would be good as an old school animes

vimeo

“In a planet far far away, some random animation students decided to make a nonsensical fake teaser in order to fight the boredom of their school life.”

Yeah, it would be a pretty good pitch for dat.

believe me, subtitles are useless, there is nothing to understand, have a pure  minute and half of animation students just having fun.

Well, still, the animations were done during summer so it’s starting to get a little old sometimes but meh :V

WELL HEY THERE FRIEND!
My name is Ren, I’m an 18 year old character artist currently in Nebraska.
I graduated high school this year and for most of the year had planned on going to art school in Tucson, Arizona in the coming Fall.
Unfortunately, there’s no way I can afford it right now, which means I have to take a gap year and save up money to try again in 2018.
I’m planning on working as much as I can this year, but I literally work at McDonald’s. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just..not the most income, yknow?
It is my goal to go to school at the Southwest University for Visual Art, majoring in animation, hopefully by the Fall semester 2018.
I would really appreciate your support in making that happen.
If you can’t commission, please share to help get the word out? ♥ Thank you

if oswald cobblepot was a dog, what breed would he be? what breed would ed be? marty mcfly? emmett brown? adam young, crowley, aziraphale? you?

Of all the questions I could get as a non-dog-person!  I’m extremely amused.

Oswald reminds me of this energetic, vain, sweet, clever, oddly-empathetic-when-she-wanted-to-be Border Collie that my family had when I was in grade-school. I got to name her: Rigel, after the blue star in Orion (look, my 7-year-old self was an astronomy nerd thanks to Girl Scouts). She was the only dog I ever really bonded with. She was black and white, and she had one pale blue eye and one pale green eye. Therefore, I’m going to say Oswald is a Border Collie.  I miss that dog so much.

Ed’s somewhat harder for me to pinpoint, although if I think about one of the only other dogs I ever got friendly with, let me tell you about Lobo. Lobo was a big, sweet scaredy-cat of a Rottweiler that I babysat after school several days a week when I was in junior high. Lobo was svelte and black and was taller than I was when she put her paws on my shoulders (I was 5'3" by the age of 13, and I’m still that height now). She required a babysitter because her owners worked late on those days, and she wouldn’t eat out of sheer anxiety if someone wasn’t around. So I’d spend time making sure she ate and engaging her with the baffling array of complicated toys she had to her name. Rottweiler works, maybe: adorkable, misunderstood, etc.  Something very slim and long.

Marty’s a lovable beagle if I ever saw one; Emmett strikes me as whatever kind of dog he presently has for a companion. I think Einstein is a Polish Lowland Sheepdog.

Adam and Dog are so inseparable that, well. Hellhound masquerading as a mutt.

I regret to inform you that I think Aziraphale and Crowley would both be cats.

As for myself, I don’t know that I’d be a mammal. Friends call me bird-like in some of my mannerisms, but I have teeth and claws and copper hair and cold, wide blue eyes. If I had to pass for a mammal, red fox might be the only fit.

The Registry (Part 1)

Rating: T

Prompt: An Unexpected Letter (Prompt 1)

Summary: Her hands shake and her mouth falls slack as she fumbles to review the envelope once again. There it is, in beautiful cursive handwriting: Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen. Upon further inspection, it’s addressed to his apartment— another mess-up by the mailman.

His address. And her name. Next to his name. Their names together?

A myriad of thoughts fly through her mind. It could be a practical joke, a mistake, but why?

What if…

Author’s Note: Huge thanks to @papofglencoe who not only edited, but was such a great motivator for me! Her comments throughout the draft gave me life and lots of laughs!!

“Go on home, Katniss. There’ll be more waitin’ for you tomorrow.” Sae chuckles through her raspy words. Years of smoking are evident in the old woman’s voice, but she’s a hardy soul in spite of it. “C’mon now. Get!” she cough-laughs as her dish towel whips Katniss in the rear.

As much as Katniss would like to give Sae her hard scowl, she knows it’s all in fun, and she whips her right back. “Be careful, woman. You taught me all of your tricks.”

With a hard pat on Katniss’ shoulder, Sae relents. “That I did. That I did. See you tomorrow, young thing.”

Once Katniss removes her soiled apron and washes her hands, she grabs her satchel from the back office and exits the door to begin her walk home. Although her apartment building is only four blocks east and three blocks north of Greasy Sae’s Deli, Katniss prefers to take a longer route home when she’s lucky enough to have some daylight left after work.

how did you animate your last post? after effects? illustrator? photoshop, was it frame by frame? Im an illustration student and im looking into animating a bit as well, any help would be appreciated

It was in Photoshop, and I did it frame by frame. I kicked it old school and spent some time learning about traditional animation. Disney’s Nine Old Men created the 12 principles of animation and they are basically the foundation of all good animation. I think it’s more important than any program or technique. Hope that helps!

Summary: Blaine goes to therapy.  And he has a lot of feelings.  But there’s space for them, there.  (Includes some neutral-to-positive discussion of Blainofsky.)  PG, ~2k, also here on AO3.

Excerpts from the practice of Preeti Sidana, MD.  From the treatment of Blaine Devon Anderson, 19 years old.  Intake date: 7/14/2014.  Diagnosis: Bipolar II Disorder.

“Do you have any family history of mental illness?”

Blaine laughs, though not with much humor - she guesses he’ll be doing a lot of that.  “Not that I knew of, until just now.  But apparently my mother’s been coming here since I was eight.  So why don’t you tell me.”

Hi! I'm gonna start to learn some animation soon. do you have any advice? Is it better to animate on paper or digitally?

Good question!

I’d say, it depends. If you’re learning in a school and you have the proper equipment (animation table with a peg bar, the paper, a good camera for the line test, etc), perhaps it’s better to start on paper because there’s a very unique feeling when you draw and animate on paper and mostly when you are flipping your drawing when you animate. Digitally it’s a thing you can’t do, you can see the drawings before and after, but you can’t control it as weel as on paper. More over on paper you can’t press play and see instantly what your animation looks like, which means you have to think of what you’re doing, prepare, anticipate, which is very good too. Think of the nine old men back in the times at Disney, there pencil tests were on film so they had to wait 2 or 3 days before watching it !
And if you’re learning on your own or you don’t have the equipment in your school, just go digitally. The feeling is different from paper but it’s waaaaaay more convenient. Some says it’s the lasy way but I know it would be hard for me to come back to paper now (even if I’ve been animating a lot on paper).

And if you can do both, it’s the best !
