‘The Rossett Hoard’, the Museum of Wrexham, North Wales, 24.10.17. Discovered by two metal detecting enthusiasts in 2002, this late Bronze Age hoard consists of a socketed axe, two halves of a broken bronze knife and four pieces of gold bracelet. The axe can be dated to around 950 to 800 BCE. The gold is of Irish origin and suggests trading links between Wales, Ireland and mainland Europe. It is possible the knife was already broken in two before it was placed in the ground.
