anonymous asked:

what are your favorite comics written by women? any company, any comic (i mean i would prefer if it focused on women but i'll be fine with anything). i feel like i've been reading too many things written by men and while they're good, i really want to start reading more women written books. thank you!!!

you should totally start reading and supporting more comics written by women that’s great! the ones i’m gonna recommend you here are some of my favorite comics written by some of my favorite writers and they’re all so talented

  • lumberjanes has to be the first on this list because it’s about a group of amazing girls, almost all the supporting characters are also women, and the creative team is also mostly female. also, it’s freaking incredible and a beautiful example of queer representation in all-ages media. it’s one of my favorite comics, it got two eisner awards last week and it’s gonna be adapted into a movie by fox. by noelle stevenson, grace ellis, brooke allen and shannon watters!
  • captain marvel vols 7 and 8, both written by kelly sue deconnick. it will be relaunched as vol 9 but with the new writers being tara butters and michelle fazekas from the agent carter show.
  • ms marvel, by g. willow wilson, is just awesome
  • a-force, by marguerite bennett and g. willow wilson (will be relaunched after secret wars but bennett won’t be in it anymore)
  • angela: asgard’s assassin, co-written by marguerite bennett who’s taking over as the only writer for the relaunch post-secret wars titled angela: queen of hel.
  • oh man i adore marguerite bennett she’s also writing years of future past and 1602: witch hunter angela right now during secret wars and they’re both amazing. she’s also gonna write bombshells for dc comics
  • noelle stevenson from lumberjanes is also writing runaways for marvel, and she’s more famous for her webcomic nimona which was published by harpercollins recently!
  • marjorie liu has written two of my favorite comic runs, black widow: name of the rose and x-23 vol 3. she’s also written other comics and a bunch of novels she’s great
  • kelly sue deconnick also currently writes bitch planet and pretty deadly for image comics
  • jem and the holograms! it’s written by kelly thompson who’s also co-writing captain marvel and the carol corps with kelly sue deconnick.
  • gail simone has written a bunch of stuff for dc that i don’t really know much about, and she also writes some indie series

i just noticed this whole list is literally 100% female-led comics or at least have various girls among the main characters. i guess we’ve had enough of men in comics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
