Set in S13b on a quiet night in the hospital, Amelia needs to share some news. The start of this fic has been sat in my drafts for like… a year?! And I finally found a reason to finish it.
Inspiration is a funny thing. I can stand and look at a brain scan for days on end and… nothing. Nothing will come to me; no answer will hit me like a brick to the face, no bulb will suddenly light up in my mind, and no neurons will ignite a fire to get my thought process to where it needs to be.
I remember Derek once calling me up and telling me (or rather, bragging to me) that he’d managed to solve a brain tumour by playing baseball on the roof of the hospital with Lexie Grey. And let’s not forget the time he thought he’d cure the lame with a design he’d seen from within his toothpaste spit.
Brains inspire me. I see their function, their shape, their texture, their abnormalities, their capabilities; I see the brain and get excited. So as I stand here and a rush of adrenaline courses through my veins, I immediately need to share my joy at having solved the brain tumour I’ve been looking at for weeks now.
“I’m amazing!” I turn around to Edwards only to discover she’s no longer there. When the heck did she leave? I look to the clock and discover it’s half past two in the morning. I’ve been standing here for longer than I thought trying desperately to work out how to simultaneously do two operations in one - one requires the patient to be awake, the other asleep. It’s impossible. Obviously. But I think I’ve come up with a fix. I just need a sounding board. That’s why I need Edwards.
I sweep my eyes over the scans one final time, narrow my eyes and purse my lips.
Your my art crush. I really want to be as good as you someday. How did you get started or have you been drawing your whole life? I'm a late bloomer when it comes to anything artistic. Do you recommend any 'how to draw' books?
Heyyy:) I started drawing about 3 years ago, when i just played Mass Effect trilogy series. So.. YEP, definitely Mass Effect and Commander Shepard brought me here. This game inspired me in so many ways and I really wanted to express how I felt & release them. I think all people have their own aesthetic stands and it doesn’t matter when you find yours. So I’m sure that you’ve already got your artistic senses, and you just choose drawing as the tool to release them. Anyway, no more boring talk, here comes some references for you:)

Can I ask for a Jared Leto imagine? Where during an interview he admits that you’re his muse
AN: I used Joker as the movie bc let’s be honest we all want more
“Hey guys, we are back with Jared Leto talking about his new movie, Joker, that hits theaters next Friday,” Jimmy Fallon greeted the audience. “Jared, right before the break we were talking about the insane character you have to get into to play the Joker.”
“So what do you do to get into a role that is so demanding?”
“It’s tough, I kind of have to exile myself during filming. Once I get into Joker I like to keep in character to stay as messed up as I can for as long as I can. He’s so complicated and intense that once I get into the role you have to stay in it so you don’t lose any part of him.”
“And on Suicide Squad you pranked the cast. Did you do any of that this time?”
A sneaky smile took over his face, “Ugh, yeah, I did. Not to the level I did to get into the role originally but I couldn’t pass up pulling some pranks.”
“How do you exile yourself and pull all these pranks while balancing your band and other projects you’ve got going on?”
“Well once I started working on Joker I kind of seclude myself from all the other stuff so I can stay focused. I talk a little bit with the guys from the band but my girlfriend, Y/N, is great and she acted as kind of my agent while all this was going on.”
“She did, that’s awesome. You and Y/N have been dating for, what, two years now?”
“Yep, two years. She’s the one who inspires me to get into my roles, especially with the Joker. He’s so complex that she helped push me in the right directions, she gave me the space I needed to keep in character, and she snapped me out of it when I was going a little too far. I guess I’d call her my muse.”
“Your muse, that’s sweet!”
He giggled and leaned up in his chair. “Yeah it is, but it’s true. She does a whole lot for me, she inspires me everyday, and I’m very lucky to have her.”

“I like to think about the first law of thermodynamics, that no energy in the universe is created and… none is destroyed. That means that every bit of energy inside us, every particle will go on to be a part of something else. Maybe live as a dragonfish, a microbe, maybe burn in a supernova ten billion years from now. And every part of us now was once a part of some other thing - a moon, a storm cloud, a mammoth.”
