The A-Wing Pilot received one of the most original updates within the Vintage Collection, as it is a Mon Calamari this time instead of a human being. The Mon Calamari supposedly comes from a deleted scene, which I can not prove as I have no Bluray player, nor the Bluray edition of Star Wars. Should I? I am curious enough for the deleted scenes. Then again, so many bucks for so few seconds of deleted material? I don’t know. Anyway, Admiral Ackbar is no longer alone with General Madine and has now someone else to talk to in your collection if you buy this figure. The figure is called Rebel Pilot (Mon Calamari) and not just A-Wing Fighter like in the olden days. It is the first contemporary A-Wing Pilot figure I know of that comes with a blaster pistol. And, well, it is a Mon Calamari. The thing about them is, that they are roughly the same height as a human being while having a much larger head. So to compensate for the large head, the torso is smaller, which is good for the A-Wing Fighter, as it has a very narrow cockpit. Unfortunately a large head needs an even larger helmet, so in case you planned to use your Mon Calamari Rebel Pilot figure for the A-Wing Fighter—tough chance! You will not be able to close the lid because of the pilot’s huge helmet.
