yeah nicki

nicky hemmick masterlist (fave moments/most heart wrenching for me bolded)
  • Nicholas Hemmick was the only one who looked genuinely happy to see Neil, and he stepped up to the curb at Neil’s approach.
  • “If you take  German as your elective here, just let me know and  I’ll tutor you. I’m good with my tongue.”
  • “That’s not okay.” Neil said, pointing at the door. “That’s nothing.” Nicky said. Neil caught his arm as Nicky passed and hauled him to a stop. “Don’t let him get away with things like that.” Nicky considered him for a moment, his smile fading into something small and tired.
  • He smiled when he saw Neil. “Hey stranger,”  Nicky said. “What did you think of Matt?” “He seems fine,” Neil said, not slowing on his way by. “He is fine,” Nicky called after him with a laugh.
  • “I’m not willing to give up on them yet. I want to fix this.”
  • Surprisingly, it was Nicky who found the strength to cross the room toward her. He crouched in front of her, moving slow like he thought she’d run off if he startled her, and gazed up into her face. “Hey,” Nicky said, soft and nice like the two of them hadn’t spent all summer cutting each other down on the court. “Is there anything we can do?”
  • Neil expected him to fall, but Nicky slung an arm around Andrew’s shoulders and yanked Andrew close to him. It let him take some of Andrew’s weight without it being too obvious what he was doing. Andrew looked ready to say something about the unasked-for help, but Nicky didn’t give him a chance to argue. He pumped his fist and whooped. “That was awesome! We are going to own this season!”
  • “Kid, you’re killing me,” Nicky said. “Why do you always get that deer-in-headlights look when someone does something nice for you?”
  • “I can’t.” It was too ragged and too honest, but Neil couldn’t help it. If he didn’t get rid of that phone he was going to be sick. “Nicky, I-” “Okay, okay,” Nicky said, taking Neil’s hand in both of his. “We’ll figure it out.”
  • “You’re family, so i can tell you”
  • “I thought I could show Aaron and Andrew how to be brothers again. And I’m not giving up.”
  • “I thought God abandoned me; sometimes I thought I failed Him. Halfway through my junior year I started thinking about suicide.”
  • “Erik Klose,” Nicky said, sounding it out like he was saying it for the first time. “He taught me to believe in myself. He showed me how to balance my faith and my sexuality, and he made me okay again. I know it sounds dramatic, but he saved my life.”
  • It could have been the most awkward dinner in the world if not for Nicky. Nicky hated how isolated the twins were and was desperate to make friends with the rest of the team. It was as if he’d developed a sudden allergy to silence. Any time the conversation started to slow he threw out another topic to salvage it.
  • Nicky cradled Andrew’s face in his hands.
  • Nicky trudged across the room and sank into one of the empty chairs. He dropped his phone on the table and buried his face in his hands. Abby slid into the seat beside him and wound an arm around his shoulders.  Nicky leaned against her but said nothing else.
  • Nicky caught hold of Matt’s wrist instead. “Thank you,” Nicky said, quiet but fervent. “I don’t know why you did it, but–thanks.”
  • Nicky reached out and scrubbed a gloved hand through Neil’s hair. “You are going to be the absolute death of me,” Nicky said. “Yeah, kid. We’re friends. You’re stuck with us, like it or not.”
  • “It’s not really about the food. It’s about family. Not necessarily the one we were born with, but the one we chose. This one,” Nicky emphasized, gesturing between them. “The people we trust to be part of our lives. The people we care about.”
  • Nicky, on the other hand, looked absolutely crushed as he took in Neil’s wrecked appearance. He reached out as soon as Neil was close enough and wrapped his hand around the back of Neil’s head. Nicky was tense as stone but the long breath he let out was shaky. “Oh, Neil,” he said in a choked voice.
  • He could hear pain in his voice, thick enough to slur his words. Nicky looked stricken with guilt. “I can’t yet.” “I’m sorry,” Nicky said. “I didn’t–I wasn’t thinking. Here, here. Let me. I’ve got it.”
  • Nicky was too afraid to go after Andrew, so he slowly dropped to his knees and slid a hand across the asphalt. He curled his fingers around Allison’s and gave her hand a tight squeeze.
  • Nicky blew them a kiss when he was handed his red card.
  • “We’re such hot shit sometimes!”
  • Nicky was a disconsolate mess near the window
  • “A dashboard lighter.” He winced at the awful sound Nicky made.
  • “You can’t have him,” Nicky said. “He belongs with us.”
  • “Neil or Nathaniel or whoever,” Nicky said. “He’s ours, and we’re not letting him go. You want us to vote on it or something? Be you it’ll be unanimous.”
  • “As a family.” Nicky attempted a smile. It was weak but it was encouraging.
I feel like it becomes harder all the time to distinguish the lines of us from the show in some ways. I think as the years go by it starts to really become a mesh, so, I find that my feelings for Yael are always deepening so much, like this year, and it was an interesting season and that. Because of the nature of what Danielle was talking about, the condensed timeline, we kind of are in our pocket for a healthy amount. So I spent extra amounts of time with Yael, and I like, found myself falling more in love with her and like that just […] You know, how deep it was that I got to work with her all the time and how much I love her. So I started going on a sort of trip down like “yeah, Nicky and Lorna really do need to be together” because it was making so much sense.

Oh! And one more thing! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: black women don’t owe white women sisterhood. We just don’t. You are not entitled to our support just because we are ‘all women’. Ignoring how racism affects black women isn’t good feminism no matter how many of your faves try to pretend otherwise.

Black women don’t have to be silent about our struggles in order to fit your white feminism mold. We don’t owe you that comfort.

A piece of my soul dies every time Nicky Hemmick is treated like shit or dismissed

Sorry to bother you again, but I sent you that link to Nicky & Greenie photos? I found other photos I hadn't seen I thought you'd like: iwatchhockeynow(.)tumblr(.)com(/)post(/)158163378460(/)ichoosealex-they-are-so-cute-together-this

THANK YOU, ANON, I LOVE THIS EARLY VALENTINE’S GIFT. THEY ARE HAVING SO MUCH FUN. LOOK AT THOSE SMILES. THOSE LAUGHS. and how drunk they both are

There is so much to love about 8+19, I sometimes forget one of the biggest things: that Nicky just went to Russia to play with Ovi. And that Ovi apparently took him to the best parties. And also that Nicky, apparently, can laugh that loudly and freely.

Ahkmenrah x Reader: Bluebeard

I don’t own the image or Night at the Museum.  Other than that, enjoy!

“I’m telling you, that has to be one of the freakiest movies I’ve ever seen!” Nicky shuddered.  You and him had just returned from seeing Krampus, and he was still freaked out.  You, on the other hand, weren’t impressed by the film.  “Like, thank God it was just a movie!”

“Actually, it’s a myth.”

“What?” Nicky turned to you.

“Krampus.  He’s an actual myth.  He takes bad children on Christmas and beats them with sticks.” You said nonchalantly.  Nicky’s eyes bulged out and he looked around nervously.

“You don’t think he’ll be here one day, do you?”  You rolled your eyes.

“He’s not real, Nicky.”

“Yeah, well neither was Lancelot, and he almost destroyed the Tablet.” You shook your head and went back to texting.  Ahkmenrah came in a moment later.

“What are we talking about?” He smiled and sat down.

“Y/N’s being terrifying again.”

“Oh?”

“We went to see Krampus.”  Ahkmenrah opened his mouth.  “Don’t ask.  I won’t sleep for weeks.  Anyways.  We went to the movie.  And Y/N’s not freaked out by it.”

“Really?  That’s amazing,” Ahkmenrah looked at you in admiration.

“No, it’s not amazing.  This guys abducts and beats bad little kids with sticks and she’s just like, ‘nah it’s cool.’”

“It’s not that bad, Nicky.” Ahkmenrah said.

“I highly doubt it.”

“No really; it’s not that bad.”

“Well what could be worse?”

“Shesmu.” Ahkmenrah said simply.

“Bless you.” You said.  Ahkmenrah looked at you and you shrugged.

“Shesmu is one of my gods.  He greeted the good in the afterlife by serving them wine.”

“That’s not so bad.” Nicky said.

“I’m not done yet.  He served them wine made from the heads of the evil.”

“Seriously?!”  Nicky shouted.

“That’s so gross!” You laughed.

“How are you laughing about this?!”

“Because it’s not bad, and I can prove it!”

“You people are insane,” Nicky said.  He still listened though.

“When I was little my grandparents told me stories of Bluebeard.  He was a man with—”

“A blue beard?”

“Yes.  Now shut up.” You threw your shoe at Nicky, which hit him in the shoulder.  “He was considered ugly and asked a local noblewoman to give him one of her two daughters to marry.  At first neither wanted to because he had been married many times before but no one knew what happened to his wives.  But after a week of partying, the youngest decided to marry him.  A month into the marriage, Bluebeard had to go away on business, but he told his new wife to have as much fun as she wanted.  He gave her two keys, the big one for all the rooms, and the small one for a closet.  He said she could go anywhere in the house she wanted, but if she ever went into the closet she’d be punished.  With that, Bluebeard left.”

“I have a bad feeling about this.” Nicky said.  Ahkmenrah hushed him and urged you to continue.

“Well, the wife’s friends all came over and were amazed at how much wealth she had.  While they looked around the house, the wife thought about the closet.  She was worried about her husband’s warnings, but wanted to see what was inside.  Eventually the curiosity became to great and she opened the closet.  Inside…WERE BODIES!” You shouted the last part.  Nicky let out a very unmanly yelp and Ahkmenrah laughed.  “They were the bodies of all of his previous wives.  She locked up the closet and ran back to her room.  Her key was covered in blood, and no matter how much she washed it, it would not come off.  When Bluebeard came home, he asked for the key.  Eventually the wife returned it to him.  He asked why blood was on it, but she said she didn’t know.  He didn’t believe her, and accused her of opening the closet.  He told her he would kill her, but she asked for time to pray. While Bluebeard left her to pray, she called for her sister Anne, begging her to send their brothers to save her.  Eventually, Bluebeard lost his patience and called for his wife so he could kill her.  Her sister told her that her brothers were coming, but were still a long ways off. Bluebeard grabbed his wife by the hair, and prepared to cut off her head.  She begged for more praying time, but he refused.  Just before he could kill her, knocks sounded at the door and two officers strode in.  Bluebeard tried to run, but was killed before he could get far.  With Bluebeard gone and no children, the wife inherited his riches.”  You finished.  Nicky had left during the story, but Ahk was giving you his full attention.  You blushed at his stare.   “So yeah.” You said awkwardly.  “Krampus isn’t that bad.”

“That…was amazing, Y/N!” Ahkmenrah exclaimed with a grin.  “Do you have any more?”  He asked eagerly.  You laughed.

“Honey, I’m German.  I have tons.”

Thanks to foxinforestofstars for requesting this one!

I made a short, 3 am thing here about a Neil who grew up as his father’s son rather than Riko’s player, and now here’s my rant about it. (I will write about it eventually, alongside my Cinderella AU and my cliche high school AU. Maybe. I’m aiming to do so) (What should I call this AU? Heir AU? Butcher AU? I think I’ll go with Heir for now)

This got incredibly long because for some reason I decided to plan an entire fic wow

  • so this is a nathaniel who was never sold to the moriyamas
  • a nathaniel whose father was never in debt
  • a nathaniel who takes the time to learn how to take over his father’s empire
  • he learns how to cut and carve and the best places to aim and how to cut a man’s eye out and how to torture with only a few weapons
  • because hes not at risk, his mother doesnt take him away
  • i imagine that, considering her own history, she doesnt let him ignore her side and teaches him how to fight physically and how to use a gun
  • (not that nathan would let him ignore that either, but he wouldnt prioritize it like she would)
  • perhaps nathaniel grows up beside ichirou rather than kevin and riko because theyre heirs to their fathers
  • now, nathan and mary frown upon exy but it keeps him in shape and it does something with his pent up energy
  • besides, exy makes him seem normal-ish
  • (hc nathan puts nathaniel into a private school and the private school happens to have exy)
  • until nathaniel turns thirteen and he makes his own kill
  • its gradual but hes brought into the business more and more as he grows older so he has less time for exy
  • and nathaniel cant say he really likes being the future butcher
  • but he knows better than to go against his father and mother
  • but then kevin day happens

all for the game trilogy

“All eyes are on you. It’s time to show them what you’re made of. There’s no room for doubt, no room for second guesses, no room for error. This is your night. This is your game. This is your moment. Seize it with everything you’ve got. Pull out all the stops and lay it all on the line. Fight because you don’t know how to die quietly. Win because you don’t know how to lose.”
