#183.5
  • Percy started signing at the age of 7
  • It was his idea, after this kid at his school was being followed by this woman who spoke with her hands to the boy every time the teacher spoke. Percy thought it was so weird and he asked the boy why he couldn’t talk
  • The lady was really nice to him about it, too. She told him the boy couldn’t hear and that this was his way of talking, even if he was in what he called a ‘hearing school’
  • Percy fell in love with the language instantly. He befriended the boy and the lady, and because of that everyone made fun of him for being around 'that weird kid’
  • By the end of the semester, Percy was able to talk to Jacob, the deaf kid, without having to used Amanda, the translator
  • When he went home for winter break, he eagerly showed Sally the new language he learned. Sally couldn’t believe Percy picked up on something like that so quickly, learning so much in only a few short months
  • Percy insisted that they learn, because 'Then Smelly Gabe doesn’t have to yell at us for being too loud.’
  • He taught her whenever he had the chance, which was those rare times they went grocery shopping or out buying new uniforms because Percy was afraid Gabe would pick up on this beautiful language
  • When Percy went back to school, he found out his deaf friend had to move. Heartbroken (platonically speaking) and alone, Percy’s grades stopped getting better and he went mute for the rest of the schon year, refusing to do schoolwork or activities. He buried himself into ASL, learning as much as he could before Sally got a letter shortly after April testing stating that Percy was not welcome back for the next grading cycle
  • As he got older, he used ASL more than ever. He went back to talking, but sometimes he found himself accidentally signing as he spoke. It started off subtlety, only being words like 'my mother’, 'wind’, 'let’s go’, and 'no/yes’
  • Sometimes he’ll forget he’s not deaf, or that “normal kids” don’t sign, and he’ll switch into ASL in an argument
  • Kids teased him for it
  • He won’t admit it out loud, but that was why he fired that cannon at that Revolutionary war memorial
  • He forced himself to stop signing when he went to Yancy. He couldn’t look his mom in the eyes for a week when she found out that those kids, the ones who teased him for learning the deaf language, were why he blew up a bus.
  • Grover met Percy and befriended him, not once learning of his hidden language ability
  • Percy secretly likes no one knowing about it. It felt kind of like a secret language a spy would use when she couldn’t talk to her partner
  • As he grew into his demigod life, he found ways to prevent the unintentional signing - spinning Riptide in his fingers, running a hand through his hair, crossing his arms, or simply tucking his hands into his pockets
  • When Gabe died, Sally and Percy stopped signing to each other. After all, they didn’t need to be secretive, right?
  • When Paul came around, Percy’s signing defense reactivated. He talked to his mom with his hands again, which had shocked the teacher
  • Sally reassured Percy that there was no way Paul would be like Gabe. Gabe was being used for his scent; Paul was here because he was sweet and kind and loving
  • Paul couldn’t understand a word of their conversation, and when he asked Sally what happened, she told him that ASL was Percy’s “escape” language
  • Percy was shocked when Paul asked him to learn. It proved to be very great bonding time between the 2 of them
  • Then Hera kidnapped Percy and wiped his memories
  • While he trained with Lupa, he found himself weaving strange hand gestures into his speech. He couldn’t understand how he knew what this one hand gesture meant, or how to say a certain phrase without having to talk, but he thought it was the coolest thing ever.
  • Something inside him told himself to keep the hand signals to himself, like a gut feeling
  • Lupa was always telling Percy to follow his gut
  • So he stopped signing, focusing on improving his battle movements
  • Sometimes, on the Argo 2, he would stand in front of the mirror and sign to himself
  • Once again, he hid his favourite language from his friends. This was his and his mom’s language, their special way of talking
  • No one was allowed to know it unless they had to
  • Not even his own father knew that Percy and Sally were ASL speakers
  • The quests fly by, Percy making a point to communicate with his mouth and not his hands
  • At the end of Saving The World Part Two™, the first thing he did was go see his mom and sign to her
  • Beautiful with an S is the name his friend Jacob gave her when Percy showed him a picture. That name was the first thing hr signed when he saw his mother again
  • The squeal Paul heard from the kitchen indicated that Sally had signed “I’m pregnant”
  • (Which, guys, totally happened to be all Percy’s fault. Don’t believe me? It took a month of travel to get to Rome. Apollo went MIA for 6 months, which means TOA took place 7 months after SON. Sally is seven months pregnant in The Hidden Oracle…)
  • Percy settled back down into his normal oral-only speech rule he made for himself
  • Then Annabeth called him and said that he needed to meet her in Boston
  • Percy packed up stuff and drove himself to Boston via Blackjack & Chariot taxi services
  • There he met Magnus, Blitzen, Sam, and Hearthstone
  • Annabeth cheerily introduced Percy to her 'mortal-not-so-mortal’ cousin
  • Magnus and Percy discussed stuff for a while before Hearthstone signed that he couldn’t understand what Percy was saying because his mouth formed words differently
  • Without meaning to, Percy instantly started signing an apology, explaining that New York City accents did that
  • And Annabeth nearly flipped the table
  • “What do you mean you’ve been signing since you were 7?!”
  • Percy was stuck trying to explain to Annabeth that him knowing another language like that was no big deal
  • But to Percy, ASL was a huge deal. It was his favourite and his secret language.
  • Annabeth was just mad that such an important piece of information about Percy was never brought to her attention
  • Like ever
  • Percy reluctantly taught her ASL
  • Their wedding vows and were exchanged with ASL

I'm 14 going on 15 and I hate how so many people who take a character that was just my age, and make creepy art and fic about him. I'm about to turn his current age and have been propositioned since I was 11 and was always told that adults who try things like that are perverts. So why is it when a bunch of 20 somethings pushing a teen who is around my age into a sexual relationship with an adult and do explicit crap, it's not perverted and gross? What about the teens who are feeling sexualized?

First off, thanks for writing me and being polite in your message.

The first thing I want to address is this: you should never be made to feel sexualized. Unless it’s with someone you want to be sexual with, like a crush of yours. Even with someone you consider a crush, if you don’t want to feel that way and don’t want to do anything that can be considered sexual (be it even a kiss), you should never feel forced. This is not just now because you’re a teen, this is something that all of us go through and need to keep in mind even in our 20s, 30s and so on.

I’m so sorry that you feel that way in real life because some adults are absolutely disgusting. They are. Adults that prey on children are absolutely disgusting and horrifying and you should call them out, tell your parents or your teachers or the police. I’m not kidding here. I know it’s hard and you might feel like you’re going to be made fun of, or that they won’t believe you, or that they will side with the adult, or that will belittle you and tell you it’s not a big deal. If you tell someone you trust, they won’t do all those things. Go with your guts. Tell, even if someone only threw nasty words at you or catcalled you (and I really hope you never went through anything heavier than that). In those cases there won’t be much that you can do, but telling someone will help.

What I can tell from your message, is that you (subconsciously or not) equate sex with generally being nasty and perverted. This will probably be unnecessary, but I’ll say it anyway: sex is not inherently gross or disgusting or creepy. If you feel that it is, then it means you’re not ready to enter a sexual relationship, and that’s perfectly fine and normal. I won’t tell you that that’s only because of your age, because some people never (or very rarely) show any interest in sex (it’s called asexuality and it falls under the LGBT+ spectrum). Whether you do end up growing to want sex or not doesn’t matter here.

What matters is that now you clearly don’t want to see sex and anything to do with it in your fandom experience and that’s fine. Tumblr offers you ways to make your experience better and show you only the content you want to see. Block any nsfw tag. Don’t follow blogs whose description clearly states that they post nsfw (like mine). Tumblr is a big and scary place if you just take everything it throws at you (be it ship hate, nsfw stuff, etc). The thing with it is that it can’t cater to everyone’s tastes, so you have to be active about blocking the stuff that YOU don’t want to see. Other 14-going-on-15 year olds might be okay seeing nsfw fanart and posts and that will be their Tumblr experience, but you should definitely take measures to protect yourself from what you don’t want to see.

Now, the thing about Otayuri is that no matter how you twist it, it’s not illegal to ship it, even in a sexual way. You should definitely read this post about it, because the thing is, as much as we can project our feelings and real-world stuff into anime characters, they’re not real.

I assure you that if Yuri on Ice was a flesh and bone show things would be different. I don’t really watch any current TV shows with teens in them so I can’t speak for what other fandoms do with their ship, whether they’re sexualized or not. I can only speak for this silly and amazing anime that’s been consuming my life for the past seven months or so.

Anime and cartoon characters are a safe way to explore things about real life. Whether it be sex or depression or anxiety or simply falling in love, we can all identify with an anime character and see our flaws, our fears and our history in them.

The thing you have to remember is that we (I’m speaking for the slightly older part of the fandom since I’m in my twenties) have been Yuri’s age. We’ve very likely had crushes on boys or girls that were a bit younger, our age or slightly older (like Otabek is). So I think for most of us, shipping Otayuri is a way to remember what it feels like to be a teen and be in love/have a huge crush. We will never be that age again, and maybe there’s things we regret not doing, crushes we wish we had confessed. By shipping Otayuri in an active way (meaning: drawing fanart or writing fanfiction) we can explore things we experienced as teens (or wish we had) and pour a little bit of ourselves in Yuri’s (or Otabek’s) character.

Those things might involve anything from simple fluff or rough sex, because, accept it or not, some people at 15 or 16 were (are) having sex of all kinds. Sweet, loving, rough, vanilla, kinky, you-name-it sex. So not to explore that aspect in a healthy way (through fics or fanart) would be lying about what reality is, it would be denying that we ever thought about or had sex at that age.

Much like with blocking tumblr content, you can choose what kinds of fanfiction you read. Only read General and Teen and Up tagged things, read about fluff and about falling in love in a sweet innocent way. Read anything tagged “Ace!Yuri” (it means asexual, the thing I was telling you about before).

But please understand this: when we sexualize Yuri, we’re mostly sexualizing our (often past) selves. Not other teens, not other real-life people. Yuri doesn’t exist in real life, and many of us see bits and pieces of ourselves in him. When we write about him we really write about ourselves, be it because we want to see how we (maybe a little sassier and bitchier version of us) would have confessed a crush to our best friend, or would have handled the aftermath of having just shoved our gloved fingers in said best friend’s mouth in front of thousands of people. Fanfiction is a study about versions of ourselves that never existed, but might as well have.

Another thing I need to make clear: Otabek is not an adult. I assure you that the morning of your 18th birthday you won’t feel like an adult. You’ll feel like the you from yesterday and it will be anticlimactic af, you’ll be like “That’s it?” and yeah, it will be it. Just because the law in some country or state says that 18 is the age of consent (which is set to 16 or 14 years old in many other countries) it doesn’t mean that you’re automatically an adult at that age. You can be 18 and have had sex since you were 14. You can be 18 and completely uninterested in sex. You can be 18 and have a 15 year old mental age, or you can be 16 and be mentally more mature than some 20 year olds.

What canon has shown us, is that Yuri and Otabek are much closer to each other’s mental age than the 2 years + a few months difference they share. I encourage you to find posts about why there’s no power imbalance between Yuri and Otabek, because they compete in the same sport and they have had similar experiences in life.

In conclusion, if you feel irked about nsfw fanart and fanfics and discussions when it comes to this particular ship, please don’t read it/watch it. But what I can assure you is that none of us are trying to sexualize you or your peers. When we sexualize pixels on a screen we don’t see those pixels as a flesh and bone version of a human, we only see an idealized character whose age we are or have been and whose personality and experiences we want to safely explore.

Also really important: when we write/draw NSFW, we don’t write/draw it for teens to read. I repeat: WE DON’T CREATE NSFW CONTENT FOR TEENS. We’re not your parents or guardians, we write NSFW for whoever feels like they can handle seeing nsfw content. If you’re a teen that goes on the nsfw tag and then complains about it (I’m not saying that’s what you did here, I’m speaking generally), it’s only your fault for going in a tag that you weren’t comfortable to begin with.

TL;DR:

  • Speak up if you feel sexualized IRL in a way you don’t like;
  • Learn how to use tumblr safely, block tags, understand that tumblr doesn’t do those things for you. Make your fandom experience exactly the one you want to see;
  • Don’t trust adults who tell you this ship is somehow illegal: it’s not;
  • Understand what’s behind fiction and fanfiction as a way we have to explore real life things (often too personal to write about as ourselves, so we project those things in characters we like);
  • Understand that adulthood is not something that happens from one day to another;
  • Learn to discern what content is meant to be consumed by a teen and what content isn’t;
  • Be safe.

Warning: Swearing

Peer Communications was one of the subjects you looked up to everyday and you loved it because you learnt how to behave with people and how to communicate with them. You sometimes asked for help whenever you were down and needed some advices. You also studied some psychological topics and it helped you to be more empathic towards other people.

One more thing you liked about it was the notes of encouragement bag. You could write some anonymous notes to people and put it in their bag. Its purpose was to encourage people so they would value their self-esteem and their existence in this world.

You thought that the idea was amazing and innovative, because it has been awhile since you’ve been secretly receiving love letters from someone from your class. You could admit that the person perfectly cheered you up, making you more confident whenever they would leave one in your bag, but it didn’t help you to kill your curiosity to find out who the person was.

“(Y/N), you look so pretty whenever you smile and it melts me every time I see your lips curving and with those perfect white teeth of yours exposing.” Alex read that little piece of paper with a smirk as you were talking about your secret admirer.

You two were in the library with Zach and Jessica while you were waiting for your next subject: Peer Communications.

“Aw, that’s so sweet.” Jessica complimented as she took the piece of paper from Alex’s hand and read it once again, with a lower tone this time.

“It is.” You bit your lip as you tried not to smile too much because of it. “I wonder who it is.” You wouldn’t sleep sometimes because of it and, being your ultimate crush, you kind of wished that it was Zach.

“Jesus Christ, that’s too damn corny!” Zach complaint and shook his head.

“Stop being jealous, Dempsey.” You winked at him as you teased him, but you were absolutely broken hearted for his reaction. You shrugged it off since you hinted that he was having a bad day, because he just gathered his things and walked away. “Zach!” You shouted as you tried to stop him.

“Zachary Dempsey!” Jessica tried to stop him too, but he just ignored you and he got out of the library, annoyed and vexed.

“Shh!” The old and stressed librarian scolded you and you just flashed her an apologetic smile. You were embarrassed, because you got some looks from your other fellow students and you heard soft giggles from Alex.

“I’m pulling your septum ring away if you don’t stop.” You threatened him and he suddenly closed his mouth, rolling his eyes. “Just kidding, Standall!” You and Jessica then giggled silently and Alex shook his head.

“(Y/N),” Alex became serious as he looked at you, straight into your eyes. “I think he’s jealous.”

“Jealous? Who?” You corrugated your forehead as you couldn’t understand what he was talking about.

“Jesus,” He let his face fall on his hands as he unleashed a long and deep sigh. “Zach!”

“What the fuck are you saying Alex?” You snatched a piece of paper from Alex’s hand and you started to gather your things. It was impossible that Zach was jealous, how could he? Didn’t he think that those stuffs were damn corny? “Don’t think about it that way, Mr. I jump into conclusions easily.”

“Why the fuck are these people so touchy?” Alex complaint as he looked at Jessica and pointed at you. You and Jessica both chuckled because Alex thought that you were annoyed and frustrated.

“I’m not being touchy, bro!” You defended yourself and you looked at your wrist watch for the time. “We’re going to be late if you don’t get your ass up.”

“Alright, let’s go.” They started to gather their things and you all went out of the library as you headed to your next class.

“Wait, I forgot my book!” Jessica exclaimed as she was controlling the books in her bag. “(Y/N), mind joining me?”

“Oh, sure!” You smiled at her and you were about to go away, when Alex stopped you.

“I’ll go with her, go inside the class (Y/N) and save us our seats.” Alex proposed and you just shrugged it off. They both went to Jessica’s locker and you entered your room.

“Zach?” You were surprised to see Zach and he was about to put a piece of paper inside your encouragement bag. How? You thought he never liked those stuffs.

“(Y/N)!” His eyes widened as he saw you entering the room. He didn’t expect to see you and he was frightened because you caught him. “Uhm, I- I…” He stuttered and he didn’t know what to say.

“You are my secret admirer?” You corrugated your forehead as you brought your hand to your slightly opened mouth, shocked of the revelation.

“Uhm,” He wandered around the room as he felt nervous and you could see that he was blushing. “read this.” He walked closer to you and handed you the paper, instead of putting it in your bag. He was already caught in action, why would he even escape?

“Thank you.” You shyly said as you carefully accepted the paper from his hand.
You slowly opened the folded paper and you were honestly excited to read what was written in it.

Dear (Y/N),

Hi! How are you? I know that it’s been awhile since you started receiving love letters from me and your curiosity is killing you every time, I always see you frustrated after reading my notes.
Anyway, I know that I suck at writing, but I wanted to let you know that I am liking you more and more every day. I am happy to be your friend and being just a friend is enough for me, if you don’t feel the same way. I sometimes hope that you feel or will feel the same way about me too, anyway. I am keeping my fingers crossed,

Take care always,
Zach
.

You silently read the short letter as the two of you stood in the middle of your classroom. You looked at Zach and you flashed him a sweet smile. Your heartbeat was getting louder and you became nervous and enthusiastically happy at the same time.

You wondered, though, why he acted strange earlier if he felt that way? Why would he be jealous, like what Alex hypothesized? Damn, look what Alex could do at you!

“Zach, you are the sweetest person ever.” He smiled at you and he pulled you into a hug.

“I understand if you don’t feel the same way about me,” You hugged him back and you were amazed by the height difference that you both had. He was surely tall and you had to admit that you felt a little bit small. “your friendship is enough.” He murmured and you could hear in his voice that he was wishing for more.

“Zach,” You broke the hug so you could see his handsome face. “you are sweet, kind and funny. It’s not impossible to not like you back.” You honestly confessed back and you quickly saw a wide smile forming on his lips, while he fidgeted with his fingers and looking at his shoes, as if they were the most interesting things in the world.

It was true that you had a crush on him for a while now and you never had the guts to admit it because you thought that it was the boy who should do the first step. Yup, old style.

“Rosie’s tonight then?” He happily asked. “So, we can talk about it.”

“Yeah, sure!” You hyperactively nodded and he let out some soft laughs.

You and Zach stared at each other for a while and you both didn’t know what to say because the awkward atmosphere. At that moment, you hated your classmates for not coming inside the classroom until the bell rang and you hated Jessica and Alex because they were taking too much time to get the freaking damn book.

“Zach!” You suddenly blurted out as you remembered that something was bothering you. “Why did you say that those stuffs were corny if you were the one who writes them?”

“The one that Alex has read wasn’t from me.” He seemed disturbed at the thought of that little letter.

“So, you were really jealous?” You smirked as you teased him and he rolled his eyes.

“Uhm, yes,” He almost whispered as he answered your question sincerely. He looked at the ground as he tried to hide his reddish face. “because I saw that you were so happy because of it and I thought that you didn’t like me and you liked that one, instead.“ He explained and you just giggled. You didn’t know that he was that possessive and you honestly loved it. A possessive and overprotective boyfriend was what you were asking for.

“Silly!” You shook your head because he thought that you didn’t like him. “I still wonder who wrote that note though.”

“My fault!” Alex entered the classroom and winked at Zach, who was already giving him a death glare. You raised an eyebrow as you asked for explanations from that vexatious friend of yours. “I knew that he liked you and I told you that he was jealous.”

“Damn it, Standall!” Zach complaint, but Alex didn’t seem to care that much. You smiled because you understood what he tried to do and you couldn’t help but to love that idiot even more, of course, as a friend.

“Congrats!” He cheerfully teased the two of you. “By the way, I really thought that you have a really nice and perfect smile, (Y/N), and I can confirm it now.” He pointed it out as he saw you smiling widely for his actions.

You shook your head together with and stopped as soon as the bell rang. You went to your seats as the other students came inside the room. You kept on getting smirks and teasing winks from Alex, but you just threw him a crumpled paper in response.

Your favourite subject was about to start and you wanted to thank your teacher for making those bags of encouragement up. It was really a useful and a pleasant idea.

At least, it helped you to be more confident and it has got you a date for that night.

Hi! Can I ask what are your top fics of 2017 so far? The fics I've been reading for the past week(s) were all from 2015/16.. So I've been wanting to catch up with the new ones. :) Thanks looove

Oh shit, that’s a hard question ^^

(I’ll update this until the end of the year)(also this is mostly in chronological order of my reading)

- Fall At My Door , by @fullonlarrie : A-list actor Harry Styles and award-winning musician Louis Tomlinson have an acquaintances-with-benefits relationship, so whenever their busy professional lives happen to land them in the same city, they meet up. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. And that’s all it is. Until it isn’t. (30k, E)

- Feels Like Coming Home , by @phd-mama : The last thing Harry Styles expects when he’s hanging out at the Someday Cafe in Somerville one rainy October day is for his ex, Louis Tomlinson to walk through the door, but that’s exactly what happens. After a spectacularly ugly break-up three years prior, Harry hasn’t heard one word from Louis, and he’s moved on. Gotten over him. But having Louis back in his life, not to mention working at the restaurant where he’s a chef, isn’t easy, and the feelings that Harry thought he’d left turn out to be not so easily forgotten. This is a story about love and the power of forgiveness, and how the hard choices we make define us, and change our lives. (60k, E)

- Saved Tonight , by objectlesson : Harry is the world’s most persistent seduction-baker, a questionable dog-sitter, and Louis’s biggest fan. Louis hasn’t written in years, is trying to pass loneliness off as cynicism, and absolutely hates his fans. It’s probably destiny. (30k, E)

- Just Breathe , by @a-writerwrites and @dimpled-halo: Louis pops his head into the kitchen, “You alright?”Harry smiles shaking his head, “Just my clumsy arse at it again,” he says laughing.“I oughta put you over my knee and give you a good spanking,” Louis mutters, chuckling.Harry freezes.  His pulse races so hard he can feel the blood rushing fast and hot throughout his body, like a livewire, zinging through him in a delirious rush.  His mouth goes dry, and his eyes are wide.  And when Louis turns around to look at him after being silent for so long, it’s like Louis just knows.  He understands.  Harry loves him so fucking much.  **** OR the one where Harry and Louis are on a journey through life together — one that includes discovering dark, hidden parts of themselves that only the other can find. (50k, E)

- Then We Talk Slow , by @letsjustsee : (…) A famous/non-famous AU in which Louis banters back and forth with his new record company on Twitter, only to find out that Harry is the man behind the tweets. (20k, E)

- Riptide , by FlyingAlwaysInColor : AU in which Louis loses his amazing mum, and is sent on a forced holiday to a luxury spa resort where he meets a green-eyed butterfly-angel and an adventurous Irishman who help him start to heal by administering equal doses of love and laughter. (91k, E)

- Reduce Me To A Pleading Cry (Break The Skin and Tantalize) , by @taggiecb : As the CEO of Styles & Styles, Harry Styles cuts a brooding and handsome figure at the helm of a very successful business. His reputation for intensity is well known, but you would be intense, too, if you had to work numbers all day, give countless orders, and conduct endless meetings. When all you really want to do at night–ache to do–is give away the reins, let someone else make the decisions, be ordered around for once, just–let go. Harry has reached his breaking point when one touch from a man whose very stance commands attention leads him back to a place he thought he’d never return. Or Harry is a broody submissive boss, Louis is a natural dom who works in the mail room at Styles & Styles, Niall is a matchmaking oracle, and a slender, dark haired man stands mute at the coffee stand encouraging others to spill their secrets. (33k, E)

- Resist Everything Except Temptation , by @domestic-harry :   (…) The one where Louis is the commodore’s son who is forced to become a part of Harry’s crew when he is captured. (100k, E)

(more under the cut, this list is gonna be so long …)

Please rate the Lancers so the world may have a clear and obvious objective base on which Lancers are the best characters because subjectivity isn't real and it is clear you are the expert on all things Lancer and thus are qualified to be the definitive objective source for all opinions on Lancers. the best lancer which is why he’s the one everyone thinks of when you say ‘lancer’. the beauty. the muscles. the spandex. the personality. the voice. the colour palette. the archetype he represents. the way he fits into the rest of the fate cast. his skillset. his animations. the ultimate. the absolute. could’ve just stopped making lancers after this one bc they’ll never top this one. EX/10

handsome. entry level thirst but that’s not necessarily bad. victimises himself a lot in zero so people going uwu poor baby on him piss me off just a lil because both the situation with grainne and with sola was supposed to be morally ambiguous and out of everyone’s control. I like how he’s a good example of how feitos are kinda doomed to repeat the same mistakes of their legend. my top fav until I played fsn and learnt what true love is (its cu). 8/10

a good boy! a handsome boy! a boy of many talents! just wants to help at all times but never learnt how to mince words so he comes across as the absolute rudest fucker. in ccc he lists “his own poor communication skills” as the thing he dislikes. 10/10

wants to clear his name as bloodthirsty vampire but only the vampire part because he knows what he did and he won’t try to deny it, he just wants to clear up the things that were added later he didn’t do. very good and nuanced. very spicy uncle. spicier uncle but less personality. 8/10 why did he have to be a package deal with that fucking clown

pls no bully. treated as kind of a joke a lot but a really nice character if you pay attention. absolutely as bloodthristy and evil as her legends but all because she was genuinely never taught different and therefore doesn’t realise her actions are evil and the reason she is hated. desperate to be loved because her literal life depended on it. later on starts to slowly realize just how fuckedth she is and tries to make amends even though she knows full well she can’t possibly ever make up for everything she did. hates her future self’s guts because she knows what she did will make her end up like that but still wants to change it somehow because this time she knows it was wrong. 10/10 please god let CCC get localised

if i see one more fucker say she has no personality I will FIGHT I love her. insanely powerful and worked hard for it but because of it reached a point where none of her achievements are achievements anymore and instead are just something she would’ve done eventually bc she has all the time in the world for it. claims to want to die but actually just wants to feel alive again. actually pretty easily excited especially when fights to the death are involved but feels like she has to keep up a composed teacher front. an overcompetent mess who has no idea how to do anything without doing the Most. 100/10

now THERE’s a lancer girl with no personality. I’m sorry bryn you’re beautiful beyond belief but fragments has a bad writer and I hope you get to shine in fgo sometime bc that’s what saved arash and ozymandias 7/10

treated entirely as a joke in fgo so far and mostly known in fate for getting cucked but his legend has a lot more and is actually pretty cool so I hope he gets to be taken seriously sometime too. dressed up as a baby once to avoid fighting a dude bigger than him. stabbed himself in the face to avoid falling into a magic sleep and then fucked up a dude another time. now that’s what I call a grab bag of a character! 7/10

So here’s an email I just sent to Marvel, in case you’re interested

To the editors of Marvel Comics:

Many of the letters in your letters pages begin with the writer’s long history of reading comics as evidence that you should care about their opinion and want to keep them as a customer. While I may be relatively new to comics, I think I’m a pretty desirable customer. Not only do I have disposable income and a willingness to spend money on physical books in a brick-and-mortar comic shop, but I’m also a teacher and librarian with the power to get your books in the hands of the next generation.

Until recently, I was thrilled to do just that. I teach at a school that serves a very diverse population and I wanted to expose my students to heroes who look like them. I bought them Miles Morales, Sam Wilson, Ms. Marvel, Silk, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, various team books, and more. I did this not with the school’s budget, but with my own money (and I of course took the opportunity to read them myself first).

For myself (although I also share most of them with students), I have every issue of Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat!, The Mighty Thor, Mockingbird, Storm, and most of the recent Black Widow and Captain Marvel runs. I’ve been eagerly awaiting Nick Fury and America, and was not disappointed by their #1s. I’ve loved so much of what Marvel has given me over the past few years; I got to see parts of myself and the people I love in these books, parts that I don’t always get to see in popular media.

But none of the above were the characters that got me into comics; that honor belongs to Steve Rogers. I fell in love with him in the movies, with his steadfastness and his sense of justice and his belief in doing the right thing and protecting individuals. I went back and read Brubaker’s Winter Soldier arc, but was too intimidated by the vastness of the Marvel universe to read many of the books he was currently appearing in when I first started reading comics.

And then I found out he was being restored to his young self and getting a new series. I was ECSTATIC. I couldn’t wait to get it and see what new adventures this amazing character would go on. When I found out about the twist at the end of #1, I was upset, but everyone assured me that this is comics - it’ll be mind control or a decoy or some other trick. Soon everything would be back to normal. But as I realized how committed everyone at Marvel was to the reality of Steve-the-Hydra-Agent, I also realized that this was a book that didn’t want me as a reader. This version of Steve Rogers seemed to have nothing in common with the Steve Rogers I had fallen in love with. As a queer woman with Jewish ancestry, I felt like my concerns were dismissed and that I was unwelcome.

So I didn’t buy the book. I kept my other subscriptions and continued to enjoy them, all the while waiting for the trick-behind-the-trick that everyone else seemed sure would come. And then Secret Empire began.
I don’t know if I can put into words how it felt to find out that according to this new story, Steve Rogers has never been a hero at all. The closest I can get is that it was a punch in the gut, although I feel the cliche fails to accurately convey the strength of my response.

Stories matter. Heroes matter. And in a world that feels full of pain and fear and darkness, stories and heroes matter even more. The people I love are living with a lot of fear right now - fear of deportation, fear of losing access to health care, fear of being attacked for who they love or the color of their skin - and so am I. We need heroes who can remind us of why we fight, why we resist, why we rise above, why we plant ourselves like a tree and say “no, you move.”

Steve Rogers used to be that hero for me and for many others. To take a hero like Steve Rogers and destroy everything that made him who he was, everything that he was created to be…I don’t know why that is a story that Marvel wants to tell right now. Or ever. It is incomprehensible to me.

And it leaves me torn. I have asked my shop to not pull any books related to Secret Empire for me, and a part of me wants to firmly declare that Marvel will never see another cent of my money at all. The other part of me remembers how much I have loved and appreciated my other experiences as a Marvel fan, the encouragement that your characters and stories have given me, the ways they’ve made me laugh and given me something to look forward to, a bright spot in the middle of the week.

I don’t know if I will keep buying Marvel comics. I want to, but I’m not sure you want me to. Right now, it seems like I’m the type of customer that you don’t want at all - the customer who values the diversity you’ve blamed for the sales slump and who wants her good guys to be good, even when it’s hard.

Hoping to remain a fan,
Rachel A.

Derek has a new neighbor who won’t stop looking.

Excerpt:

“You’re blind,” Derek said flatly, the anger draining from him so suddenly he felt almost woozy. His vision cleared, his claws sliding back into blunt fingernails.

“Thanks for the memo, genius,” the kid said acidly. “I can still fucking defend myself, so don’t take another damn step.”

“Fuck, I…I’m sorry,” Derek stuttered.

“What?!” The kid’s brow crinkled. “I mean — what?! You’re fucking sorry!?” His lips thinned into a harsh line. “What, is this some kinda Hallmark movie where you’re discovering the error of your ways because you don’t want to rob a blind person?! That’s fucking condescending, man. I’ll have you know that —”

“Just, wait.” Derek interrupted what was apparently the start of a convincing argument as to why he should rob the kid after all, feeling his head start to spin. “This is — it’s a misunderstanding. I’m — I’m not robbing you. You’re — you’re safe, okay? I’m taking three steps back. Just — just let me explain.”

“Explain why you came busting into my apartment? Yeah, go right ahead, man, I can’t wait to hear this epic tale.”

Capes are Cool (but they don’t make a hero) by chantelle82 (3/3 | 7,068 | PG13)

The story of how Stiles and Derek fall in love and became heroes - to each other

Numbers by standinginanicedress (1/1 | 11,150 | PG13)

“I’m magic,” Stiles raises his hands in the air and puts on a serious facial expression. “I have the sixth sense.”

“The sixth sense, huh? Is that what they’re calling bullshit these days?”

Stiles’ lips purse down hard, but he still smirks. Derek wonders if there’s any single facial expression that Stiles can make that isn’t in some way at least slightly amused, whether at himself or the expense of others. “Non-believers aren’t welcome at my table, Derek.”

It’s Too Early For This by thepsychicclam (1/1 | 4,966 | PG13)

Derek loves his job at the coffee shop, especially because Stiles comes in for coffee before early Saturday morning lacrosse practices. The problem is that Derek is too shy to do anything about his crush, and the situation is not helped by the rivalry between the basketball and lacrosse teams.

Hale Construction by Mynuet (1/1 | 8,342 | G)

Derek gets a business and a home. Stiles gets his own Batman. The sheriff gets hash browns. The Stilinski household is expanded without anyone quite talking about it.

A’s:

A Heart is a Heavy Burden by lielabell (13/13 | 41,242 | PG13)

In Which Stiles: is accosted by unhappy witches, becomes friends with fire demons, is rescued by darkly handsome wizards, discovers hidden inner depths, is introduced to princes, and finds true love. Though not necessarily in that order.

(Or the Howl’s Moving Castle AU fusion fic you never knew you wanted but are delighted to have.)

French Silk Pie, Baby by KuriKuri (1/1 | 2,649 | PG13)

“See, your angel of a sister - ” Derek scoffs. Cora hasn’t been an angel since she was five months old. “ - agreed to date me, because my visa is about to expire and - ”

“I’d have to marry you for that, dumbass,” Cora butts in, rolling her eyes.

“Are you saying you wouldn’t marry me to keep me in the country?” Stiles asks, sounding mildly offended.

“Hell no,” Cora snorts, earning her a wounded look from Stiles.

Twice in a Lifetime (AKA The Importance of Snuggle Buddies) by normalcatbehaviour (1/1 | 1,761 | G)

It takes him a while to actually notice it’s not just Stiles sprawled across their couch, but to be fair to him, he isn’t really thinking about anything but finally getting some sleep and maybe liberating one of the cookies that Stiles thinks are well hidden behind the microwave. He’s half way to covering the boys up with a blanket when he finally notices.

That is definitely not Scott McCall.

It is in fact definitely Derek Hale. Derek Hale the 26 year old. Who his son is currently lying on, head tucked under Derek’s chin, Derek’s hands clenched in the back of his t-shirt.

“Um,” the Sheriff says. He wasn’t prepared for this.

tongue of dog and blind-worm’s sting by Zercalo (7/7 | 51,909 | NC17)

In order to keep the identity of the teacher he’s been seeing a secret, Derek’s been withdrawing from his pack and family. Cora, frustrated with his alienation and a little lonely, clings to the first nonjudgmental person who offers companionship – which happens to be that odd Muggleborn Revenclaw who’s always hanging around the Gryffindor common room.

She hasn’t befriended Stiles for Derek’s sake, but Derek just might reap the benefits anyway - if he pulls his head out of his ass and quit the stupid self-sacrificing act.

No Homo by RemainNameless (11/11 | 84,064 | NC17)

Stiles’ sophomore year starts something like this:
3 FourLokos
+ 1 peer-pressuring cat
- 1 best bro to end all best bros
= 1 Craigslist ad headline that reads “str8 dude - m4m - strictly platonic”.
Derek is the fool who replies.

Kass’:

Filter Out the Starlight by skoosiepants (1/1 | 12,238 | PG13)

“Why are you not more curious about me?” Stiles says when Derek’s got the door half open, sun spilling over the dark wood, dust motes spinning about his legs. Stiles is wearing fabric that hasn’t been invented yet, he’s clutching a smart phone to his chest, and he appeared out of nowhere, like an angel.

Softly, Derek says, “We all have our secrets,” and closes the door.

A heartbroken Stiles accidentally travels back in time to find his one true love. A harlequin-ish Christmas romance.

Regression to the Mean by theroguesgambit (1/1 | 16,546 | R)

There aren’t really words for this. “Sure, dude. Let’s hang out sometime and bond over the fact that our lives suck and we’ve both basically killed a bunch of people by accident” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

Prompt: In the aftermath of 3B, Stiles and Derek learn to trust, learn to fuck, and learn to love themselves, each other, and their pack.

I Breathe Disaster by TamzStripped (12/12 | 84,946 | NC17)

“No. I’m not doing it. You can’t make me, Scott.”

“Don’t be such a wuss. You don’t want to die, do you? This is the only way to keep you safe from the Alpha pack.”

“Why not Danny? He’s actually gay, kind of adorable, and doesn’t look at me like he wants to shut me up…with his teeth.” Stiles threw his arms out in front of him, Scott shook his head for the thousandth time. “Why not?”

or

How Stiles went from hating Derek, to wanting to cuddle him, to hating him again, to kissing his boo-boo’s, to waxing poetic, then finally laying his life on the line to save him. Funny how things turn out.

Don’t You Wanna Be My Sky? by WhoNatural (1/1 | 9,420 | G)

Stiles got ratted out by the Realm Guard for sneaking off with Scott a total of seven times before his dad buckled, promising sabbatical once Stiles reached Faehood, and enough Earth culture in the meantime to have him talking like a born-and-bred Californian teenager.

He just didn’t have the tan.

(Or, in which Stiles is a Frost Fae sent to the Earth Realm on the Fae version of Rumspringa and immediately falls head-first into a Coffee Shop AU)

Mauve by bleep0bleep (1/1 | 7,380 | NC17)

It’s been ten years since he’s seen Derek Hale, but Stiles would recognize that ass anywhere.

Tine’s:

The Fixer and the First Son by ebjameston (10/10 | 47,625 | PG13)

“You want me to arrange a political marriage for your son?” Stiles repeats dumbly.

“It wouldn’t be the first time you’ve done this,” Talia Hale says, dark eyes twinkling over her impeccable blue pantsuit. “Senator Harvey and Elise’s match worked out perfectly, and they’re actually quite in love, from what I hear.”

“George Harvey was a little-known senatorial candidate from Kansas at the time, Madam President,” Stiles says slowly. “Your son – you, Mr. Hale,” he directs toward the man pacing tiny circles behind the president’s chair, “are the nation’s most eligible bachelor. Literally. I saw it on the cover of People.”

(Stiles is a political fixer. Derek is the president’s son. I’ve been watching too much Scandal.)

Part 1 of Stilinski & Associates

steal my breath away by stilinskisparkles (1/1 | 4,454 | PG13)

This is the worst organised robbery I’ve ever seen,” Derek comments as he begrudgingly does as he’s told.

“Nobody asked you,” Stiles huffs.

Home by TheTypewriterGirl (17/18 | 160,430 | PG13)

January seventh. Seven days since the start of 2015, and seven days since his father’s death.

The bastard, he thinks bitterly. The past year Derek Hale had made it blatantly obvious that he hated his scrawny guts, taking every given opportunity to shove him up against a wall, growl threats in his ears and roll his eyes whenever he stepped into the room, muttering some snide comment about how spastic or idiotic he was.

So why did he fucking volunteer to take him in?

Sowing Season by WeAreTheCyclones (28/? | 177,873 | R)

Just a bunch of kids doing teenage stuff: starting bands and terrorizing teachers and hurting like hell and falling for each other. The usual.

Part 3 of Play Crack the Sky

The Circus at the End of the World by mikkimouse (25/25 | 91,049 | NC17)

Three hundred years ago, the world ended not with a bang or a whimper, but with magic.

Since then, magic has been outlawed, and the world has clawed its way back to some kind of stability, with people and shifters alike divided between living within the walled safety of the Havens, or the small, less protected outposts dotting the frontier.

Derek Hale and his sisters, Laura and Cora, are the proprietors of Hale’s Circus of Magic, Monsters, and Mystical Wonders, known colloquially as the Circus at the End of the World. They and their ragtag pack ride the rails between the outposts and the Havens, performing for those who can pay (and some who can’t). Their circus is a small haven in and of itself, a place of safety for those who have nowhere else to go.

It’s a quiet life…until Stiles Stilinski joins the crew.

The circus has something Stiles needs—a ticket into the Haven of Santa Francesca. His father has been abducted, and Stiles is determined to get him back no matter what he has to do.

But Stiles has another secret, one that puts him and every member of the circus in danger. And if he’s not careful, it could get them all killed.

Writting Prompt: Danny cries in his sleep, sometimes really loud. And screams. Once he even transform while sleeping. The problem is, he start to doing it when he fall asleep in class. Hope it's good enough to write

angst oh god what is with this phandom and angst okay here’s ur angst with a heavy dose of weird millennial humour because this bitch can’t angst without a metric fuck of comedy sprinkled all over the place

also I’m sick and wrote half of this in the middle of the night while feverish so like, I did my best

“OKAY THIS IS FINE.” Danny said aloud to the floor. He didn’t really intend the floor to be the recipient of his ire but it was where his face was currently planted so it would just have to ding darn diddly deal with it.

Danny had experienced his fair share of being stuck in awkward positions but this one had rivalled many of his top ten, and he hadn’t even been thrown across a room by a ghost to achieve it! Nope, he just fell out of bed.

One arm was flung out before him, the other awkwardly pulled behind his back, still twisted up in his bedsheets, along with his leg. Just the one leg, the other was hanging - in quite a remarkable display of inhuman dexterity - over his shoulder.

All it took was some gut wrenching, heart stopping, bile inducing nightmares. Nothing fancy really, just the visceral image of everyone he loved and cared about DYING from TOO MUCH FIRE right in front of his eyes as he watched helplessly. Yep.

“THIS IS FINE.” Danny said again, a little louder this time. The carpet smelled like feet, Danny decided maybe he should take his eating hole off the gross floor before he caught a foot fungus on his lip. He knew it was possible, it happened to Ricky Marsh once at camp.

Yeah Danny should REEEAAAALLY get his face off that carpet. Right now, yep. He was gonna get up at this very mome-

Jazz heard a loud snore come from Danny’s bedroom. He was supposed to be up half an hour ago, school started in ten minutes. But she knew he had a plate piled high with superhero shenanigans that kept him up at obnoxiously late hours nine nights out of ten. The bags under his eyes could hold all the homework he never got done, with extra space for his unfinished chores.

Jazz was fully prepared to sneak in and firmly tuck him into bed with ghost proof sheets, a lie, an excuse and at least three compromises balanced on her tongue ready to jump at any parent and/or teacher that wanted her brother out of the warm sanctuary of bed today. Then she heard his gentle snores twist into a devastatingly soul crushing little whimper.

Oh boy, that wasn’t good.

Jazz opened her brother’s bedroom door and quietly peered inside to find… no one. He wasn’t there. Typical ghost bullshi-

Jazz had almost closed the door when she heard it again, that tiny little whimper. Was he invisible? She thought to herself, barely acknowledging how fucking weird her life had gotten that that question came so naturally to her.

Jazz padded into the room and found that Danny had, somehow, managed to fall asleep on the floor beside his bed. One leg still hanging in the air via blanket sling, it was almost funny, until he screamed that is.

Jazz nearly jumped out of her spotty blue socks when a noise ripped out of her sleeping brother’s throat, a noise that honestly could have come from the cutting room floor of a horror flick that was deemed too terrifyingly violent to be shown on screens literally anywhere. His back was arched, his mouth wide, hands curled in on themselves, he almost looked as though he were convulsing.

It stopped suddenly, with a gasp and a jolt Danny woke. He didn’t shoot up or flail about, he just laid down on the floor, eyes blearily noticing that there was another person in the room. Jazz sat down by his side as he wiped his face, staring at the tears on his hands.

“Are you okay?” she asked.

Danny glared at her.

“Sorry, standard question.” Jazz mumbled as she unhooked his foot from the clinging bedsheets. “Do you want to talk about it?”

Danny, still laying on the floor, swung his right arm around, it had gone numb and tingly, the kind of numb and tingly that really hecking hurt when he started moving it again, yeesh.

“I had this really gnarly dream,” he started as he massaged his arm, Jazz listened intently. “I ordered a sandwich without mayo but when I bit into it there was mayo like, EVERYWHERE and-”

Jazz dropped a pillow on his face.

“That was rude.” Danny’s muffled voice grumbled.

“If you don’t want to talk about it you can just say so instead of being an asshole.” Jazz huffed as she found a pair of jeans and a shirt that were Clean Enough and threw them at the pillow. “You were crying and screaming, I was WORRIED.”

Danny pulled the pillow and clothes away and looked at his sister, actually looked her in the face. Her eyebrows were pulled tight and she was gnawing on her bottom lip, she really did look worried. Danny sat up and fished a somewhat pungent binder from under his bed, Pariah’s Oath he really needed to do his laundry.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” he stared down at his hands, face suspiciously neutral.

“Okay.” Jazz’s voice was gentle, she wasn’t going to push it, she’d learned a long time ago that it always just made things worse. “That’s okay, just know you can always talk to me, alright?”

Danny stood up and stretched, joints cracking and popping in a way that made Jazz want to barf. He could feel his arm again, thank the Ancients.

“You say that now, but every time a new rocket model comes out-”

“Bye Danny.” Jazz fucked off faster than Johnny’s shadow at dawn, absolutely Not wanting to stick around for another geeky space rant. Danny’s shit eating grin followed her out the door until it clicked shut, suddenly dropping back into the deadass tired face of a student who was entirely convinced that consistent sleep schedules were a myth.

He was not okay, ooooh he was so not okay.

Falling asleep again had been a mistake, a GRAVE mista- no okay, no, that pun was just inappropriate. He’d just had not one, but TWO disgustingly detailed nightmares about Literally Everyone dying, death puns were OFF the table right now.

Regular puns were still on the cards though, he thought to himself as he plopped his Little Pocket Book of Puns on top of a deck of cards sitting on his desk. He was proud of that one, in fact he snapchatted it, his smug face squeezed into the corner of the shot by the words ‘passng chem is off the cards bt my puns arnt’. It was easy to fool people with photos, he only had to pull off one good smile and people thought he was fine.

The flood of horrified snapchats he received in return made him giddy. Everything from a two minute video of Valerie trying not to hurl to a picture of Dash’s middle finger. Danny grinned, his grin looked genuine, it was not.

“This is fine.” he lied.

*RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING*

Danny barely made it through the door before the bell went off, he celebrated his victory with a very brief and offensively outdated dance move before Tucker threw a pen at his head and the teacher told him to sit down before he hurt himself.

Danny’s goofy grin remained plastered onto his face as he sat next to Tucker, who was giving him the kind of look that was usually reserved for the weird surrealist internet videos Nathan always tagged him in on Facebook.

“You are like…” Tucker started, fiddling with the broken nib of his stylus. “Super hyper today what the fu-”

“Language, Foley.” the homeroom teacher deadpanned from behind his book.

“Sorry sir! But seriously what the fuck dude.” Tucker continued at a still very perceptible volume. The teacher sighed heavily.

“It’s cool I’m fine I just got like two hours of sleep and drank five coffees in ten minutes I think I can hear colours.” Danny’s eye twitched.

Tucker didn’t laugh, Danny was trying to be funny but it was like, twelve year old funny. He sighed and lowered his voice.

“You’re having nightmares again aren’t you.” Tucker stared through Danny’s plastic grin with serious eyes. “We talked about this Danny, I told you to STOP faking this shit with me. You know what happens when you don’t get enough sleep, you get really fucking weird.”

“Did you get my snapchat this morning?” Danny asked as though he hadn’t heard a single word his best friend had just said.

“Yes, it was awful and I hate you.” The jab had no bite, Tucker couldn’t stand seeing Danny like this, it was like some awful parody of his friend amped up to eleven. He didn’t bother trying to talk sense into him, sense was gone, sense was out the window, sense was on the next plane to god damn Timbuktu.

Danny’s giddiness didn’t let up a single inch throughout their first couple of morning classes. He had stupid jokes and shitty puns hidden up every sleeve in the building, and the tiniest little thing would set him off giggling. Star smacked a fly with a ruler, Danny literally fell off his chair laughing.

Mr Lancer gave Tucker permission to drag Danny out into the hallway to calm down. Tucker grimaced in apology as he dragged along a snorting Danny by the sleeve, the rest of the class having a good laugh of their own.

“Do you think he’s like, actually on drugs or something?” Tucker heard Paulina whisper not even remotely quietly as they left the room.

The moment the classroom door had closed, Tucker slammed Danny against the wall.

“DUDE! GET. A. GRIP.” Tucker was not even in the general vicinity of fucking around right now. Danny needed to chill his tits before he got into serious trouble, the last thing he needed was a detention lumped on top of the pile of reasons Danny’s life was a train wreck.

Danny clenched his teeth, his eyes were wide, too wide. Then his mouth curled up and a laugh squeezed its way through taught lips. Oh no, not again. Not on Tucker’s watch. Before the next giggle fit could get into full swing Tucker had pulled out his drink bottle, uncapped it, and dumped the entirety of its contents on Danny’s stupid guffawing head.

A cough and a splutter later and Danny was sitting on the floor, the stupid grin officially washed from his face.

“Can we talk like actual human beings now?” Tucker asked, the plastic water bottle thudding emptily on the ground.

“I’m not an ‘actual human being’. So no. I can’t.” Danny’s voice was short and clipped, his expression stony.

Tucker slumped to the floor next to his best friend, ignoring the puddle he was half sitting in. They sat in silence for a bit, listening to Mr Lancer’s muffled voice droning on about adverbs or something. A squeak from someone’s shoe echoed down the empty hall. A fluorescent light flickered. Danny winced.

“You wanna borrow my earphones? I’ve got some chill tunes if you need to like, shut everything out for a bit.” Tucker held the tangled cords out to Danny who promptly stuck them in his ears and buried his face in his arms. It was all just, just too much right now.

He threw his hands over his ears when the bell rang, Tucker put a gentle arm around his shoulder.

“C'mon, it’s about to get really loud out here.” he said quietly, taking Danny by the arm and leading him to their next class. It was history, they were watching a movie. Perfect. Tucker rolled up his jacket and put it on the desk in front of Danny.

“Try and sleep a bit, if you can. You can copy my notes later.”

Tucker was a good friend.

Danny put his head down, Tucker’s chill playlist still thrumming softly in his ears. He didn’t want to sleep, he didn’t want to see everyone die again, but his eyes could barely stay open. He read somewhere online that just laying down and resting was still good for you, even if he didn’t sleep he could still get some energy back at least, maybe.

He was out like a light the moment his head hit Tucker’s jacket.

The dream was never the same. Every time it started as just a regular weird ass dream, he was at the Nasty Burger, but he was sitting at his kitchen table. His friends were there, so was some guy he’d never met, they were talking about monster trucks or… something. The guy he didn’t know was showing him a song he wrote, it was gentle and calm, Danny liked it.

That was when the Guys in White showed up. They’d been there before, but not every time. Danny remembered the last dream he had, vaguely, he didn’t know he was dreaming now, but he knew what was going to happen next.

“RUN!” he tried to scream, but his voice came out strangled and quiet. Sam and Tucker kept chatting, they couldn’t see the danger, the strange guy started playing a different song, he had an acoustic guitar now and was on a stage that wasn’t there before.

The Guys in White aimed their ectoguns, knocking off shots around the entire Nasty Burger, Valerie collapsed behind the counter, had she always been there? Jazz was next, she was reading a book on the lounge that had definitely been there the whole time. Danny kept trying to scream, but his throat just couldn’t make anything more than a strangled rasping noise.

Sam and Tucker collapsed before him, the music changed again, the guy on the stage had a smoking hole in his chest, he was playing a cello now. The music was calm, soft and gentle, it hadn’t stopped during the shooting. The GIW agent at the head of the group turned to Danny, face splitting into an evil grin, flaming hair licking at his temples, it wasn’t a GIW agent any more. It had never been a GIW agent.

Danny tried to transform, he needed to save them, they were dead but he NEEDED to save them, if he could go ghost, if he could change he could fix this. His core felt so far away, the cold chill within him just JUST out of his grasp. Why couldn’t he change? WHY COULDN’T HE CHANGE?

Tucker sat at his desk in the dark classroom, taking halfassed notes about… something something president Washington. Hadn’t they already covered this? A flash at the edge of his vision pulled his tired gaze over to the sleeping mess beside him. Danny made a noise, a whimper? It sounded like he was trying to say something.

“Ru… ru-” Danny muttered, voice broken and, oh god he sounded so terrified.

Tucker’s heart splintered into tiny little pieces, and those tiny pieces shattered until his heart was basically just a pile of powder, really sad and devastated powder. Concentrated melancholy, in powder form. He nudged Danny.

“Danny, Danny wake up. Dude you’re talking in your sleep, WAKE UP.” Tucker was super worried, like beyond overprotective mother worried, if Danny said something incriminating in his sleep, if he said something about PHANTOM-

“Gotta… go-” a strand of silver began to creep through Danny’s dark hair.

Oh fuck.

Tucker shook Danny as violently as he subtly could, he needed to wake up. He needed to wake the fuck up right the fuck right NOW. FUCK. It was panic time, shit was getting dangerously identity revealing up in here and Tucker had to do something about it.

More silver was weaving through Danny’s hair, flickers of a dark, skin tight costume appearing for only the briefest of anxiety inducing moments. They were sitting in the back corner of the room, no one had noticed that anything was wrong yet, but someone would. Someone would notice SOON if Tucker couldn’t get Danny to wAKE THE HECKING FUCK HELL UP.

“Danny I swear to god if you don’t wake up I’m going to kill the rest of you. WAKE. UP.” How was Tucker supposed to wake him up without drawing attention to- oh good lordy fucK HIS HAIR.

Tucker pulled Danny’s hood over his head as quickly as he could nearly half a second after a flash of white overtook his entire scalp. Had anyone noticed?? Tucker glanced around the room, nobody was looking, thank christ Wes wasn’t in this class.

Tucker tucked the white strands into the hood as best he could manage before texting Sam as fast as his fingers would allow.

Sam was in the middle of copying some crap about photosynthesis that she already knew when she felt her phone buzz. It was from Tucker, and if his spelling was anything to go by, he was in trouble.

'DIASTRACTION NOWm’

Sam got the gist.

Pretending she was about to vomit everywhere was an easy way out of the classroom, and from there it was just a quick run to the fire alarm. It wasn’t the first time Sam had pulled off a fake emergency, she smashed the glass and hit the button with no hesitation, fuck the consequences. From there she just had to figure out where Danny and Tucker were, they all had copies of each other’s classes in case of just such emergencies.

History, they had history. She knew which room that was.

Sam took off running, boots thundering through the crowds of students filtering out of their classrooms. Sam could barely hear the alarm over the sound of her heart beat thudding in her ears, she didn’t have time to panic and worry, something was wrong and the most important thing right now was finding out what it was and if her friends were okay.

Someone noticed her through the crowd though. As she smashed through a group of kids coming out of a maths class, one guy caught her gaze, one guy decided to follow. Jesus shit she did NOT have the time for this.

Sam detoured down a seperate hallway, the tall redhead on her tail easily keeping pace, why couldn’t he just mind his own god damn business for once and, you know what? Sam thought, FUCK IT.

Another detour into an empty classroom and she had him. Bursting through the door after her, Wes looked around fervently, expecting to find Danny in some kind of juicy compromising situation. What he got was a surprise boot to the gut and he hit the deck like a sack of bricks.

Sam didn’t waste a second before bolting from the room, Wes had already taken up enough of her precious time.

Wes coughed and wheezed and tried to drag a breath into his aching abdomen, she’d clocked him a damn heavy blow and his body was not cooperating until it had a good few moments to recover from Whatever The Fuck Just Happened.

Damn it he was so close!

“Alright everyone, out onto the parking lot, like we do literally every other week.” The history teacher droned, his voice dry. He didn’t even bother making sure everyone left the room before walking out himself, it was probably a ghost attack anyway. These things lost their sense of urgency after the last fifty billion times, the only reason he didn’t make everyone get back into their seats was for legal reasons and honestly, he could really use the smoke break.

Tucker made a show of getting up to leave, but once he and Danny were the only two left he immediately dropped his shit and whammo’d his fists down on Danny’s desk.

“WAKE UP!” He yelled as Sam slid haphazardly into the room, clocking her hip on the teacher’s desk as she failed to reign in her momentum. She struggled with her footing for a moment before catching herself and racing up to the back of the class.

“Is he okay? What’s happening??” she asked, breathlessly.

Tucker lifted the hood from Danny’s bright-ass silvery hair.

“He’s transforming in his sleep and I can’t get him to wake up.” Tucker rushed out in one breath before grabbing Danny by the shoulders. “WAKE. UP. WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!!!!” Tucker screamed while shaking him with about as much tenderness as an irate Skulker on illegal performance enhancing ghost drugs. Finally, it was enough.

Danny jolted roughly, spasmed almost, and opened his fluorescent green eyes. Sam and Tucker took a quick step back in case he lashed out, but he didn’t. Danny’s hands gripped at the table hard enough to leave gouges in the sharpie-graffiti stained surface as his breath came out laboured and rasping. Tears smeared across his cheeks and dripped from his nose and chin.

He blinked, hard, before finally raising his head from the desk, looking remarkably disoriented. He was still flickering in and out of ghost form, disappearing from view entirely a few times as well, but it was slowing down as he took a few deep, shuddering breaths. Soon enough he was calm enough to stick to one form, human fortunately.

Sam breathed out a sigh and sat heavily on the nearest chair. He was okay and god she needed to sit down and catch the breath she’d left behind in science class.

Tucker sat beside Danny - who was now vigorously rubbing at his face - and took back his earphones, Sam could hear something that sounded like a cello playing through the small speakers

Tucker got through maybe the first two syllables of the standard 'are you okay?’ when he was abruptly cut off by a mildly lisping giggle.

Wes stood half through the doorway, phone out and trained on Danny’s previously unstable form. He looked a little pale and seemed to be having trouble breathing but that didn’t stop a wide shit eating grin from stretching across his freckled cheeks.

“Gotcha.” he sneered before turning on his heel and fleeing in unbridled glee.

Sam had recovered quickly from her previous run, she was on him like the Box Ghost on a roll of bubble wrap. Tucker heard the pounding of two sets of feet followed by a loud THUD, a squeal, and then what sounded suspiciously like a phone being heavily stomped on by a very firmly placed boot. The groaning came after that, punctuated with some extremely foul language that may have been spluttered through a bleeding nose and/or lip.

Sam came back into the room with a crushed phone in one hand and bloody knuckles on the other. She wasn’t dicking around, not today.

“You okay Danny?” she asked, getting only a tired glare in response. “Sorry, standard question.”

Sam picked up Danny’s backpack and put her hand out for him to take, he grasped it gratefully and she pulled him up from his chair as Tucker wound an arm around his waist. With the support of the two actual greatest people in the whole damn world, Danny walked out of the school and into the parking lot where an exasperated principal Ishiyama was counting heads and calling names.

“Equal Rites! What were you three still doing inside? Get into your- Mr Fenton are you alright?” Mr Lancer’s angry stride softened into a quick jog, concern weaving it’s way through his face at the sight of Danny’s red eyes and wet cheeks.

“He uh, had a head on collision with Wes on our way out.” said Sam, like a liar. “Took a corner too fast and copped a hit to the nose so his eyes got all teary, but he’s okay.”

“Wes might need a little help though.” Tucker added on. “We offered but he’s pretty much convinced we just rammed him on purpose and he threatened to tell everyone we beat him up sooo we kinda just left him on the floor.”

Lancer rubbed at his brow, exasperated. He did NOT have the time for Wes shenanigans. He took a quick look at Danny’s face, checking for any bleeding, satisfied when he could find none he sent the three on their way to get their names marked off before he headed back to the school building to find Wes.

“Thanks.” Danny squeezed Sam and Tucker tenderly, never wanting to let them go. He was so glad they were here, he was so glad they were alive.

“Sleepover at my place tonight.” Tucker declared. “No exceptions, there’s gonna be cuddle piles and maybe a pillow fort, but definitely lots of these.” he gave Danny a big ol’ smooch on the forehead and pulled him in for a tight hug. “You’re gonna be fine man, you’ll be okay.”

Sam jumped on and threw her arms around both her boys, pressing her lips against Danny’s cheek.

“We’re not going anywhere, okay? We’re gonna sleep right beside you and tell those fucking nightmares to fuck right off, just like last time.” Sam gave him a hearty thump on the back that might have knocked over a regular human, but Danny barely shifted.

What in Ring and Crown’s name did he ever do to deserve these two.

That night after a coma inducing amount of junk food and soft drink Danny passed out smushed between Sam and Tuck in what was pretty much the most affectionate and down right adorable Danny Sandwich either of them had ever made.

He dreamed of the three of them beating the shit out of Dan with Fenton Anti-Creep Sticks. He hadn’t slept so well in years.

Sing to Me

A soulmate one shot I took a long time to write, I’m sorry it took so long, but I hope it was worth it.

You live in the heart of the city of Seoul. Cars fly over the tarmac roads and people talk loudly in the busy streets. They say that cities never sleep, and that is true. They’re loud, and polluted, and lights shine from the moment you wake to the moment you lay your head to rest. But none of that can chase away your thoughts, nothing can drown out the sound of him.

Soulmates live in this world, it’s bizarre, not not even the more intelligent of those around us can understand why such a concept exists. It just does, and everyone’s story is different.

Your Mother used to tell you of the way her eyes would change colour according to the shade of your father’s hair. She never fails to tell you the story of how she woke up in astonishment to an unflattering shade of green.

Your friend told you that she has a clock etched on her skin, it’s unclear what it means, but you both suspect it’s the time zone that her soulmate lives in.

But you? Well, you can hear your soulmate when he sings.

His voice rings in your head louder than any sound can drown out. And at first, you tried everything. You tried blasting music through headphones, sleeping, running in the loud city sounds. But nothing could stop his voice from reaching every corner of your mind.

As a child, you loved to hear him sing, as you grew older, it frustrated you more than anything. Now? Well, you’ve found peace with it. Whenever his gentle, angelic voice starts, you feel yourself relax. He’ll sing a bit of everything, but you like it best when he’s bellowing his vocal chords to romantic ballad songs.

It’s hard to describe his voice to someone, and you’ve tried many times. It changes like the weather, sometimes he’s singing silvery, so soft and light it’s beautiful, other times it’s deep and low, like literal singing sex.

It made you wonder what you were to him. Could he hear you when your strident voice emitted while you showered? Or when you were drunk and messing with your friends loudly in the streets?

You sighed as you pulled your books closer to your chest, walking towards your next class when your head filled with his voice.

For a moment, it was in your head, or so you thought. But then you realised, other people had stopped, and that was when it occurred to you that this time, the voice wasn’t just in your head. Unconsciously, you stepped towards the room where the voice sounded.

You pushed open the door to see the face to the voice you have always heard.

He sat on a desk of an empty maths classroom. He looked so focused, only to be snapped from it no you’d disturbed him. His candy floss pink hair shifted from his brown eyes as he looked at you. He put his sheet of music on the desk and slid so he was simply leaning, shoving his hands in his black jean pockets.

“Can I help you?” He sounded so casual, while you felt like you were about to faint.

“You… I’ve heard… You’re my soulmate right?”

You sounded like an idiot, you felt like a bigger one. You looked at him still, even through the pounding of your heart. He frowned.

“Sing to me, please.” He stated, it was hardly a question.

You frowned, “Me?”

“No, I was talking to the poster behind you- yes, you.”

His sarcasm made you scowl, but you took in a deep breath anyway. There was no way you could match his voice, there was no way you could even compare.

You sang a few lines, you stopped when you saw his eyes turn wide; he looked like a deep in headlights.

“You weren’t shitting me.” He breathed.

“Why would I do something like that?”

“I’m popular, you know, girls have tried this crap on me before.” he stood up and walked over to you, his hands still in his pocket. He stopped stepping when he was stood before you.

“Well, it’s a good thing you’re not stupid enough to believe them.” You responded, feeling a little breathless.

“It is a good thing.” He agreed, placing a hand on your cheek. His thumb brushed against your skin, and his eyes scanned your face. His eyes were lit like fireflies, filled with interest. His lips pouted slightly, as though he was thinking, then he smiled, and the pink in his hair flooded against his cheeks.

“I must say, you’re much more beautiful than your voice.”

“Excuse me?” You responded playfully, it was clear to you that he knew that music really wasn’t your speciality after all this time.

“Let’s just say I don’t think you’ll be winning the x factor any time soon. I’d also like to mention how inconvenient your timing is to start singing. One time, you starting singing overdose while I was in the middle of an exam, that’s if you can even call it singing, you sounded like a cat being run over by a lawn mower.”

You hit his shoulder lightly, pushing him back, laughter filling the room from both of you.

“Alright, there’s no need to be rude. I pride myself very much in my singing ability.” You told him, and he smiled.

“Me too.”

“Your voice is incredible, I mean, really.” You tell him, and his hand that was once on your cheek was now in his hair, rubbing the back of his head as the pink dusted back against his cheeks.

“You think? I mean, I guess so. I wrote you a song actually… Do you maybe want to hear it?”

It was though someone had punched you in the gut, sending your heart to your throat, you nodded, voiceless.

“I want something else before I can do that though.”

“What’s that?” You asked him.

“A date.” He stated.

“Then what are you waiting for.”

He didn’t need telling twice.

It was the middle of the day, the sun shining highly against the city buildings. You had classes to be at, teachers to please, but none of that mattered as he took you by the hand, pulling you to the doors and walking you into a new world, his world.

“She’s too good for you” - Dick Grayson x Reader

Summary : You finally meet your boyfriend’s family.

Just a short little thing I wanted to write about the eldest of the batkids…Hope you’ll like it :s.

You were watching TV, on your own, in your tiny apartment when it all happened.

A knock on your door, and then said door opening. You didn’t worry, you knew who it was.

-(Y/N), how many times will I have to tell you that you need to lock your door ? Gotham is a dangerous city…

You turned around, kneeling up on your couch, to look at him. Richard Grayson was facing you. Your boyfriend. You smiled with defiance.

-You know Richie, if someone really wanted to get in my house, the lock wouldn’t do anything. They can just bust the door open with one kick. It’s a very shitty door, in a very shitty complex apartment. No one will ever even think anything valuable is in there. And they’d be right.

-I beg to disagree, there’s one very valuable thing in this apartment…

You raised your eyebrows. Even your TV was like a hundred years old, and totally worthless. He walked toward you, stopping behind your couch to kiss you. You kissed back eagerly, tangling your hand in his hair, and he pulled back with a low chuckle. Oh you loved his laugh so much. It was damn sexy.

-You. I’m talking about you (Y/N).

On My Own (Harry Hook) Part Four

“You swore you’d never leave me On My Own.”

Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four, Part Five

Harry Hook was lying on his bed, one arm resting under his head as he stared stoically at the ceiling. Sure, the bed in the dorm he shared with Gil was comfortable. But, it was too comfortable. It felt nothing like the one back on the ship, or even the one back at your - now is not the time, Harry.

The pirate shook his head as if to shake away his thoughts. He couldn’t let himself get too caught up in his emotions. He had a job to do and it would complicate things too much.

He stood up, walking over to the window that stared out at the school-grounds. “Everything is so much prettier here than in the Isle,” He mumbled to himself. He scoffed as his eyes fell on the statue of the Beast. “And I thought I was full of meself. ‘Least I never had a magical statue made of meself… actually… That’s not a bad idea. A giant statue, dedicated to Harry Hook. With a magnificent, shining hook.”

His self-glorifying thought were interrupted by a half asleep Gil. “Harry, you’re talking to yourself again,” he muttered, covering his head with his pillows.

Harry rolled his eyes, “Go back to sleep, bampot.”Gil grunted in response.

Harry shook his head, looking up at the stars he had been deprived of seeing his entire life. He smirked to himself.

“Well, it wouldn’t hurt to finally have some fun while I wait.”

The knocking on your door started at seven in the morning that Saturday, lasting until 7:10, when you finally got tired of it waking you up from your sleep. You slid on your bunny slippers and stomped to the door in your (embarrassing) teddy bear pajamas, throwing the door open without a second thought. Carlos stood at your door, concerned look on his face before it melted into one of amusement.

“Nice pajamas. Did you rip them off a five year old?”

“Nice hair, did you rip it off a Q-Tip?” You shot back, crossing your arms.

“Ha, very funny. You might want to come down to the courtyard,” He addressed quickly, anxiously shifting from foot to foot. “Like, now.”

“You can wait for me to get dressed,” You replied, turning to walk back into your room before getting pulled away by Carlos. “There’s no time!” He barked, quickly pulling you down the stairs.

“Carlos I am in my teddy bear pajamas and bunny slippers! I can’t go down there!” you shouted, running to keep up with the boy.

“Call it a fashion statement!”

“Holy fadoodle Cakes,” You whispered, staring up at the statue of the Beast. Well, what was the beast. Now it was covered in pirate getup and dead fish. You were pretty sure you could see an octopus up there too.

You pushed to the front of the group of onlookers and found the pirates standing there proudly. One in particular looked very amused at the awe and horror filled gazes. Then, he met your eyes and his grin grew even more.

“Hello, Lass. Come to marvel at yer dear ol’ Harry’s work? Wait… Are ye wearin’ teddy bear pajamas and bunny slippers?” Harry asked, snickering at your attire.

You gave him an indignant gasp, glaring at the laughing boy. “Lay off my teddy bears and bunny slippers! And fix this statue! Now!” You shouted, keeping your voice relatively quiet as to not to alert any of what was going on.

“Now why would I do that, Princess? I put a lot of time and effort into this… this masterpiece, this show of me talents,” He spoke proudly, before giving you a mocking pout, “Do ya not like it, lass?”

“All it proves is your ability to ruin things,” You gritted out, angry at the image the pirates were giving to the children from the Isle. No doubt this little show would make others reluctant to accept the children of villains.

“Oh but darlin’ I’m from the Isle, ruinin’ things is what we do. Or have ye already forgotten?” Harry remarked, stroking your cheek with the hand that normally held his hook.

You clenched your teeth, anger flowing through you at a rapid pace. “No, Harold, I haven’t forgotten. How can I when a perfect reminder is staring me right in the face?” You growled, shoving his hand away with a harshness you didn’t know you still had. The mocking look melted away into one of shock as you stormed away from the insulting scene.

“Awkward…” Gil mumbled from beside him. In seconds he was pinned to the base the statue, an angry Harry holding a forearm to his neck. “You got somethin’ you wanna say, Gil?” He growled, as if daring the other boy to open his mouth.

Gil gulped, opening his mouth to reply, but was cut off by the shrill voice of Fairy Godmother.

“Harry Hook!”

“I can’t believe that little wench made us join the… what do you call it, Gil?” Harry grumbled, looking around the field.

“Tourney team?” Gil offered, tying his hair back.

“Yes. Tourney team. Pent up rage she says,” The pirate scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Course we have pent up rage. Life’s no fun without it. Know what I mean?”

“Mhm,” Gil hummed in reply, peeling the shell off of another egg.

“Will you stop eating those foul eggs?” Harry grumbled, fanning the air as if trying to rid it of the rotten smell. “ I don’t care what yer dad told ye, they won’t make ye any stronger. Maybe your gag reflex from breathing in those… what did that doaty science teacher call them…ah! Noxious fumes. Apparently those mess with yer head, ya know?” The pirate paused, looking at his friend, recalling the half an hour it took him to realize the push sign on a door meant push forwards, not upwards.

“It all makes since now…”

“Harry, for the last time you can’t hook Jay without your hook!” Uma barked at the angry pirate. “Well, when my dad was teaching me to fight as a kid he called this certain punch a hook,” Gil offered. “There we go! Then I’ll punch’em!” Harry remarked, leaning against the willow tree the group of pirates were resting under.

“Practice wasn’t that bad,” Gil muttered. “All we did was exercise. Well, until Harry tripped that blond boy for making fun of his eyeliner. I think he broke his nose.”

“And he made me do pushups! Pushups! Have you seen my arms, Lad!? Do you think I need to do pushups!?” Harry exclaimed. “If we were on the Isle I would have ripped his guts out through his mouth,” He growled, eyes darkening to a deep blue.

“Yeah well we aren’t on the Isle!” Uma stated, giving her first mate a stern look. “We have to lay low here until we finish the plan. You were supposed to stop going off the handle. It’s going to draw more attention.”

“It’s not my fault! I din’t want to come here in the first place, Cap! Things are a wee bit too bright and happy for me here! “ Harry shot back as Gil’s jaw dropped. He had never seen Harry talk back to their captain before. He must be more upset about coming here than he let off.

Uma scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Oh, please. You and I both know Y/N is why you agreed to come, whether you act like it or not. “

“Oh really? And what might the reasonin’ behind that be, Cap?” Harry growled, face flushing red.

“Because she’s the only person I’ve seen that makes you squirm like a worm on a hook with the mere mention of her name,” She shot back.

Harry froze, stopping his hands from fidgeting and pulling at his sleeves anxiously, “I do not!”

Minutes later and the two were still at it, both turning red in the face.

“G-guys?” A voice called from above them. They shared a concerned look before tilting their gazes upward, eyes landing on Gil, who was hanging desperately from a tree branch. “Help!”

“When did he-”

“How did he-”

“Gil!”

It’s Really You

Request: “HiI have a request in mind, but you do not want to do it, no problem. You can make a shy reader who does not have many friends until you find a Pennywise and they become best friends.”

&

“OK ,how about this … The reader thinks penny is her imaginary friend ,then when people tell her that those don’t exist she tells penny to go away ,and 27 years later after his “sleep” he decides to see how she is doing and she realizes he is real“

Pairing: Pennywise x Reader

Warnings: Henry Bowers (I think that’s pretty self explanatory lol)

A/N: I decided to combine both requests together and instead of Pennywise waking up 27 years later the reader will be 5 years old and when she sees him again 10 years later she will be 15.

It was spring and boy were the springs in Derry pretty amazing. Flowers blossomed, rain poured, birds chirped and the grass grew rapidly. You were currently at the park just down the street from your house. Your mother was at work so it was just you and your father at the park. He was watching you as he read a magazine while he sipped his afternoon coffee.

You noticed a figure behind a tree, you had flowers in your hand that you were planning to give your mother but your curiosity made you drop them. Your little 5 year old legs sped off approaching the tree quickly going behind it to see who the figure was. Your dad assumed that you wanted better flowers so he brushed it off.

There stood someone in a big white fluffy costume with big orange pom poms on them. But you couldn’t see their face they were hiding it behind a pyramid of red balloons. You were extremely curious but you were also debating if you should talk to the stranger. Without thinking you decided to speak up.

“Don’t be afraid show your face.” You said.

“I am not afraid.” The voice said.

He let go of the balloons and that’s when you noticed, he was a clown with white and red face paint on. His fiery orange hair was the feature that stuck out to you the most and the fact that he was really tall.

“Hello Mr. ClownMan!” You said excitedly.

“Hiya darling would you like a balloon?” He asked bending down to your height.

You nodded excitedly as he made a balloon appear from thin air. You giggled happily as you took it.

What the hell was happening to him? Something like this never happened to Pennywise, if you were any other child you would have been dead by now and in his guts. He felt a warm feeling as if he was growing fond of you. But why why was this even happening?

“Thank you umm-” You struggled wondering what his name was.

“I’m Pennywise The Dancing Clown.” The clown introduced himself.

How does your experience of being a medical student compare to practising as a doctor? And do you think having been a medical student and being a doctor has changed you in any way?

That’s a really interesting topic. Sometimes my friends and I reflect on just how much we have all changed.

Med school is intense, but it’s very theoretical. It feels like a superpowered version of school. You still have homework, you have lectures, and you have lots of exams. It’s scary, and you’ll spend the entire 4-6 years constantly worrying you’ll fail your exams or get kicked out. When you’re a clinical med student, you are there in the background. People aren’t always sure where you are meant to be, or what you are meant to be doing, and you have to work to make opportunities happen, or learn as much as you can. You get put on the spot a lot, because people want to make sure you are learning. You might see patients (if your seniors think it is appropriate), but you don’t have any *real* responsibilty. It’s very protected in that way.

And then you graduate, and people ask you to make decisions that actually impact people’s lives; that’s a huge responsibility for any new graduate! It’s scary, and you feel out of your depth, because no matter how much theory you learned in med school, it’s nothing like knowing what to do in practise. Fortunately, you have seniors to supervise you and to ask for help. But the higher up you go, the more you become the senior who others ask for help, whilst still being far from all-knowing, yourself! And medicine is vast, and things are difficult, so you can work for a long time and still have so many things you don’t yet know. The most important thing remains that you should always seek help if you need it.

I still feel like the same science-obsessed arty teenager that I was at school. But I think it’s also changed me a lot, in many ways. University makes you more organised and responsible with your studies; you become used to planning your life, juggling lots of responsibilities, and doing things that have to be done, regardless of whether you like to do them or not. Which, if we are brutally honest, is kind of what adulthood is about. Things that just feel really awkward and unpleasant (like calling up an important senior, who is a stranger, to argue for something I know they will give me a hard time about, but I have to advocate for my patient, so I have to do it) become easier and less scary.

I think the fact that we are exposed to life-and-death situations and people’s personal lives also makes you mature quickly. By being exposed to so much illness, suffering and death, you learn a lot of lessons about life and people.   Where most of your peers might be spending their early 20s getting drunk or out on the pull, you try to balance having a social life with holding the hands of dying pensioners or comforting people whilst they cry about their life. You still get time to ‘be a young person’, but at the same time you have to balance it with trying to shoulder heavy responsibilities.

Even if you’re introverted, you slowly learn to cope with a world that values extroversion. You talk to so many people in your professional life, and though it’s really intimidating when you start, it gets a lot easier with time. You learn to work with a lot of other students, nurses and doctors, until it becomes second nature to walk into a room full of important people and announce ‘Hi, i’m X and I’m the on-call doctor’, and people actually care that you walked in! It’s so strange. Teenaged me would never have had the guts.

You meet a lot of patients, who absolutely need you to present the image of a doctor. You learn to present yourself as a confident and competent clinician, even though inside you’re still a nervous person working out what you are doing. You learn to fight your corner when it comes to requests and referrals, and know when you have to stand your ground. You slowly learn to look and act like a professional adult, developing a manner and body language that both engenders respect, but also puts people at ease. It’s funny to think of it, but none of us were like this back when we were teenagers, and even when you are out of university it doesn’t exactly come naturally to you.

I know a lot more, obviously, and that’s not a knowledge you can switch off; medicine becomes like a sort of lens through which you view life itself. Evaluating evidence, and thinking critically are also things that you don’t just use in your day job, but something that become part of your life. I do think medicine changes your outlook on life, though perhaps each  of us take away slightly different lessons. It might teach you how short life is, and how insignificant most drama is. Perhaps it teaches you that hell is other people, and that we can all help to reduce human suffering. It might teach you to be efficient, hardworking and focused.

Nowadays I’m not fazed by seeing a deceased person, and I can handle really quite scary medical situations without feeling traumatised by it all. I deal with hostility or abuse from the public, and though it’s still draining, it’s less scary than I thought it would be. When you realise most people are really scared and upset and acting out, it makes you see interactions differently.  I’d go as far as to say it makes you see a lot of things differently; it really helped me put a lot of people and things into context. And the more you work with people, the better you become at reading them, and knowing just how to act and what to say to make them feel better. And actually, being introverted and insightful can be great when it comes to observing people and learing to understand them.

People think a good bedside manner is innate, but it’s really not! I was a shy, introverted teenager with a nerdish streak, the kind who might not speak up at all during some lessons because the ‘loud students’ were answering all the questions, only to eventually pipe up with something insightful. My teachers (bless them, where would I be without their patience?) would always give me feedback to speak up more in class. “She has lots to say, if only she would speak up”. Every year, in every school report. So I’m not a natural born leader, nor an extrovert, and yet I love the communication aspect of medicine and have always tended towards specialities where you could make people feel, as well as be, better.

Perhaps it’s hard to truly tell how med school and medicine changed me, or any of us, because we all change with time anyway. It’s not really impossible to truly remain as we are. We experience lots of interesting things that make us grow as people, and we mature as we reflect on the things we’ve learned throughout out lives.

But I’d love to read what other people have to say about this. Medblr, how has med school or being a doc/nurse/etc changed you?

Morning

There’s sweat dripping down his face and neck. He dabs it off with his hand towel and proceeds to dig through the contents of his duffel bag as you watch from around the corner. You know it’s wrong but you can’t stop yourself from staring. He’s one of the most simultaneously loved and hated students at school. Kind and considerate when you’re on his good side, and a complete nightmare when you’re on his bad side. Just last week, he made your friend cry after she accidentally spilled tea on him in the cafeteria. It was a total disaster. You went home furious that night, praying for the chance to get back at him … and now you have it.

For whatever reason, the academically challenged jerk-off is using the girls locker room. All you have to do is scream bloody murder and the school administration will handle the rest. It’s fool proof … but the second you open your mouth, he reaches back and tugs his shirt off. You rapidly lose focus. Whatever you were going to say is shoved all the way down your windpipe, and you watch in quiet disbelief, holding your breath as he undresses in front of your eyes.

The soft th-thump in your chest grows louder and heavier as you pan a look down his body.

It's You (Peter Parker Imagine)

Disclaimer: this is my very first Peter Parker imagine so please be kind 😬

Request: reader is in the decathalons and has a crush on Peter. She doesn’t think he feels the same way so she says yes when someone else asks her to Homecoming. But little does she know, he actually does like her. (Includes jealous Peter!)

I look up at the clock and sigh as the minute hand reads 15 minutes. This is the fourth time that Peter has been late to our decathalons meeting. Nationals are just around the corner and he keeps doing this. My hope of him asking me to Homecoming fades away each time he pulls the same stunt.

A repetitive tapping of a pen brings me back. It stops. “Okay, we’re going to start this meeting without Peter”, Liz says, annoyed. We go over a few things to further prep us then we begin practicing.

As our responses quicken, the remaining member of our team finally shows up. “I’m so sorry I’m late”, he says out of breath.

“Peter”, our teacher calls. He pulls him over to the side, most likely to lecture him. My attention shifts from Liz to Peter. I watch his face instantly fill with guilt.

“If he did want to be a part of this team, he’d show up on time”, Flash mutters. I look away from Peter. “Guys like that will keep on disappointing.”

I try to keep myself from getting worked up by Flash’s words. I would defend Peter but Flash has a point. I let out a sigh. Homecoming with him is most likely out of the question. Heck, it isn’t even a possibility.

“It’s just the Stark internship it’s-”

“Honestly Parker, who are you kidding? Cut the lies”, Flash says angrily.

My eyes go back to Peter and his lips just shut. No words. I wish he could come up with a better excuse, or to be honest about where he is. I look down.

“Hey, Y/N. Homecoming is coming up after nationals and I’ve been thinking..would you like to go with me?” Flash asks. His tone soft now.

It’s not like Peter has a crush on me anyway. I look up and smile. “Yeah, sure.”

“Guys, we have to focus, okay?” Liz reminds me and Flash.

“Yes Liz. I apologize, I’m just really excited about Homecoming!” Flash beams.

“Alright Flash.” Liz shakes her head and continues on with the questions.

We finish and our teacher lets us know that Peter is out. He really does keep on disappointing.

“He already quit band and-” Michelle gets cut off by Peter’s death stare.

The other members make their way out. Flash comes up to me with a huge smile on his face. “Today is the best day of my life! I’m going to Homecoming with you and now I’m taking Peter’s place! Can life get any better than this?” He hugs me and I catch Peter’s expression in this very moment.

He looks heartbroken. Flash makes his way out and Peter’s eyes follow him. His brows furrowed.

“Sorry to hear that you won’t be a part of the decathalons anymore”, I say. His head snaps in my direction, anger no longer present. “It’s a shame, I liked having you on the team.”

He gives me a small smile. “Nice to know at least one person enjoyed having me around. Seems like everyone else hates my guts.” His head hangs low.

“Even Ned?”

He sighs. “Even Ned.”

“I mean, you were given a huge opportunity so it doesn’t hurt to take it on. I get it. You got to do you. I wish you all the best with it.” I grab my bag and head out.

“Y/N, wait!”

“Yeah?”

He takes a few seconds to continue. “Are you actually going to Homecoming with..Flash?” I question the expression he makes as he says Flash’s name.

“I never thought I would, but yeah.”

“Are you sure? I mean, it’s Flash we’re talking about.”

“I’m sure, it’s not like anyone else was going to ask me so…” I instantly regret letting that slip.

Silence comes forth. I look at him and it seems as though he’s choked up.

“Are you okay Peter?”

“Yeah. I just-I got to go”, he says and books it. And just like that, he’s gone.

I try to get Peter off my mind but I’m reminded just before lunch. As I make my way to my locker I see him, still with that expression he had earlier. I unlock my locker to put my books away and grab my lunch but something stops me in my tracks.

I overhear Peter talk – well more like rant to Ned. “I can’t believe Y/N is going to Homecoming with Flash! Of all people! Does he even like her? Ugh, I swear if he hurts her or treats her wrong I will-” I turn my head slightly in their direction and freeze as I see that water has now formed in Peter’s eyes.

“Just take a deep breath. Maybe she’ll change her mind. Or maybe you should’ve asked her when you had the chance, I don’t know.” Ned shrugs.

Peter lets out a long sigh. The tears still on the rims of his sad puppy eyes.

“Look, I know it sucks but just remember I’m here for you”, Ned says as he places a hand on Peter’s shoulder.

Peter closes his eyes, takes a deep breath in then releases it. “Thanks Ned. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

I turn my head back and stand at my locker in shock. Eyes wide, jaw dropped. Good thing no one can see my face right now. I take a few seconds to grasp whether or not that actually happened. Peter likes me. Peter. Likes. Me.

Are You Mine?

A birthday gift for @hily-shot, who put the idea of a secret admirer fic in my head forever ago, even if she probably doesn’t remember it now. Happy birthday, my smol friend. <3

(destiel, punk!Cas and jock!Dean, hs!au, 3k)

AO3

For the third day in a row, there’s a sticky note on Castiel’s locker. It’s innocuous in and of itself, but also bright pink and impossible to miss what with the way the color contrasts with the dull, grey lockers. Castiel sees it long before he reaches it, the sight both making his blood boil and sending butterflies bursting through his stomach.

He hates it.

He snatches the note off of the locker’s metal surface as quickly as he can, knowing Meg isn’t far behind him and not wanting her to see. He shields the small paper with his palms while he reads it.

Cas—

Your hair looks good today. It looks soft. I want to run my fingers through it.

Castiel rolls his eyes, even as his cheeks burn with a blush. He can’t decide if this one is better or worse than the last; it certainly isn’t as embarrassing as the first had been. But that doesn’t mean he wants anyone to know about them—he opens his locker and shoves the note into the back, stashing it behind a never-used chemistry textbook with the previous notes. He doesn’t want to see them, doesn’t want to acknowledge their existence.

He’s not sure which of his ‘friends’ is behind the stupid prank, but he’s taken a ‘guilty until proven innocent’ stance for the time being, and hates them all for it equally. He knows it’s not Meg—she’s sweet on him, she wouldn’t mess with him in this way—but it could very well be Balthazar, or Raphael, or Bart, or Uriel, or even some combination of those dicks working together. He wouldn’t be surprised.

After all, it’s not like anyone would seriously leave these kinds of messages for him (no matter how endearing the sentiment might be, or how his stomach still twists like it is real, despite his belief of the opposite). Castiel isn’t the only ‘punk’ in the school, the only one with tattoos and piercings and a unique ability to make teachers hate him—his ‘friends’ also tend to fall in that category, to various degrees, which is the only reason Castiel aligns himself with them in the first place. He is, however, the only one who’s gay. He’s not the token in the school, but he’s the token in his own clique, and that’s what brings the hellfire down on him. His friends aren’t homophobic, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to harass him.

But no one on the outside of their group would ever take an interest in him, and certainly no one would have such nice things to say about him.

peter remembers the first time he saw y/n. it was the second day of 3rd grade, and flash had been harassing peter over his lunchbox. he said it was lame while flaunting his captain America backpack, looking down peter in disgust when suddenly it had been torn out of his hands and thrown into the gutter.

flash had immediately started crying while y/n grabbed peters hand and pulled him along to get out of sight. she had smiled at him, still holding his hand as she gave him his lunchbox she must’ve taken when flash was distracted.

“here. I think it’s cool,” she said. peter remembers the way his heart had raced so incredibly fast he was afraid it’d give out. “flash is stupid. want to be friends?”

fast forward to years later, peter has been harboring a crush on y/n for almost a decade. ned knows of course after finding out one night when peter had spilled his guts to him over a star wars movie, nearly crying when ned had laughed.

now, they’re a lot older. teenagers. they’re in high school, learning how to drive, slaving over homework and tests.

speaking of tests, ned, peter and y/n are in the library studying for an upcoming Chemistry quiz when y/n pushes her books away with a loud groan.

peter shakes his head in amusement, doing the same only quieter. “break time?”

“yes, god.” y/n rubs her eyes, looking momentarily dazed when she turns to peter and he bites his to lip stop himself from blushing if he isn’t already.

“I hate my life,” ned cries, breaking their eye contact to turn and pity him. “I would rather eat a can of worms than take this test.”

“I’d eat two.”

“yeah, well, I’d run naked through the halls if that would earn me an A, because there is no way I’m passing this.”

“dude, no!” peter has to cover his mouth from bursting out laughing, y/n doing the same thing as she ducks her head, her shoulders shaking. now he’ll never get the image out of his head.

“what? I suck at Chemistry, peter. desperate times calls for desperate measures. don’t tell me you wouldn’t do it too if it’d earn you an A.”

peter rolls his eyes. “of course I wouldn’t.”

“liar!” ned punches peters arm and he lets out a whine, which is followed by a wave of shushes all around the room.

“quiet guys, or you’ll get us kicked out.”

peter goes back to his notes, but he can’t help but sneak a glance at y/n. she does too at the same time, giving him a small wave. he grins, pulling out a piece of scratch paper and writes at the top would you really eat two cans of worms to get an A on the test?

he passes the paper towards her and she looks at him with raised eyebrows. she writes back only if you’d do it too.

peter returns the look she had given him. you’d have to give me something first.

what, a kiss?

a laugh escapes from y/n’s lips as she sees how peter reacts to what she had written. he’s sure he’s having a minor stroke because he can’t seem to do anything but stare at the paper in shock. he’s so sure y/n is joking, but he rereads her words over and over until she leans closer.

“you okay there, pete?” she sounds so smug as she speaks, one end of her lips pulling upward in a smirk. peter regrets facing her because now he can’t stop staring at her lips, which is exactly what y/n had wanted, he realizes. “see something you like, huh?”

peter snaps out of it, startling ned when he sits up too fast and shakes the table.

“I am trying to study-” ned cuts himself off, eyeing both of them suspiciously. “what just happened?”

“what? nothing happened. everything’s normal,” peter answers too quickly and ned points at him.

“you’re redder than elmo, peter. and y/n, you’ve scooted your chair closer to him. something definitely happened.”

“okay there, nancy drew.” y/n flicks a wad of paper at ned, who smacks it away and hits peter instead. “oops.”

“yeah, oops.” peter takes the ball, scanning the room until he finds a suitable target. flash. one of the only times they have ever seen him in the library, and peter isn’t about to pass up this opportunity. “the second I throw this paper, pretend like nothing happened, okay?”

ned and y/n nod, both giggling quietly as peter takes aim. he sucks in a breath and throws it, immediately leaning his chin onto his palm and tries to appear like he’s emerged in his book.

flash shrieks and they all nearly lose it.

“who threw this!” flash shouts, picking up the paper angrily. peter doesn’t move, but flash spots him and points to him. “penis parker! I know it was you!”

“maybe it was Spider-Man.” y/n shouts back, which is enough to make the others in the library laugh. flash opens his mouth to reply, but the librarian grabs him by the arm and drags him out.

“that was the best thing in my entire life.” ned wheezes out while he wipes his cheeks.

the bell rings, signaling that lunch is over. they all pack up their things and peter quickly slips the piece of paper he and y/n had been writing on into his binder when she wasn’t looking. he’d make sure to frame this when he gets home, which is totally not weird. at all.

“so I’ll see you guys at peters later?” y/n asks as she throws her backpack over her shoulder.

peter freezes while picking up his notebook. oh, right. they were going to meet up at his place later to continue studying. he had completely forgotten. he was planning on staying out later than usual today on patrol, which would be way more fun than sitting around crying over Chem.

“actually, I’m kind of busy..” peter trails off. he feels guilty when ned throws his hand into the air, but feels even worse when y/n’s smile falters. “I’m sorry, really. it’s just I already said I’d stay late at Stark internship and-”

“don’t worry about it, peter,” y/n says. she hides her disappointment by adjusting her backpack straps and peters stomach squeezes.

he can always stay out later tomorrow, he thinks. “how about I call in sick? then we can study until dawn.”

“no, it’s okay. I know how much the internship means to you.”

peter almost says that she means more to him than any internship, but ned clears his throat awkwardly.

“we’d better get to class, guys. peters already on thin ice with the teacher and we don’t want him stuck in detention for another month.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” y/n smiles at peter and he almost doesn’t reply until ned nudges him in the ribs.

“yeah! yeah. see you tomorrow, y/n.” peter watches her until she’s gone, which earns another blow to the ribs from ned. “dude, stop. what are you doing?”

“what are you doing? why’d you blow her- us, off? I really do need to keep studying for this test.”

peter pushes ned slightly as the walk to their class. they only have classes with y/n before lunch, none after, which means they don’t see her until till school ends in almost 3 hours from now. except, they’re not going to hang out today and peter will more than likely be gone by the time y/n exits the building, so chances are that he won’t see her till tomorrow.

his last periods drag on so slowly, but when the bell rings, peters already out of his seat and flying through the halls.

he changes in the same alley, pulling on his suit in a record time and is soaring through the air within the minuet. he stops another bike thief not even an hour into his patrol, leaving a sign on it like all the others. he’s got to start carrying around a marker and paper or something, because it’s starting to get annoying asking around.

it’s about 9pm when peter feels his phone buzz in his suit. he lands on his building to pull it out, the screen showing that y/n is calling. he hesitantly declines, still feeling slightly guilty for earlier. he knows that he shouldn’t of blown her off like ned said, but he what he’s doing is important. he’s saving innocent lives.. and stopping people from stealing bikes.

peter almost tucks his phone away when y/n’s name pops up again. he frowns, but hits decline again and switches it off. even if he answered y/n’s phone call now, it’d be too late for them to study together. may she just wanted to call to see how he’s doing?

he shakes his head as he climbs up his apartment. no, he’ll see her tomorrow. he should just stop worry about it.

peter wakes up late. he had forgotten to turn his phone back on when he had gotten home, which didn’t set off his alarm, so he’s forced to go as Spider-Man to school until he’s a few blocks away. he changes into his regular clothes, nearly losing a shoe to a huge rat that had appeared out of a trash can.

he runs the rest of the way, not stopping once and makes it just as the bell rings. he climbs up the steps when he notices that people are staring at him weird. he runs a hand through his hair, smoothing it out with confusion. there’s nothing wrong with him, unless flash had started some obscene rumor because of what he had done in the library.

still, he can’t shake the feeling that something terrible is about to happen as he breezes into first period. it’s oddly silent, and peter finds that y/n’s seat is empty. he sets his bag down on the floor and jumps when ned plops down next to him.

“you okay, dude?”

“yeah, yeah. I guess I’m a bit anxious.” peter takes out his notebook, unable to tear his eyes away from y/n’s chair. something isn’t right. “hey, have you heard from y/n today? she’s not here.”

ned shrugs. “nope. why, are your spidey senses tingling?”

peter pulls out his phone and presses the power button. it takes a minuet for it to start up, but when it does, his stomach drops as he finds that y/n had called him 10 times and left him a few voicemails.

his throat tightens as he presses the first voicemail and holds his phone up to his ear.

“peter?” y/n’s voice is shaking. peter feels like he’s about to throw up. “I-I, um. just wanted to call you because.. I don’t know. maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I feel like I’m being followed? please call me back.”

“peter?”

he doesn’t even realizes he’s standing until ned tugs on his sleeve. the voicemail ends and peter hurries to click on the next one, ignoring ned as he pulls him down.

“I know you’re busy with the stark internship, but..” y/n sniffles. peter doesn’t hear anything but her voice. “I just wanted to get some chips from that 7-11 a couple blocks away. you know the one we go to all the time? it’s really dark and I can hear their footsteps behind me, peter. maybe it’s just a coincidence though? call me.”

“they’re walking faster now,” the next voicemail plays even though peter hasn’t moved. “I-I’m really scared, peter. I’m going to call the police after this. I’m sorry for bothering you, but I’d really wish you’d call me back.”

the next voicemail starts off with heavy breathing. like she’s running. “I called the police but-I.. I don’t think they’re going to get to me in time, peter. I don’t know what to do except run, and-and now they’re running too.”

“mr. parker!”

peter pulls the phone away from his face slowly. he feels like his lungs are collapsing. his head is pounding as he gets to his feet, facing his teacher and the students staring back at him.

he doesn’t even say anything as he sprints out of the room, barely being able to hear the teacher telling him to stop. he has to get to y/n’s house. he has to get there as fast as he can, because she has to be okay. the police must’ve gotten there just in time. her phone was probably just lost, that’s all.

peter doesn’t even bother to change out of his clothes. he just slips on the mask and web shooters before taking off to y/n’s apartment. the whole time, he feels like he can’t breath. the mask is too tight and it’s suffocating him.

what takes a 20 minuet train ride takes peter 5 minuets to get there. he lands in the alley without grace, tumbling and scraping up his elbows and ripping his jeans. he doesn’t care as he stumbles to his feet, scrambling up the stairs and knocks on y/n’s door.

it opened slowly by y/n’s mother, who looks like she’s been crying all night. peter breaks at the sight of her.

he remembers the last time he saw y/n. it wasn’t even 24 hours ago. she was smiling and laughing in the library because peter had thrown a paper ball at flashes head.

he doesn’t feel the arms wrapping around his shoulders as he lowers himself to the floor, or the hands on his cheeks.

he had let y/n down. it was all his fault. if only he would’ve said yes to studying, then he could’ve walked y/n home and she wouldn’t of been followed. he could’ve prevented this is he wouldn’t of put Spider-Man first. and now he’d never forgive himself.
