I’m here to give you a warning. Leave me and the people around me alone. And what if I don’t? If you don’t, I’ll come and find you, no matter where you may be. I’ll end our first encounter with just this warning but if I ever come to see you a second time, you will die.
I kind of wish modern Supergirl and Superman would deal a bit more with the fact that they are refugees.
Superman feeling, and being, different from a lot of other people is touched on. But perhaps he sees images of his mother and father, and catches himself feeling that their outfits look silly, but their clothes are traditional Kryptonian garb, and he feels a bit guilty for being removed from his culture despite there being no way he could have been raised in it.
Kara, having been a teenager when her planet blew up, having an accented English that makes so many ask where she’s from. Her wanting to request off for a holy day, but having to make an excuse because no Earth holidays fall on the same time, especially since Krypton’s calendar doesn’t match Earth’s. She has to choose an Earth birthday, and feels upset when a special milestone for her can’t happen, or the traditional celebration of Kryptonian adulthood doesn’t happen because nobody knows about it. And maybe she’s upset that her cousin’s Kryptonian is accented, that her culture will probably die with her and her cousin, that the most of those left are those who were imprisoned in the Phantom Zone for being the scum of Krypton. Maybe there are Earth norms and mores that are so foreign to her, and Kryptonian norms and mores that she has to let go of to fit in.
They popped out of a tsubasa book! I remember when this first came out and I lost my mind over the very thought that Yuuko and I are in ownership of some of the same books! Wild! Meta clamp is meta!
YOU’RE NOT EVEN KIDDING. THAT IS THE MOST META.
Like, Yuuko IS IN Tsubasa.
And yet Yuuko owns the manga of Tsubasa.
The first question here is how did she get that? Which world is selling Tsubasa that Yuuko has access to? Is it our one? Do other CLAMP worlds sell the Tsubasa manga, and does that mean the Tsubasa family could potentially end up in one of them?
But also like. Did Yuuko read the manga before it happened in real life, or afterwards? Does she have ALL of Tsubasa, or just some of it? Does she know how it ends? Did she know that anyway, without the manga? I mean probably but still.
