A thrilled return to the Captain’s Logs! Featuring several top-notch episodes, wow, Season 7 is really doing the dang thing!

7x05 ‘Chrysalis’
- @memory-for-trifles calls this one a problematic fave and @rainbowrites started describing it with “Bashir is really really lonely”, so ha ha let’s go
- it literally begins with Miles saying he can’t get a drink with Julian oh nooo
- this boy is so alonely he just asked to third-wheel Nerys and Odo’s date, omg, oh biscuit
- so Julian just curled up to go to sleep, at, we discover, 3:00am. please don’t tell me how long he was lying in bed quietly talking to some virus mutation game on his iPad.
- Nog: “Sir! Admiral Patrick and his staff just arrived on the Farragut.” wait. hold on. I took a phone call on Friday from someone at a school in Florida called….Admiral Farragut Academy. well this is a curious coincidence.

Quinn’s 3rd Annual OC October Aesthetic Edition, Day 21: Azalea St. Christopher

AKA your fav is problematic-Quinn. Names an OC Azalea despite the fact that I can’t spell Azalea.

So Azalea here is another character that I’m still flushing out. Here’s what I do know about her though, that she’s cool as fuck.

Okay, in all serious, what I know about her is this: Azalea comes from a family of very Christian Necromancers. Yes, you read that right. It may sound like an oxymoron but the way they see it even Jesus came back from the dead. They’re not too uptight religiously but the fact that Azalea is a vaguely pagan free spirit sure makes Thanksgiving interesting.

Free spirit might be putting it mildly. On the surface Azalea is a badass, she rides a motorcycle, has a skeleton cat, falls asleep in cemeteries and is a police consultant. Though truthfully there’s a disconnect between appearance and reality. Her motorcycle’s name is Queenie, her cat’s name is Mr. Darcy (and the only reason he’s undead is because she’s allergic to pet hair) and she cries at Disney movies. She’s a real sweetheart who is actually super chill and likes helping people where she can.

She’s also, like, suuuuuper gay. Like she sees a cute girl and shoujo anime sparkles and blushing gay. Which is kind of a problem when her job sends her to help out the local law enforcement of a beachy island town, a town where the resident mermaid liaison is a rather lovely nature witch who’s consistently topless. According to Azalea, this is the breast job ever. Shit, no, best job ever.

Can we take a moment to just breathe and chill out? Like I’m a huge fangirl but I just have to laugh when I read all the negative Rhaegar x Lyanna posts… Martin’s whole idea was to write about complex, human characters who were all grey, who all made both good and bad decisions. There are no “good guys” and “bad guys” I mean Jaime screws his sister and pushed a kid out of window yet we have all grown to love him. It’s all a work of wonderful fiction where you can love a character who has done stupid things and hate a character who has always tried to be good. That is the beauty of this world.
Anyway R+L is of course problematic but I think that’s the point, the love between them makes it sooo much more complicated and it finally establishes what we’ve always been told about Lyanna that she was strong and wilful and not the kind of girl to be kidnapped or fooled! And that Rhaeagar wasn’t just a selfish ass who took what he wanted he was acting on not only his love but Lyanna’s love too. Yes he left his wife and kids (very naughty), which is yet another layer to this incredibly complex story which by the way we still know very little about.
I hope we will get a book or a tv show at some point to explain all that we don’t know, but in the mean time let’s not all assume things about characters that have been made up by someone else! These aren’t real people or real situations, the actors aren’t their characters! I repeat these actors aren’t their characters! Let’s talk about the things we love and not the things we hate !!!!!!
I ship R+L, I’m a sucker for starcrossed lovers it’s true!!! 😅😍
*end of story*

Okay so. Sombra is officially 30 years old and that’s apparently “too horrible” for people to ship her with D.Va but?? That didn’t stop the McR*yes shippers when Jesse was actually underage??

D.Va is 19, she’s a grown ass woman, she’s been through war. If you don’t feel comfy shipping Som.Va anymore, don’t ship it. I understand. But there’s so much irony when no one talks about the problematic ships while simultaneously dissing Som.Va like… nah pls, I’m going to ship this.

Rhys is the kind of a guy that seems perfect on paper. You know the sort? You share many interests, he looks alright, is generally sweet and kind, and your parents would probably like him. And yet... he doesn't make your blood boil, he doesn't keep you on your toes. He is, imo, who Hermione believes she SHOULD be with, and not who she actually wants/needs to be with. I can't wait for her to realize that too :)

I…

hm.

hmmmmmm.

I’m not sure I agree? I mean obviously we are all a bit biased; yes, we already know Hermione isn’t going to choose him, but not for those reasons, per se — for one thing, I don’t think Rhys is any easier a choice for her than Draco is, nor is Rhys all that good on paper. if anything, he is rather problematic on paper. so yeah, we know that Rhys has no chance, but I don’t think I see him the same way you do.

Okay, there is obviously so much wrong with this misogynistic, transphobic excuse for feminism post and I just felt the need to rant on it.

The first paragraph has so much wrong with by stating that there is some sort of criteria EVERY woman must follow in order to be a “real woman”. Also it degrades women that enjoy and find pleasure in things like make up, gowns, and fake boobs. Lastly not ALL women are here to have kids/daughters.

In the second paragraph she uses her age as an excuse to build a criteria on “real women” when things, believe it or not, have changed in the span of fifty years. She goes on to tell someone what they can and can’t identify as, which is problematic enough. Periods are not an excuse for you to be arrogant towards the trans community. Also what about the cis women who don’t have periods, or bad cramps? Are they too not able to identify as a woman? Also, Caitlyn Jenner HAS faced unnecessary sexual comments and slander from men so don’t think it’s a cis thing only. So much of the ridicule she’s getting through her transition is about her looks and sex appeal, so yes, she knows the feeling.

As sorry as I am about your miscarriages, no body deserves that, its not a ploy for you to play in order to make you seem like a real woman. Many women have gone their whole lives without a miscarriage, trans and cis included. Another point continuously made in this post is that Caitlyn will never know what it’s like to be a mom because she’ll never give birth. Caitlyn has kids and is an amazing parent to them. Women do not only exist to procreate, also what about the cis women who can’t give birth? Are they, in your eyes, not real women as well? There are adoptive mothers that are still mothers, right?

Your comparison between identifying as a women and identifying as a widow (when your partner is still alive) has no correlation and makes absolutely no sense. Those are no where near the same thing.

Her definition of a real women is full of internalized misogyny and is problematic within itself. Being a women is already hard with the standard set for us by the outside, now other women need to build standards for each other too? That’s ridiculous.

Therefore for I find your transphobic claim to not accept Caitlyn as a woman disingenuous, uneducated, and honestly - quite offensive.

I think the moment that hit me the most, like yes the moments with the hologram and lion were emotional but, what really hit me deep was "What do you know, you've never even met her!". Like, I don't see this as like "oh no she's problematic now, i dont like her" no it just hit me deep. Because it was totally in character, it was such raw emotion. It was such an intense and powerful scene.

That scene was SO RAW for me too- especially because then we saw the fallout and smaller flairs of emotion from Amethyst and Garnet over Pearl’s reaction. They know how she’s feeling, but take on the feeling in different ways- like Garnet slowly putting the picture of Rose back in it’s place and Amethyst storming off to her room to be alone. It was brutally open and deeply sad.
