Title: Blind Date
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner/ Reader mentioned Will/JJ
Fandom: Criminal Minds
“You would really enjoy yourself,” JJ insisted, she held her hands together and looked at you with those sparking eyes.
You sigh at your friend and rest your hands on your hips. It’s been a few months since you’ve dated anyone, your ex really messed with your head and you didn’t want to go through that all over again.
“He won’t mess you around. He’s a nice guy” JJ told you.
You sighed and ran your hand though your hair.
“JJ, I just don’t think dating your boss is a good idea,” you admit.
JJ had told you all about her team, you had known each other for a while having met in a yoga class, you both seemed to click instantly. You fell in love with Henry immediately, he was adorable and you didn’t mind babysitting the rare time JJ had asked.
“Hotch,” JJ started before correcting herself. “Aaron is my friend and he needs company. Just like you.”
“Company! I’m not an old cat who needs a scratch behind my ear.“ You laugh. JJ grins shaking her head.
“You know I don’t mean it like that. What I mean is Aaron has commitments and so do you. Both of you are so terrified of meeting anyone. So what can go wrong?” She jokes.
“Fine, fine.” You say holding your hands up. “I’ll go on a date with Aaron. Pass him my number and we will sort something out.”
JJ claps and grins at you. “You won’t regret this,”
You hum and nod. “I better get home, I’ve got a Friends Marathon and a bottle of wine calling my name.”
“Me too, Will is cooking pasta.”
“You did good with that one,” you tell her, she grins at you. “Enjoy your man and your plate full of carbs.”
“Oh I will,” she says with a smirk and you leave with a wave and a laugh.
Your lying on the sofa with popcorn and a glass of wine laughing as Chandler and Joey tease each other when you hear your cell go off.
You lean over and grab it, accepting the call before even knowing what your doing.
“Hi, is this Y/F/N?”
“It’s Aaron Hotchner,”
You sit up with a start, your popcorn flying on to the floor. “Oh, hello. Sorry I didn’t expect you to call so soon.”
There was silence at the other end of the call. “I’m not good at this, should I have waiting longer before calling?,”
You laugh into the phone. "Oh no, its fine! Eager is a good thing. It’s nice to hear from you, JJ has definitely sung your praises.”
“I think she’s due a pay rise,” Aaron jokes.
“I think you all are for the work you do,” you tell him.
“It doesn’t bother you what I do?” He asks.
“No, not at all.” You tell him. “I think you all do an amazing important job.”
“I am away a lot.” He tells you. You feel like he’s warning you off.
“I know,” you smile softly to yourself. “Aaron, JJ has told me all about you all. I know what you do. I know how often your away and I know there will be nights you don’t want company, but some nights you will. One of those nights it would be nice to go out for food and a drink with you. That’s if you want to.”
“I want to,” Aaron said, his voice seemed to have gone deeper and it sent a shiver down your spine. “We’re actually off this weekend and I’m free tomorrow night if you are.”
“I’ll book reservations somewhere and text you the info is that ok?”
“Yes of course. I’ll wait to hear from you.”
“Speak to you soon and see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow Aaron.”
You turn the call off and clutch your cell to your chest as a smile spreads over your face. This just feels right.
