wrong about a person

anonymous asked:

When will people finally understand that it's not about being "racist" against white people, but it's about using jimin for harmful posts like this. The topic is unimportant. It's the way people are promoting it. This is not a joke. Just because jimin is a popular singer that doesn't mean that he's your property to use however you want. But anyways, it's useless to argue with them bc they will still keep holding onto their own opinions. It just gives them the attention they so desperately want

Anonymous said:  Tbh the jimin hates white people joke is not alright. Because BTS has now been introduced to billboard there may be more people searching them up. If those people see that kind of joke they may take is seriously. You don’t want people hating Jimin for a joke his fans created. People will get the wrong idea about his personality. I want to tell ppl please stop it with these jokes. If you make just one joke doesn’t mean someone else made just one too. Everyone together makes it into a big deal.

Anonymous said: I think Jimin would be sad to hear that people, armys, joke about him hating whites. Jimin doesn’t seem like the type to hate anyone

Anonymous said: I’m not even white but the whole joke really pisses me off. It’s like “social media has built an idea around instead of leveling race issues and eradicating them, to instead turn the tables.” It’s still very hateful and there’s no need for it, there’s no evidence Jimin hates white people so shut the fuck up and let’s all try to be a more loving fandom for fucking once.

Anonymous said: the shittiest thing about this whole jimin hates white people thing is that people are actually believing in this crap and new fans will believe bts hate white people and it gives a bad rep for bts, most people whining about it aren’t whining cause they’re white they’re upset for the boys rep, but all the poc who think its a harmless joke think white people are offended cause its insulting to white people it’s borderline bullying tbh

Tears fill my eyes as I read the words on my screen. The world seems to stop spinning for the slightest second as I re-read the anonymous message over and over again, gripping on to the hope that the words will magically disappear. But they didn’t. Anon had done it; they’d figured out that the only way to make me take off my hijab was to call my hair ugly. My one weakness.

A tear streams down my left cheek.

Eight years of academy hijab training…wasted. I had to prove this extremely relevant and good-looking anonymous person wrong, I cared too much about what they thought. How could I live my life knowing that there is one person out there who thinks probably my hair is ugly maybe? How could I look myself in the mirror? How could I face my family? My shoulders shook as I cried silently, and my chair squeaked ever so slightly at the vibrations; as if it, too, was crying in sorrow.

It wasn’t until that moment that the second part of the message dawned on me… how would I prove them wrong without breaking the rules? Was it really against the rules? I reach into my hijab and pull out a scroll. At the very top, in cursive jet-black inked letters, the word ‘Rules’ stares back at me. My heart is racing as my eyes frantically read the scroll.

‘Rule #1: no killing people,’ it reads. I let out a whimper. There go my evening plans.

Suddenly, my eye catches the next words. The scroll is rustling in my trembling hands as I turn my face away, tears spraying out of my eyes like the spit of a white person as they try to justify racism. The cursive words felt more like a curse of words, vivid and refusing to disappear as if I were still staring at them even through my closed eyes.

Rule #2: don’t show ur hair girl it’s ugly lmaooooo

By the way man, this why we work well together, you know? You see free soup, you make a decision to eat it.

me: harry, is it raining?

harry: um i think…in my opinion…it’s important to remember…you know…that people have different…interpretations about the weather, in my personal opinion. um…i’m never gonna tell anybody…you know…that their opinion about the weather is…wrong. maybe, one person might say it’s raining…or…that, you know, it’s not. i mean- like i said…everyone has their opinion and….i personally think that’s amazing.

me: nvm, i’m gonna go check myself

and you know what? sana was right all along about sara! that girl really went behind her back in the most unscrupulous way! and sana actually doubted her instincts! and let herself think that “oh maybe i was wrong about this, maybe sara is a good person and i should give her the benefit of the doubt”! because that’s who sana is! she saw a glimpse of hope and held onto that! because she wants to believe that people are good or are able to be good! only to be disappointed in the end! once again!

Genndy is a hetero married man who made HIS characters (that you’re not entitled to deciding what happens to them) who are grown-ass adults that can make their own decisions become romantically involved and half of the fandom is just crying about how The Straights™ get everything they want and/or that Ashi is ruined…

…even tho Genndy planned this for a long time and even talked before bout how he wanted his main character to have a girl to travel with cos it’s something he dreamed about as a young boy and isn’t that was a lot of people do, who have OCs? they project themselves on them? was he not allowed to do that with his own OCs?

and like damn, Genndy’s probably just happy to let his most iconic character have a passionate and wholesome moment after nearly dying for the billionth time, but no it’s somehow an agenda of being homo/acephobic or something about how Ashi is only there as a trophy for hetero romance despite having an entire character arc built up and learning to trust someone after having been brainwashed her entire life - like who better for her to fall in love with but a man so positive and full of goodness, the one she was told was nothing but evil and must destroy???? on her journey to find Jack and learning more about the people he helped, how could she not become infatuated learning not only that everything she knew about him was completely wrong, but that he’s an actual legit nice person to admire the strength and bravery of? what’s rushed or forced about that?

if Ashi was a man yall just wouldn’t say a damn thing about her agency or how quickly they got together, and I think it speaks bigger volumes about you as a person if you’re reducing her to merely a romantic device trope only and ignoring how amazing she is and has been as a character who doesn’t need to be rescued like a damsel or that she needs a Dad to teach her like she needs to be infantilized lol

if you stop seeing her as an incredibly great woman just cos she fell for an incredibly great man that’s all on you and your issues lol

and yeah you can criticize and hate the ship all you want, but so much of your reasoning and logic is flawed and I’m allowed to criticize it too

I hope no one misunderstands this episode and starts like… twisting it up to be a real awful mess…

I mean i think the message is really clear…

Don’t be an asshole and don’t think you have the same voice weight as an “ally” that as a real part of the minority.

PLEASE DONT REPOST LEAKS

Recently there has been some leaks regarding guild wars 2. I wont mention what it is about because of obvious reasons. I personally dont mind spoilers to an extent, because I am personally 2000% hyped regardless.
This is a huge leak though, and while I know Anet is usually pretty chill and nice about datamining, but since this is - as I said, a big leak, reposting or posting leaks may or will get you in BIG trouble.

The room fell silent.

“Can I talk to you?” You asked Jimin calmly as you entered the exquisite dining room, he was sat at the head of the large table, every man in the manor house surrounding him as he briefed them with the upcoming plan of action.

“Sure.” Your brother smiled, sliding his chair back with his legs as he stood up, his warning gaze flitting between Jungkook and Taehyung, who sat either side of him eyeing you curiously.
“Minho you can take it from here.”

Today was the day Jimin planned to kill Hoseok, if anything you should’ve been proud of your brother for being so brazen and bold, but you couldn’t shake away the bad feeling captivating your body. Heading up the stairs to Jimin’s office you quickly and quietly made you way inside and sat down, Jimin in tow. He sat across from you, his once shiny silver hair now beginning to darken into his natural brown/black colour, his bangs lightly grazing the contours of his hooded, dark chocolate eyes.

“What’s this about? Did somebody hurt you?” He asked, brows knitted together curiously as his gaze settled upon your worried expression and the fact you were fidgeting with your sleeves.

“No, it’s just-“ Even though you promised Sung you wouldn’t say anything, you had to confront him, you had to make sure he was 100% certain he knew what he was doing, and after what happened to Jin you knew better than anybody that Hoseok was a dangerous, psychotic man.
“I know about the attack… And I just want to make sure that you know what you’re doing…”

I’m seeing a lot of young transgender or non-binary people out there freaking out or going completely silent and removing all their info from their bios in light of the recent news in America. And I get that, I really, truly do.

But I also want you guys to know that it’s safe to come talk to me if you’re feeling pressured or scared or angry or whatever you’re feeling. If you’re comfortable with talking to me, go for it. :)

Secondly, if you’ve spoken to me about your gender for whatever reason, and are feeling scared about someone else finding out or you being being outed for any reason, please know that I will never reveal anything we have spoken about, anything you have sent to me or asked me about (as an anon or not) to anyone. What we discuss is private, and unless you give me permission to respond publicly or speak about it to others, it will stay between us. Always.

hanthenerfherder  asked:

...or, you know, some of us think Cap is and was right about the whole thing because we're also opposed to the real-world implementation of similar fascist legislation such as The Patriot Act and it has nothing to do with liking him more?

That quote basically says, yes oversight is the right ethical and logical choice, but Cap is a good person, and that puts us in a quandary and I am saying that that is bad math.

It’s also a similar bad math that comes up in A LOT of 616 CW discussions, where Captain America himself (and the anti-reg side) essentially takes the position to non-metas that they should accept that metas occupy a position above the law/beyond equal prosecution by the law, because, you know, they’re different, and their circumstances are different, but you trust CAPTAIN AMERICA, riiiiight? Let the metas judge their own and police their own, what do you need the Constitutional right of equality under the law for? Obviously, this base position is immediately complicated by the clusterfuck of everything else in CW, but I’d argue that that’s deliberate. It’s one of the reasons I’m not a fan of the event, because I really like Cap, and I hate the things it makes him argue and I find them antithetical to him as a character.

I also don’t exactly get why so many people find a difference of opinion on a comics event, or, apparently, an actor’s opinion on an upcoming film none of us have seen as a personal challenge? I mean?? Yes I hate fascism? And the Patriot Act? And I think Cap’s political position is largely wrong in CW though I understand why, as the plot is manipulated, he fights? These things are not incompatible?

I get what you’re saying, but I’m responding to the quote as written and many, *many* other posts and comics CW itself, which initially sets up the problem as a constitutional legal problem of supers as American citizens whose identities allow them to avoid legal repercussions and prosecution and that’s constitutionally unacceptable under the law. Once that actually gets stated, there’s a problem.

I’m not talking about the Patriot Act here, which I abhor, because it wasn’t part of the quote or what I was responding to, and I think the CW treatment of post-9/11 politics was really terrible, tone-deaf, and inconsistent in its understanding of xenophobia** and power dynamics.

Please don’t apologize...

…for what you write. For some people your words will never be enough.

If you write a female Jedi they’ll complain she’s evil. Write a gay Holmes they’ll complain he isn’t black. Write a transgender cop they’ll complain he isn’t the hero.

Here’s the thing about that: You personally can’t write all the wrongs. You can write gay-positive stories, women-motivated tales, or whatever you write that gives voice to people who are often marginalized. What you can’t possibly do is give voice to every one.

And some people will complain about that, and for them nothing you write will ever be enough. So when they tell you your trans cop, your bad ass Jedi, your gay Holmes isn’t good enough—don’t listen. Make the world better in the way you do it. Those people are not living in your skin, you are. They’re not writing, you are. So write what’s inside you, make it beautiful and affirmative, give yourself and others a voice, but please don’t apologize to people who would never, ever apologize to you.

How to make people care about your characters

- Give them interesting and complex relationships, not just “I hate your guts!” for no reason.
- Show us how they feel about things. Use vivid words and don’t forget to describe physical symptoms of their emotions: sweaty palms, stomach roiling with nausea, that sort of thing.
- Don’t harp on the same emotion for 100 pages. Give us a little variety and contrast emotional states with each other.
- Even if they’re the villain, show us why they think they’re right. And if they’re the good guy, make them be wrong sometimes. No one cares about a person who’s perfect all the time.

The @funimation dub of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is out and they fucked it up

Japanese:
T: But I’ll let you know this one.
T: I love you, Miss Kobayashi!
K: Are you planning to eat me?
T: I don’t mean that way! I mean sexually!
K: I’m a woman, though?

Funimation dub:
T: However I can certainly let you know one thing I like.
T: It’s you, I love you, Miss Kobayashi!
K: You’re gonna eat me?
T: No, not like that, like sexually!
K: I’m not into women or dragons.

In response to people asking why this was changed to have Kobayashi saying she’s straight, the dub writer on Twitter said:

1.Proactive language (not reactive) is character appropriate for Miss K.
2.Confusion with sexuality is at odds with timeline/dub culture.
3.Didn’t want the implication that Miss K finds something “wrong” about lesbianism. She doesn’t; just not into it personally.
4.Timing.

It’s almost like certain people don’t understand how character growth and character development work….

another western release to avoid i guess

MYCROFT: I warned you explicitly: no-one was to talk to her alone.

MYCROFT: Eurus doesn’t just talk to people. She … reprograms them. Anyone who spends time with her is automatically compromised.

MYCROFT: She won’t talk. She won’t communicate with anyone in any way. She has passed beyond our view. There are no words that can reach her now.

At the end of TFP, Mycroft seems to be suggesting that Eurus has somehow—shock? trauma?—lost her relationship to language.  According to him, not only won’t she speak, but she cannot even understand what is spoken to her.

On my first viewing, this bugged me, because it reduces Eurus to an entirely passive, almost animalistic figure.  It seems like the narrative, having gotten what it needed out of her, is now simply disposing of her.  She will go back to her madhouse and never be heard from again.  In her speechlessness, it will be easy to forget that she ever existed.

But the more I watch TFP, the more I doubt whether we are meant to take Mycroft’s statement here at face value.  All we really know is that Eurus hasn’t spoken since the events at Sherrinford.  I’ve come to think that this is a deliberate choice on Eurus’s part.  The show makes it pretty clear that she controls people by talking to them, so to me it makes sense that going mute is a kind of penance for her… or at least a reassurance that she has abandoned her powers of verbal manipulation.

Mycroft is wrong about a lot in this episode, and I personally find the idea of Eurus silencing herself by choice to be more satisfying and meaningful. I think the violin duet sequence was meant to make it clear that Eurus had *not* “passed beyond our view”, and that Mycroft was wrong about her once again.

MYCROFT: A prison within a prison. Eurus must be allowed the strict minimum of human interaction.

Eurus’s manipulative powers are so great that Mycroft deemed it unsafe to allow anyone to interact with her.  It is only thanks to her silence that she can be allowed any visitors at all.  It makes sense, then, that she voluntarily gives up her voice as a kind of peace offering, in exchange for which she is at last allowed visits with Sherlock and the rest of her family.
