yes so awesome

I watched Trollhunters a little while ago and it actually inspired me to doodle again soooo here’s some angry changelings not appreciating the whole “impure” thing

my wife just pointed out that Rick O’Connell from The Mummy and Eliot Spencer from Leverage would be the ultimate mom friends together and now I want a movie of this, the two of them long-sufferingly trying to prevent their family/friends with no self-preservation instincts from getting themselves killed

Why do you still believe? I can't deal with all the crap we are being fed. So I'm taking my life jacket (before they all go) and jumping off the lido deck, with my drink of course. Hopefully one day the games will stop, honesty will prevail and I'll be able to step back on the cruise. Take care you are truly a funny person x

It’s a combination of things, really. One, there’s a fine line between confidence and delusion, and I ride that shit like a bear on a unicycle. Two, I have years of practice picking apart celebrity gossip from fact. Four, I trust my eyeballs over my ears. Five, having a general understanding of how this shit works helps immensely when it comes to not falling for the fake tennis ball throw every time. Six, I’m not a gambler but I like my odds here because 95% of what I see points toward SC as the couple, and I’m not one to throw away my hand on a 5% chance. Seven, I fucked up the numbering and am too lazy to change it, which is a pretty good metaphor for how my mind works when it has already laid the groundwork for something and doesn’t feel compelled in any way to change it.

OMFG IM CRYING THE COLORING IS SO BEAUTIFUL. @rynnaminttea/@cinnaminttea and I did a collaboration (I did the lines and Ryn colored). I can’t stop scREAMING at how gorgeous she made ittttt

The story of the Kubdel pocket watch

Alright, but who wants to talk about Melvin Sneedly?

In the book series, he was always kind of my favorite villain to start with (I have a thing for adorable sassy child villains- look at how many posts I’ve liked with tags like “Gideon Gleeful” “Diamond Tiara” or “Barry Bling” if you don’t believe me)-I mean, he was cute, stuck-up, and kind of a fun character to laugh at. Personally, I think he’s best just a villain of the children, waging battle against the children, but then again, he had quite a few different forms throughout the series, including Octo-Melvin, the Bionic Booger Boy, and Mr. Melvin-so yes, a fun character on his own.

Look at that. Look at that picture of Melvin showing off PATSY 2000 with that adorable smug face and tell me he isn’t the best.

And then came the movie.

Generally, I’m not too huge of a fan of books being made into movies, as they can’t show all the detail, gloss over a fair amount, and have to do some creative work to get it from one character’s perspective. (And, according to Mac’s principal, must cost under $500 to produce and have an underlying message of friendship!) But, although I ramble a lot about Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, I must say, Dreamworks did it beautifully. (Complete with Flip-o-ramas, misspellings, and whoopee cushions!) And everything they did to Melvin’s character just adds to how Melvin-y he really is, starting from the slightly  cliche first-appearance-reading-a-dictionary, to finding out he has no biological sense of humor. At all.

Oh, and the extra-credit roll definitely marks him up to the Cinnamon Roll Hall of Fame. ((Shout-out to that moment when Mr. Krupp pretends to throw Melvin the extra credit and Melvin catches it…! And tucks it in his pocket..! Aaaa, my goodness, I could watch that all day.))

So yes. In essence, Melvin Sneedly is amazing. That is all.

….

“But THAT WRISTWATCH THOUGH…”

Cartimandua was a 1st-century queen of the Brigantes, a Celtic people living in what is now northern England. She came to power around the time of the Roman conquest of Britain, and formed a large tribal agglomeration that became loyal to Rome. She appears to have been widely influential in early Roman Britain.

Our only knowledge of Cartimandua is through the writings of Roman author Tacitus, who presents her in a negative light. He writes of her treacherous role in the capture of Caratacus, who had sought her protection, her “self-indulgence, her sexual impropriety in rejecting her husband in favour of a common soldier, and her "cunning strategems” during her rule. However, he also consistently names her as a queen, the only one such known in early Roman Britain.

Boudica was ruler of the Iceni people, a Celtic tribe, who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. In AD 60 or 61, while the Roman governor Gaius Paulinus was leading a campaign on the island of Anglesey off the northwest coast of Wales, Boudica led the Iceni as well as the Trinovantes and others in revolt.

Boudica led 100,000 Iceni, Trinovantes and others to fight the Roman Legio IX Hispana and burned and destroyed several settlements in Britannia. An estimated 70,000–80,000 Romans and British were killed in the three cities by those led by Boudica. The crisis caused the Emperor Nero to consider withdrawing all Roman forces from Britain, but Suetonius’s eventual victory over Boudica confirmed Roman control of the province. Boudica’s fate is not known.

The two women are the only known female Celtic rulers of the age.

What other people in the ANE fandom title their fics: Really cool titles reminiscent of the story, often which have a strange sense of irony and/or foreshadowing, often even go so far as to research outside their native language to search for the perfect name.
