Haunted Mansion Out-takes

A collection of out-takes and unused narration from the original Haunted Mansion, providing a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse at the work of Paul Frees. The voice of Marc Davis can be heard in the background, as he and X. Atencio direct the recording sessions. You can also hear narration about the one eyed black cat that was eventually cut out.

In Memorium of  Francis Xavier ‘X’ Atencio. Long may his disembodied voice continue to haunt the Mansion.

Dick Nunis, the president of Walt Disney Attractions, had been looking for a water flume ride to take a bit of the edge off the often-brutal summer heat.

For years Dick had been pressuring Imagineering to create such an attraction, arguing that every theme park had one.

The Imagineers, in turn, used the exact same argument against him: all theme parks had one; therefore Disneyland should not.

Marc Davis, Scott Baker, Dan Goozee, John Stone and X Atencio all rendered storyboards, character studies and concept art for the attraction.
