Summary:

Things you’re supposed to be if you’re a vampire: a terrifying, mysterious creature of the night.

Things you’re not supposed to be: leading a tiny, stubborn child home because you found him all alone in a park and you can’t just leave him there.

Things that aren’t supposed to happen if you’re a vampire: running into the same child—except the years are passing and he’s growing up—over and over again.

Other things that aren’t supposed to happen: Steve Rogers remembering who you are even after you’ve fogged his mind so he forgets. But Bucky should have known from the moment he met Steve that he wouldn’t be able to make Steve do anything he didn’t want to—including making Steve forget him.

Now Bucky just had to figure out how Steve had remembered him…and why he was so happy about it.

i have my first adv english exam that counts towards the HSC next week. the area of study is Discovery and my teacher slammed my first draft. i just can't seem to write 'creatively' for school. do you happen to have any sort of tips/advice that could help me with writing up another draft? other than all the generic "show don't tell" "don't be cliche" etc.

Writing creatives was probably my least favourite thing for English, for both Adv and Ext. My advice to come up with a draft is to:
- go through the rubric. pick out the specific parts that you want to emulate in your story e.g. discovery is confronting, cultural discoveries, leads to new worlds etc.
- minimise your characters. it’s only gonna be anything from 700-1200 words which is not enough time to have a lot of characters. my creative only had 2, not saying this is most optimal, but just my take on it. Even just one character can be good, but you might get a curveball (like my trials) which was about ‘write about how someone else’s story enhances another’s discovery’, which works best for 2 characters. having 1-2 characters also gives you room to develop the characters more, which is what you want with an AOS creative.
- minimise dialogue. this might be an unpopular opinion, but markers dig description- you can even use the landscape to reflect your character’s mood (objective correlative). too much dialogue is hard to follow and doesn’t really flesh out what your characters’ introspection. I think about 7 lines of dialogue throughout my entire story (and I thought that was a lot already). If you use dialogue, make sure it’s actually meaningful.
- get a setting you’re familiar with. you have one week and it’s a bit difficult to write a really good story whilst balancing the rest of your subjects. write about a common setting (and I don’t mean school and teen drama, unless you write effectively), but places you already know. of course if you research well (and i mean well), by all means, write a historical/culturally different narrative, that could really go in your favour. I wrote an australian roadtrip setting for my story. having knowledge of what a setting is already like gives it a sense of authenticity.

and most importantly,

- actually write about discovery. this sounds super obvious and stupid, but I look back at my term 4 yr 11 discovery and it was a story that had discovery in it but it wasn’t focused on discovery. the tip with discovery creatives: it’s not good because you put a discovery in it (like: wow!!! i discovered a ______!!!). it’s only good when you write about what the character learns from discovery and the ramifications it has on their perspective. I can’t even stress enough that this takes you from a basic mark to a good one. Discovery is a process, not a singular event. Write about what the character gains/loses from it. Looking at the rubric helps you a lot with this. It’s your best friend.

Good luck for your exam!!

Sooooo, @blueteaparty tagged me for the first line meme, and that’s cool! But I already did that for my current WIPs and they are not that exciting anyway. But I wrote something that I really liked yesterday so I’m gonna post that.

See, there I was, writing Fenris’ introspection and all of a sudden Varric shows up and gets all wise and shit:

“You don’t hate this mage, yes, but Merrill, Anders, or any of the mages in the Gallows?”

Fenris looks down, searching for help in the pattern of the wooden floor. “I don’t… I don’t know if I can trust them but I don’t hate them.”

“Really?” Varric looks at him with genuine surprise. “Now that’s an improvement for sure but trust…” He gets up and walks over to the open window. The setting sun casts an orange light on his face and he looks older than ever before. “I may just write about romance but I know a few things and trust — there is no substitute for trust. Not even love.” A sad smile plays on his lips. “Especially love. Without trust, love will just be a painful reminder of what could have been.”

There, I really like this bit. And since nobody reads that story I like showing off sometimes, you get this instead of the first line.

So for showing off a part you really like from your WIP, I’m tagging @vorchagirl, @threewhiskeylunch, @sorrowsfall, @seigephoenix, @shaken-veil and @hollyand-writes (haha! you thought I would forget you!)

HQ have to be flirting by now because that's how this show writes romance for all canon ships- Snowing and RB they all had a spark in the very first episode they met. With OQ, Snow immediately noted their chemistry "he's kinda cute huh?" Like someone said this show doesnt do subtle. I'd say C$ is the exception but Emma was still in love with Neal at the time so the C$ romance didn't happen at once. If HQ is to happen in 7B (not that far away), where r the hints? Hook2 seems to favor Tiana

This is some funny shit.  Try harder.

Markiplier’s You’re Welcome Tour

I’m sitting in my hotel room, skillfully eating some leftover chicken and dumplings from Cracker Barrel with a coffee straw cause I don’t have a fork, putting off taking off my makeup, and writing this post while everything is still kinda fresh in my mind.

I had the most amazing time tonight at the show! I honesty wish my brain was working better now so I could write better words but this is all I got lol

The show was SO GOOD!! I had so much fun and the Louisville Palace was beautiful!! Like wow it was a gorgeous theater and I’m so glad I got the chance to go! I appreciate so much what everyone did to put this show together for all of us and it all went so well!

I had VIP seats so I got to see Mark sing before the show started and I am honestly so proud of him for facing his fear of singing in front of everyone and doing so well! Sorry the phone lights threw you off a little but tbh it really added to the moment. And I’m glad you got your little guitar clamp thing back lol Thank you so much for doing that for us~

I had seen little clips of the show here and there from June and I thought it looked amazing but I was not prepared for how much more fun and amazing it was to actually be there and participate in the show! Every second was so funny and fun and I think my favorite part was the dance off! Sorry Ethan but Mark won this one lol The fan participation was so cool!

I love the whole team so much it was awesome to see them all perform in person. ALSO AMY AND KATHRYN!! Shout-out to them for being awesome and beautiful and going around to get questions from people!

Okay I better wrap this up cause I’ve rambled too much at this point. I might write more tomorrow if I can think of more to say. But thank you Mark, Ethan, Bob, Wade, Tyler, Amy, Kathryn, and of course Dan the Music Man for putting on a fantastic show that I won’t forget~

<3

P.S. - My mom also loved the show and thought you all did amazing!

concept: john making a passing comment about butterfly kisses in some dismissive, oh whatever kind of way, but sherlock frowns and says what?? there’s another way to kiss?? you don’t kiss me that way?? and john laughs but goes over and says hold still, i’ll show you, and he real slowly flutters his eyelashes against sherlock’s cheek, and when he pulls back sherlock is pink and his mouth has dropped open a bit and he says a little breathlessly, can i do that to you? and john says sure so sherlock leans in and does it to him and it’s actually kind of incredibly intimate, the soft soft brush of eyelashes, and everything is quiet except the sound of their breathing as it hitches in their chests and when sherlock draws back again john cups his face in his two hands and kisses him properly, so so slowly and so so softly, and reminds himself to kiss sherlock more often, just because he can

46. What if I told you I’ve been in love with you since we were kids.

When Victor had first received the invitation from the Tsarevich, he’d had half a mind to decline.

But then Yakov had scolded him, telling Victor would be insolent at best and dangerous at worst. Victor couldn’t deny that, knowing Friedrich as well as he did. Ever since they were teenagers, Victor guiding the would-be Tsar around the ice, Friedrich had always made his temper known. Victor had often found him unpleasant at times in their youth, the callous way he would treat his servants rankling Victor’s sensitivities.

Once Victor’s coaching had ended when Friedrich entered the political sphere at eighteen, Victor had swallowed his distaste, taken the money he’d been granted and fled further West into the continent. Never in the last decade did Victor think the Tsarevich’s reach would stretch as far as Vienna, but here was Victor being proven unfortunately wrong.

Victor bowed to the doorman at the Hotel Imperial, handing his invitation over with a careful flick of the wrist. The doorman nodded, calling over an escort to bring Victor to what was no doubt going to be one of the more grand ballrooms. Friedrich always had a taste for fine things, even by royal standards. If the Tsar ever did die, (which looked unlikely, as the codger seemed intent of living forever), Friedrich would likely bankrupt Russia in a week.

Not that Victor cared, mind.

Victor followed his escort up the Royal Staircase, adjusting the buttons of his shirt from where the white cuffs sat below the sleeves of his black tailcoat. When Victor had first suggested a short jacket, preferring the more daring fashion of it, Yakov had nearly thrown the kettle he’d been boiling at the time at Victor’s head. While it had definitely been worth it to rile Yakov up, Victor knew that he’d do better to try and emulate the Russian aesthetic. Like a good countryman.

The escort took Victor’s overcoat, bowing low and opening the door to the ballroom for him. As expected, Victor was at first blinded by the grandness of it. Gilded walls, like the palaces of home and ornate chandeliers dripping glass and sparkling light across the room. There was chatter and music, and the smell of wine.

‘Victor Nikiforov!’ the escort announced to the room, Victor just biting his lip in time to stop a sigh of resignation.

The ballroom was full of what was undeniably an almost exclusively Russian crowd. Victor recognised some of the faces from his own readings and the papers- bankers and politicians, the odd ballerina. Russia must be empty, Victor thought to himself, taking a glass of champagne from a passing waiter.

‘Victor!’ A voice boomed and Victor pushed his hair from his face, preparing himself.

‘Your highness,’ Victor said in familiar Russian as Friedrich approached, bowing low. Friedrich was reflecting almost as much as the chandelier above him, Imperial military jacket bespeckled in shining brass buttons and gleaming medals that sat proudly against his chest. Knowing Friedrich, he was probably wearing them in the prayer of a war.

‘Oh, Victor!’ Friedrich said, grabbing Victor by the shoulders and shoving him upright. ‘Don’t be so formal. I couldn’t have that, dear friend.’

Victor blinked, truly surprised at being called dear. ‘Then what shall you have me call you?’

‘Nothing unpleasant,’ Friedrich replied with a wink, dark eyes hooded beneath his thick eyebrows. He had grown a beard in the last ten years, shaven square and elegant like his father’s. He had not grown much over the last ten years, only brushing Victor’s nose. Victor inclined his head.

‘I would never dream of it,’ Victor said with an easy grin, toasting his glass to Friedrich. Friedrich beamed from behind his beard, clapping Victor so hard on the back it had him choke on his sip of champagne. Hiding his cough, Victor let himself be led into the crowd.

‘Everyone, you must know who this is!’ Friedrich announced to a group of rather impressive looking men and women. Dressed in their finery and regarding Victor in his modest tailcoat with mild interest. ‘Victor Nikiforov, the ice dancer!’

‘Oh yes,’ a portly man said, nodding his red face in Victor’s direction. ‘I’ve heard of you. You have that- how do you say- ice show? Is that it?’

Victor rolled his shoulders. ‘Yes, I do. But only during the winter season, naturally. Otherwise, I spend my time with the ballet.’

‘A waste!’ a woman with blonde hair said, leaning into her husband’s side like what Victor had said almost had her swoon with misfortune. ‘To have such talent lost to the continent. I’ve seen your shows. The Bolshoi would be happy to have you.’

‘Victor was never one for patriotism,’ Friedrich said, giving Victor another strong pat on the back. Victor was rather getting the impression that Friedrich wanted Victor to be hunched over as often as possible, perhaps to make Friedrich appear taller. ‘Fled the old country the moment you were free to, didn’t you, my friend?’

‘Call it wanderlust,’ Victor said airily, taking another sip of champagne before he said something he’d regret.

‘I’d say it was lust of a sort,’ Friedrich said crudely and Victor coughed into his champagne, embarrassed. ‘You were always one to follow a pretty face!’

Victor didn’t know what to say to that, glancing around their company for some inclination of what to do. The other men laughed while their wives smiled benignly, which really only further Victor’s discomfort. He did not appreciate being laughed at.

‘Speaking of such, I must introduce you to someone,’ Friedrich said, taking Victor’s arm again and leading him down the ballroom. Victor smiled to those who nodded to him as they passed, guests bending low to Friedrich who paid them no attention. ‘I must say I didn’t even know you were here in Vienna. Ignorant, on my part, I know. But thankfully, my betrothed knew of your show and insisted we attend. He has quite an interest in skating, you see.’

‘I see,’ Victor replied, not really listening as he finished off his champagne. Then, Victor realised what Friedrich had said to him and stopped so suddenly, he nearly toppled them both to the ground. ‘Forgive me, but did you say your betrothed?’

Friedrich looked at Victor with great amusement. ‘I am a twenty-eight year old man, Victor. Did you think me incapable of finding one?’

‘No… No, of course not,’ Victor said, dazed. His mind was racing and Victor looked over Friedrich’s shoulder, paying far more attention to the people around them. ‘I knew you had an arrangement.’

‘A rather fortunate one, as it has proven to be,’ Friedrich said, puffing out his medaled chest. Victor was certain the flute in his hand would break, he was gripping the stem so tightly. Friedrich seemed not to notice Victor’s anxiety, starting to walk again. ‘He’s quite the beauty, though I’m sure you’ve heard already. Japan performed well in that regard. They must be awfully interested.’

Victor was barely listening, following Friedrich like he were dreaming. Victor felt weightless, without an anchor. His thoughts were running ahead of him, all the imagined fantasies he’d indulged in as a young man rushing down him in a wave of nostalgia that his heart reeling.

They were almost to the end of the ballroom, towards the large windows that led to the balcony overlooking the street. And through the fine chiffon curtains, Victor saw a figure.

The man was wearing what had to be the Japanese fashion, similar to what he had the first time Victor had met him as children. Shimmering satin of a deep, blood red with embroidered black and white spirals that crept up the carefully folded fabric like rose vines. He turned when Friedrich approached, dark eyes catching the golden light of the ballroom and Victor felt time stop around him.

Yuuri.

The years had been exceptionally kind to Yuuri. He had grown tall, though not as tall as Victor, and his frame willowy. Like a dancer, Victor thought as Yuuri’s slim arms came together in front of the thick, silk belt that bound his ensemble together. The dark hair Victor remembered seemed a tad longer, combed back over Yuuri’s head quite fashionably.

And though Yuuri’s face was not as round as Victor remembered it being as a child, his eyes were just as warm. Like firewood embers, earth-brown and catching like flint in the light.

‘Victor,’ Friedrich said, holding a hand out towards Yuuri like he were a particularly fine piece of art. Not that Victor would disagree with such an assessment, as it were. In heavily accented English, Friedrich introduced; ‘This is my fiancé, Yuuri Katsuki.’

Yuuri smiled when he met Victor’s eyes. It was a small thing, just the barest curl of his full lips and then Yuuri was bending low, his arms in front of him.

‘It’s a pleasure to meet you, Victor,’ Yuuri said in English so elegant, it was almost without accent to Victor’s ear. As he straightened back up, Victor was still frozen, all manners and protocol slipping from his mind entirely. Yuuri titled his head, dark eyes burnt gold from the light around them.

‘I think you have him quite stunned,’ Friedrich said and Yuuri looked away, his cheeks colouring. Friedrich laughed and it broke Victor from his reverie, looking to the Tsarevich in a panic. ‘Oh, do not trouble yourself, my friend. Even the court quite forgets the look of their own shoes when they see him.’

‘You are too kind, Your Highness,’ Yuuri said blithely, almost sounding rehearsed to Victor’s ear. He doubted Friedrich’s English was strong enough to pick it up, however. Friedrich stepped over to Yuuri, but Victor noted Yuuri’s slight shift. The way his hips angled slightly away.

‘What is the use of you if I can’t inspire jealousy?’ Friedrich asked, touching Yuuri’s elbow. Victor looked down, unable to stop himself. He saw the satin of Yuuri’s robe bunch, Friedrich was gripping so tight. ‘Yuuri insisted we see your show and once I recognised you, I simply had to invite you to our gathering. Only Russia’s finest, I assure you.’

‘I’m honoured,’ Victor said truthfully, looking to Yuuri’s face. Yuuri glanced up at him from beneath his dark lashes, cheeks still pink. ‘If I have ever done anything you found engaging, then I would consider myself achieved.’

‘Such flattery!’ Friedrich cried, releasing Yuuri and stepping away. He patted Victor’s shoulder again. When he spoke, it was in Russian, Yuuri’s face going blank at the sound of it; ‘I trust with such a sweet tongue you can keep Yuuri entertained while I meet with the General?’

Victor could only nod, not trusting himself to speak. Friedrich smiled at the both of them, before stepping back into the ballroom. Victor stayed where he was, too afraid even to move. Yuuri glanced up at him, a true smile breaking across his beautiful features.

‘Hello, again, Victor.’

‘Yuuri,’ Victor said, grinning before he could stop himself. ‘I wish I had the words, but I don’t.’

Victor walked up to Yuuri, impropriety abundant in his boldness but Victor found himself uncaring. Yuuri looked up at him, smiling so widely now his teeth were flashing between his lips. Victor reached out with his free hand, taking Yuuri’s own by the fingers. He raised it up, pressing the chilled skin to his lips.

‘I’m afraid I don’t have any gloves to offer you this time,’ Victor said, words kissed to Yuuri’s fingers. Yuuri was watching him, smile faltering only slightly.

‘You cut your hair,’ Yuuri said, hand slipping out of Victor’s grip. For a moment, Victor thought Yuuri might reach up to touch the careful sweep Victor retained over his left side, but then Yuuri’s hand was gone entirely. ‘It suits you well.’

Victor laughed. ‘You remember my hair?’

‘I remember all of you,’ Yuuri replied, before his eyes went wide. He stepped back, hands tight down at his sides. ‘Forgive me, that was untoward.’

‘It’s flattering to know you’ve thought of me,’ Victor said honestly and Yuuri blushed, turning to face the street from the balcony wall. Victor walked up beside him, his hand brushing against the silken edge of his robe. ‘I’ve thought of you as well. More often than I’m sure is proper for me to admit. Seeing you again is… Like something from a dream.’

Yuuri went nearly as red as his robe, blinking up at Victor with such shock that Victor was sure he’d overstepped. He was just about apologise when Yuuri laughed quietly, pushing a stray hair behind his ear.

‘You’re a skilled flatterer. No wonder you dance so well.’

‘It is truth,’ Victor said earnestly, placing his empty champagne flute down on the balcony wall. He watched Yuuri, careful not to push. ‘I find myself wondering if you kept the gloves I gave you. If you ever tried skating. If you ever think of me. To know at least one of those things for certain is more than I could ever have imagined all these years.’

Yuuri said nothing to that, eyes back down on the street below. Victor saw Yuuri tug on his lip with his teeth, almost like he were concentrating. Perhaps on the carriages that were making their way through the snow that lay across the cobbles.

‘Tell me, Yuuri,’ Victor said, trying to charm and stepping back to appreciate Yuuri’s dress once again. ‘Are you actively seeking a poetic death of cold? Every time I meet you, you seem intent on standing out in the snow.’

‘I must confess a secret,’ Yuuri said, looking up with a bashful nervousness. Yuuri inclined his head behind them. ‘I don’t care much for these political parties. I don’t really perform well with an audience, despite what His Highness says. I’d rather be out here alone and cold, than warm and with those people.’

Victor laughed, charmed as he had been at seventeen. ‘I certainly can’t blame you for that. I ran from the whole country. But I can tell you a secret, so you don’t feel too bad for it. Might be a dreadful secret though.’

Yuuri smiled, eyes coy. ‘I’m sure I could pardon you.’

Victor stepped closer, waiting for Yuuri to meet his eye. He watched Yuuri’s face, traced the lines of the cheeks Victor remembered and the lips he’d dreamed of.

‘What if I told you that I have been in love with you since we were children?’ Victor asked, voice low with an emotion too dangerous to name. Yuuri looked at Victor, his brown eyes round.

‘Then I would say you were a fool,’ Yuuri replied, breathless and it put a fire in Victor’s heart. ‘Who says such things?’

‘Fools, I’m told,’ Victor teased back, cautious but not adverse to the tension that gathered between them. It reminded him of the thunderous clouds that would roll over Vienna in the autumn time, promising split skies and flooding rain. Yuuri looked as devastating as a storm.

‘Or liars,’ Yuuri said, voice suddenly cold. He stepped away from Victor, hands before him again in perfect posture. He stood tall, regarding Victor warily. ‘It was good to see you again, Victor.’

Before Victor could say anything else, Yuuri turned and headed back into the ballroom, leaving Victor standing in the snow, wondering if he’d ever misstepped so badly before in his life.

SDCC 2017 Rebecca Sugar interview

Rewind and Pause interviewed Rebecca Sugar in this fifteen-minute interview. Here’s a sorta-transcript–not word for word, but basically what the questions are and how she answered, paraphrased.

Question: A lot of the show’s symbolism is inspired by Utena. Can you discuss that show’s influence?

Rebecca: When I was a teen, that show was an epiphany for me! It plays with the semiotics of gender and I was a bisexual teen relating to it in a way I’d never related to anything before. The show is beautiful and I love that she decides she wants to BE a prince after being saved by a prince. And it’s also funny. It’s so extreme that it’s funny, and that was a huge influence on me as well, that something could be so dramatic and so beautiful but also wacky. It’s so extreme that it’s powerful at the same time as being funny. I got to see the origins and see Guys and Dolls at the Takarazuka Theater when I visited Japan. Osamu Tezuka grew up in that town! You know, Princess Knight, which has everything to do with Utena. I got to see some of the roots there and it was a big influence. Amazing.

Question: Another influence, especially lately, you can draw comparisons between Steven’s miracles and Christ figures. Are you exploring this, and potentially modernizing that allegory, with different kinds of love?

Rebecca: We’re inspired by every voice that has ever spoken about peace. I think–I’ve been reading about Hillel the Elder and how he said “If I’m not for myself, then who will be for me?” The gentleness with which he approached everything is really inspiring to me. I think that I’m very influenced by my Jewish upbringing. I’m half Jewish and was raised Jewish. I’ve felt the feeling of belonging but not belonging. I’ve been moved by this incredible history and this wonderful community that I wanted to understand and be a part of. That’s all been a big influence on the show as well. It was all about growing up with my brother, and that was a big part of my life. There’s a lot of spiritualism in the show.

Question: I wanna ask you about the color symbolism? And I’d be remiss if I didn’t say thank you for showing our community on TV. About Steven: His Gem is pink, his shield is pink, his sword is pink, his shoes are pink! It subverts the tropes of a traditional male hero. Was that intentional?

Rebecca: Oh, it’s COMPLETELY intentional. Yeah, I think one of the things I wanted to do as I went into the show was address how intensely gendered shows for children are and dissolve that. That was my first goal. And I think it came in large part because as a little kid I always gravitated toward boys’ shows, and I felt extremely guilty about that. And I don’t think my child self should have had to feel bad, but I understood “this is not really for me.” So as we went into this, I wanted NO ONE to have to feel that. I wanted everyone who wanted to, to feel it was for them. Especially since it’s gender nonconforming as a show.

Question: Silly question: Peridot and Lapis are roommates. What do you think their biggest pet peeves are of each other? If they have any, I mean.

Rebecca: Gosh. I think Lapis is sort of both annoyed and comforted by Peridot’s infinite energy. I often thought of them like the sort of old cartoon idea of a small dog and a big sort of like doesn’t-really-care dog. With a small very very excited dog. I felt that that was a dynamic for them. So I think that that, like those characters, it’s annoying to Lapis but she doesn’t actually dislike it.

Question: Congrats on the Emmy nomination!

Rebecca: THANK YOU!

Question: I hope we get to see “It’s Over, Isn’t It?” and “Both of You” during the Emmys. How do you feel?

Rebecca: I’m so excited, and I’m so glad it’s that one. It was such a fun dream to make a musical episode. I always loved those, they’re always my favorite. I couldn’t wait to do ours. Everyone was firing on all cylinders for that episode. I got to do music with Jeff Liu and Ben Levin, and Aivi and Surasshu’s compositions for the finals were stunning, the backgrounds are incredible, the art is so beautiful, it’s Jeff Liu and Joe Johnston’s last board together, it was one of the last episodes I got to work on with Ian before he left to do his show, so it also has a special place in my heart, I remember seeing it come back and being in the edit bay watching it and my eyes were welling up because “this is it, this is everything I ever wanted.”

Question: Not to mention Deedee crushing it.

Rebecca: She’s amazing! And that was when she was doing Tommy! So we got her on a day she’d been doing shows all day, and she came and knocked that out.

Question: First take?

Rebecca: We did several, but all of those takes were amazing. I love writing songs for Deedee. And that one, it has some notes in it that I cannot hit. But I know Deedee can do it.

Question: Now when you write songs, you hear a lot of the demos you write on ukulele a lot, but you play other instruments. Do you find that you write differently depending on what instrument you’re writing for?

Rebecca: Yes! Oh, completely. I have my go-to ukulele chords. But I also like to write songs on the omnichord, which is like a synthetic harpsichord from the 80s. And it has a row of buttons, you hit a button and you get that chord. I can use it for experimentation for chords I might not have thought of. I got one off eBay, the OM-84, and it was a little buggy, it wouldn’t play right, would go out of tune, and I took it to get it looked at, and these incredibly corroded batteries fell out of it! With this cloud of red dust! So I can’t put batteries in it anymore. But I can plug it in and it still works.

Question: So for “Love Like You,” is it connected to any of the characters or any point of view, or was it more a one-off?

Rebecca: “Love Like You” is so unusual. It started as a point-of-view song for all Gems, and the thesis of the whole show, sort of toward Steven, and my own brother Steven, but because it was the credits, I wrote the song over three years in little pieces. I thought at the start that this is about an alien that’s looking at a human, who loves them, and the secret meaning of this is that they don’t have the capacity to feel this way. By the middle of it I was deep into the show and going through a real crisis of confidence, where I was like “why are people looking to me? It’s not right!” and these people were coming out of the woodwork to thank me for the show, people who had been able to speak to their families in these wonderful new ways, people who had become comfortable with themselves in these incredible ways that I had not been able to do! Where I was like “I’m so inspired by everyone! Why are they thanking me?” So the middle of the song I was sort of in that place. And about a year later, I realized the beginning was not what I had thought it was about at all. It’s not a secret meaning about an alien who doesn’t understand humans. It’s about the fact that I had always loved my brother and had these people who would love me unconditionally in my life, and because of my insecurity I had not been able to be there for them 100%, and I realized this was maybe one of the most human things I’d ever written, and I had written it by accident. So I got to conclude it. It was seriously written over 3 years.

Question: Recently we talked about how the show has been dramatic and full of conflict. It’s great but do you ever have concerns about taking the show–it’s a very positive show, so does the conflict have the potential to go too far, or do you like making it more challenging?

Rebecca: I’m excited to be more ambitious with the story, and the danger they’re experiencing also feels like a danger for us who are writing the show. Writing stories that are more ambitious and challenging. It feels necessary, because it’s about how love conquers all, but you can’t write that story without showing what comes up against that. I’m excited to explore the–you’re right, it’s scary to explore where hate comes from in a show about love. I want to–it’s a challenge to stay positive while exploring that. But that’s a challenge I experience in LIFE. And that’s a challenge we’re all experiencing right now. So it also feels like the time to explore that in myself and in the show.

@ people who are complaining there’s no new character development in Lance’s vlog:

You’re right, there wasn’t.

None of the vlogs so far have given us any new information or character development. All they have done is maybe enhanced or emphasized what we already knew from the show.

Stop complaining, jeez

[update]

In case anyone is wondering WHY I’m making this statement, let me clarify.

Some people are upset because they think Keith’s and Allura’s vlog had character development but Lance’s didn’t. This is not the case. If you didn’t know that Keith had abandonment issues and regrets his temper and pushes people away because he’s scared of getting hurt, you missed a lot in the show itself, it was very clear. If you thought Allura’s feelings about the Paladins was new information, you weren’t paying enough attention to her during the show. All this was there, the vlogs just took a few aspects and emphasize it, made it more clear. Nothing new. We shouldn’t exepct the other vlogs to present something new either, and even though we’ve seen other aspects of Lance in the show (his loyalty, his fear, his homesickness) only one of his traits was chosen. I get the impression a lot of folks wanted the vlog to emphases Lance’s negative emotions, but if they did that for all the Paladins that would be pretty sad vlog project.

End lesson: pay close attention to ALL the characters in canon, and you won’t be surprised/disappointed by the vlogs

Girls and their Signs

“An Aquarius sat me down and she had a look on her face and I knew this was going to be serious. She was never serious, until she told me she loved me.

An Aries stopped me when I wrapped my arms around her waist. She was not going to have it today, and I slowly just let go and kissed the back of her neck and she melted again. The fire in her eyes rekindled and we smiled.

A Cancer called in the middle of the night, wanting to talk, and suddenly the atmosphere changed. She told me about her past, and what she had to go through and what made her become who she is now, and seeing her vulnerable I couldn’t stop myself from crying with her.

A Capricorn showed me her scars and she laughed about it, and I knew it was forced. I reached for her hand and she slowly became a mess and apologized for staining my shirt.

A Gemini loved me so fully, that when she left she brought a piece of me where ever she may be. A side of hers will remain with me.

A Leo came forcing herself into my life and showed me what real loyalty was, and when it was over she was proud to say that I will never find someone like her with tears in her eyes, but she held her head high and her chest out. She was proud of herself and she was right.

A Libra opened me to a world where not everything has to be spontaneous, and that everything can be so simple with just the amount of time and patience. She told me the world was ours and I believe her for it.

A Pisces showed me how to be a hopeless romantic, and to vibe with the energy around me and not to take things to seriously. She was the half of me and she tells me I was hers.

A Sagittarius baked me tons of cake and sweets when she has time, and that was always the high light of my life.

A Scorpio became so over protective of me and she would constantly ask about me and who I was with, but if vice versa she would say don’t worry and that I shouldn’t worry who she’s with because at the end of the day she was with me.

A Taurus loved me and sends me videos and music when she gets reminded of me. She would take pictures of art from galleries she visits and asks for my input of it, and we would laugh about it afterwards. She would sometimes send me pictures of me as her skin glistens like gold and she would ask me if she was beautiful even with her skin covered in scars.

A Virgo came into my life and showed me all the 12 things I write about, and everything in her I see the opposite of me, and she was everything I could ask for. When she left the light she brought with her began to dim and I watched her love someone else, and that was the most painful thing.”

Agents of SHIELD Summer re-watch ✿

↳ Season 1 Episode 12 - Seeds

“That’s the thing about Skye. What I told her shattered her world. Her lifelong search led to stories of murder, and now it’s too difficult to continue. Her search is over. Her story ends here. But you know what she said? She said “no”… her story started here.“

One Direction’s Niall Horan Going in Another Direction?

Could the One Direction star be in the process of cutting ties with fellow band members?

Niall Horan (23) posted on his twitter earlier today about his electricity woes, having been without power for the past 24 hours.

Pictured above, the One Direction star’s tweet about his power outage

With a net worth of £33 million ($47.53 million) as of last year, fans online are wondering if something isn’t wrong in the life of their favourite Irish singer.

“He’s a multi-millionaire, why didn’t he just go stay in a hotel?”, questioned one anonymous fan, “What would he even do at home for 24 hours without power?”

Another fan who was equally dumbfounded said: “If he’s so rich why doesn’t he just pay somebody to fix the problem already?”

But the most interesting comment came from a fan who asked “Why wouldn’t he just stay with some of his equally rich fellow band mate best friends? If my best friend was without power for 24 hours I wouldn’t leave them to stay alone in their own house.” We here at the AAS couldn’t help but wonder the same thing so we reached out to Horan’s band mates for commentary.

Unfortunately, fellow band member Liam Payne (23) who is currently searching for his elusive solo album, to come out “soon”, and is busy answering fans’ questions on twitter could not be reached for commentary. Zayn Malik (24), who may or may not be a former member of the band could also not be reached for commentary as he is currently occupied with being persistently prospective ‘super model’ Gigi Hadid’s boyfriend prop for her Instagram photo ops.

However, we were able to contact Horan’s fellow band members and rich husbands Louis Tomlinson (25) and Harry Styles (23) who refuse to let Horan who has been without power for longer than anybody can remember to stay in their meditation tea house. Styles commented:

“That hat man, he really needs to step up his style if he wants to put one foot inside our meticulously decorated tea house. There’s vintage furniture in there, one of a kind stuff!”

Tomlinson added: “Never really liked the lad. Was always weirdly invested in our relationship. I think it all began when he started to care more about golf than football. More than football!”

“I really think he stalks my husband. He likes all of his pictures moments after they’re posted. Even the fans don’t get to the pictures that fast!” Styles said. “Honestly, I think this power outage was a sign. It’s time to move on. Our relationship involves two people, not three, even though he seems to think otherwise.”

“He calls himself captain, you know? Of our ship. We caught him once dancing and dressed like a sailor. It’s at the point where we really feel like he should keep his distance from us,” Styles explained.

“This past year and a half away from Niall has been a wonderful and much appreciated break, but when I went solo he was right in our faces again and wouldn’t leave me and me social media alone. It was frankly quite disturbing,” Louis added, troubled.

“You know he started a fight with Steve once, saying that he wouldn’t take his place as my biggest fan even over Niall’s dead body. He’s gone mad, I tell you. Did you know he once sent me a truck load of footballs just because I like the sport? We just don’t know what to do. He needs to stop,” Tomlinson said.

“He forgets that I have been and always will be Lou’s biggest fan,” Styles complained, “We had some good times together as a band, we really did, but Niall needs to move on. It’s not 2012 anymore. Somewhere along the way his obsession with us went from cute and endearing to creepy and annoying.”

Who knew it would come out in 2017 that Niall Horan is the cause of the band’s split thanks to a simple tweet about a power outage?

(for my love @rated-l-for-larry without whom half this shitpost wouldn’t be possible. you asked for it and i delivered. hope you enjoy 😘)
