose.

I sniffed loudly, which seemed to bring him to his senses, for he let go and groped hastily in his sleeve for a handkerchief, which he used clumsily to swab at first at my face, then his own.

“Give me that.” I grabbed the erratically waving swatch of cloth and blew my nose firmly. “Now you.” I handed him the cloth and watched as he blew his nose with a noise like a strangled goose. I giggled, undone with emotion.

He smiled too, knuckling the tears away from his eyes, unable to stop staring at me.

Suddenly I couldn’t bear not touching him. I lunged at him, and he got his arms up just in time to catch me. I squeezed until I could hear his ribs crack, and felt his hands roughly caressing my back as he said my name over and over.

At last I could let go, and sat back a little. He glanced down at the floor between his legs, frowning.

“Did you lose something?” I asked, surprised.

He looked up and smiled, a little shyly.

“I was afraid I’d lost hold altogether and pissed myself, but it’s all right. I’ve just sat on the alepot.”

Sure enough, a pool of aromatic brown liquid was spreading slowly beneath him. With a squeak of alarm, I scrambled to my feet and helped him up. After trying vainly to assess the damage behind, he shrugged and unfastened his breeches. He pushed the tight fabric down over his haunches, then stopped and looked at me, blushing slightly.

“It’s all right,” I said, feeling a rich blush stain my own cheeks. “We’re married.” I cast my eyes down, nonetheless, feeling a little breathless. “At least, I suppose we are.”

He stared at me for a long moment, then a smile curved his wide, soft mouth.

“Aye, we are,” he said. Kicking free of the stained breeches, he stepped toward me.

I stretched out a hand toward him, as much to stop as to welcome him. I wanted more than anything to touch him again, but was unaccountably shy. After so long, how were we to start again?

He felt the constraint of mingled shyness and intimacy as well. Stopping a few inches from me, he took my hand. He hesitated for a moment, then bent his head over it, his lips barely brushing my knuckles. His fingers touched the silver ring and stopped there, holding the metal lightly between thumb and forefinger.

“I never took it off,” I blurted. It seemed important he should know that. He squeezed my hand lightly, but he didn’t let go.

“I want–” He stopped and swallowed, still holding my hand. His fingers found and touched the silver ring once more. “I want verra much to kiss you,” he said softly. “May I do that?”

The tears were barely dammed. Two more welled up and overflowed; I felt them, full and round, roll down my cheeks.

“Yes,” I whispered.

He drew me slowly close to him, holding our linked hands just under his breast.

“I havena done this for a verra long time,” he said. I saw the hope and the fear dark in the blue of his eyes. I took the gift and gave it back to him.

“Neither have I,” I said softly.

His hands cupped my face with exquisite gentleness, and he set his mouth on mine.

I didn’t know quite what I had been expecting. A reprise of the pounding fury that had accompanied our final parting? I had remembered that so often, lived it over in memory, helpless to change the outcome. The half-rough, timeless hours of mutual possession in the darkness of our marriage bed? I had longed for that, wakened often sweating and trembling from the memory of it.

But we were strangers now, barely touching, each seeking the way toward joining, slowly, tentatively, seeking and giving unspoken permission with our silent lips. My eyes were closed, and I knew without looking that Jamie’s were, as well. We were, quite simply, afraid to look at each other.

Without raising his head, he began to stroke me lightly, feeling my bones through my clothes, familiarizing himself again with the terrain of my body. At last his hand t raveled down my arm and caught my right hand. His fingers traced my hand until the found the ring again, and circled it, feeling the interlaced silver of the Highland pattern, polished with long wear, but still distinct.

His lips moved over mind, across my cheeks and eyes. I gently stroked his back, feeling through his shirt the marks I couldn’t see, the remnants of old scars, like my ring, worn but still distinct.

“I’ve seen ye so many times,” he said, his voice whispering warm in my ear. “You’ve come to me so often. When I dreamed sometimes. When I lay in fever. When I was so afraid and so lonely I knew I must die. When I needed you, I would always see ye, smiling, with your hair curling up about your face. But ye never spoke. And ye never touched me.”

“I can touch you now.” I reached up and drew my hand gently down his temple, his ear, the cheek and jaw that I could see. My hand went to the nape of his neck, under the clubbed bronze hair, and he raised his head at last, and cupped my face between my hands, love glowing strong in the dark blue eyes.

Dinna be afraid,” he said softly. “There’s the t w o  of  u s  now.”

~ Voyager, Chapter 24, “A. Malcolm, Printer”

That’s it I’m done playing nice. You bitches want war you can have it!

Stop whining about Mon-El and Karamel, because guess what? IT’S PART OF KARA’S STORY ARC IN THE COMICS!!! YOU CAME INTO THIS FANDOM KNOWING THE SHOW WOULD FOLLOW THE COMICS TO AT LEAST MOST EXTENT. So you DON’T get to complain. And like many others have pointed out, if it wasn’t Mon-El it would have been Brainiac she’d be with! That’s CANON! Kara is not going to be with Lena, it’s not gonna happen, Lena is a villain in the comics! Get over it, that’s CANON! Kara is not going to be with James, he is not with him in the comics! Get over it, that’s CANON! (And yes i agree the writers shouldn’t have started something between those two if they weren’t intending to follow up but that’s not an excuse to hate on Mon-El or Karamel, but the writers)

I’m done people being entitled little bitches and having the AUDACITY to DEMAND we change a whole comic universe to cater the show to suit your fanfiction! I’m NOT having that again! YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FANDOM! I’ve had that happen to so many other shows that I loved, where a part of the fandom destroyed the show for the rest of us because they were entitled!

You bitches moan about Mon-El being a white frat boy but he’s been nothing but sweet and NOT abusive like some of you claim (like where did that even come from? And as someone who’s been through shit like that YOU DON’T TAKE TERMS LIKE THIS LIGHTLY!) You’re just salty he’s in the way of your non-existent, NON-CANON ships! You call us homophobic and racist because we ship a ship that is CANON in the comics and don’t ship your little fanfics! You do realize the show is called Supergirl and it’s about a high middle class white girl that looks like barbie and is by no means a saint right? I could sit here and call Superc*rp racist because you’d rather see Kara with a rich privileged white woman (who by the way believes humans ‘have a right to know if their neighbor is an alien’) instead of a black man. Or i could say that Kar*lsen is homophobic because they don’t want to see Kara with a woman.

But nooooo it’s just us for shipping the canon ship. Like you do realize a big part of the Karamel fandom also ships Sanvers or Winn x James and is LGBT+ & non-white right? So stop ASSUMING we’re all straight white people not wanting to see progressive material on screen. We ship chemistry nothing else! I’ve honestly never encountered a fandom this disgusting and abusive, you guys make me sick! You are making it so hard for us to enjoy the show and many of us have said it’s too much negativity and that it’s no longer fun to watch or be a part of the fandom or that it’s weighing us down emotionally. You people are bullies and nothing else, because the moment you start abusing someone else because they enjoy something you don’t then you’ve become monsters! You can choke!

Also, stop pretending like Supergirl is some super progressive piece of entertainment or that Kara is somehow a super progressive feminist icon, because at the end of the day she’s still a privileged white girl and by no means representing the diversity of women AND YOU WALKED INTO THE SHOW KNOWING THAT! Shows like Orange is the New Black, Eyewitness, Shadowhunters etc. are way more progressive than your precious Supergirl will ever be. Yes, Supergirl will not follow everything from the comics since they’re like a dozen AU’s but you CANNOT DEMAND they change whole story arcs to suit you, specifically wipe out a PRIMARY character like Mon-El/Superboy out of existence just because! Mon-El wasn’t kidding or exaggerating when he said he’s ‘The Other Superman’, in the comics Superman is his mentor and Clark uses him as a substitute when he’s not around to save the city! Yes i know some of you will say ‘but there are lots of AU’s’ and yes Kara is not with him in all AU’s, but guess what? Your fanfics DON’T EXIST IN ANY AU! Kara is not only with Mon-El because she loves him (yes that’s also canon, you mad?) but because their stories are linked due to the history Daxam and Krypton have. Again you would know that if you were following the story. So Karamel SERVES as a key plot point and not just a ship.

You say Mon-El destroyed everything but guess what? Some us actually came into this God-forsaken fandom because of Mon-El/Chris Wood. And the ratings have been fairly steady to say the least, so no you cannot say he’s ruining the show.

Also the very fact that you assholes are sending Chris hate is absolutely despicable and disgusting. You can hate on Mon-El all you want (like I said in your own fucking tags!) but YOU DO NOT SEND CHRIS HATE! Chris is nothing but a sweetheart, he’s an activist, and outspoken about issues that matter like women’s rights, and BLM, even having started his own organisation for mental health issues and you would know that if you weren’t so far up your asses! But even if he wasn’t all those things YOU DO NOT SEND THE ACTORS HATE. Like,  am I supposed to send hate to Iwan Rheon or Jack Gleeson from GOT for playing homicidal, psychopaths that rape women? NO! Because unlike you some of us are not bratty little children and can tell the difference between TV and real life.

SO STOP! I’M DONE BEING NICE! RANT OVER! I’M OUT!

Zimbits Battle of the Blades AU

so. well. Y’all remember this post? About a Canadian TV show that makes hockey players learn how to do pairs routines with figure skaters? It’s Jack and Bitty now. Leggo.

  • It’s a year or two after Bitty graduates from Samwell. He won the Frozen Four in his Senior Year, and Jack has a Calder trophy and Stanley Cup win under his belt. They are both publicly out, but they’ve kept their status as a couple lowkey for now.
  • The execs in charge of Battle of the Blades decide they need a new gimmick to increase ratings. Enter: Queers!!! On Ice!
  • They want one F/F and one M/M pair of skaters, in addition to the regular straight couples. It’s easy enough to find female skaters willing to pretend to have a gal pal, and the NWHL has several out queer players, and yet…
  • The producers can literally find no male hockey players or figure skaters who are a) available, b) notable public figures, and c) willing to spend months within inches of another man at all times, except for Jack and Bitty. Fuck it, the producers decide, and make some calls.
  • Cue the Intense Relationship Discussion.
  • Bitty would love to figure skate again, and Jack thinks the cross-conditioning sounds like a good idea, but both of them have reservations about the public scrutiny this will put their relationship under.
  • Enter George with a life-saving idea: what if they announced their relationship via the show? They’d have to pretend to just be good friends early on, but then Jack could gradually dial up the heart eyes and Bitty could stop self-censoring, and by the end of the show they would have “started dating.”
  • The two of them agree to George’s proposal and filming starts.
  • All the hockey players are sent out on the rink in hockey skates first, and Bitty pulls off a flawless double axel the second he gets on the ice. “Dear me, I must have forgotten which skates I’m wearing!”
  • Jack Zimmermann, hockey god, falls flat on his face the second he puts on figure skates. He and Bitty unintentionally recreate the “Toepick!” scene from The Cutting Edge at least twice.
  • Lift training is a total wash. Half of it is unintentional flirting- “Yes, Mr Zimmermann, your hand is supposed to go on my butt.” “I see you’ve been keeping up with your squats, Bittle.”- and the other half is Jack screwing up and Bitty nearly dying, as per canon.
  • The judges are always commenting on what great chemistry the two of them have, probably because they were linemates back in the day, right? “Well,” says Jack, “we’re a team.”
  • Dear lord the interview segments are ridiculous.
  • Half the time, Bitty’s explaining some bullshit heteronormative requirement of pairs skating, and the other half he’s slowly but surely unloading Jack Feels™ onto the audience.
    • “Rule number one, never fall for a teammate.”
  • Meanwhile, Jack isn’t even bothering to hide his crush on Bitty/Bittle/my partner/Eric- what he calls him depends on how adoring he is at the moment.
    • “Jaw-dropping. Awe-inspiring, the best thing that’s ever happened to me… wait, this was supposed to be about the Stanley Cup win, not being on Bittle’s line? Yeah, that was nice too.”
  • Around Week 4, the entire nation of Canada needs to know- are they partners, or are they partners?
  • Every. Single. Song. fits the dramatic arc of their “new relationship.” Canadian hits? “Stop Desire,” Tegan and Sara. 80s week? “How Will I Know,” Whitney Houston. Hollywood? “I’ll Cover You,” RENT.
  • They get to the finale on the combined strength of Jack’s cheekbones and Bitty’s media savvy. Ransom sends them updates on his family’s latest adoring comments.
  • Of fucking course their last skate is to “Halo.” What is this, amateur hour?
  • Of fucking course they win. What is this, Yuri On Ice?
    • Yes this headcanon was 37% inspired by the fucking Episode 12 pair skate but that’s a whole other kettle of fish
  • When Jack hears they’ve won, in the “heat of the moment,” (read: in a carefully choreographed move endorsed by George months ago) he sweeps Bitty into a show-stopper of a kiss.
  • The nation of Canada gets a little weak at the knees.
  • “So, yeah!” Bitty announces in his last interview segment, post-win. “Me and Jack are dating!”
  • This is getting super long but then they’re a public couple and they donate the money they won to You Can Play and the SMH Squad hosts viewing parties for every episode, thank you for your time.
Historical Consciousness in Fallout: New Vegas

Buckle up, this is a long post (~2800 words). Will probably go back and do some editing later.

In 1997, Interplay Entertainment’s subsidiary Black Isles released a small videogame called Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, and released a follow-up the next year in Fallout 2. Black Isles hasn’t existed for years, not since Interplay’s financial troubles (which also forced the company to sell the rights to the Fallout series in 2006 to Bethesda Softworks), but the core membership of Black Isles (including Fallout 2 directors Tim Cain and Chris Avellone) founded a new development company called Obsidian, which you may be familiar with.

In 2008, Bethesda published Fallout 3, transforming the originally grid- and turn-based combat isometric into a 3D, first-person camera format much like Bethesda’s other flagship series, The Elder Scrolls. In 2010, presumably because Bethesda was busy developing Skyrim, Obsidian released a gaiden game called Fallout: New Vegas, set in the Mojave Wasteland (where parts of Fallout 1 and 2 take place), featuring many elements from Black Isles’ planned Fallout: Van Buren as well as a number of factions from the original isometric games.

Supergirl Editorial

So I’m a writer, I’ve written fanfiction, I’ve written short stories, I’ve written poems, I’ve written scripts, I’ve done a lot of writing. I’ve done enough writing to know that what they’re doing on Supergirl this season, well let’s just say, it’s been missing a few marks. Look, I just have one question for the writers of this show, just one. What’s going on with you guys this season? I mean truly, what is going on? Last season was strong in character development, action, good storytelling, and it seems that a few of those things are lacking this season. Let’s start with a certain new character who goes by the name Mon-El. Now before I get started, I want to make one thing perfectly clear, I actually really like Mon-El, I am not even joking. I think he’s fun, he has a good sense of humor, Chris Wood is clearly having a blast playing him, and his positive attitude is freaking contagious. Yes he was a jackass in the beginning, but he’s coming around. Not only that, I think his story arc is really interesting, I’m curious to learn about his past, whether or not he’s the prince, and I’d actually like to see him develop his powers and become more like his comic book counterpart. However, all of this seems to be taking second banana to a romantic story arc that is forced, not entertaining, done with actors that have zero romantic chemistry, and something that literally a huge majority of the fans don’t want. But here’s my problem, with it. Well I have a lot of problems with it, but let’s just go with the basic. It lends absolutely nothing to the overall story. And as a writer, that really bugs me. You give us the potential for a fun and great character, a character who could actually have a future on these shows, and you turn him into the arrowverse equivalent of Mary-Jane from the Sam Rami Spider-Man movies. Oh that’s right, I went there. A romance based on some “Dude-bro” guilt tripping a girl into liking him is not only a terrible plot point, but a pointless one at that. Now on the other hand, maybe making them a non healthy relationship is the idea, which if that’s the case, ok, but you’re giving us no reason to think that. For example, in season six of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy sleeping with Spike was purposely meant to be a destructive relationship. It was meant to show how Buffy hated being back on Earth and how she was using Spike to help quench these feelings. And it was very clearly meant to be non healthy. Here, it’s just “oh Kara’s friends are all abandoning her and she feels lonely (Which by the way, Alex ditching Kara on her birthday? Really guys? Really?) and Mon-El is the only one who is there to comfort her”, I mean give me a break. And as I stated before, Melissa and Chris have absolutely no romantic chemistry, they have great friendship chemistry, hell they even have a bit of sibling chemistry, but no romantic chemistry. Which brings us to another topic (yea you all knew this was coming), let’s discuss another new character who goes by the name Lena Luthor. Here is a character who is interesting, complex, well written, well acted, and who has flaming hot chemistry with Kara. Now please, writers, please explain to me why we can’t have Kara and Lena together? Cause of Alex and Maggie? It’d be too much to have two lesbian couples on one show? Come on, its 20freaking17. Same sex couples on tv shows are not as taboo as they used to be. Now one could make the argument that they’ve already had one coming out story, and two could be redundant, ok, a fair point. But remember what Mon-El said last episode? How Daxamites didn’t care about sexuality? Who says the same can’t be said for Kryptonians? Hell, you could just have Kara and Lena get together, and when she announces it, everyone being confused about her liking girls all of a sudden, that could actually be really funny. Or if you prefer the dramatic way, Kara being inspired by Alex to question her own sexuality as well could be good, as well as believable for Kara as a character, given the bond that her and Alex share. And I’m sure there are quite a few other ways you could do it. All I know is, it would probably be a lot better than the current romantic arc you have for her at the moment. Also, I don’t think we can talk about Lena without bringing up the giant elephant in the room that is the supposed “spoilers” for 2x15. I’m gonna be blunt, I don’t know if these rumors are true or not, but if they are, I got a few words. First of all, if Lena really does become a villain all of a sudden, it will just be plain stupid. Not only stupid, but lazy as well. If you write her entire arc on her trying to be better than her family name, and prove that not all Luthors are evil, then have her just become the villain randomly, that is not interesting character development. And I’m perfectly aware of the fact that it wouldn’t be the first time a good guy was really the villain the whole time in these shows. But here’s the thing (SPOILER ALERT for those of you who haven’t seen The Flash) Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon were pretending to be people they weren’t (Harrison Welles and Jay Garrick), and they are established villains in the comics. Lena Luthor is not a villain in the comics. Nor was she in Smallville (SPOILER ALERT for those who haven’t seen Smallville). Yes for those who remember, Tess Mercer was in fact Lena Luthor. Now she was unbelievably shady and sinister as all get out, but in the end, she was still one the good guys, she was loyal to Clark and everybody to the very end. So making her a villain would not only be stupid and lazy, but it also wouldn’t make any sense. I also read somewhere that the idea of Kara and Mon-El is that they’re supposed to be “Star crossed lovers”, I’m sorry but nothing would be more star crossed than a Super and a Luthor, even you guys have to admit that. I’ll say this, there are only two ways I can think of, that maybe, just maybe, you can make Lena a villain to where we might buy it. You could either make her the villain for the rest of the season (which given the fact that Kevin Sorbo and Teri Hatcher are looking to be the villains this season, I doubt that’ll happen) or make her descent into villainy expand over the course of seasons, like Lex in Smallville or Morgana in Merlin. So basically, making her a villain and just killing her off would be one of the single most moronic moves you guys could even think of pulling. I’ve had people tell me that it’s not the writers jobs to please the fans, a notion to which I respectfully disagree. When the writers continually write what the majority of the fans don’t want, they will stop watching, the numbers will drop, and the show will get canceled. If they do give what the fans what they want, they will watch, the ratings will climb, the show will stay, and you will make money, it’s literally that simple. And you know what? The majority of the fans want Supercorp, I know there is a percentage that do want Karamel, and I don’t mean to sound like a prick, I really don’t, but Supercorp fans vastly outnumber Karamel fans, and the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I hate to say it, but guys, if you look at the chart, it’s pretty clear. And like I said before, I don’t even know if these rumors are true. And if I’m wrong, cool, this post will be irrelevant. We’ll watch the show, peacefully, quietly, we’ll enjoy it. But if I’m right, you will not only lose respect from me as both a fan and as a writer, but you will lose respect from quite a large amount of fans as well. So please, we’re begging you here. These plot lines are a total mess and they are not hard to fix. Hell, why don’t you reach out to the fans for advice? I’ve seen plenty of fan fiction plot lines that are better than the current ones. I mean the fans already know what they want, giving it to them is not that complicated. I love Supergirl so much, it’s become one of my favorite tv shows ever, please don’t let some stupid, very easily avoidable, romance plot line ruin it. This has been an editorial from That Writer Guy. Hope you enjoyed.

anonymous asked:

Loved your statement that Luna's turn in itself makes sense but that the writers ruined everything about it. They needed a villain and it's so sad that they used her for that.

I’ll keep my answer short.

This has become quite the sensitive talk for me, especially because my disappointment is so fresh when it comes to this, but yes… It is more than sad to see that the “last minute” villain turned out to be Luna - a character who had such a promising character construction that felt completely new to this show.

What I am pretty upset about is that her shift into darkness in itself really makes sense, given that her story line always suggested that she would indeed snap at some point (they could’ve have gone for a very complex character arc, or even death that would actually fit her story line and close it up in a way that feels real), but instead the shift adds up to a very disturbing and rushed end result wherein Luna devolves into a mindless monologue and turns into a brutal aggressor Who Must Die. So, you have a compelling character who is weakened and subjected to “last minute vilification” to elicit a cathartic moment from the audience that helps build Octavia’s characterization.

And I’m just sitting here thinking to myself, “Nah, thanks”.

That is one of many reasons why this character-assassination is highly questionable to me - given what we’ve seen of Luna before and how good the turn into darkness could have been - because it is explicitly shown to be the kind of “conflict” that isn’t even conflict anymore. Luna is just bad and Octavia is there to deliver the final blow and show us that she is beyond saving.

Also, when taking the visual depiction of Luna into account (mixed with Octavia’s final line “there are people worth saving, just not you”) it gets even more sloppy, because all those close-ups that feel dark and surreal help with the whole “there is no coming back for Luna: She Has Gone Crazy For Good” portrayal. Again, the audience completely forgets about her and ends up cheering for Octavia instead, being on her side and hoping for Luna’s death.

15 Reasons Nygmobblepot Will Still Be Canon

Yes, I’m doing another one of these. I’d appreciate it if I wasn’t judged for this. A lot of people need to feel positive right now, including me. And these are things that need to be mentioned

  • The whole season so for has been dedicated to Oswald falling in love with Ed. Oswald’s only other arc was becoming Mayor. Writers don’t normally waste half a season without utilizing the elements they used and built up.
  • Cory Michael Smith and Robin Lord Taylor “Living” for Nygmobblepot and both being part of the LGBT community.
  • Cory and Robin looking happy in most new set photos.
  • Robin putting a green and purple heart underneath a set photo of Ed and Oswald by the docks.
  • The actors/writers never saying outright that they won’t end up together along the line and teasing us with tweets and pictures sometimes supporting Nygmobblepot romantically.
  • TV Shows/Dramas like to throw their audiences off track with smartly twisted lies and words, and they like to build up a lot of drama to make us keep coming back and watching again every week. The drama between Ed and Oswald right now almost means nothing.
  • Episode 15 of Season one is where Oswald and Edward met. Episode 15 of Season two is where Edward and Oswald met again for the first time after becoming (best) friends. Also Cory said his “favorite scenes with Robin” were in Episode 15 of this season: How the Riddler Got His Name.
  • Episode 14 is where Ed and Oswald “come to an understanding” after dealing with their problems “face-to face.”
  • In response to someone being distraught over Nygmobblepot (”Nygmobblepot is killing me”), the Gotham Writers on Twitter said “There’s still a lot of episodes left this season.”
  • 90% of negativity and pessimism about Nygmobblepot being fan’s or article writer’s opinions and speculation.
  • Cory Michael Smith liking a tweet that said something along the lines of “I hope this doesn’t end up being queerbaiting.”
  • Gotham has never shied away from surprising us, throwing out plot twists, teasing us, torturing us. This is nothing new.
  • Ed and Oswald work together against Jerome (and presumably the trio) later in Season 3.
  • Ed has been known to double cross, and like working alone. He especially doesn’t like working with specific people below his intelligence level. (Butch, Barbara, Tabitha)
  • Everything done in the Ed and Oswald arc this season thus far all would be for nothing. Legitimately. For nothing. Would the writers be that stupid?

Have. Faith. Everyone. Do it so the homophobes don’t win. Do it so that lgbt audience members can know that others believe in this relationship. Do it for them. Do it for us. Don’t let our ship sink until there’s literally nothing left. And does it look like we have nothing??^^^

Out of all the sad lines in Gintama, nothing hits me more than this line

Gintoki has lived with various people during a life time. Starting from shouyou and reaching this day with the yorozuya, but does that mean he ever belonged to any of them? When first shown as a child, Gintoki was introduced as a lone wolf

he roamed around with one objective, to survive. Even after his time with shouyou, even after his time with the joui or the yorozuya, it always felt like he was disconnected. Even though the yorozuya filled his empty life and he gained all these new friends, something always seemed off. That’s why I came to a conclusion to why Gintoki is the way he is. He is afraid. Afraid to lose the new life he built. Afraid that one day he’ll look and find everyone that gave his life a meaning gone. Afraid that just like he had to go through all the pain of losing shoyou, of having to fight his comrade -husband-, he’ll have to go through that again. That’s why during the four divas arc he said this to kagura and megane

Gintoki can’t afford to lose his life motive anymore. He can’t lose his family. So, do I think Gintoki ever beloned to anyone? Yes. He belonged to Shouyou the moment he chose the joui over him. He belonged to the joui the moment he found the yorozuya, And he’ll belong to the yorozuya the moment he let go of his fair of loss and start looking for a better tomorrow with them where he protects them and they protect him. And I think Sorachi is going to convey that in a slow yet beautiful process.
