I wanted to say thanks to everyone. I honestly had a bigger thing planned to say thanks to my followers, but a crap computer ruined that plan.
I know I mentioned this before, but I do honestly appreciate every single person who follows me, even if you like certain parts of my work or just the stuff I reblog. But just knowing people find me interesting enough to wanna follow really makes me feel appreciated.
So Tenka celebrates its second anniversary this week, and there has been a bonus mini story at the start of the app these past few days involving Keiji doing a survey of sorts. Today, he asks the 12 Lords for their Anniversary messages/ wishes and they are so sweet.
Translation below: (you’d forgive me if I start with my biases, will you? hahahahahah)
Disclaimer: while I tried to translate it so the meaning comes across. They are by no means accurate.

You’re not giving up, are you, little lady? It’s still the same after years. Still by my side.
(He calls her omae-san, in Japanese, which is a slightly polite/sarcastic ‘you’, which tenka has translated to ‘little lady’. yep, he is admiring her patience to still be with him, everything else is implied in his eyes, I guess…)
Ore ga aisuru no wa, ato ni mo, saki ni mo, omae dakeda itsumo arigatou.
I love you. Always have been, Always will. I’m always grateful for you.
ato ni mo, saki ni mo literally means my past, my future - so sweet right?

I will protect (everything about) you. This feeling has not changed since you were little.
*gosh, I cannot do justice to what he is saying, basically he said it like this has always been the truth for him, that he will protect her, like always, since she was little.

Thanks to you, I’ve been having fun everyday. That’s why, will you stay by my side from now on? I will make you smile more (than for my own amusement)
gosh, this is hard to translate, basically he thanks her for making his days fun, so will she stay by his side so he can make her happy (in return, beyond his own gain).

Shingen is awesome. I can’t, his words just wow. Kenshin’s too though. aaaah. Nobu’s too. Okay, everyone then. I just… can’t choose. Again, I took the transcript from yuharu.com. In no way I guarantee the transcribing is perfect, neither is my translation. If someone wants to correct my translation or add the missing ones, I’ll be open for it ^^

I’ll ask you one last thing, you piece of shit. Who are you and what do you want?
Yukio speaking to Toudou in volume 8.
最後（さいご/saigo） the last (最後に saigo ni at the end, finally)
聞く（きく/kiku） ask (also means “listen”)
verbてやる（~te yaru） to do (verb) for an animal or someone way lower ranking than you AND/OR a strong/aggressive way to say I’M GONNA VERB
クソ（kuso） crap, shit, excrement
お前（おまえ/omae） you (used informally/aggressively by males)
～で（de） is ～ and…
I love this panel because Yukio never talks like that. Like, it’s not just that he called Toudou クソ, it’s in all the grammar and everything. That 聞いてやる…
And I think this is the only time I’ve seen him say お前 (omae) for “you”. It’s not THAT weird for an anime character to say お前 (it’s Rin’s go-to word for everyone!) but Yukio uses the more friendly-sounding 君 (kimi) for people his age and the more formal あなた (anata) for people older/higher-ranking than him. Actually, he usually skips the pronoun and uses their names/titles, which is more polite anyway.
But here Yukio is, casually using お前 in a sentence as if he does it all the time, and that’s how you know he’s ready to snap. Also the gun and the scary glasses thing. Those are some other subtle signs.
Alright so people are saying Hisoka isn’t gay and I’m here to point out in the cultural context of Japan why Hisoka is pretty fucking gay.
Since Japan obviously has a different culture than America it’s important to remember while looking at characters made BY Japanese people, that certain attributes can have different meanings in different cultural contexts. We may interpret certain traits differently but be that as it may that doesn’t mean that the inherent intentions of how something is portrayed can be changed just because it’s seen by an audience who thinks otherwise.
