Another prominent factor in me buying CDs I know nothing about is name. When I see an album labeled “www.gaydad.com,” you can bet your ass I’m picking it up out of sheer curiosity. The album in question ended up being Gay Dad’s 3-song EP “Transmission." It has an interesting alt/indie rock vibe with a little classic rock thrown into the mix on the first track. The feel of the whole EP was somewhat disjointed, I’m all for variety, but there wasn’t much of a core style there to keep the songs together, in the end it didn’t even feel like they were all by the same band. The strongest song by far was the opener and title track, everything else lacked energy. Okay to listen to, but uninteresting aside from the small electronic elements that, unfortunately, seemed to be almost entirely allocated to the opener.
