anonymous asked:

do you have any discreet suggestions for a samhain meal/treat? (i'm a sucker for sweets btw)

Well… it is the season for pumpkin and pecan pie, which is a great dessert for samhain! But i’ll give you a list of ideas and you can pick and choose what will work best for your family and tastes! (Sorry no recipe links, but you can find recipes for everything through google!)

  • Pumpkin cheesecake
  • Pumpkin Pie (you will see a lot of pumpkin on this list, sorrynotsorry)
  • Pecan Pie
  • Sugar cookies (cut into festive shapes!)
  • Snickerdoodle cookies
  • Soul Cakes
  • Shortbread
  • Meat Pie
  • Pumpkin Muffins
  • Apple Pie
  • Apple Muffins
  • Apple Bread (drooool)
  • Beef Hash
  • Corn
  • Potatoes
  • Hallowmass Cakes
  • Spice Cakes
  • Herb Bread Rolls
  • Bram Brack
  • Apple Cider
  • Mulled Wine
  • Squash
  • Sweet Potatos
  • Colcannon
  • Pumpkin Soup
  • Pumpkin & Black Bean Chile (really good, you will be surprised)
  • Pumpkin Anything
  • Turnips
  • You can actually make a gratin with potatoes and turnips and its delish
  • Beef Stew

Just a few ideas! ;) & keep in mind, since its already food, its fairly discreet as it is! If you are cooking, you can tell people you want to try a new recipe, or if there is something on the list that your family wouldn’t typically eat, but may match something in your heritage, you can say you want to try some more “traditional” recipes. For example I am heavily Irish, and bram brack, soul cakes and colcannon originate from Irish traditions (from what I have been told) and my family (parents included) always make them on Samhain. But when celebrating with friends that aren’t aware that I am a witch or celebrating Samhain instead of halloween, I just tell them its my family traditional foods! (I do this for other holidays too).

Good luck!

Hey, everyone.

I want you to know something. It’s very, very important.

You know that dream you once had? That vision that stirs your soul so much that your eyes sting with tears?

You can do it.

No, really. Life is hard. I don’t say that to negate any of the really gritty crap that may be going on in your life. I say that because it is real. Whenever I’m going through something that is really stretching me, breaking me down, I never fail to find someone who is going through more. Living in this fallen, imperfect world is truly difficult.

But that dream of yours - it is vitally necessary to making it worthwhile.

Only YOU have that vision. It is YOURS. And it came to you for reason. And in your mind, let it be sacred. This world will wear you out and make you feel your dreams aren’t worthwhile.

Don’t lose your vision! Close your eyes and really let yourself be immersed in that dream. Put it to paper, whatever that means for you. Place it somewhere you will see it daily.

Protect it.

Pursue it.

But don’t let it die.

Fear is a strong motivator. But so is hope. My prayer today is for you to do one thing that brings you closer to your vision, even if it’s taking the first step and simply giving yourself permission to dream.
