Bangtan Fic Rec

All of these are on ao3, they’re all shipping fics. I’ll add more as I read, these are just the ones I’ve read so far. My opinion is in italics, I only added the pairing, summary and theme of the fics, not the warnings and ratings so check those out when you’re gonna read them because some of them contain either smut, death or violence. You’ve been warned.

Fics in this list: 43.

I dream in the shape of your mouth by jonghyun | Namjin, College!AU.

Summary: Seokjin spends a lot of time in the library. Now, Namjoon does too. Taemin tries to summon Satan, and Jimin is a fuckboy.

*Jackson voice* Cute

Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast by Kavbj | Taekook, College!AU, Fantasy!AU

Summary: Taehyung has magic in his veins and Jungkook’s determined not to let it kill him.

Dude. This fic is so creative and well-written… I finished it and felt empty.

beat for me (live for me)  by bakkushan | Namjin, Mafia!AU part of the offer me your deathless death series.

Summary: Namjoon’s looking at himself and then at Seokjin and all he can see is Life and Death lying next to each other under a starless sky.

I cried like a bitch with this one, painful as fuck.

All you need is love (and pink) by vppa | NamJin, Angels and Demons!AU.

Summary: Most people only have one miniature angel or devil riding on their shoulders to serve as the physical manifestation of their conscience. Poor Namjoon has five, and they’re all telling him the same thing: “fucking talk to him god dammit what the fuck is wrong with you”

Funny and sweet. I like it.

Can I Get Your Dewey Decimal Number? by melecs| NamJin, Library!AU.

Summary: Seokjin loved working at the library, but some patrons got on his nerves. Take, for example, the grown man who sat in the corner every day and leeched off of the Wi-Fi. And Seokjin worked in the children’s department.

Ah, this is… something else, for sure. Cute as hell. Funny, too.

The less I know the better by mucha | Taegi, Namjin, Fake Relationship!AU

Summary: “Together with their families, Kim Namjoon and Kim Seokjin… Wow, this is formal… Wait,” Hoseok squints at the paper, before looking back at Yoongi with a quizzical look on his face. “They invited you with a guest? But… You’re single, right?”

“Min Yoongi,” Jimin glares at him over the bar, crossing his arms sternly over his chest. “If you’re seeing someone and you didn’t tell us I will kick your ass, so help me god.”

“I’m not dating anyone,” Yoongi sighs, grabbing the invitation and scanning it quickly. The words “with a guest” are underlined and Yoongi can almost see it: the smugness on his brother’s face as he nods with satisfaction, putting the pencil down.

“So what does it mean?”

Yoongi shifts uncomfortably in his seat, avoiding making eye contact.

“I might’ve… invented a boyfriend,” he finally mumbles to the glass in front of him.

This is so good, amazing, incredible. Brilliant. Entertaining as hell.

Star Light, Star Bright (The Last Star I’ll See Tonight) by DreamsOfAnotherReality | Taekook, Yoonseok, Teen!AU.

Summary: Jung Kook and Taehyung fall in love the summer Hoseok goes missing.

Hoseok just wanted to see the stars and confess to Yoongi gdi bye I’m gonna fucking kill myself.

Creating a home series by CheekyBrunette | Namjin, Foster Parents!AU

Summary: A BTS Foster Care AU

This AU is so cute and fluffy I love Domestic!Namjin

The Professor’s Family series by EquinoxSolstice | Taekook, NamJin, Family!AU

Summary: Professor Kim Namjoon is married.

He doesn’t have a wife.

They have a sort-of son.

And Jeon Jungkook just crossed paths with them.

Read this. It’s great, I promise.

The Greatest by Little_Dimples | jikook, College!AU, Sports!AU.

Summary: Person A is a hockey player person B a figure skater. Person A is told he needs more grace on the ice so he is forced to get lessons by person B. Problem is they hate each other.

Or Person A is Jungkook and Person B is Jimin.

I had so much fun reading this you don’t get it. As I was reading in class i had to hide my face because I was smiling so much. Really good fic.

400 minutes | yoonmin, School!AU.

Summary: Min Yoongi expected a lot of weird experiences to happen when he went to college, but being the roommate of his high school love who apparently “moved away for good” was not one of them.

Angsty but in a good way.

Beta Tau Sigma by bazooka | Namjin, Yoonmin, College!AU, Frat!AU.

Summary: A collection of events occurring within (and without) the walls of the Beta Tau Sigma fraternity house.
At Beta Tau Sigma, there are only a few rules:

1) have a declared major in the College of Music;
2) keep your GPA above a 3.4;
3) don’t let Taehyung into the liquor cabinet;
4) don’t fuck up with Kim Seokjin. The rest is all fine print.

(Rating changed to M for sexual content in ch17.)

OKAY, THIS FIC IS THE END OF EVERYTHING FOR ME. My Favorite Fic Of All Time. Nothing is ever gonna top this for me, even House of Cards. This fic has it all, humor, angst, fluff, smut. Everything. Incredible fic. Golden fic.

cuz in a sky full of stars (I think I saw you) by wowoashley | Taekook, Namjin, Fake Relationship!AU

Summary: taehyung always has bad ideas. and jeongguk thinks this might be the best.

This is so cute and cliché but in a good way, I really love this fic.

ce monde est une têmpete by astringxnt | Taekook, Yoonmin, Namjin, College!AU

Summary: they say that one should fall in love with their eyes open, but Jungkook keeps his closed, and Taehyung is afraid that they’ll fall in all the wrong places.

the concept of strings in space time theory is that on a one dimensional plane, one only has the option of going backwards or forwards in their direction of travel. Jungkook chooses to be swept along into the unknown, with Taehyung as his only anchor.

AMAZING! I really like the plot of this one.

Safe and Sound by bazooka | Namjin, Royalty!AU.

Summary: From a tumblr prompt: Jin is a prince, and Namjoon is his bodyguard.

“You’re sort of bad at this.”
“Nah. You’re safe, aren’t you?”

Prince!Jin. That’s all I have to say about this fic. Amazing.

(thought you knew) you were in this song by expplipo | Taekook, Yoonseok, Namjin, Soulmate!AU

Summary: Taehyung nearly chokes, but only nearly. Instead he raises an eyebrow and puts on the most suave smile he can manage. Hopes he looks far more collected than his for-some-reason racing heartbeat would let on, more suit-and-wine than elementary-schooler-with-a-new-crush. “You like me?”

Jeongguk blushes, and looks at his feet. He’s smiling. “Of course.”

“Really?” Taehyung says. “Like? Or like like?”

(So much for suit-and-wine.)

Nothing to say apart from it being amazing.

Common Thread by sugafree | Yoonmin, Namjin, Soulmate!AU

Summary: Red String of Fate AU where Yoongi doesn’t believe in soulmates and spends a long time trying to avoid a certain someone on the other end of his red thread.

I’m a sucker for Soulmates, but this fic is good regardless, love the way it’s written.

for you, anything by kadotas | Vmin, Yoonkook, Namjin, Marriage!AU

Summary: “Talk dirty to me,” Taehyung says lowly into Jimin’s ear, breath ghosting Jimin’s earlobe, eliciting a slight shudder from the latter.

“I’m not wearing underwear,” Jimin whispers back, pulling back to look Taehyung in the eye.

Taehyung groans gruffly at this, breaking the eye contact to lean down and nip Jimin’s jawline gently. “God yes baby that’s just-“

“I’m not wearing any underwear because you never fucking put the laundry in the fucking dryer like I’ve asked you to 100 times,” Jimin hisses, voice strained with vehemence, glaring at him and Taehyung sighs defeatedly.

(in which Taehyung and Jimin navigate through married life together, realising belatedly that it’s not always smooth sailing.)

Domestic Vmin is the best Vmin.

Let me know by TheOrgasmicSeke | Yoonmin, Yoonkook, Jikook, Yoonminkook, Namjin, Vhope, I Need U!AU, Poly!AU

Summary: Talking about it, of course, became harder as the days passed by. Yoongi could never find the right time to bring it up. He was still wondering if he was just imaging things. If he was just thinking he was feeling the things he was feeling. But that was quickly disproved every single time Jimin curled up around him and Jungkook kissed him. He was a fucking idiot in love with two bigger idiots and there wasn’t a damn thing he could do about it. Except probably ruin it by talking about it. Hell, maybe it was better to just never mention it and pretend it wasn’t happening.

So good. No other words.

Find the value of an elephant by tired angry egg (Mirabelle) | Namjin, Highschool!AU, Tutor!AU

Summary: When Kim Taehyung’s academic situation takes a turn for the worse, his mother is convinced to hire a highly recommended tutor in the hopes for a miracle that would turn her son into a conscientious student. Her eldest son, Seokjin, has a far more skeptical opinion on this entire thing, expecting it to be-lest he sugarcoat it-a complete failure. And Kim Namjoon is just really bad at making good first impressions (or second ones, or just impressions altogether).

Cute and funny.

A Sociolinguistic Analysis of Epenthesis in Academic Convergence by bazooka | Namjin, College!AU, Professor!AU

Summary: Epenthesis
A phonological phenomenon in which two disparate sounds meet, creating a third sound between them which wasn’t there before.

There were a lot of jobs worse than being partnered with world-renowned Absent-Minded Professor Kim Namjoon, but Professor Kim Seokjin couldn’t think of what any of them were at the moment.

THIS! IS! SO! GOOD! Honestly, I’m in love with this fic.

The Mark of an Educated Mind by bazooka | Namjin, Metafiction.

Summary: At three o'clock in the morning after he’d been working for ten hours straight and everything he touched came out wrong and all his words were stilted and clumsy and all his music was rough and tangled… for some ungodly reason Kim Namjoon opened up a new browser window, typed bangtan sonyeondan fan fiction into the search bar, and then (god) hit enter.

A Wonderful Institution by bazooka | Namjin, Yoonmin, Wedding Planner!AU.

Summary: Kim Seokjin is a wedding caterer. Kim Namjoon is a wedding planner.

Both of them think marriage is a societal construct with no place in modern life. Neither of them would know Real Love if it came up to them at a wedding and made a wager.

I love this fic because it’s so cute and funny to me.

Just Skin by syubology | Taegi, College!AU.

Summary: Yoongi is small and angry and 200% done with having feelings; Taehyung is Taehyung; Hoseok harasses Yoongi with petnames and Jimin ships Yoonseok. That’s basically it.

The fic that made me ship Taegi.

Pour up (Drank) by mindheist | Taekook, College!AU, Frat!AU.

Summary: If you can read this, take another shot.

LISTEN. This fic is so good it’s almost Beta Tau Sigma and that’s saying a lot because I love that fic. Anyways, the story in this one is great and it has its funny moments as well as fluffy and frustrating ones. Great fic.

Sidereal by darling | Vmin, Childhood Friends!AU.

Summary: Here we observe the Earth and the Sun in their natural habitat: each other.

This is all cute and fluffy in some parts but deep in others. Beautiful fic, I like the concept.

half a soul divided by jynxu | Minjoon, Taekook, Yoonseok, Soulmate!AU

Summary: Park Jimin has never been on a date. Nor has he had his first kiss, flirted with anyone, or fallen in love. His classmates would ridicule him and base nicknames over his distaste toward anything romantic. (Look, here comes Saint Jiminie!) Even his younger brother would make fun of him while his parents watched with pitying looks on their faces.

Nobody understood.

or: soulmate au where your soulmate’s date of death is tattooed on your wrist.

This made me cry. At school. No joke my friends were worried. Great fic, read if you want to cry.

Out of My System by xxdevilishxx | Yoonmin, Vhope, Namjin, One Night Stand!AU.

Summary: Yoongi likes one night stands and he understands how they work. What he doesn’t understand, however, is how he ended up in bed with a probably-not-legal kid crying in his arms about his broken heart, because he’s pretty sure (and correct him if he’s wrong) that a babysitting job was not what he was looking for when he went to the opening of his friend’s new club.

I read this instead of studying. Really good and interesting, I like the characters.

refrigerator humming, chewing gum and instant karma by locks | Taekook, Gangster!AU, Mafia!AU.

Summary: Taehyung sets the flowers down on the dining table, plucking the card off the little holder. “Dearest Taehyung, just wanted you to know that I’m thinking about you. I hope you’re thinking about me too. Love–” he pauses and squints before cocking an eyebrow and pursing his lips. “Hyung, why is the boss of your little boy band gang professing his love for me?”

Yoongi drops the noodles on the floor with a loud curse as he burns his hand.

Or, Taehyung’s been trying his hardest to avoid Yoongi’s criminal life for a long ass time, but a cute kid and his infuriating father keep pulling him deeper into the mix.

Cute and a good read, the concept is awesome and I like the way it’s written.

House of Cards by sugamins | Taekook, Vmin, Jikook, Vminkook, Mafia!AU, Gangster!AU.

Summary: Jungkook is the heir to a mob empire, the most notorious in the whole of Seoul. Taehyung is a rookie sent in to infiltrate by his select team and bring the empire crumbling down.

“You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated.”

Trailer. This fic. I have no words. It’s beautifully written and the plot is amazing, really interesting and just plain good. The fic to end all Mafia!AUs. Nothing is ever gonna top this for me. It’s also a long read.

Let Me In Or Let Me Down by noraebangbang | Yoonmin, A/B/O.

Summary: Yoongi hates dealing with heat cycles and suppressants and life in general. Everything is a terrible mess, and then there’s Jimin to make things a tiny bit brighter.

Now, listen, I don’t really like ABO, but this fic is so good that I wanna like it because if there are any other ABO fics like this gem then I’m in for a treat.

Kickstart series by Error401 | Yoonmin, Namjin, Vhope, Gangster!AU, Hitman!AU

Summary: Hitman!Yoongi AU.

The plot of this series is really interesting, I read it all in one sitting because I just needed more. It’s really good.

The Still Point (Of The Turning World) by inkingbrushes | Yoonseok, Reincarnation!AU, Soulmates!AU, Multiple lives!AU.

Summary: Because Yoongi doesn’t know how this started, or how this will end, but he knows this simple fact: he knows that there is a love between them that is much fiercer than the burning sun. There is that love then, and there is that love now, and surely there will be that same love the next time.

(Or: the one where they’re reincarnated over and over again and Yoongi meets a different version of Hoseok every time but Yoongi is the only one that remembers.)

Ok, this fic made me cry really hard and I’m still affected by it. It’s beautiful and sad and you should totally read it.

“What’s so bad about reposting?”

“It’s easy to make gifs, who cares.“

 Wrong.

And here’s why:

  • Presumably, you’re reposting because you either:

a) don’t have access to the video that’s gif’d because you don’t know where it’s from or you don’t know how to download it. Which already proves that making gifs is difficult because of the time spent video hunting and downloading. (You’d be surprised how hard it is to download videos from certain websites.)

b) don’t have access to photoshop, because you’re not sure how to download it, or you do have it but don’t know how to work it. Which again, proves making gifs is difficult because it’s more than just right clicking then saving as (which is what reposting is - so if you catch yourself doing this, stop!) You have to learn how to use photoshop to actually make a gif, and to actually use photoshop you have to know how and where to download it. Some people even pay for it, and it’s extremely unfair to those that do because something they essentially paid for is getting stolen from them.

  • Gifs are not even just about being able to do the basic load files into stacks or import layers from frames, whichever method of gif making you prefer. Nope. It’s about coloring as well, which makes your gif unique and different from someone else’s. People spend time making their gifs look nice in addition to spending their time looking for the right video and whatnot.

So have some respect for people that do their best to provide you with pretty gifs on your dashboard to reblog >:(

(No, it does not count if you repost someone’s gif and “give credit”, especially if the source is “it’s not mine but I found it on Google”. Tumblr made a beautiful function called a REBLOG. Use it. It’s your best friend.)

Next time you say, “everyone reposts” or “they’re just gifs”, keep in mind making gifs isn’t actually as easy as some people belittle it to be! Try making gifs for yourself and see how hard it is. Really, try.

(And if you’re thinking, “oh making gifs is so easy! I’ve tried it!” then it literally costs you $0.00 to make your own gifs and gain notes through your own hard work. Seriously. Stop taking credit for someone else’s hard work.)

Stopping reposts can happen if you take a step to stop yourself from reposting and letting others know why it’s bad too. If no one tells you what you’re doing is wrong, how would you know what you’re doing isn’t right? One by one, we can all eventually stop reposting because it’s very disrespectful to artists (yes, gif makers are considered artists too). If you want notes, earn them yourself just like how every original content makers do. And even if you can’t make anything yourself, don’t be mean. Support people’s works.

(This applies to everyone that makes original content, fan art, fan fiction, graphics, etc. The steps in between to make them are different, but reposts affect all of us the same. Please stop reposting and respect the artists.)

ultimate-drama-queen  asked:

Hi. I love your blog and all the little headcannons (canon?) you do. I also noticed you're amazing for writing little stories for people who are having a tough time. Would it be too much to ask if I could have one? I'm suffering from a bout of depression/insomnia and I'm running on about 4 hours sleep in about 3 days. What do you think of Derek or Stiles getting insomnia from all the stuff they've seen and the other just cuddling them through it? Trying to stay awake so they're not alone?

Hey, sweetheart. The depression/insomnia combo is horrible. I don’t know if it will work for you but earlier this year I stumbled upon ASMR videos. I know some people find them weird but they really helped me when it came to getting to sleep. In the mean time, I hope this little fic does something to help.

Stiles thought being able to sleep after the Nogitsune had been the universe’s way of balancing out the good and bad in his life: get possessed by a psychotic Japanese fox but sleep like a baby every night after. As it turned out, being able to sleep after a spirit uses your body to murder a bunch of people came down to the fact Stiles hadn’t had a break since finding Laura Hale’s body that night in the woods.

He believed joining the academy would be a fresh start, and in many ways it was. He just didn’t count on the fact that now he didn’t have pure evil trying to kill him at every waking moment that his brain would finally find time to process it. Stiles had always been a fan of ignoring his problems until they eventually, just, go away; watching his friends die, looking down at his own body and knowing it wasn’t really his but the cardboard cutout left behind by the Nogitsune, the memory of watching Derek almost -

He assumed - stupidly - that he had been successful in that particular endeavour. As long as he had his pillow, he was fine. You’re going to be fine. That was what the faceless people of the internet said. Stiles didn’t think “fine” was ever going to be an option for him but he guessed hope was a nice sentiment.

“Insomnia,” Scott said, repeating the word back to him. Stiles could practically hear the concern, loud and clear, ringing through the phone. It instantly made him feel worse. Heaving a sigh, he scrubbed a tired hand down his face. Maybe he shouldn’t have called.

“Yes, insomnia.”

Scott was quiet for several seconds.  “Do you have your pillow?” he asked.

“Yes,” Stiles answered. He was currently clutching it to his chest, sprawled out on his bedroom floor. It was 3am, the floor was hard, and if he didn’t get some sleep soon he was going to start crying; the kind of crying he hadn’t done since he was a kid and his mom took ill.

“What about drugs?” Scott suggested. “I could ask my mom-”

“No drugs, Scott.”

“But-”

I said no drugs, Scott.”

The line went quiet again and Stiles felt his eyes begin to sting. This was a mistake.

“Sorry, man, I have to go.”

He hung up before Scott could respond, deciding he could feel guilty about it later.

~

At the academy, he was on auto-pilot. Luckily, Stiles had come up with some of his best plans during the last four years on little-to-no sleep, so it wasn’t overly obvious to his fellow agents-in-training that he needed several cups on coffee just to get through the day.

It was obvious to someone though. Someone who clearly thought it was their sworn duty to haul Stiles over their shoulder in the middle of his third run to the coffee shop that day and deposit him in the back of their car.

Stiles wanted to protest - he should protest, call for help, maybe? - but he had had his eyes closed when the stranger grabbed him, had been drooling on a statue, leaning against it for moral support, as he had waited for his order.

Plus, the stranger’s arms felt nice.

In the back of his mind, Stiles couldn’t decide if thinking a stranger’s arms felt nice during a potential kidnapping - fuck, please don’t let it be a supernatural kidnapping - was because of his sleep deprived state or if that was just the way he was wired now.

It was only when a door opened and a familiar pair of eyebrows slid into the driver’s seat did Stiles begin to laugh. Hysterically.

“Of course,” he said, shaking his head and pressing his lips against the cool leather interior. Familiar hands strapped him into the his seat. “Of course it’s you, big guy.”

Derek just gave a slight huff and muttered something Stiles couldn’t hear, but it sounded an awful lot like, yeah, I missed you, too.

Stiles laughed again. It was crazy, what your mind came up with when it wasn’t functioning properly.

Russell T Davies on Steven Moffat

We do not know how lucky we are.

When asked to consider Steven’s finest moments, I was overwhelmed by images. Heores and villains. Battles and beauty. Monsters and children. Then I realised that I’d only got as far as 20 minutes into The Empty Child -round about the joke about Marxism and West End musicals - and had to sit down for a cup of tea.

I think, as fans, we can focus on the detail - Mondasian Cybermen! - at the risk of missing the bigger picture. That picture being, in Steven’s case, that we’ve just seen one of the greatest sci-fi body-horror thriller action-adventure romances (plus comedy) of our entire lives, beamed on to our TVs for less than 10p, written by a world-class master of his craft who’s now so in command of his talent, he’s riffing on ephemera from 1966 and turning it into gold, whisky, sex, whatever turns you on best. We truly do not know how lucky we are to have a man of this calibre writing our favourite show.

Since leaving Doctor Who, I’m approached, now and then, by strangers who remember my withered husk from Doctor Who Confidential. There’s a glint in their eye as they say, “What d’you think of it now?” An awful lot of those people are dying for me to trash it. I think, genuinely, they’re trying to achieve an intimacy. I think, nastily, they want me to say something bad so they can take it online and have some strange sort of fun. And when I say, “I love it!” they often think I’m lying.

I love it. I love every episode the man’s written. I love the other episodes he’s rewritten and I think few people know how many that is. I love the detail, I love the scale, I love the people, I love the jokes. I love the fact that Steven himself is quite down on The Beast Below. The whole of the UK on a spaceship? The whole of the UK is a spaceship? I’d retire there and then, complete. Nope, for him, it just wasn’t good enough.

I love the man, in truth, I love his mind, I love his standards, I love his rigour, his darkness, his kindness, his ambition, his love of TV. I love the man who wrote the very last line of Coupling, which shows what a lovely human being he is.

I love his women. Consider, in bad fiction, which is most fiction, how women’s roles, which have suffered so many years of neglect that they can be summarised as ‘women’s roles’, fall into the same old categories. They are reduced to the Mother, the Wife, the Daughter, the Bride. Agents of sex and childbirth, nothing more.

But then look at what Steven does with those categories. The Bride stands tall at her reception - literally in her wedding dress - and summons the Doctor back itno existence with an Old Maid’s rhyme. When the Bride has a Daughter, it’s a vital part of a galaxy-spanning revenge. The Daughter then becomes the Wife, a woman of such swagger and joy and tenderness, the Time Lord finally falls in love. We’re not done yet. A lesser category pops up, the Dominatrix, complete with eye-patch, but don’t worry, the Bride who’s the Mother of the Daughter who’s the Wife kills her stone dead! Then a lesbian travels the universe and everyone adores her. And nestling at the heart of the show is Doctor Who’s very own problem category, the Companion, a title inherently subordinate to the Man. Until Clara comes along! Companion to every single moment in the Doctor’s life. A woman so strong that in her first appearance, and her last, Death itself cannot stop her. A decade before Wonder Woman, Steven started weaving his own vast female mythology across the stars, in a funny old children’s show on Saturday teatimes.

I could mansplain all day, but the other thing I love in Steven’s writing is the complexity. I’ve heard some tiny, distant rumours that some people might have a problem with that. But I think it’s the very thing that will ensure Doctor Who’s logevity. You see, in the old days, us older fans fell in love with this show because it was porous. It had gaps. It was cheap, it was rushed, it was lovely and brave and unapologetic, using three walls in Lime Grove to create an entire Dalek invasion of Earth. All those gaps allowed us in. We imagined the offstage armies. We embraced the wobbles and bumps. If Sutekh had a secret hand on his cushion, we hooted, or invented a reason why (Clara!). But we either imagined it better, or saw how good it was underneath. Which is exactly like falling in love.

Now, the modern show has a lot more money. You can see those armies centre-stage. Gallifrey is so gorgeous, it has a spare city. Cyber-fleets can explode behind Rory’s head as a throwaway joke. And sometimes, a lossy show allows the mind the slide off. But Steven has created a brand-new porous surface. He invites us into the plots. He gives us stories which vault and somersault and double-back and trick and trap and treat. It’s not so much porous, it’s more like a great big spinning double helix and we’re clinging on, spinning for our lives, and yelling with joy. Yes, it’s complicated, but that’s wonderful. It will keep people thinking about the show forever.

Okay, my favourite moment? It’s my favourite joke. A Good Man Goes to War. Rory approaches River Song in the Storm Cage, and she says she’s been on a date with the Doctor, to the frost fair in 1814. “He got Stevie Wonder to sing for me underneath London Bridge.” And for a second, there’s that lovely shiver as you anticipae the punchline. “Don’t tell him.”

That’s a small momnt from a man who’s created empires. But a favourite joke is a beautiful thing. I just looked up the line and it turns out, I’ve long since paraphrased it, but that’s even better - like I said, Steven makes us part of the text, and now I own it! The point is, I think of that line every few days. Literally, a couple of times a week, every week. Every now and then, when I’m washing up or watching TV, or walking into town, or whatever, it pops into my head. “Don’t tell him.” And I laugh. I laugh, every single time. It’s been making me laugh for six years and it will make me laugh for the rest of my life. Very few people can write a line capable of that.

We have been so lucky.

Carolina

So, Harry has said before that his favourite song is Free Fallin’ by John Mayer, which as you may know is a cover of a famous song by Tom Petty. The opening line to Free Fallin’ is “She’s a good girl” - sound familiar?

Now let me draw your attention to another Tom Petty song (technically Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, he was in a band before going solo too) called Mary Jane’s Last Dance. If you don’t know it, you might guess from just the title that it’s about a woman, but the name Mary Jane might also make you think of a certain drug. Does this woman/drug ambiguity seem familiar?

Well as it turns out, the lyrics of Mary Jane’s Last Dance are quite thematically similar to Carolina. The opening line of MJLD is “She grew up in an Indiana town” vs the opening line of Carolina - “She’s got a family in Carolina”. Some other interesting lyrics:

anonymous asked:

hi! this is a bit of a strange question but i was wondering: how do you deal with fandom frustration? when you love fandom content but frequently feel frustrated by a large portion of the fan base? i'm a fandom baby in a lot of ways and sometimes though i feel like a jerk, it's so hard not to let other people overpower my experience. i love hearing your thoughts on everything in general, but. if you have the time i'd love to hear your thoughts on this as well. hope you have a nice day. :)

hmm! this is a great question and one I’m not 100% sure of how to answer, because for the most part I have had very positive fandom experiences. but when it comes to making your fandom experience as relaxed & fun as possible, here are my tips:

1) accept right now and forever that everyone does fandom differently, and everyone is in fandom for different reasons and to get different things out of it. it doesn’t matter if people don’t ship what you ship. it doesn’t matter if they write stories of which the summary makes you recoil in horror. they are not doing this at you. accept that you are going to do you, and everyone else is going to do themselves, and unless their shit spills over into your personal space (see point 3)) then there is literally no point in trying to control the fannish experience that anyone else is having. fandom’s a large space! there’s room for everyone!

so the thing to do is:

2) CURATE YOUR FANNISH EXPERIENCE. I’ve been doing this since ye olde days of livejournal and do it even more intensely now. essentially: find the people you like, and the parts of fandom you like, and carve out your own corners where you can hang with like-minded people. you don’t have to be right in the thick of it, reading everything, interacting with everything and everyone. you don’t have to track all the tags which are crammed full of stuff that annoys you. you can take it slowly, and be discerning.

if you want to read meta, find the people who write it and follow them. ditto art. learn to embrace ao3’s excellent search function, and to use a tumblr blacklist. if you want to read fic and are bemoaning the fact that none of it is quite what you want: write your own! enthuse about your ideas on tumblr! leave prompts on kinkmemes! befriend some writers! I have to admit I am still pretty lost when it comes making friends on tumblr because the etiquette is bizarre and variable, but hey: the messaging system exists, askboxes exist, comments on ao3 exist. sure, different people have different levels of openness to making new bosom friends, but nobody minds being engaged. we’re in fandom to be fannish, together.

3) if people are being jerks in your space, block ‘em. ignore ‘em. delete ‘em. I am not even remotely internet famous enough to be at risk of being deluged by trolls, but on the rare occasions that I’ve engaged in good faith and subsequently decided that I was being concern-trolled, I’ve noped cheerfully out of there. the few accusatory or unpleasant anon (because they’re always anon!) messages that have landed in my inbox, I’ve deleted without batting an eye. sometimes I share it with a friend via chat or email and we have a laugh about it, and that helps settle any residual hurt or irritation that I might feel. I’m a grown fucking woman. I keep a calm sympathetic face while being shouted at, cried on, confided in, manipulated, and projected onto, for a living. and I have zero qualms about policing the boundaries of the spaces I’ve carved out for myself–the fun, creative, relaxing, incredible places–in fandom.

4) manage your entitlement. just remind yourself every so often that nobody owes you the next chapter of that story, or the exact piece of art you want to see, or the paragraph-long comment, or the attention you crave, or the whole-hearted agreement you seek. remember that everyone has their own lives, and you’re never seeing the full picture. be gracious. be kind. try to resist the urge to snipe and snark and finger-point and complain in public; I enjoy a bit of fandom bitching as much as the next person, but I inflict it all on my friends, in chat.

5) the flipside of this is: show appreciation of the things you like. comment on that story. reblog that art with a furious tag spiral of capslock (creators LOVE tag spirals). put together a rec list–this is also a great way to show people what kind of things you like, so people who share your tastes know who to gravitate towards.

if you are frequently frustrated by a large portion of the fanbase, anon, then ask yourself: are you reading the comments? ie. are you making yourself engage with parts of fandom where people have THE WRONG OPINIONS and are writing your beloved characters THE WRONG WAY? if so: just scroll past. don’t read it. unless you really enjoy an argument, don’t feel obliged to reblog it with a detailed explanation of why they’re wrong: you’re gonna frustrate yourself and, yes, maybe end up looking like a jerk. just shrug and move on. maybe this isn’t the corner for you.

I have been following my own advice in this regard for almost 14 years. I’ve kept a handful of enduring and awesome friends from most of the major fandoms I’ve been part of, and I’m still making new ones, and I’ve (mostly) managed to avoid wank. I write what I like, and I read what I like, and I try to communicate generously and enthusiastically with people who are creating the things that I enjoy.

tl;dr - seek out the things that make you feel good, and follow them. weed out the things that make you feel bad, and ignore them. it’s fandom. it can be as serious or unserious as you like, but it IS supposed to be fun.

i get a lot of happiness trying to envision the conversation that started the shift from blue/gansey to blue/gansey/henry

  • blue and gansey are sitting alone watching tv or something. gansey is probably on the end of the couch, blue leaned against his side
  • both of them are thinking about it. they are thinking about it really quite hard. the tv is too quiet to actually be heard but they’re both so lost in thought that they don’t notice
  • finally blue takes a sharp breath “u know. henry’s pretty cool. actually”
  • and immediately gansey’s internal monologue is i know i know i know i know do you ever want to kiss him on his mouth i know i know i know
  • but out loud he’s like “yeah. yeah i like him a lot. he’s .. cool”
  • and blue nods. “yeah. cool.”
  • and they go back to silence. it’s a loUD silence. they both hear it. gansey starts tapping his fingers
  • it’s annoying but blue can’t even be bothered, she hardly notices
  • gansey opens his mouth to talk, though he doesn’t say anything, he just makes that noise where you’ve almost decided you’re gonna speak but then dont
  • blue turns her head too sharply “huh?”
  • “oh it’s just……….. you know. sometimes do you ever……… stop me if this is…… bad….. but do you ever…………….”
  • but he never finishes the damn sentence he just looks at her. he practically has question marks in his eyes
  • and blue kind of sits back a little
  • and she very carefully says “………… y..es……”
  • and he replies “….yes?”
  • as if to clarify, she goes on, “like…… henry……… he’s super cool….”
  • they beat around the goddamn bush for so long before gansey finally breaks, “DO YOU EVER WANNA KISS HIM TOO” and blue just shouts “YEs ” and then she kisses gansey
  • and then they go find henry and repeat the entire Talking In Circles “you’re just ……… really .. cool, henry……” process again , but this time it’s henry who flatly asks “is this about how desperately y’all wanna kiss me because believe me, i’ve Noticed”
  • and that’s that

Tumblr mom, what do you think of Harry Potter? One of my old teachers absolutely insists that I read them, and I tried but ended up highlighting every instance of the word "said" in the first half of the first book instead. The whole thing feels poorly written and I don't know how to reconcile that with the sheer number of people who love the series so much. I'm sure the storyline is fine, but the bland writing is so distracting.

For me, personally, Rowling’s writing has not held up well.

It was great when I was ten and twelve and suddenly reading about magic was cool and not liable to get me shoved into a locker as often, but even by the time the final book came out right before I hit my twenties, it felt…bland isn’t the right word, but rather, meandering.

The repetition of “said” wasn’t quite such a bad thing (as an editor, I’d rather you used “said” than completely fucked up your narrative dialogue by writing like you’re being bludgeoned to death with a thesaurus at your desk) but I was spotting things that could have been said in four paragraphs with some cleverly inserted narrative exposition, that were being said in entire books chapters that I honestly sort of skimmed through because I felt like I was reading an accompanying anthology companion, rather than the final installment to a book series I had been reading for well over a decade at that point.

A while ago I tried to go back and reread the series, and unlike other favorite childhood authors I had enjoyed, such as Tamora Pierce, it did not hold up well.

I’ll be in my 50s and 60s still returning to the Tortall and Circle series every summer, but I doubt I’ll make the effort to reread Harry Potter again. Which is a shame because they were a rather large part of my formative years, both with school friends and in online fandom. I still like the idea of the universe and I live for a lot of the really amazing things other people have done with the HP universe, but I have little desire to read anymore of Rowling’s work, personally.

I tried to read her “adult” novel The Casual Vacancy, and while it had really vivid moments, they were just that, moments—like frozen scenes of color in an otherwise muted world I could not get invested in. She also has a habit of over simplifying things to a degree I find irritating. There’s no real nuance to anything, and even when she tries at subtlety it’s a bit like performing a lobotomy with your kitchen silverware—all spoon and very little delicacy.

I may have perhaps been spoiled to her work by being handed Terry Pratchett novels roughly at around the same age, devouring what was then the entire series in the span of one summer like a mad thing possessed and I’ve been reading and rereading those books for the better part of 20 years now, and I’m still finding things I never noticed before. It’s hard to go back to Rowling after something like that. It’s a very simplistic form of writing—which is no bad thing! children need simple stories that tell them the world is not always what it seems and dark and terrible things can and will happen, but so long as there are good people, the darkness can be defeated. Children, and yes even us adults need that reassurance.

I just happen to think there are better authors out there who are able to reach much deeper emotional depths, with a far greater level of subtlety and skill—some of them are even writers in the Harry Potter fandom, who honestly connect and resonate with me in ways the canon never did. And that’s also sort of the thing to keep in mind with how popular the HP fandom is. The internet was a thing long before Harry Potter first came out, but it was becoming widely available in individual homes around about that time through cheaper dial up and the eventual mainstreaming of broadband. Suddenly fandom spaces were that much easier to be a part of online, and with that came a surge in fan created content (and lawsuits!) and certain popular fandoms positively thrived as a result. I can’t help but feel if HP had come out in the late 80s, it wouldn’t have quite so much the online presence it has now.

So no, it doesn’t surprise me that as a slightly older reader than I was back in 1997, the books don’t quite catch you the way they do younger children. But then I also feel the same way about Tolkein. Dear God I never want to have to read anything written by him again. Love the concept, love the world and the moments of pure shining brilliance and hope it has given me—and the fandom it allowed me to be a part of—but I’ll take Diana Wynne Jones over Tolkein any day, and be far more entertained in the process.

Actually, that’s not a bad idea. Try Jones, or heck, try Pierce. We might not have the same massive online presence, but we’re devoted, and with good reason :)

What I don't like about k/l shippers (tho I'm one and nowadays I'm wavering away from it) is how they treat keith. they always focus on the latter and treats keet like some joke or idk? I know Keith is somewhat problematic but also like shiro he deserves a break.

See, my thing is–I’m pretty sure there must be k/l content that still maintains Keith’s identity. Making a ship work without compromising either character’s agency is something up to each individual author or artist I think, so there’s nothing inherently bad with k/l. That being said, I’ve certainly noticed a trend in k/l fanon where Keith is just a reward to be given to Lance and the whole focus is on him. And I’ve talked about this a bit before, so I’ll just drop some points from that here real quick:

  • It kinda seemed to me like k/l fanon was always sorta more centered around Lance while Keith was just sort of his prize? I think it’s kind of because Lance is more relatable to a lot of people so it’s easier for fans to see themselves in his position
  • After season 2, it seemed a lot of people who liked k/l were mad that Keith got so much screentime and character development, as if it only mattered if either of those things happened in relevance to Lance or k/l and Keith shouldn’t be able to grow and develop on his own
  • And it made me kind of uncomfortable to see s/k scenes that were dismissed as platonic but then people edited Lance in and claimed the situation was suddenly romantic and these edits were praised as being so much better than the actual writing and well developed character interactions in those scenes we had gotten
  • While k/l definitely isn’t the only ship where fanon does this, I will say season 2 fanon definitely gave me the vibe that Keith was meant to be seen and not heard.
  • I’ve seen fans hate the BOM episode and even say that watching it was unnecessary, and claim that Keith didn’t deserve to be written beyond the flat, one-dimensional image we had of him.
  • But at the same time fanon loved Keith in the marmora suit because it made for a pretty picture, but Shiro often got replaced by Lance in fanworks even though it didn’t make sense because it was just “better”
  • There’s this idea perpetuated in fanon that Keith is just a pretty boy, someone who’s meant to be seen and not heard
  •  And I feel in a lot of k/l Keith is almost robbed of his agency to just have him act ooc.
  • In some fanon k/l I feel like much of Keith’s identity is sacrificed in favor of focusing on Lance. Canon k/l interactions in season 3 are much more preferable to me because you see them each develop as their own person apart from just how they react to each other

As for the second part, I’ve always been kind of confused by that. There’s this thing about characters being “problematic” that really unnerves me. Because no character is flawlessly good, you know? And if they supposedly are, then they’re not a well written character. And you don’t have to constantly be morally upstanding and perfect to be a good person. Keith’s raw emotion, his passion and drive and will to throw himself into a war to protect others–it all defines him. And maybe he’s not the infallible hero, but he’s so much more real, and that means something. He struggles with this anger he carries, yes.

He loses the one person who showed him unconditional love and support, who never gave up on him. So he lashes out in his grief, he loses himself in sudden outbursts, says things he doesn’t mean. “I don’t want to be the leader! That’s just what Shiro wanted!” it’s something he yells without thinking, because he’s just cut open and hurting–and he doesn’t know where to direct that anger, and it kind of coils in on itself and flares out. But then he quickly sobers, looks horrified at his own words and falls silent. It’s not Shiro he’s mad at. And it’s not his team. Not really. But it still feels like Shiro left and some part of Keith feels almost betrayed at that. It’s an admission that sort of slips out–that Shiro talked about giving up before and Keith resents that. Wishes he had never said that.

But he’s overcome by volatile galran emotion with no outlet–Shiro was always the one who calmed him before, and he’s struggling to navigate the fallout without him:

  • Joaquim: “He latches onto Shiro at times because Shiro’s sort of the only thing that can really calm him down and keep in check.” (source)
  • Joaquim: “[Keith’s] got this emotional side to him.”
  • Lauren: “It’s kind of exasperated by the fact that Shiro’s gone. Like he’s having a hard time dealing with it, he doesn’t really know how to feel. And I think he just goes back to that inner part of himself where it’s just—he can’t control his emotions. And that comes from the galra side.” (source)

Keith’s grief isn’t graceful or poetic or quiet understanding as he lets go. His loss is a storm–chaos and rage and broken shards. It’s throwing himself into a fight without concern for his team’s safety because he has nothing left to lose. It’s refusing to move on even if the universe needs him. It’s being reckless and relentless. It’s sitting alone in Black lion, “speaking” to Shiro as his confession. All the while ignoring that he has a whole team willing to listen.

And of course, I’ve been talking post season 3, but–we can take this mindset and apply it to all of Keith’s actions really. Because all his life, he’s been carrying some kind of grief. He has no family. For a long time, he had no friends. He says everyone else gave up on him. Looking at Keith’s character through that lens, I think a lot of his behavior people would label as “problematic” makes perfect sense. Loss has been a very real part of Keith’s life, his whole life–as opposed to the other paladins who are only just now experiencing it:

  • Joaquim: “I mean, he’s experienced loss–in his life, in his childhood. And Shiro is, I think more so than the other characters is his pillar, is like his big bro. So he felt that loss.“(source)

And I think it really says something that, despite all Keith’s suffered, despite how it must have felt like the universe was always conspiring against him, he still wants to do good. He has no family, grew up with no friends, and has to watch Shiro be constantly wrenched away from him. At that point, he shouldn’t feel like he owes the greater good anything. But “everyone in the universe has a family,” and for all of their sakes, Keith still wants to help. I can’t at all see Keith as “problematic.” I think he’s a victim of circumstance who genuinely cares about others and fiercely protects the people he loves. He’s a multidimensional character who has his faults and strengths, and I adore that. And I agree, he and Shiro do deserve a nice break. Someone let them rest please

i've been wondering a lot about hoseok and his dance background lately. do you know when he started dancing, what style he started with and which style of dance he has most experience with? also what dance style would you classify boy meets evil as? (sidenote: dance style of lie?) i'm bombarding you bc i know you have some experience in dancing haha sorry 1/ ~F

Also, I often see people saying that hoseok’s only good at street dance/popping and isn’t a versatile dancer (often when they compare him to jimin) but im just???? Yeah it’s true that hoseok hasn’t shown as wide a range of styles as jimin has but that doesn’t mean he’s not a versatile dancer??? 2/ ~F

Sometimes (esp during group dances), he doesn’t show his full potential; however, you can’t say that it’s his limit because he’s not /trying/ to outshine the others. Similar to that, if he isn’t showing you the whole range of dances he can perform, how can you say he’s bad? (I feel like this analogy is confusing. Feel free to ignore rip) Also, were these people sleeping during the spring day choreo or… ???? 3/ ~F

ANON you will not believe the noise i just made when i saw these messages in my inbox !!!!! i’d love to answer your questions fpasdlgh. just a heads up that this is gonna be long; i’m sorry, i talk a lot and don’t know when to shut up & also like listening to my own (metaphorical) voice too much sometimes

1. hoseok’s been dancing since freshman (?) year of high school and started out with street (x) while this is a considered a short time for professional dancers, i’m only exposed to classical art forms, so i’m unsure how that factors into this style (´~`ヾ) and yes, that means this is the base of his technique !

2. i would classify BME as 100% hip hop/street. although they can be seen as widely different genres, it’s a popular style that’s taken off these past few years in the dance community. it’s got street elements in it, but it’s more controlled, more polished. (also: yeah idk what “lie” is………..urban lyrical pseudo contemporary with modern influences?????????? lmao at this point hip hop has grown so much i’d just call it that)

3. fam i’m in the same boat as you! hoseok is a very versatile dancer :o he can adapt to many different styles, given that they’re not asking him to start doing fouettes or something.

  • his main style
  • a subgenre of street called “bounce” although they are both “street”, each subgenre is really different from each other & it’s not easy to pick one up. here, you can see the difference between hoseok and jimin during practice. hoseok goes deeper, lower, lighter, smoother, etc. his arms come up to near his chin when he lunges to the front & there’s no part of the combo where he’s simply arrived @ a position and then stays there; he’s always moving, always milking every step, always engaged
  • butterfly here, his musically is really strong bc he utilizes every part of his body in order to fill up the counts. you can really see the movement going thru every single muscle: the way his chest caves in, the shoulders, the hands, his head, the fluidity of his arms. as a dancer, you want every single action to be deliberate. you need control of even your fingers in order to constantly extend energy outwards, and hoseok takes that into account
  • arirang medley
  • perfect man (aka my life) is killer bc of the required speed/stamina; there is no break in this piece. if you get off you can’t get back in lmao and you can clearly see some members struggling with to stay on time with the footwork
  • am i wrong
  • spring day i 100% agree with what you’re saying about this piece !!!! there is so much going on here, and after watching all the individual fancams i wanna say that both he and jimin are the ones who shine the most consistently thru the entire dance.

the slide to the ground? hoseok jumps the highest, gets the most airtime. the roll up from the floor? he really pushes himself and utilizes his back flexibility & holds his core in order to make sure that his head is the last thing that comes up. i was pleasantly surprised to see him tackle this choreography, esp the move i just mentioned, just to see how he’d do. he really pushed himself with this piece, and i’m glad he got the chance to grow as a dancer; probably with help from jimin, as this is more his department.

the only qualm i have with him is during the wedge part where their left legs are going in & out, he needs to start pulling his left side over more …… he’s no longer square by like? the second step out n his ribs are reallllly swinging open fpfahdgt it’s kinda bothering me lol CLOSE UR RIBCAGE HOSEOK !!!!! i know u can do it

despite all of these pieces being different styles, you can tell that hoseok constantly strives to take the extra step above & beyond. he’s always looking for places where he can add Something More to the piece, even when it’s not given explicitly in the choreography. he gives it his All in hype dances, and that’s what made him stand out to me from the rest.

4. yes yes yes yes yes,,,, thank you for pointing that out! some people shit on hoseok’s dance king title because he doesn’t seem to stick out during groupwork and i’m here to tell you that 1) that’s utter bullshit lmao go ahead and watch all the solo fancams i assure you that he is Up There (debatable for certain dances, but he holds top 1 for fire & bst, no question) and 2) he might not go full out bc he’s dancing in a group.

what some fans forget is that he is part of a group, and the whole point when you’re part of a group is that you “take one for the team” and don’t treat it like a solo; you’re not supposed to stick out. even dance line 2.0 (namjin) don’t draw negative attention bc they bust their asses in order to keep up with the rest of the group !!!!!! BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO STICK OUT !!!!!

the whole point is that ur a cohesive unit doing one thing !!!!!!!!!!! you’re supposed to look the same !!!!!!! like…………if you’re really on balance during a performance, you’re not going to do six pirouettes. you finish the double like the rest of the corps, and you book it to your next step. groups thrive in unity, and if you can’t even give that up in order to get your limelight, then i’m sorry: you don’t deserve a solo.

this is why professionals always start out in the corps to prove that they can work well with others, handle the roles given to them, dance as a collective, and then use their work ethic/diligence to stand out during classes & rehearsals to show the artistic director that they’re ready to be promoted to a higher ranking. you demonstrate that you can handle a group environment before anything else

hoseok doesn’t outshine the others because that’s not his job, and that is not what he is there to do. he is purposefully coexisting with the group in order to make the dance look & feel cleaner

5. kinda going off the fourth point: i agree, once again. he still showcases that he’s pushing himself, but not to the point where he purposely outshines the others. the discipline that comes with purposeful restraint is often overlooked, and i would never slander a dancer for doing so. if i know how far someone’s able to go, i can also appreciate how far they reign themselves in.

ofc, there’s the rare moment when hoseok Really lets loose like the iconic extended choreo for fire during MAMA 16 and you can see how much farther/harder/faster/stronger/full out he’s going compared to the rest of the group. there was a comment that remarked how he made the rest of bts look like his backup dancers, and i can’t agree more. lol i ain’t even biased, just watch from 4:43 onward.

when he jumps, he jumps higher than the others. when he turns his knees in, his feet are spread farther apart than the rest of the members, even though the choreo is fast and the wider your stance is, the slower you’re able to move. he makes every step clear. it’s precise, it’s sharp. his arms move quick, but they hit every position. there is no perceived rush that comes with not knowing what’s coming next or being late

the usage of his head, the ability to go move so fast but still remain fluid (rolling through his chest, loose shoulders, placed arms), jumping farther, traveling more, generally taking up more space than the others w his limbs, making things look incredibly energetic, are all key factors that put him up on another level. yes, someone can move their head, but hoseok moves it further, yes, someone can kick their leg out, but hoseok kicks his further (even so that it’s no longer within his center of balance, and i genuinely fear for him)

not to mention!!! 9 minutes into killer choreography and he is still slaying the facials. his charisma is off the charts, and it’s clear that he’s having so much fun???? he engages the audience with his expressions & isn’t afraid to use it to work the crowd, which is something i’m missing from others bc (as with all dancers) they sometimes get caught up too much with technique instead of performance. also his stage-to-audience connection is Insane. it’s so hard to do it right w/o looking like you’re staring someone down or alienating them, so basically

the ability to keep up/go beyond with fast choreo while also making it engaging thru stage presence is incredibly difficult and is another factor that puts hoseok above the rest of bts in dance

L.Joe’s contract termination

Okay. Okay. FUCK. Okay. Hey guys, Valerie here. Sorry I’m writing about this so late, I just woke up after being sick. As you guys might have read, L.Joe has requested contract termination. Their contracts were going to expire in July I think, but their supposed “comeback” was before that, and L.Joe had requested the termination before it.

As you guys have known, or know now, Teen Top’s popularity is not the one it was when they debuted. Teen Top was topping charts when they first debut with ‘clap’. For a rookie group from a small company to do so as soon as they debut, let me tell you, it’s VERY rare. Nowadays it’s like it’s impossible. Teen Top were the first group debut under TOP MEDIA, and being the small company it was, it was obvious they didn’t have proper staff for management. It was commented multiple times under various Teen Top articles later on how the company didn’t properly support the boys when they had activities because they didn’t know what the fuck was going on themselves.

Teen Top then debut with Supa Luv, Be Ma Girl, Miss Right and other bops. They were all hits since they really suited Teen Top’s image, and very very much liked by the Korean Netizens. Everything was going on pretty well. But then, TOP MEDIA, being the underdeveloped and clueless company it was, decided to send Teen Top overseas. This is where the problem starts. Sending your artists overseas is nothing bad, but doing so when their fandom is still stabilizing in Korea is a BIG MISTAKE. The same this was done with NU’EST. They had a great debut song, topped charts, but were sent to overseas and then their popularity dropped to the ground.

Shit like this happens, and you can’t always have the same crowd cheering you on when you come back. Other groups would debut and would desperately want to take your place, which they did, hence Teen Top was nearly forgotten when they came back.

Their popularity took a positive turn when they came back with Ah-Ah, as their M/V hit 5 million views rapidly and was even re-tweeted by B.A.P’s Zelo. They won awards, and promoted a buck loads with it. If you have been an Angel when they came back with Ah-Ah, you would see how much they promoted. They even went to Japan and did a full concert.

TOP MEDIA then gave them the song Warning Sign. I’m not going to lie, the song was not my taste, and it wasn’t the taste of the K-Netz either. Their comeback showcase was highly praised, but at the end, no one payed attention to their song and it was a flop.

TOP Media has also not given any other members any opportunities. Ricky and Changjo have had very few lines in songs, and rather than helping these two improve, they were constantly pushed to the side. When they revealed their nearly debut song ‘Love Comes’, an Angel commented “Ricky has many lines!” All of them laughed, including Ricky, but he must’ve been hurt so many times when it was revealed he would be having very few lines in their song, especially their title songs. Chunji was given musicals, and he is the main vocal of Teen Top, so the opportunity was handed to him, of course. Changjo struggled himself (and NOT with the help of TOP MEDIA) and participated in a few rap shows (they showed him as a rookie, even when he’s 7 years into debut, just because they no longer know who he is). Niel was given another comeback, rather than changing up the game a bit and doing something differrent like giving rapper line a chance, having them promote as a duo. TOP MEDIA’s investment in Teen Top became less, and became more with UP10TION.

UP10TION were given 3 comebacks, all of them hits, while Teen Top were just in the corner waiting for their turn. This has happened to Teen Top before, too, when they had to wait an year long for a comeback. How much more patience do you think the boys have left in them to go through the same process again? I would’ve quit. But the boys stayed together, because they want to.

L.Joe dropped hints as soon as this year started. He changed his Instagram I.D last year, and then just posted old pictures of him and his brother and/or just his dogs. After seeing all this, I told @kittybear-jellycat that something was off. During the Lunar Year Greeting, L.Joe didn’t seem to be himself, there was just something… off about him. You could tell there was something going on. I DM’ed him, and told him I was worried and hoped for his mental health and his safety. L.Joe then made his Instagram private, but then he made it public after news articles started reporting on it.

I’m guessing L.Joe was in Japan promoting his movie, and he seemed to look very happy when he met his fans at the airport, but at the end of the day, he is NOT happy, he doesn’t want to be an idol who goes through an yearly cycle of just one comeback, whilst other groups comeback frequently and rise to the top. He was worried about his future, Teen Top’s future, so he requested contract termination.

If you want to know, yes, I want L.Joe to leave the company. As difficult as it is for me to say it, I want him to leave it. But I also want the other members of Teen Top to leave. I’m sure L.Joe wants to stay together as Teen Top, and Teen Top has replied that they want to stay together with L.Joe. I just want everyone of them to terminate their contracts with TOP MEDIA. Leave TOP MEDIA and their growing bias towards UP10TION and their coming girlgroup. Teen Top is strong as 6, and they deserve to be treated better than how TOP MEDIA was treating them.

Thank you for reading.

Uncle Mod, help! I really want to love the new Ducktales, but the designs are so very different from what I'm used to- and I'm worried their version of Gladstone will be without the depth he's developed in the comics I've read as a European. I don't want to be 'one of those' fans though, I really do want to like the new show. How can I see the new Ducktales like you do, with such enthusiasm?

Oh gosh anon that’s a toughie, and I really do understand, but the way I come at it is this- all adaptations of the duck family and their stories are exactly that; adaptations and interpretations. Different visions of similar themes- or, as I like to think of it, different realities of a cartoon multiverse, aka AUs!

Even if they have a lot of similarities, the original Carl Barks-style Scrooge is quite different from the old Ducktales cartoon version of Scrooge, in both design and character. Neither is invalid, but they come from worlds apart and can therefore be seen as two separate characters.

Donald is perhaps the best example of all: you have the original animated screwball-type Donald, the old comics version, the modern comics version, a freaking secret super hero persona version, and do I need to mention KH?

You said it, Donald.

Anyway, I think approaching the new take on Ducktales in a similar way to this is the best method, so while we might be used to this version of Gladstone-

we have to remember it all started with this version!

I know. Wow.

So yes, the Ducktales take on the characters is different, and always has been, but that doesn’t make it bad, and it in no way replaces or invalidates the comics! In terms of Gladstone’s new design I think they really built from the old Ducktales cartoon design more than anything; so perhaps seeing him as a hybrid of the old Barks personality and that cartoon’s visual is what to expect.

But whatever the case, it’s a stand alone adaptation! A separate dimension from what has come before, which will neither replace nor delete what we’ve known- nobody can take what you see as the ‘true’ duck universe away from you, that’s something unique and special to every fan. I think it’s both very brave and wise of them to go their own way with the look of this show, partly for this very reason, because it makes it easier to see it as an Alternate Universe, and accept it for what it is- something new, but grounded in something timeless and beloved by the people making it. If you like, see it as the duck world making a TV show based on their local celeb, Scrooge, and the new characters as duck actors representing the characters you know and love!

Wait, so I'm confused, do you hate RT or not? Like you blog about them constantly, but also you seem to take very serious issue with them (mainly that thing about the editor work review)

This is a pretty loaded question. I love RT with all my heart, I really do. It’s been my main source of entertainment for years, and it’s how I met almost all of my internet friends. If you take a look around my room, it is literally plastered with RT posters and half my closet is RT shirts. Really, my blog is dedicated to it. So yeah, I like RT.

However, they make plenty of choices I don’t agree with. We’ve all seen the drama surrounding Kathleen, Shane, and RWBY. The common thread between all of them is how RT treats its people. Employees seem overworked and management seems incompetent. There isn’t much thought put into the people, which frankly, bothers me. When looking at other reviews of RT on Glass Door (the site that original work review was from), they all pretty much say the same thing. It’s a fun place to work but there’s no room for career growth and you’re always overworked. There is no paid overtime despite how many hours the animators are working. Another review on Glass Door said that “people would pay to mop our floors,” and its true. I bet there are some fans out there that would absolutely do it. However that doesn’t excuse the fact that their actual employees should be compensated for the work they do. Not everyone is Monty Oum and can sit in front of a computer and animate for 80 hours a week, and that’s not a bad thing. Just because some of your employees are young and starstruck to be working at RT doesn’t mean they should be allowed to take advantage of them by underpaying and overworking them.

In addition to the way they treat their employees, I also don’t like the queerbaiting within RWBY. From promising us there would be LGBT characters from almost the day the show started coming out, to now, 5 years later, there has not been a single character revealed to be LGBT. Nothing. Not even in the background of the dance. They could have casually had boys dancing with boys, girls dancing with girls. Whatever. Instead, every time the question is brought up now, Miles hides behind his cover of not being comfortable with writing relationships, despite Jaune/Pyrrha and Nora/Ren both pretty much being canon by the end of volume 4. Its frankly disgusting and honestly only the tip of the iceberg for the list of problems I have with RWBY. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t love the show. I still will watch it and enjoy the parts I can.

I also despise RTs strategy of just letting everything blow over. RT is literally allergic to giving a statement in regards to anything controversial surrounding it. And you know what the worst part is? It totally fucking works. Eventually, people forget about the discourse and it all gets swept under the rug. Burnie has even talked about it on the RT podcast before (when the Fine Brothers were going through that React World thing). From a business standpoint, its a great idea. However, as a fan, that really fucking sucks. I want to hear a “sorry” from them every once in a while or an acknowledgement of things they have screwed up. Even this year, I’ve heard RTX was a shitshow. Ticket prices are higher than even some of the most popular conventions. Lines are unbearably long (to the point where some people were having medical problems). Some people waited almost the entire day on Friday to get their badges. However, we’ve heard nothing from RT apologizing for how the convention was run this year and I doubt we ever will.

Don’t idolize the things you love. Don’t put them up on a pedestal. Don’t think that they can literally do no wrong. RT is a company made up of human beings, who screw up just like you and me. They’ve messed up before and they certainly will again. When they do fuck it up, it’s our responsibility to call them out on it.

I love the passion you put when you talk about Benedict C. So I would like to know 5 things you love about him (physically or his personality) take your time. Thanks!

Hello! This kind of ask is always so hard to answer! But also fun, so sit back and relax…it’s going to be a long one!

Personality: I have had a few celeb crushes throughout my years and none have ever stuck, quite like Bc and it’s because of his personality, his charisma. I have never seen a celebrity as real as Bc is. This dude can’t hide his dorkness to save his life and I love that. He’s not pretending to be goofy or nerdy, this man IS a legit dorkus malorkus. And he’s never ashamed of that. Sure he can pull it together to be suave and sophisticated when needed, and who doesn’t love that kind of ‘batch that swoons are made of, BUT he can’t hide his playfulness and his childlike wonderment for the world around him.

He’s photo bombed, he’s been moved to tears, his PDA with Sophie because he’s so proud to have his girl beside him is just so sweet!!, and if he’s outraged, you bet he’s going to have his say. This man manages to move about the world like nobody is watching him, even when all eyes are on him!! and that to me is amazing. He is always himself.

Regardless of what is happening in the world, Benedict always comes across as being grateful for being alive. I’m sure it has to do with his near death experiences that make him really live the life he’s always wanted. You can’t just throw the word privileged out there and say well he grew up privileged and so he had the upper hand in the world. I don’t agree with that. I know people who have had all the privilege and done nothing with it. I know of people who have had nothing and have accomplished so much. It all comes to how you see the world, and Bc knows there is bad in this world, he knows we as global citizens are in trouble, but he doesn’t let that stop him from living and working, and from lending a hand via monetary, personal items, vocal or his time, to support whatever charity causes he can so they can get things accomplished. That is the power of Benedict Cumberbatch. He just cares and he is always trying to be the best human being he can. I don’t practice that a lot in my own life, but watching Bc and supporting him, it gives me so much encouragement to keep living and to keep striving to be the best person I can be and to always stay true to myself.

His Work Ethic: I think if anything is synonymous with the name Benedict Cumberbatch, it’s gotta be his work ethic. The man never seems to take a break! He goes from one job to the next and he still manages to fit in time with this family. But most importantly he builds up rapport with everybody he works with. The Collective have never heard a bad word from anybody that has worked with Bc. His costars seem to grow to love him and I mean how can ya not…just read above and try not be Cumberbatched! To me, Bc doesn’t just see this as a job, as a career that he’s in to make money. He loves  to act, he loves to research and learn all about what and whom he is playing. He doesn’t just put on the Belstaff coat and bam! Hes Sherlock, he doesn’t just put on the Cloak and bam! He’s Doctor Strange, he didn’t just do Smaug’s voice in a recording booth and call it a day. He actually got on the ground and became Smaug, he used his entire body to create that voice.

When Benedict uses his entire body to make the characters come to life it is just amazing. Listening to Cabin Pressure, he is Martin Crieff!! You can’t see him but just hearing him as Martin and imagining that he is the hapless but well meaning young pilot who’s always getting the short end of the stick and being bested by Douglass. It’s more than just the pitch of the voice or the accent, it’s more than just the costume he puts on. You HEAR it, you SEE it through his eyes, his hands, his facial expressions. Using all of the body’s movements and senses, that is the Cumberbatch way! Because he takes becoming these characters very seriously, he works damn hard at creating this world of fiction to come alive. Even more so when he is playing somebody who existed in real life, like Alan Turing and Billy Bulger.

Anybody can act. You just walk in, learn the script and repeat the words, right? Well not if yer Benedict Cumberbatch. That man will walk in, learn the script, ask questions, repeat the words and floor everybody in the room, because he gets right into the heart of what the character is feeling and thinking. He made me fall in love and sympathize with his Richard iii, he made me cry when lil Charles was getting berated by his mother, he made scream in pain at stephen’s first look at his damaged hands and he made me wish I could hug and comfort his Alan, at the thought of him losing his Christopher. So yes anybody can act, and anybody can work at acting, but you have to be Benedict Cumberbatch to be able to pull it off, flawlessly!

His love for Sophie: We all know that Bc is such a romantic. He learned it from watching his own father adore his mother. Bc made it known early on that what he wanted more than a successful career was to have his own family. To be married and be a father. To add children to enhance his already growing and rich life. He finally found that with Sophie Hunter and nothing in this world makes me happier, than to see Benedict with Sophie. You cannot deny that the boy has it BAD for that girl and that is why he put a ring on it and started banging out (pun intended LOL) Cumberbabies with her!!

You cannot tell me that when Bc floated down that red carpet with Sophie during the Oscars 2015, it was only because he was excited he was nominated for Best Actor. NOPE. That man floated because he was carrying sunshine wherever he went and that was because not only was he was being recognized for his work, but mama was carrying precious cargo in her belly. Of course Benedict’s work makes him happy, but the life he created with Sophie, the children they have, is what keeps that sweet man going because it’s all he’s ever wanted and I’m so glad and grateful to Sophie for keeping our boy full of sunshine that it radiates from his entire body and it affects us all in the most beautiful ways. He and Sophie make relationship goals more than just a hashtag. They make it a must for all that believe that true love is real and available to all those who seek it :)

His Face: The eyes. Those lips. That hair. And the cheekbones you could cut yourself on! sighhhh I don’t have fancy words to describe Bc’s face. All I know is that when I look at his face, the words ugly, weird, alien, otter or sloth never come to mind. I see beauty in it’s most perfect form.

The Bc during Sherlock s1 was so young and fresh and pretty but as the years went by, the young and fresh went to dramatic and breathtaking to older and wiser and to tired with stories to tell. Benedict is an age chameleon. In his middle 30s he could look in his early 20s. Now in his early 40s he can easily look as if he was in his late 20s! He can make Sherlock look like he’s been through hell and back, (not to mention the sexiest fucked up of a mess that shezza can be) and he can make Sherlock look at peace and happy like that little pirate he once was before his innocence was drowned.

Bc can go from model ready for the cover of vanity fair, to hipster hanging out with friends, or to dad on casual day at the office. He is the man with a thousand looks and faces and all of them are beautiful and real. Bring on the age because I can’t wait to see how much more this man will drive us wild when he’s in his 60s!

His Humanity: All the things that I mentioned above, would not be possible if it wasn’t for Benedict’s humanity. He thinks and applies being altruistic in all that he does. He cares about his fans, he cares about the world, he cares about speaking out for those who don’t have a voice. His humanity is what generates through him to project and promote, togetherness, love and understanding. His humanity is what makes him the most attractive human being on this earth.

To be a member of the CumberCollective is something special. I don’t always follow the right path and I shoot my mouth off way too much,( I can’t help it, it’s who I am lol)  but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about my fellow human beings. It’s hard for somebody like me to care for people when people have been shitty to me my entire life, but Benedict makes me want remain on this planet and to be a member of this group of fans that are better than me, that can show me the way to try to be a better human being. I fail so much at that, but having friends in this fandom that practice that and get it right on a daily basis (like @elennemigo  and @sobeautifullyobsessed ) seeing Benedict interact with his fans at events or even on the street, these things matter to me and it helps me to see that the end of the day, even somebody like me, just might be…human :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Pre-Klance (or is it?)- First Impressions

Here’s a headcanon I’ve been really keen to post for a while. Why? Coz the amazing @edelwary has gifted me with fantastic fanart for it!

This headcanon came about as I was just thinking about Voltron, as I usually do (far FAR too often), and I was once again considering just how Lance and Keith interacted (if ever). I have had many ideas about this in the past, but I suddenly thought of another, and the following is the result.

Apologies for any mistakes (I literally found three before I posted this)!

Before the cadets were put into certain courses, all of them must have trained for at least several months. Lance was just above average, since although he WAS a good pilot for the majority of the time, his streak of crashing brought down his grade a lot. His teachers had tried to advise him on how to improve, but it was just too technical for Lance to truly understand what he should be changing, whilst they couldn’t afford to allow Lance to monopolise their attention.

At this point, Lance had started to worry about his assignment. No matter how hard he tried, it never seemed to make a difference. He just couldn’t see what was going wrong.

One day, his class’ instructor was on sick leave, so the Garrison decided to merge two classes for the day, thinking that the change might actually be beneficial for the trainees as they could watch others’ mistakes and successes. When Lance discovered it was Keith’s class, he felt equally optimistic. Boy, was he mistaken!

Despite being in completely separate classes, Lance had heard of Keith. Of course he had, he was the shining prodigy of the Garrison. Lance had even managed to occasionally see Keith, though always at a distance, yet his aura had always felt so serious and unapproachable. Lance shook the thought from his head as he caught the end of the instructor’s usual lecture in flying procedures.

Lance had felt an odd mixture of dread and gratitude when it was announced that they would be doing flight simulations. Now was his chance to watch Keith first-hand. He didn’t have to wait long, as after a few mediocre performances from his classmates, the instructor called for Keith to show them what they should be “aiming towards”.

Lance had expected him to be good, but he had also expected the rumours about him to be exaggerated slightly, as rumours often were. They weren’t. Lance wasn’t sure if the praise did him justice. He handled the simulator as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Keith piloted as if the ship was a part of himself, effortlessly pulling off quick, smooth manoeuvres, barely batting an eye at the readings his craft relayed to him. In fact, he barely glanced down at the controls at all, obviously having memorised the entire layout of the simulator. Instead his gaze remained almost entirely locked on the view in front of the ship, eyes darting quickly as he assessed possible dangers. Lance realised with a shock that Keith had to be working out all of the distances in his head since he seemed to barely peek at his sensors.

A gentle elbow in his side caught his attention and he tore his gaze from the monitor to find Hunk, a classmate whom he’d bonded with quickly over the year, attempting to hide a smile.

“You might wanna close your mouth, Lance.” Feeling his cheeks burn, Lance snapped his mouth shut, turning away with absolutely no trace of a pout on his face. None.

The sound of the simulator door opening drew his attention and he watched as Keith waltzed out as if he hadn’t, no doubt, outperformed some of their seniors. Whilst the next cadet was called up, Lance sidled up to Keith, clearing his throat a couple of times to get his attention.

“Can I…help you?”

“Yeah, if you don’t mind, could you watch my flight and give me some feedback?”

“Um, I don’t know if I can say anything to hel-“

“No, don’t worry! You obviously know your stuff, so this will be a piece of cake!” Lance didn’t notice Keith’s concerned look, nor the uncertain scowl that came across his face as Lance returned to Hunk.

Keith was in an odd position. He’d never been asked to assess someone’s flying before, and was wondering how to go about it when the cadet in question was called up. Before he headed inside the simulator, he turned his head to send Keith a smile. Why had he asked Keith? He was aware that he was top of their year, but he had no experience in advising others, nevermind critiquing them. Yet Keith did watch. He paid more attention than he normally did when he observed his classmates.

At first, Keith was a little confused. The cadet was obviously a competent trainee pilot. His reaction times were good, the time he took to read his sensors and equipment was actually quite a bit less than others in their year. Even his manoeuvring was pretty good, only a couple of close calls and small adjustments needed from time to time. His flying was certainly not textbook, but Keith didn’t think this was much of a problem, seeing as it still produced the same results. Then the last part of the simulation started.

The Garrison put a lot of effort into making sure their simulations weren’t monotonous or predictable. After all, how could cadets improve if they were only learning to fly one course? Until a few years back, the simulation had been changed for every class, but due to Matt Holt’s work on the system, the simulation was now comprised of randomised components of flight courses, which would change for every simulation. Now the cadets that flew last had no advantage from watching their peers’ performances.

Personally, Keith thought that the course was pretty decent this time, that maybe there would be nothing to critique as the course wouldn’t challenge him enough. Apparently it was challenging enough for the cadet, “Lance” the display read, and honestly Keith was lost as to why. Upon starting the final stage, Lance’s control had suddenly become jerky, and Keith watched as Lance focused solely on the screen, not glancing down at all as he had been during the rest of the flight. The most likely reason was so that Lance could judge the distances and dimensions himself, yet his gaze would only focus on the obstacle he was immediately facing. With each obstacle, the time in which he had to react to the next hazard diminished steadily, until at last, the inevitable happened.

Lance clipped a wing on an outcrop, sending his craft in a vicious downward spiral. Keith winced as he watched the short descent. He had only been a few hundred metres in the air. He had been so close.

Keith went over the flight in his head as Lance trudged out of the simulator. Keith hadn’t seen a crash in a long time. Everyone had managed to learn to avoid full collisions after half a year of training. He watched Lance’s shoulders rise up to his ears as he slumped under the assault of the instructor’s criticism. He noted that they didn’t even mention his commendable flying up until the descent. They seemed too distracted by the crash and the awkward movements to mention anything else.

When, with a long-suffering sigh, the instructor dismissed him, Lance nodded politely before quickly merging with the crowd of students. Keith’s attention left the simulator as the next cadet stepped up. What advice could he give Lance? Keith knew what he’d have done differently whilst Lance had been flying; turn slightly sharper in places, decelerate more before doing certain moves. However, when it came down to what Lance had struggled with, the descent for landing, Keith was lost. He had no idea what was running through Lance’s head as he had gradually lost control. Was it panic? Overconfidence? Keith just didn’t know.

Thankfully, Lance didn’t approach him during the rest of the training, giving Keith more time to think over what to say. However, when they were dismissed, he was no closer to an answer than before. Maybe Lance had forgotten. Maybe Keith could get away without embarrassing himself with his inability to help. He knew he should’ve argued more against it.

To Keith’s dismay, as he left the room his gaze found Lance’s as he leant against the wall. His smile was not as bright as it had been earlier, though, given his scolding, that was understandable.

“So,” Lance started, “what do you think?” Keith wished he knew, he really did.

“What happened?” Keith watched as Lance’s brows drew together at his confused tone. Keith hadn’t expected to say it, but honestly, he didn’t know what else he /could/ say. How was he supposed to give advice, when he didn’t understand what went wrong.

“W-What do you mean “what happened”?! Weren’t you watching?”

“Of course I did. I just don’t get why your flying got so bad at the end.” Lance’s eye twitched at Keith’s words.

“If I knew why, I wouldn’t be asking for your help!” Lance retorted before taking a breath. “Look, if you don’t want to help, just say so.”

“It’s not that-“

“Then what is it? Could you see what I’m doing wrong.”

“Well, yes, but-“

“So why won’t you tell me how to fix it?”

“It’s not that simple! Like I was saying, I can see what you’re doing wrong, but I don’t know /why/! You started off so well, but suddenly-”

“-What do you mean I “started off well”? Didn’t you hear the instructor?! They said that I couldn’t fly like that!” What? It had looked fine to Keith. Then Keith remembered his thought on how the style of flying was a bit unorthodox. Were the Garrison that strict? Well, when he considered their drills, he mentally scolded himself for ever wondering. Of course they were.

How could he help, then, if the part which he had thought to be good wasn’t right?! Keith had always flown as was taught. After a few months, the movements had become instinctual and now he barely had to think to perform most manoeuvres. He tried to recall how it felt in those first few months, yet he could think of only one way in which he had improved.

“Practice.” He started as he realised he’d spoken out loud again. A jaded laugh brought his attention to Lance’s face. The twisted grimace on his face sent a pain through Keith’s chest, and then Lance was walking away, long legs quickly carrying him down the corridor. “Where are you going?!”

“I’m sorry for wasting your time!” Lance’s tone was devoid of its previous friendliness. What? “Obviously I just haven’t been trying hard enough if practice is all I need to get better,” Lance turned his head, not enough to make eye contact, but enough for Keith to watch his mouth as he continued. “Thanks, Kogane.”

“Listen to the teachers! They know how to help you!” Better than Keith did, anyhow. Again, another laugh sounded as Lance approached the corner.

“Another novel idea! Why did I never think of this myself?!” Then he was gone.

Keith stood there for a few more moments, his surprise and frustration with Lance shocking him into freezing. Then he turned and stalked off to his quarters, feeling bizarrely exhausted despite having done nothing strenuous. Why wouldn’t Lance just /listen/ to him?! He was just trying to help. He had warned him he didn’t know how.

Keith shook his head. At this rate, he’d never be able to rest. He firmly shoved all thoughts of Lance and his flying to the back of his mind. He had other things to worry about than a cadet he had only just met. As Keith found out over the following months, this was easier said than done.

At first, Keith thought he was doing a good job of forgetting his encounter with Lance, except, every time he thought as such, he’d groan as his thoughts circled back to him. Occasionally, he swore he heard his classmates mention Lance, which wouldn’t surprise him as crashes had been so rare since the aspiring engineers and technicians had stopped their pilot training.

There was nothing wrong with Keith thinking about Lance. Nothing, but he still wished he could stop. Eventually, through stubborn determination, Keith managed to put the encounter out of his mind, and his life carried on in the Garrison as it had before.

However, when his instructors started commenting on a change in his flying, Keith became concerned. They assured him it was fine, that is was a sign of his natural affinity for flying. Yet, when he watched his simulation back, the style of his flying was noticeably different, yet strangely familiar. He knew that flying, and yet it wasn’t his style. He had never attempted something so different from what he was taught. Turns out that the Garrison really didn’t know best. Still, Keith felt restless with the knowledge that he had /seen/ that pattern of flight before, but he was unable to recall to whom it belonged.

He started watching his classmates, and yet none showed any signs of the new style he’d adopted, but if it hadn’t been anyone in his class… Keith’s eyes widened as the memory of the joint training came back. He struggled to recall the cadet, but his features remained stubbornly blurry in Keith’s mind. Damn his bad memory!

As he was walking, he heard a commotion ahead and he looked to discover a crowd gathered around the notice board. Someone near the back took pity on Keith and explained that the results for the pilot assignments were announced that day. Keith turned to walk away, having been informed of his new fighter pilot status by his instructor that day, when he stopped. Striding back he struggled to the front, ignoring the complaints as he squeezed through. He traced his eyes over the list of fighter pilot names. Although he didn’t know the name he was looking for, he was certain he’d be able to recognise it.

Just as he was giving up hope, someone shoved him from behind. He fell against the board, catching himself on his arms and was just about to glare at whoever had pushed him, when his gaze locked onto a name beside him. Lance McClain. He straightened up and looked to find that it was on the list of cargo pilots. He grimaced in sympathy as his memory of Lance’s desire to improve came back. He wished he could’ve helped somehow.

Now that his irritation had worn off, he only felt annoyed with his incompetency. He should’ve tried to word his thoughts better, but…maybe…. If he could help Lance now, he might stand a chance of moving up to fighter class training. Maybe then Lance wouldn’t have to face him with such a cold attitude. Thus, whenever he had a few hours to spare, Keith would go to the records room to request to watch the footage of Lance’s simulations. He was eternally grateful for the officer not asking him any questions about his odd choice of footage.

At first, it seemed like Keith might be wasting his time, as he continued to puzzle over Lance’s odd behaviour. Then, slowly, it started to come together. He originally had thought it might have to do with Lance’s perception of the depths shown in the display, because no matter how brilliant the simulation was, it still didn’t feel quite real. After all, they were trying to create an illusion of distance on a flat monitor.

Then, as he noticed the timing of Lance’s reactions, he realised that was not the case. Instead he finally thought he recognised the problem. Now he just wanted to know for certain, so he held back from approaching Lance until he watched more footage.

In the end, however, Keith never went to him. For a week later, the Garrison officially declared the failure of the Kerberos mission, and Lance was swept from his mind under the maelstrom of emotions the news churned up. In the end, he couldn’t cope.

Keith started rebelling, since the Garrison /had/ to be lying. There was no way Shiro would just disappear from Keith’s life like that. Despite his constant demands to see evidence that the passengers were no longer out there, they had refused to release any further information. So Keith had to make them admit the truth. Except, in his volatile state, Keith failed to recognise the consequences his actions would have. He paid for his lack of insight with his place in the Garrison.

It didn’t matter. He didn’t want anything more to do with the Garrison. He completely forgot about the cadet he had wanted to help. The cadet whom he had believed had potential to be a great pilot. He forgot until, almost two years later, someone barged in on his rescue mission.

He held back his exclamation of “Lance!”, realising that he had no idea that Keith had actually paid him any attention after their first, and only, encounter. Instead he played dumb, only acknowledging his cargo pilot status. He felt awful for forgetting about Lance, especially after finally working out how to help solve his problem. However, as Lance corrected Keith, informing him that he was in fact a fighter pilot because of Keith’s expulsion, he found himself sagging slightly in relief. At least he had still been able to make it. Obviously Lance /had/ trained hard over the past two years to become good enough for him to be the pilot to move up in class.

“So, wait a sec. You’ve remembered our first meeting this whole time?! Why did you never say?! I just thought you’d forgotten about that day.” Keith cleared his throat, feeling extremely awkward after the confession.

“I didn’t think we got off to a good start, so I was hoping that by acting ignorant we would be able to start over.”

“Only for me to hold a grudge… I mean I /would/ apologise, except you hadn’t really given me a reason to believe you had actually cared about me. Ah! Not /cared/, just… at least regret what you’d said,” Lance quickly muttered.

“Yeah, sorry about that, but I really wasn’t used to social interactions,” Keith admitted with a quiet laugh.

“No kidding!” Lance’s smirk forced the corner of Keith’s annoyed pout to twitch upwards. Damn his infectious smiles. “Hey, wait! You mentioned that you actually worked out why I kept crashing. What was it? You never said.”

“Oh, you just couldn’t visualise the craft.” At Lance’s blank look, Keith rushed to elaborate. “I noticed that you wouldn’t rely on your equipment to figure out distances, instead relying on your sight. Then I realised that most of the crashes were caused by you clipping one or more of the wings. I wondered whether, despite the fact we learnt the dimensions of the craft the simulator was imitating, you didn’t actually realise how big it was. For example, if I said to point out the length of twelve metres along that wall, would you be able to do it?” Slowly Lance shook his head, and his eyes widened as he started to catch on what Keith was saying.

“So, what you’re saying is…”

“Because you had never /seen/ how big the craft was, you couldn’t actually work out how much space it would need inside the simulation.”

“I can’t believe it was something so simple. Well, I suppose it doesn’t matter now that we’re flying for real! Which reminds me…” The glint in Lance’s eyes felt incredibly foreboding. “I’m never gonna let you forget that I was a better pilot than you!”

“…what? You barely ever got through a simulation without crashing!”

“But, like you said, that wasn’t because I didn’t have skills. No, you definitely admitted that when you copied my flying, the instructor complimented your technique, or rather /my/ technique! They thought /my/ technique was better! Oh, this is just great!”

“Wait a second! I never said I copied you! I just adapted my own sty-“

“Nope! You cannot deny it! I am the better pilot!”

“Oh? Wanna bet?” The two had now stood up, Keith’s arms crossed over his chest whilst Lance leaned into his space, his hands resting on his hips.

From the other side of the room, the green and yellow paladins watched with varying degrees of exasperation.

“Weren’t they supposed to be bonding?” Pidge asked as she looked up at Hunk.

“What do you mean? This /is/ how they bond.” Pidge opened her mouth to state just how bizarre that sounded when she stopped to think for a second. She sighed as she realised the truth behind Hunk’s words.

“I’m not sure if they can ever have a conversation without it ended up with them arguing.” Hunk nodded solemnly in agreement, and with one last look at the two who had begun to arm wrestle, for whatever reason, as they argued on, the two of them left the red and blue paladins to their antics.

Fin.

anonymous asked:

can you explain to me what happened between exo m?? who was the closest when they were all together and then what the heck went down between them after all the shit??? I'm new and confused and just want them all to get along :((

Okay so this definitely isn’t going to be the post you deserve, with links and videos and pictures and just general receipts because I have to get to old navy to spend my super cash so consider this a Sparknotes Edition of the History of Exo-M that is just completely based on my memory.

So I’ll start with debut even though it goes way before that. Exo-K and Exo-M were…a conundrum to a lot of people. 2 groups making the same albums and music videos but in different languages with different members. It didn’t go over well tbh. Not to mention, SM ONLY promoted Exo-K like…exclusively. They had opportunities galore while Exo-M was just…there. Not to mention Exo-K were very timid and awkward at the time, like if you watch their debut stages, they were smol and nervous.

And then, every so often. Exo-M would get an interview or a random performance in China. And they were the COMPLETE opposite. They would be like, “the member next to me is easily the handsomest man I have ever seen with my eyes, let me tell you about it for 10 minutes.” Like they were just a lot of fun and got along great.

It’s even SUPER hard to say who got along the best. Maybe Yixing and Luhan. They were actually Good Friends, even to this day, and not because they had to be. Luhan said he had a special chat or phonebook or something for his Real Friends from back home, but Yixing was still part of it. Tao and Kris were super close too. Tao would talk about how Kris would protect him from ghosts and stuff. Actually, Kris and Yixing were really close too. They were pretty open about how Kris would defend him against bullies during their trainee days (which I’m questioning the validity of now because in Yixing’s book he talked about getting sent home by SM for a while because he clocked another trainee in the face omg). But keep in mind, pre-2015 Yixing was a different guy entirely. He was ultra-Soft™ and was kinda the “mom” of the group and Kris was really wild about him. Xiuchen were very reserved back then. I know Min and Lu were close because of the same-ageness and they played soccer together, but they showed it more after the 2 groups “merged” sorta. Jongdae was very quiet and shy back then (it took awhile to get to Modern JD) and I think people didn’t know what to make of him because then he’d get on stage and unleash these MONSTER NOTES and wow but also he didn’t know where he was most of the time??? (He trained for 4 months and got thrown into Exo of all groups for God’s sake). He was closet to Min, obvs, but Yixing too, because he said he helped him the most with learning Chinese. (That’s why their 2 years of coldness was such a shock to everyone.)

Mama era, despite their lack of notoriety, was kinda the golden age for them. They were well-liked by the public (for the most part, Tao got a lot of hate), and won an award for most popular group and it was SO EMOTIONAL like they played a video to recognize everything they had been through in their rookie year and Yixing was BALLING and they were all so close.

Then it was all downhill from there. It’s not confirmed or anything, but it’s as close to fact as we’ll ever know that Kris decided that boyband life was not for him after Mama. It’s speculated that he just disappeared for a long time, that’s why the gap between Mama and Wolf was so long. When they came back, it was as 12, and they finally started to take off. The M members weren’t really the same towards him. Not cold, but not the same. Tao found a new leader to obsess over. But really, it was just a way to make Exo-M fizzle out because, surprise, SM did not know what the hell they were doing in that market. Thus began Exo’s rise with Growl, but the domino effect of Chinese members leaving.

In 2014, it spilled by a random source that Kris left the group. And SM was like uh no he didn’t? But then a few hours later, turned out Yes He Totally Did. And one week before their first tour! Exo were…pissed to say the least. Tao got online and posted a big rant post calling him a liar and a betrayer. Suho published a letter (though it was probably SM honestly) telling him to a) get back home b) apologize to them and c) apologize to the fans and Kris was like nah on all 3 counts.

I’m not going to get into the particulars of him leaving because that’s a whole different story, but the response kinda spoke volumes on how the remaining members felt about him. They had a press conference and they were all dressed up and spoke about it and Jongdae dropped his iconic “The ground hardens after the rain” comment then they went on a Chinese variety show (super popular but the name escapes me rn) and talked about him and cried and yikes.

One thing that was noticed in retrospect is that Luhan didn’t show the same amount of emotional hurt as the others. Because you can guess who was next. But Luhan’s departure was a lot…smoother for sure. He looked bad, point blank. Everyone was very concerned about him, members and fans. Exo’s schedule was demanding a lot out of him and he couldn’t keep up. He was bleeding from his eyes on stage. He missed a ton of their tour dates. Then, he came back for the final show, and looking back, Exo knew 100%. Yixing and Jongdae were very very close to Luhan the entire show. Then he left and it was much less of a shock, still shocking, but less so. Yixing pretty much got on weibo within a day and said he still supports him and they’re brothers. Soon after, Luhan and Kris were spotted shaking hands, so Lu was and is on really good terms with everybody.

Fast forward. Exodus. The pathcodes were dropping. Everyone was excited. Tao was in one stage, and then he was not in anymore stages. He had severe leg injuries and SM did NOT care. A few months went by and people had no clue if he was in the group or not. Then came the letter from his dad. He cited that SM made him do stunts which got him badly hurt. Fair. But then Tao’s dad had to bring up how a CERTAIN CHINESE MEMBER got a studio in China while he didn’t. Bad. If new and improved Yixing ever talks to Tao again, I’d be surprised. So, with Tao out of Exo, he had to take back everything he said about Kris. Long story short, with tears and all, Kris did not care lmao.

So here we are today. SM still does not know how to have Chinese artists. Luhan’s pretty much cool with everyone. He and Tao see each other a lot. Yixing straight up does not care if he’s seen with Luhan or not lol. Zyx doesn’t extend the same kind of interest in Kris when they’re at public events. Your guess is as good as mine if they’re on good terms.

As for Min and JD, well, they’ve got each other. I have no idea if they keep in touch with the former members. I like to think they do. They were even kinda cold to Yixing for a long time, but I think even they’re sick of this Exo-K focus while calling it Exo nonsense. They’re starting to stick up for M and Yixing and good on them! So…that’s what you missed on glee.

A Birthday Date - 707 x MC [Fluff]

[Chatroom]

11:30pm

MC : Guys? Are you there…?
Yoosung : Oh, hi MC! I just logged out of LOLOL to check the chat room for a bit. What’s up?
Jumin Han : Good evening, MC. Did you need anything?
MC : Ah, well, I was just wondering if any of you are free tomorrow?
Jaehee Kang : Hello, MC. Mr. Han has a full schedule, while I might be working till late into the night.
Jumin Han : But if it’s urgent, I can always have Assistant Kang clear my appointments in the afternoon.
Jaehee Kang : (╬ Ò﹏Ó) Mr. Han!
MC : Oh no, Jumin, it’s fine, you don’t need to do something that extreme ;;;;
ZEN : Hey~ Mmmm I have a rehearsal in the morning, but I don’t know if my manager has anything planned for the afternoon. Is there an occasion tomorrow?
Yoosung : I’d love to accompany you, but classes go on until 7pm tomorrow. Oh! Could it be your birthday?
MC : ….. yes. (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
ZEN : Happy Birthday, MC! (◕‿◕)♡
Jumin Han : It’s in my calendar, but I seemed to have missed it. I’m sorry, MC. And Happy Birthday. (♡˙︶˙♡)
ZEN : LIES. You totally don’t have it written down, Trustfund kid! (#`Д´)
Jumin Han : I do, you can even ask Jaehee.
Jaehee Kang : ;;;;;;;
V : Hello. Happy Birthday, MC. I’m quite busy as well, but if you want to celebrate, I could make time for you. (´• ω •`)
MC : You don’t have to, if you guys are really busy though! Your greetings are enough for me. I mean, we can always celebrate for another day, right?
Jumin Han : But wouldn’t it be less special if it’s not on the day itself?
V : That’s true.
MC : But I don’t really want to bother, so… also, it’s so sudden, so it’s okay! ;;;;
Jaehee Kang : Oh, MC. I would like to spend the day with you as well if I could… but as it is, I could only also wish you a happy birthday.
Yoosung : Seven’s not around, but have you tried asking him yet?
MC : He might be busy. He’s not answering calls atm. Oh, but it’s getting late, I don’t to keep everyone up! Good night!
Yoosung : Good night, MC!!
ZEN : Sleep well, jagi~
Jumin Han : Good night.
V : Night.
Jaehee Kang : Good night, MC. Don’t stay up too late. :)

You hadn’t expected to be woken up on your birthday so early in the morning on a summer day, let alone by your doorbell… Who could it possibly be, anyway?

Still a bit grouchy and dazed from sleep, you lazily headed to the front door and was surprised to find Seven outside your door with a bouquet of roses and a sleek box in hand. He was dressed casually, unlike the last time you had seen him at the RFA party where he wore a suit. His red hair was slicked to the side neatly, a silver earring sparkling on his exposed ear, and a boyish grin was stretched across his lips.

“Happy birthday,” he greeted you, his gaze gentle for a moment before taking in your appearance. A chuckle escaped his lips. “You look like you just rolled out of bed.”

“I just woke up!” you admitted with a light blush on your cheeks. You reached out to take the bouquet from his hands, smiling slightly. You hadn’t received many bouquets in your life… You took a whiff of the roses’ scent… only to realize it was made of candy!

“I figured you could still eat it, in case you weren’t a fan of flowers,” he explained when he noticed you stare at the roses. Seven handed you the box as well. He winked as he said, “Hurry up and get ready for our date!”

You stared at him questioningly, a bit confused. Rather, how did he know it was your birthday anyway? He hadn’t spoken up last night on the chatroom… Then, it dawned on you that he worked in the hacking profession, after all. Your smile widened as you thought of how sweet it was, for Seven to drop by in the morning just to take you out. You were already happy enough that one person remembered… and even more pleased that it was Seven, of all people.

He waited patiently in the living room as you tried to rush through your morning routine, not wanting to take too long. When you opened the box, you found a cute, black satin dress inside, and you realized it was meant for you to wear today.

You quickly slipped into it, slightly worried if it wouldn’t match you, but when you checked yourself out in the mirror, you felt more than satisfied with what your reflection showed. Damn. Who knew Seven had an eye for picking dresses? (Oh my god, but of course, he does cosplay, after all…)

You practically twirled out of the bathroom, eyes shining as you showed off the dress. You were beaming as you thanked him, “It fits me perfectly! Thank you so much for my birthday present!”

Seven stuck out his tongue playfully. “That’s not your present, silly. I’ll give it to you at the end of our date today, okay?”

He held out his hand, gesturing for you to take it, and then led you out the door. A blush rose to your cheeks. He’d said it again. He was calling it a ‘date.’

Actually, the two of you weren’t going out. At the same time, Seven often made jokes about these things, too… You didn’t know if you should get your hopes up or not. As far as you were aware, you had a one-sided, small crush on Seven. Ahem, emphasis on SMALL… After all. But you didn’t know if he felt the same, even though there were so many instances that it seemed like he liked you back…

“Are you okay with me taking you out today?” Seven asked you as he guided you to his car.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Well… you might have wanted to spend the day with other friends. And everyone else in the RFA is busy today… S-sorry that it’s only me.”

“I’m happy that I can spend my birthday with you,” you admitted quietly, then put on your seatbelt as he started driving. He didn’t comment on your response.

Gazing out the window, you took in the scenery. It was the usual city scape, but it wasn’t too sunny, with clouds lazily rolling across the azure sky.

“So, where are we going?“

“I was thinking of taking you to an amusement park first, but do you want to go anywhere? I’m up for ideas,“ he glances slightly, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he beamed at you.

“Seven, you do know that I’m wearing a dress, right?“

“Oh, don’t worry about that. There’s a cap and a denim jacket that’s big enough that you won’t get too hot,“ he tries to reach for said items with one hand on the wheel, but you stop him when he swerves just before you almost collided with an oncoming vehicle.

“I-I’ll get it, just please, focus on driving!!!“

“Ahaha, alright, alright.“

Your first destination was a trendy cafe that was well known for its artsy cakes and tasty breakfast sets. The shop interior had a cute but homey vibe to it, cream-colored walls painted with sunflowers, while the glass panels were decorated with yet more flower doodles. It also featured a teak wood flooring, and a vase of summer flowers adorned each table.

“Wait here,“ he says as he leads you to a seat by the window, in which you decide to watch the people outside as Seven orders your food.

He returns after a while, slipping a strawberry frappucino and a cake in front of you. The cake was the size of a cupcake; it had a blue to purplish mirror sheen to it, a sprinkling of edible silver glitter, while three yellow candy stars and chocolate bark graced the top of the confection.

“Seven, this… this…!“

“… is not your present. It’s brunch cake, so eat up!“

“Brunch cake? You’re feeding me cake for brunch?“

“Why not? It IS your birthday.“

“For real?“

“Nah. I ordered something else, but they’re bringing it after a bit,“ placing his hands under his chin, he avidly watches your reaction as you go from awestruck to confused, to wanting to just stare at it.

“Can I at least take a picture first?“

“Go ahead~“

The food arrives after a few minutes, and the two of you bond over a conversation about common interests, with him making exaggerated gestures, making you laugh at his antics. Brunch had gone longer as expected, but it never seemed as if it did.

Not soon after, you arrive at the amusement park, with you making a beeline for the roller coasters and other attractions, skipping the horror house despite him trying to convince you to enter it.

There were times when either of you would unconsciously touch each other; an arm around your shoulders, you clinging onto one of his arms, handholding… it just felt natural.

You stayed on until the theme park’s stage performance and parade, singing along to songs that you knew the lyrics to, and then making up weird lyrics on the ones you weren’t familiar with.

There was a fireworks display at the end, and you just couldn’t help but look in wonder as they bloomed brightly under the night sky. You’ve seen countless displays like these your whole life, but it was the first time that you watched it alone with someone you liked.

Seven watched you as your eyes shone in amusement, memorizing each and every expression that crossed your face. He had come close to confessing to you many times throughout the day, but he held back, knowing that today was all about you having fun on your birthday.

The confession could wait for another time.

“Hey. You want to see something cool?” Seven asked, one corner of his lips quirked upward as he side-glanced at you while driving.

He didn’t actually wait for you to respond before he pressed a button, and a screen in the car roof slid aside, revealing the stars glimmering in the night sky. That was surprising– it was summer, and it was rare for stars to be so bright at this time of the year.

“On our next outing… we could go stargazing, if you want to,” he murmured softly, the tips of his ears red. He was blushing, and he sounded almost insecure as he’d asked you that– did he think you didn’t like him? Was he really that oblivious?

You stopped looking up at the stars, instead leaning closer towards Seven. “I’d love to,” you replied, making sure he caught your gaze. You resisted the urge to also say, because I love you.

The car slowed to a stop, and you turned your attention outside to take in your surroundings. The… beach? At this time of day?

Nobody was around… Not to mention the fact it was a private beach.

“Um, Seven… I don’t know if I want to be breaking laws on my birthday by trespassing a private beach,” you brought up to him, nervous.

He looked at you like you were crazy, and threw his head back in laughter. “Don’t worry about it. I wouldn’t make you do that, not tonight, at least,” he winked, “Do you trust me?”

You nodded without hesitation. No matter how casual and joking he acted, you knew he was a serious man with good morals in the end.

He pulled out a blindfold from the backseat, then held it towards you, indicating for you to wrap it around your eyes. Once he made sure that you couldn’t peek out from the blindfold, he turned off the car engine, got off the car and walked over to your side to help you out.

Although you trusted Seven, you were still a bit scared because you couldn’t see anything through the blindfold. “S-Seven…?”

You heard him chuckle, “Shh, just trust me.”

You felt yourself walking onto the beach sand as your shoes sunk in with each step, and the distant sound of waves rolling ashore made its way to your ears. Seven suddenly stopped in his tracks and moved behind you, untying your blindfold which slipped away as– BOOM!

An involuntary gasp escaped your lips as the noise startled you, and your eyes raised to the shining fireworks overhead which spelled: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Five figures splashed in the water, jumping out from hiding, revealing Yoosung, Jaehee, Jumin, Zen and V. They were soaked, but had huge grins plastered on their faces as they waved to you, screaming “happy birthday!!” and “you’re getting old, MC!”

They walked over to you, and Seven threw towels at them, with Yoosung complaining to him that he was freezing because you guys took too long to arrive.

“I-I thought you said you were busy?” you stammered, feeling touched that they had organized all this. (You were sure that those fireworks must have been expensive AND difficult to set up… )

“We’re never too busy for you, jagi~” Zen chirped, grabbing a gift bag from the sand. “I hope you like your present!”

You accepted it with a smile, and peeked inside the bag. “What is it?”

“I got you a blanket! Ahaha, I know it’s not much, but you’re always complaining about having stiff shoulders since you’re so busy…”

Yoosung pushed Zen aside with a huge rabbit plush toy in his hands. “Well, I got you something cute,” he bragged. “Although, it’s not as cute as you, of course!”

Zen clicked his tongue at the younger boy, annoyed with his interruption.

“Behave! It’s MC’s birthday,” Jaehee scolded them, huffing. She turned to you with a pleasant smile, softly saying, “Happy birthday, MC.”

She handed you a carefully wrapped present.

“It’s a planner that doubles as as sketchpad,” she explained, “so you can jot down your ideas whenever and wherever you are.”

You thanked her, and then Jumin walked closer, grabbing your attention with the bag in his hands. You recognized the brand immediately, and your eyes widened, knowing it would be pricy.

“I hope you’ll enjoy your stay at my private beachhouse. The others worked hard to keep it a surprise. Anyway, I got you a pair of red stilettos. It’s not much, but I do believe in the saying that great shoes will take you to great places. And of course, I only want the best for you.” He smiled warmly, handing you the bag.

You turned to V expectantly, who had a self-satisfied grin on his face.

“Look!! Isn’t it so cute~?” he said, excitedly holding out a cactus with multiple buds in a cute pot.

You didn’t actually know what to do with the cactus, but you thanked him anyway… It was a very V-like gift.

“I’ll start preparing the food!” Yoosung suddenly exclaimed, running off to the car.

Jaehee and Jumin offered to help, while Zen and V began setting up tables and seats.

Seven tapped you lightly on the shoulder, the moonlight shining down on his rouge locks. The dark of night made the atmosphere intimate between the two of you, and you felt your cheeks heating up as you kept staring at his face, admiring his long eyelashes and piercing eyes.

“I hope you haven’t forgotten about me, have you?” he teased, raising an eyebrow.

You shook your head, not trusting your voice to answer him.

He reached behind his back and held out a small box, and for a moment you wondered if he would propose, but you reminded yourself you weren’t even in a relationship and mentally punched yourself for even considering it.

You slowly opened the box, which revealed a sterling silver necklace with a winged moon pendant. You glanced up at Seven, who was staring intently at you for your reaction, and you quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed by his gaze.

He noticed the way you averted your eyes, and he laughed quietly in amusement. His fingers made their way under your chin, tilting your head upwards so you were forced to look him in the eyes.

“For my final birthday present to you… would you mind if I gave you a kiss?” he whispered.

You felt your eyes flutter shut in anticipation, and his face drew near your own… It shocked you a bit when his lips brushed softly past yours, and you expected more so you leaned in further, only to be met with the feeling of air.

Opening your eyes in confusion, you noticed how Seven was smiling mischievously again.

“Now now, MC, not when the kids are here~”

You remembered that you were in front of everyone in the RFA, and immediately backed away from the redhead, your cheeks redder than his hair. As you tried to escape him by moving closer to the others, his hand caught your wrist, stopping you in your tracks.

He moved past you, murmuring softly in your ear, “Let’s continue on our next date, okay?”

He cast a meaningful gaze as he jogged over to the others, leaving you to stand there on your own, a big smile spreading across your face. ‘Next date,’ he had said. Seven had basically confirmed that he liked you, and that filled you with a relief like no other.

You had received a lot of gifts today, but this simple fact was a much better birthday present than all of them combined.

Naturally, when two young celebrities play lovers on a movie or television show, everyone would speculate that the two are dating or eventually will date. You had a long contract with Marvel ever since you were fourteen. Your character had been introduced as Tony Stark’s daughter in Iron Man 2. Now in Civil War being your third movie in the MCU, you were finally shown a love interest. And that was MCU newbie, Tom Holland.

In a panel for the new Captain America movie, your characters’ romance had been a main topic of interest for questions. “Tom, did you have to read with (Y/N) when you first auditioned?” A fan asked. You shot up and glared at Sebastian Stan, the only person whom you shared your secret attraction towards the British actor.

Tom smiled a little. “Oh, yes. I did read with (Y/N) but it wasn’t my first audition. It was when they had their final choices and they had each one of us read with this lovely creature.” He swung his arm around your shoulders and many fans awed at his notion.

Sebastian cleared his throat and your eyes widened giving him a warning. “Fun fact that not everyone knows, but they had a hard time decided who to choose so they asked (Y/N) who she thought she got along with the most. She chose Tom.” You felt a light blush creeping onto your cheeks as you awkwardly pulled away from Tom.

“The other guys were old enough to be my dad.” You sassed, making the crowd burst into laughter.

“This one is for (Y/N), actually.” A new fan questioned after being handed the microphone. “And well, Tom can answer as well, but did the on-screen romance transfer to a real life one as well?” Your jaw clenched, thinking of an answer that wouldn’t give away your huge tiny crush on Tom.

“No.” You said, softly. “We’re Just Friends.”

What you didn’t see was how Tom slouched back into his seat, his confidence draining. Did he read into your signs wrong? You leaning into him for comfort, Sebastian and RDJ encouraging him to court you, you resting your head on his shoulder after long car rides? Was it all because you thought of him as just a friend?

After the panel, you all disbanded to look around the convention and take pictures with any fans. You noticed how distant Tom had been from you throughout the day and whenever you tried to talk to him, he always found something to preoccupy himself with.

A little girl came up to Tom and hugged his leg. Her mother chased after her, scolding her and apologizing.Tom shook his head and said it was fine before scooping the child up. “Hey, there.” He smiled at the girl.

“Can Peter and (Y/C/N) be my mommy and daddy?” She asked, looking at him with starry eyes.

Before Tom could bluntly reply a no, you came up to the pair and smiled at the little girl in his arms. “Of course, baby.” You cooed as the three of you posed to take a picture. Tom handed the girl back to her mother and quickly excused himself to go check out the Spider-Man booth that sat across the convention. “Are you avoiding me?“ You questioned, grabbing onto his arm before he could leave.

“Course not, buddy.” He replied. You looked taken aback by the name. Never in your time of knowing Tom have you ever heard him call you buddy it had always been angel, love, or lovely. “What? Isn’t that what we are? Friends? Buddies?”

Your shoulders sank down. “Did I offend you?” You asked. “If I did, I’m sorry for saying the truth. We’re just friends, Tom.”

“What if I don’t want to be?” He snapped. Your eyes widened as you encouraged him to go on. “I like you, (Y/N). It’s a massive crush. When I was called back to read with you, I was so afraid that I’d mess up because you made me so nervous. My palms are sweaty when you’re near me and my heart beats faster than it should. And for you to say that we’re just friends hurts because I thought you felt something more too.”

He turned to walk away from you but you pulled him back once again. “(Y/N) don’t-” You cut him off by standing on your tip toes and pulling him into a kiss. You pulled away after a few moments, raising your eyebrows at him. “You did that ‘cause you feel bad for me?”

“I did that because I don’t see you as just a friend.” You muttered.

In the distance, you couldn’t hear them, but Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan were giving you two knowing looks while Chris Evans had his jaw dropped. “Here’s fifty bucks, fellas.” Chris Evans said handing the two the green paper. “I thought he’d for sure make the first move.”
