OtaYuri fic recs #8

Another batch of recs! Enjoy! (¬‿¬)

It’s the Life We’re Living Now by vivevoce, mature, 35.8k

“… Did you know you still give me boners?” Yuri asks seriously. Otabek is startled into an incredulous snort. “Don’t laugh, you asshole! It’s tragic and inconvenient and probably going to last until we’re old and can’t get it up anymore.”

“I’m touched,” Otabek replies tonelessly. “You have such a way with words.”

“Yeah, I know.” Yuri grins, all sharp teeth. “Feel free to swoon a little closer into my arms. And on top of my crotch?”

“Fuck off.” Yuri can hear Otabek’s grudging smile, even with his back turned.

“Baby?”

“No.”

“Zhanym?”

“Gross.”

One Hundred by kiyala, explicit, 4k

Otabek is in St Petersburg to visit. Yuri is determined to kiss him one hundred times in one day.

Yuri comes down with a bad cold and has to take a break from training. That gives him lots of time to think about the relationship with his best friend and is he maybe not just his best friend?

“Olympic medalist, Yuri Plisetsky (18), has been linked to fellow figure skater, Otabek Altin (21), since his first Grand Prix Final win at 15. While speculation has been rampant about the nature of their relationship, this is the first evidence captured by the press confirming the rumors. Sources say—“

or, Otayuri getting caught up at the club, and then getting caught at the club.

Sweet Summer Mornings by thelonelywriter, excplicit, 10.1k

The skating season is over, and though that sucks, the fact that Otabek is planning on visiting St. Petersburg definitely makes up for it.

Don’t Talk the Talk by MadameFolie, explicit, 912

….if you can’t walk the walk. And don’t make your victory hashtag ’#kissmyass’ if you’re not prepared to make good on it.

Let the Record Drop by BoxWineConfessions, explicit, 2.7k

“Okay,” Otabek walks back over to the daybed, and kneels beside Yuri. Carefully, Otabek combs Yuri’s hair back and away from his ears. “No one’s ever gotten a private show before.” His voice wavers as he talks. Like he thought it sounded cool and second guessed himself while he spoke.

Otabek opts to interrupt himself, and kiss Yuri instead. It’s not like their previous touches. It’s thick and stifling, and Yuri’s painfully aware that he’s very naked, and Otabek is very not.

“I hope you like it,” Otabek breathes against his ear.

It makes Yuri shiver, and arch up into the other man. Otabek slips the headphones over Yuri’s ears.

Agape: Ursa Major Mix by momothesweet, teen, 2.2k

Yuri finds out about Otabek’s secret hobby after a night out at the club doesn’t turn out so well.

Eros (Grizzly Remix) by momothesweet, explicit, 2.3k

Otabek utilizes his hobby when it comes to fooling around with Yuri in the bedroom.

The dirty, dirty sequel to the much tamer Agape: Ursa Major Mix.

Ravenclaw here, and feeling uncreative and wishing I could think of unique ideas. I did well in my studies this semester, all A's and B's and it was really a confidence booster, but I decided that over break I would write something amazing and I can't think of anything. Any words of wisdom, Caitlin?

My suggestion for writing is just to write all the time about everything. Even if you think it sounds dumb or boring, write it down. Keep a notes tab in your phone, carry around a little journal. I find that if you sit down with a pen and paper and go “ok amazing idea, come to me!” it’s a bit like that scene in spongebob where he spends hours on the word “The”. Yeah.

Sometimes you gotta challenge yourself too. Like if you find yourself in a rut, change your pace. Write about something random, the first thing that comes to your mind. Write continuously for like ten minutes, and then read it back. Take your favorite line and write about that. Keep going. Even if you don’t find inspiration today or the next day, don’t give up. I mean, if you want a teeny bit of encouragement, Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and Mark Rosno was trashed a DOZEN times before they got inspiration. It took Lin Manuel Miranda six years to write Hamilton.

Inspiration comes. Trust yourself and don’t give up. Write all the time. And if you need a break, take a breather. Walk away, close your tabs, get in a different head space.

You’ll get there eventually. I promise.

Me every time I begin to write a new one-shot: I’ll keep this one short. Under 2000 words. I can do that.

Me two hours later: Oh, this is so gonna be longer than 2000 words.

Yeah, not even halfway with “Just the Basic” and it’s already 2000 words. I just can’t do it.

Also me: Remember, this is a fluff one-shot. You write fluff. As quickly as possible, give them the fluff scenes.

Me two hours later: Lol, let’s give them 2000 words worth of angst first. What’s fluff? Never heard of it.

I’m hopeless.

oh oh. I’m def placing my bet that Simon Peacock dude is actually Miles Upshur bcz pls look at him. Paul asks him if he’s protecting Waylon Park and he replies with a “you’ll never find him” and that means I get to keep my possessed-journalist-protecting-his whistleblower head canon. xD Woo!

to be honest i had my own reservations as well about this person being simon peacock, but also i have a lot of doubts about any of the things pauline glick confirmed for paul marion. it seems to me that she’s lying a lot to him about almost anything, just as she’s lied to murkoff agents with much less security clearance than her.

i mean the woman confirmed that miles upshur had been “neutralized” in issue 3 but the look on her face and the turning of her face to the left (which is a known tic people have then they lie) and then her actual words, “yeah, neutralized” seem so untrustworthy. she already confirmed for marion that she couldn’t tell him anything about billy or the walrider. why would she tell the truth about simon peacock? she told him simon’s dead just because it wasn’t relevant for him to know if peacock is alive or not anyways.

in fact the only truthful things she has said so far are things about waylon disappearing, how trager is a sleezebag, and how billy’s mother sold him to murkoff for money, and of course in the recent issue about how marion shouldn’t want his daughter growing up to be like her.

i don’t trust her. that could have been simon peacock or that could have been miles or that could have been another whistleblower that just happened to know how infamous simon peacock’s name is with murkoff. i definitely like the idea of miles protecting waylon, but i cannot say for sure who that person was at this point because red barrels is very sneaky (i mean the coordinates that marion was given are the coordinates for outlast II, as told to me by my good friend @roykleinberg.) seriously, all we can do is wait and see what they have in store for us.

Monday 8:27am
I woke up with you on my mind.
You called me babe last night —
my heart is still pounding.

Tuesday 10:53pm
Today I realized we won’t work.
What we are is hurting her.
And I think she matters more to me than you do.

Wednesday 11:52pm
I broke things off with you today.
She barely said a word.
I’ve never regretted anything more than this.

Thursday 4:03pm
I shouldn’t have sent that message.
You shouldn’t have been so okay with receiving it.

Friday 9:57pm
I almost messaged you today.
I didn’t.

Saturday 8:49pm
I’m walking around town in search of alcohol.
They say that liquor numbs the pain of having a broken heart.
I want to put that to the test.

Sunday 2:32am
I heard you texted a girl you’ve never spoken to before.
I wonder if it’s because you’re trying to replace me.
I can’t help but wish you weren’t.
I thought I was irreplaceable.

—  a week with you on my mind, c.j.n.

Y’all seem to think that ‘Respect’ing other human beings means simply being nice to them, accepting their views, and excusing their actions. But…?

Respecting a person as a PERSON means that you’re acknowledging that they exist. That’s it. Speaking about them, as if they are real. That’s what it means to respect a person as a person. You can disagree and downright condemn a person’s beliefs while still acknowledging that they are a person. Because we, as people, are perfectly capable of doing terrible things and still being people. We’re capable of bad, just like we’re capable of good. The point of respecting a person as a PERSON is not accepting their views. It is not sympathizing with them. It is not giving them the benefit of the doubt. And it is not allowing them to continue to hurt you or your people without consequence. It is not excusing them. It is not surrender.

Respecting a person is realizing that they are still a person saying these terrible things. Not excusing, forgiving, approving, or supporting these terrible things and ideas, but knowing that it was a human itself behind these actions. A person is not suddenly subhuman just because they have terrible ideologies. They’re still a person. Because people do and can have terrible, unforgivable beliefs. And do do unthinkable things. But respecting them as a person is not forgetting that they’re a human. You’re not fighting a monster (Though, a monster in this context would of course be the harmful ideals spread, and the stigma that it both caused and was generated from. Etc.) But you’re fighting another human being.

Now, this by no means should ever weaken your resolve to fight and rise against ideas, campaigns, people that seek to degrade you and oppress you and make “jokes” (can you tell that I literally do not support Felix worth a damn.) at the expense of your suffering. If anything, I feel as if viewing them as a person (read: not forgiving or excusing them. But acknowledging that they are a person.) can only strengthen your fight. The second you fight as if you’re fighting a human being, is the moment that people around you begin to understand why you’re fighting and gain the will to fight themselves. Because they’re humans too.

People on this site are so quick to completely forget the humanity of the other people on this site over something as remedial as shipping Peridot with Lapis over Amethyst. Do not weaken your own arguments, your own voices, and your own points by dropping your voice as if it were to regard and speak to subhumans.

Do not let the forces you fight drop your battle from your own hands. You hold it firmly, back straight, and presented at the human being that pushed you, and didn’t expect you to push back. Make them realize that they are not subhuman. Let them know that you, as a human being, are speaking to them, as a human being, on a battle field that they do not want to to be leveled and fair. Let them know that they are not subhuman, even if their beliefs are garbage. Let them know, they’re not lesser as people.

But as a human being, their actions are unacceptable. And inhuman. Allow them the privilege to feel ashamed. Do not give them the idea that, as a ‘subhuman’, these actions are expected and allowed of them. Let them know that it’s wrong. Let them know.

And that you, as a human being, will not stand for it.

Don’t excuse them. But see them for what they are.

Keep your vision clear, and your voice true. Know that you do not owe them kindness. But know the force that opposes you.

Know them in a way that, in some cases, they will refuse to know you.

That’s how you win wars, my friends.
