“Dance with me,” Missy said to Clara, holding a hand out to the younger woman as she bowed.
Taken aback, Clara laughed and crossed her arms as Missy looked up from her bow.
“Here? Now? With you? Are you insane?”
“Oh, dear, that’s the question of the millennia,” Missy scoffed as she straightened, clapping her hands in mock applause.
“Of course I’m insane! The question now is, are you insane enough to dance with me?” The Time Lady began spinning around, giggling to herself.
“Why would I want to dance with you of all people?”
“Because we’re here, now, in the moment! Live a little, you tiny control freak! Have some fun!” Missy winked at that. Clara hated being called a control freak, and Missy knew it.
With a harrumph, Clara snatched Missy’s hand and pulled her close.
“You win. There, you happy?” Clara asked as Missy held both their hands up together to spin Clara. The Impossible Girl followed Missy’s lead and spun, small fingers nestled against the Time Lady’s elegant ones.
“We’re on an alien planet where we could be attacked any second, and we’re dancing,” Clara explained as she gave Missy a spin.
“Yes, yes, I know all that,” Missy drawled. “But are you having fun?”
Clara let herself be pulled in close to Missy and stared into those steel colored eyes. They were daring and dangerous and held terrible wonders inside of them.
Clara’s heart raced as she leaned in toward Missy.
“Yeah, I think I am having fun.”
