Today, someone suggested that my ex may have borderline personality disorder. It is characterized in part by an extreme fear of abandonment and rejection–and the perception of those things in even benign circumstances. (For example, a person with the disorder may perceive momentary distraction or sleepiness in their partner as rejection of the relationship as a whole.) After reading up on it, I agree with that suggestion, though I am no clinician. I feel bad that my ex may have a serious mental illness, but I cannot treat it by simply being his girlfriend. I cannot even be present for him when he breaks up with me and calls me vicious names. He needs therapy, not a girlfriend.
And furthermore, I will not subject myself to that sort of abuse. I think of the younger women that have called me a role model, and I cannot let them believe that I find this behavior acceptable and tolerable.
Might I continue to communicate with him? Maybe. I do care about him and I want to urge him to seek therapy. But I will maintain tight boundaries.
Just wondering if you guys would ever consider updating the "popular fics" list cuz everything I've read is so amazing and I love them all :D
We dont update masterlists that have already been made, we just make new ones! Considering our last popular fics masterlist was only some months ago, we probably wont be making another one for a while, that way we can get a bunch of new popular fics to make a whole masterlist :)
For the writing meme: 13, 15, 17, with a bonus HOW DO YOU WRITE SO MANY WORDS SO QUICKLY
13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
It’s from @cheesethesecond! She told me once that you get writer’s block for a reason: because the story, as it currently stands, is not working. You should use writer’s block to take a step back, look over the story, and see where you’ve written yourself into a corner.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
“An Ever-Fixed Mark,” probably, because I am a sucker for Napoleonic-era adventures, and none of them ever star women. Don’t get me wrong, I love a Sharpe or a Hornblower or an Aubrey on film, and I quite liked the way they did Comandante Theresa in “Sharpe’s Rifles” but I kind of wanted Comandante Theresa just to have her own series. “An Ever-Fixed Mark” is like that for me. Elizabeth Bennet kicking ass and taking names in one of the time periods, and one of the military campaigns that most interests me.
18. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
Out of order! Usually I being a fic by jotting down bits of dialogue I think up, and then jumping around as I think up scenes. I go back and and link up all the scenes when I feel like a section is ready to be posted.
HOW DO YOU WRITE SO MANY WORDS SO QUICKLY:
uuuuh, I have a quick typing speed and more often just open Google Docs on my phone and write a bit whenever I get bored, or am on a long car ride, or am commuting to work, rather than look at tumblr or facebook. I’m not sure why but writing for me is almost more of a compulsion than a habit. I feel weird if I don’t manage to get some writing in each day.
24: Would you ever get any song lyrics tattooed? If so which ones?
LMAO yes like there’s so many lyrics id get?? (you look so cool, for you are not beside but within me, dont you mind, it takes a bit more, we’re all just the same what a shame, silent in the trees,…) i could go on forever
Would you ever do art streams that aren't metal Mondays?
lol yeah I announced on twitter just a bit ago that i was gonna working on “The Pit” shirt design instead of metal tarot tomorrow. I need to remember to tell y'all on Tumblr stuff like this as well. I’m getting the feeling based on the drop off in views that people aren’t really feeling like watching metal tarot Monday but they wanna see me do art. So I’m gonna try this as an experiment.
1975: what is the first happy memory that comes to mind, recent or otherwise? It’s a very recent one, actually: my family and I went for a late-night donut run last night and we were laughing and visiting the whole time.
converse: would you ever have a deep conversation with a stranger and open up to them? Probably not. I need to know people pretty well to open up to them. BUT! A deep conversation is certainly possible! :)
sunrise: pick a quote and describe what it means to you personally. “Friendship … is born at the moment when one man says to another ‘What! You too? I thought that no one but myself …’” by C.S. Lewis makes me cry because it is so true and comforting and makes me think of my friends. ^_^
You can say I spend majority of my year with Dan & Phil. I am so glad that the phandom welcomed me with open arms. I made a lot of new friends, did fun projects and achieved many goals that I’ve set for myself; like having an entire art summary filled with colours+digital and completing inktober. To me, it was been a very successful year. I may or may not still be in the phandom but where ever my art takes me, I hope to create new memories in 2017 like this year.
When I was a wee thing, my parents moved out the the Highly dubious condo in East Palo Alto and into a relatively nice suburban neighborhood, into a house immediately across the street from my new elementary school. Immediate, as in, less than 40 feet from the traffic circle. Mom would wave at me from the driveway sometimes while I was in class. This should have made getting me to and from school easy, but there was an issue:
I still had to cross the street, and because I was living in the over-caffeinated heart of silicon valley at the time, that meant dodging the local commuters barreling through the school zone at upwards of 40 miles per hour with no regard for the stop signs.
The flashing “School Zone” signs were ignored. The city refused to put in speed bumps or devote extra patrol cars. One of my classmates grandmother’s volunteered as crossing guard, and some jackass in a BMW ran over her foot on the first day.
Now, mom declared as we drove Mrs. Manchez to the hospital her foot in a beer cooler full of ice, Would be a good time to take the law into my own hands.
So after dropping Mrs. Manchez off at the hospital, we drove to the thrift store, where my mom found a navy blazer, aviator sunglasses, a pilot’s cap and an old, clunky-looking hair dryer.
The next morning, mom went out to the sidewalk in her new “uniform”, with the hair dryer and a legal pad so she could write down the grocery list. Every time a car would come roaring down the road, Mom would look up, point the hairdryer at them, and, and write something down.
I remember listening to brakes squeal all day the first time she tried it, Mercedes and BMWs screeching to a crawl as they passed the school, glaring at her. By that afternoon, cars were creeping along at an over-cautious 10mph, and I was able to get home without taking my life into my hands.
After that, Mom went out “in uniform” every couple of days, because intermittent re-enforcement is what REALLY gets a change in behavior going, and point the hair dryer at anyone speeding through the school zone, usually while writing down grocery lists or short stories, or drawing unflattering caricatures of the other PTA moms.
Eventually, however, one of the cars that came through was a patrol car, and he slowly pulled to a halt in front of mom, glaring at her though his own reflective glasses.
She smiled an waved the hair dryer. “Good afternoon!”
“…What’re you doing?” he groaned, 3 in the afternoon entirely too early for this shit.
“Writin’ a grocery list.” She beamed, and when that failed to satisfy him, she explained about the speeding problem and that if they couldn’t send a partol car out here to ticket people regularly, she figured that a hair dryer would be the next best thing. Working like a charm so far. They didn’t even notice the little airplanes on the Pilot’s hat.
The officer stared at her for a moment longer before his face broke out into a slow grin. “Y’know, when we’re out of a car, we usually wear visibility vests. So more people see you and your… Phaser.”
And that’s the story of how Mom and Officer Brown met and started the neighborhood watch program.
Ok so like I think Roadhog and Junkrat are both probably really good at chess?? theyre always missing pieces though so they need to write down some of them on paper slips (They make silly bets every game too)
