Daniel Radcliffe is heading to television to star as an angel

Daniel Radcliffe is headed to American television.

The former Harry Potter actor will star as an angel in the TBS comedy Miracle Workers, the network announced Wednesday. Radcliffe, who previously appeared on British television with A Young Doctor’s Notebook and guest-starred on Ricky Gervais’ Extras, will star as Craig on the show, “a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers.” Craig’s boss, God, will be played by Owen Wilson.

“Having Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson join the TBS family is proof of the continued evolution of this comedy brand as the home of the most creative minds in the business,” said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS, in a press release. “Owen Wilson has long been a comic genius, and Daniel’s performance in last year’s Swiss Army Man really proved that there’s a sophisticated comedian under the surface of those brilliant dramatic chops.”

Miracle Workers is based on Simon Rich’s book What in God’s Name and Rich created the show and will work as showrunner. Lorne Michaels is executive producer.

“Simon and Lorne are total pros in walking the tightrope between reality and ridiculousness, and they do it with a lot of heart and wit,” Weitz said.

In addition to Miracle Workers, which will air in 2018, TBS also announced three other new series: Close Enough, animated series from Regular Show creator J.G. Quintel, The Joker’s Wild reboot hosted by Snoop Dogg, and a new untitled series from the comedy trio The Dress Up Gang.

TBS also signed a four-year deal with Conan O’Brien that will keep Conan on TBS through 2022 and “will extend the brand into digital content, podcasting, gaming, pay TV and live events.”

St. Joseph has two feast days on the liturgical calendar.    The first is March 19—Joseph, the Husband of Mary. The second is May 1—Joseph, the Worker.

“Saint Joseph is a man of great spirit. He is great in faith, not because he speaks his own words but above all because he listens to the words of the Living God.   He listens in silence.  And his heart ceaselessly perseveres in the readiness to accept the Truth contained in the word of the Living God,”   Pope John Paul II had once said.

There is very little about the life of Joseph in Scripture but still, we know that he was the chaste husband of Mary, the foster father of Jesus, a carpenter and  a man who was not wealthy.    We also know that he came from the royal lineage of King David.

We can see from his actions in scripture that Joseph was a compassionate man and obedient to the will of God.    He also loved Mary and Jesus and wanted to protect and provide for them.

Since Joseph does not appear in Jesus’ public life, at his death, or resurrection, many historians believe Joseph had probably died before Jesus entered public ministry.

Joseph is the patron of many things, including the universal Church, fathers, the dying and social justice

Brazil airport workers declare partial strike for first day of World Cup

AFP: Ground staff at three major airports in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will stage a 24-hour partial protest on the opening day of World Cup, their union said on Wednesday.

The workers promised to maintain 80 percent of service on Thursday, but the partial work stoppage raises fears of delays as fans flood the city for the tournament’s opening matches.

The workers have been seeking raises and special bonuses tied to the World Cup for months.

Inside America's secretive biolabs: Investigation Reveals Hundreds of Accidents, Safety Violations and Near Misses
A USA TODAY Network investigation reveals that hundreds of lab mistakes, safety violations and near-miss incidents have occurred in biological laboratories coast to coast in recent years, putting scientists, their colleagues and sometimes even the public at risk.

Vials of bioterror bacteria have gone missing. Lab mice infected with deadly viruses have escaped, and wild rodents have been found making nests with research waste. Cattle infected in a university’s vaccine experiments were repeatedly sent to slaughter and their meat sold for human consumption. Gear meant to protect lab workers from lethal viruses such as Ebola and bird flu has failed, repeatedly.

A USA TODAY Network investigation reveals that hundreds of lab mistakes, safety violations and near-miss incidents have occurred in biological laboratories coast to coast in recent years, putting scientists, their colleagues and sometimes even the public at risk.

Oversight of biological research labs is fragmented, often secretive and largely self-policing, the investigation found. And even when research facilities commit the most egregious safety or security breaches — as more than 100 labs have — federal regulators keep their names secret.

Of particular concern are mishaps occurring at institutions working with the world’s most dangerous pathogens in biosafety level 3 and 4 labs — the two highest levels of containment that have proliferated since the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001. Yet there is no publicly available list of these labs, and the scope of their research and safety records are largely unknown to most state health departments charged with responding to disease outbreaks. Even the federal government doesn’t know where they all are, the Government Accountability Office has warned for years.

A team of reporters who work for the USA TODAY Network of Gannett newspapers and TV stations identified more than 200 of these high-containment lab facilities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia operated by government agencies, universities and private companies. They’re scattered across the country from the heart of New York City to a valley in Montana; from an area near Seattle’s Space Needle to just a few blocks from Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza restaurant and shopping district.

High-profile lab accidents last year with anthrax, Ebola and bird flu at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the discovery of forgotten vials of deadly smallpox virus at the National Institutes of Health raised widespread concerns about lab safety and security nationwide and whether current oversight is adequate to protect workers and the public. Wednesday the Department of Defense disclosed one of its labs in Utah mistakenly sent samples of live anthrax – instead of killed specimens – to labs across the USA plus a military base in South Korea where 22 people are now being treated with antibiotics because of their potential exposure to the bioterror pathogen. As many as 18 labs in nine states received the samples, the CDC said Thursday. […]

At the high-containment labs identified by USA TODAY, experiments are underway involving drug-resistant tuberculosis, exotic strains of flu, the SARS and MERS viruses, plague, anthrax, botulism, ricin and the Ebola and Marburg hemorrhagic fever viruses, according to interviews and more than 20,000 pages of internal lab safety records and incident reports obtained from labs across the country. Kirin is not coping well with fatherhood and feels jealous of Adam’s bond with Johnny. How will Adam feel when Kirin demands he stay away from his son?

Tuesday 19th January (hour long as there is no wednesday episode):

Aaron confronts Chas over Gordon and demands she leaves him. Chas thinks she’s talked him round but Aaron secretly attempts to leave the village. However, he is stopped by Robert and soon collapses from sepsis. Robert realises he’s been self-harming and has a bad infection.

Robert asks Aaron why he’s running away and he notices the blood soaking through his sleeve before Aaron collapses

As Chas and Gordon make their relationship known around the village, Aaron and Robert are at the hospital and Aaron whispers something in Robert’s ear, leaving him shocked and concerned. What is Aaron hiding?

Aaron collapses from sepsis which has infected some of his self-harm wounds and when Robert keeps a vigil at his hospital bedside, Aaron makes a devastating admission from his childhood that leaves Robert reeling.

At the same time, Robert feels out of his depth as Aaron continues to confide in him. Robert urges Aaron to open up to his mum, but he refuses. Aaron is relieved when Robert agrees not to tell anyone, promising him that he’s not alone.

Soon afterwards, Vanessa encourages Rhona to go and surprise Paddy at the conference. When Rhona arrives at reception, she begins to head up to his room…
