work-for-your-dreams

Hope You Had Known

Hey, you there!
Yup, you are the one
Oh, you busy having fun
Living life to the fullest
Living life like a festival
Living life with innocence
Living life with excitement
Living life with immaturity
Living life like a wanderer
Living life like a traveler
Living life without responsibilities
Living life without abnormalities
Living life without dependencies

I got to tell you something
It’s just what you should’ve known
Just so that you could’ve been on your own
Life’s gonna run bulldozers over you
And a lot of times not just a very few
Life’s gonna smack at your weaknesses
And you will still have to make progress
Life’s gonna keep you awake at night
And you will have your tiredness to fight
Life’s gonna render you broken and helpless
And you will have to handle that heavy stress
Life’s gonna take people and things away from you
And you will have to live with a will-power brand new
Life’s gonna do all of these distressful things to fix you
And you will have to work for your dreams to come true

Maybe you are scared at his point
And I bet you should be
For these things, I have lived through
And I know it could be difficult for you
Hope that you had known this
Life could’ve then been a bliss

However, I am still on my way
While you can still afford to play.

Gosh I KNOW I shouldn't say this but you are my dream agent and I am TERRIFIED and SO ANXIOUS to query you. Help!

Okay so I’ve already told you that you shouldn’t buy into the whole “dream agent” thing (even if it’s me). Of course I’m awesome, but there are a lot other of really great agents out there too. I mean, don’t get me wrong, if I read your book and love it, I will totally tell you all the reasons I think I’m the best person to represent your work.

But the truth is, your dream agent should be the agent who loves your work. The best agent for you will be someone who’s passionate about your story, who has a vision to make it its best self and knows how to help you get it there, who’s going to go sell the crap out of it to editors and then fight for you and the manuscript every step of the way during the publishing process.

So don’t be nervous. Work on your query, perfect it, then send it out.

Also if you’re like me and logic is your thing (I’m an INTJ, aka the super villain of every story):

If I read your query and don’t request it or if I do but then after reading the manuscript I pass, it’s okay. You will literally be in the same place that you’re in right now. That means things cannot actually get worse.

No, I’m serious. It really would be fine. If you send me a query, here’s what might happen:

I might love it.

If I don’t, someone else might. And you might change your mind and realize they’re your dream agent.

Or if I don’t, you can still revise and try me again. Or you can write something else and try me again (I represent a few authors who sent me queries for projects before I realized I needed to work with them).

Don’t forget, publishing is a long game. Nothing happens overnight here. Trust me, even those “overnight success stories” have a lot of lead up that we don’t hear about.

Never blame your fans

I know many of you artists - whether you draw, write, or compose - are frustrated that your original work, especially your dream projects, aren’t getting the responses you were hoping for.

I feel the same way.

But some of you express your frustrations completely destructively and blame the world for not giving you the spotlight.

When you do that, you’re blaming your problems for existing rather than adjusting and compromising to solve them. You’re making excuses for your mistakes. You’re demanding the world to change but you are not willing to change with it.

This is the perfect mindset to NEVER succeed in anything, ever.

You need to accept some basic truths of art before you can go any further:

  • Your art should teach you as much as or more than it teaches others: If you claim your art opens horizons and widens minds, yours should be the first priority. You cannot speak without listening. You are not a righteous prophet enlightening the heathens with the true word. You are one humble person and your art is one humble person’s story.
  • There are no new stories, but there are always new storytellers. That amazing idea you have that nobody’s ever thought of before? Someone has. But nobody has told the story your way, or drawn the character your way, or sung the song your way. Art is not about being new. It is about being you.
  • Popular art is all about the beholder. All these shows and games with so much fan art? They got to that level because they command a personal investment from and serve the viewer - they have worlds their fans want to be part of, and your canon will be swept aside along the way. You the artist are not a god or a wise sage. You are a guide and a footman. To be an artist is to be humanity’s servant, not its lord - and there’s no shame in that.
  • Most of your fans are not artists or art critics. While there will be a good number of them in your fanbase, the vast majority are not going to be super-open-minded creative thinkers who value every single opinion, outlook, and story just because it’s done technically well. They will be ordinary people with ordinary, selfish interests, and they will care about your content more than your talent. You have to balance what you want to draw with what everyone wants to see.

But the most important part of being an artist or really a person at all is to understand this:

Nobody owes you success.

Nobody is under any obligation to pay anything you produce a second glance or support or promote it in any way.

Nobody is spiting or robbing you by not giving you a like or a reblog or a follow.

Every single gesture of appreciation you receive from someone is a courtesy - a gift that you earn, not a right you’re entitled to.

It is not the job of your audience to love your work. It is your job to make it lovable. And just because you are working really hard does not mean you are working in the right direction.

I know that thousands upon thousands of artists put hours or months or years into a project and feel like they get nothing in return. Sometimes it is not how hard you’re working but what you’re working for that is the problem.

Sometimes you need to slow down and think, “Do I have to have this just so? What would the kind of person interested in my work be looking for, and where can I address it? Am I maybe taking myself and my work a little too seriously?”

And a lot of artists don’t realize that as an amateur, you are the sole proprietor - you are your art. Whether people like you determines whether they like your art.

And that’s why when you blame everybody else and post ungrateful, catty garbage like this:

… you don’t subsequently become the next Toby Fox.

The simple fact is that people will pay you attention if they think your offering + your hassle are worth their attention.

You need to create a world that someone other than you will have fun in and you need to be a good host to everyone who visits

You need a world that will welcome your fans with open arms.

You need to build a world people can live & play in.

And you and your world need to appreciate your fans just for showing up.

Because this is exactly what the big fish do.

because they spread your work around to more people without shanking you on credit and who gets the likes

because they make your work show up sooner & more often on searches and are simply a nice gesture

because they take time out and pay good money to listen to your story and make you from a pauper into a prince

because if you appreciate no one, no one will appreciate you, nor should they

- Clean your backpack and organize your books, notebooks, laptop and study materials you will be needing for the week

- Clean your pencil pouch in case you have random things that have ended up there

- Meal prep- if this is something you don’t do at all, maybe see how it works for you for a week. If you are not a meal prepper, try setting aside the food you’ll have for breakfast the next day

- Clean your bedroom and study space- this will help clear your mind. Having a clutter-free space will relax you aswell

- Update your bujo/agenda with the upcoming events of the week- also, remember to re-write any tasks that you haven’t done from the previous week

- Make a to-do-list for Monday- categorize according to priorities. Also, try starting your list with a task you know you will easily accomplish, such as “eat breakfast”, so that you are motivated to keep on crossing tasks

- Work out- maybe go for a walk to breath some fresh air and fuel your brain with oxygen, or do whatever helps you move a little bit more than what you usually do during the weekdays

- Have a set beauty routine- paint your nails if that’s what you like, apply a hair or face mask, exfoliate your skin, have a bubble bath, or do whatever you know that will relax you and set you in a good mood

- Review your goals, short, medium, and long term- if you have not written any, this is a good time. It’s always a good thing to check your accomplishments and remind yourself of your future plans. This will help motivate you and will give you an extra boost of energy for the start of the week to keep yourself focused on working on your dreams

- Check the weather for the next day and prepare the clothes, makeup, perfume, etc, that you’ll be wearing for the week- having some extra time in the morning is always nice, as you don’t end up wasting 30 minutes of your time deciding what to wear (as it has happened to me plenty of times)

- Have a tray dedicated to store all the necessary things you can’t forget before leaving your house- gather all of them, such as your keys, your wallet, a water bottle or anything you know you will be needing and place them on the tray

- Water your plants- if you don’t have a set schedule for watering your plats, Sundays are the perfect days for that

- Empty your binders, notebooks or bag from lose pieces of paper and place them where they should be- this way you’ll make sure you’re not misplacing any important information that you might need in the future

- Check your fridge and pantry, make a grocery list and go shopping- by doing this, you’ll be certain that you won’t be running out of the foods you mostly eat in the middle of the week. If your grocery shop is located at a walking distance, you can take advantage of this and use that opportunity to breath fresh air

- Finally, have some time for yourself!- watch a movie, catch up on your favourite show, watch some youtube videos, read a book, write on your journal, play your favourite instrument, have some tea, or do whatever makes you happy. Taking care of yourself will never not be a productive thing to do.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Happy birthday to the man that inspire me the most; Kim Junmyeon. ♡

You inspire me to always look forward and keep going. You spent seven years, working for your dream and it sure as hell paid off. You’re the very core and strenght of EXO and you’re the best leader anyone could’ve asked for. I just appreciate you so so much and I’m so extremely grateful for everything you do. Thank you for being your amazing lovely self. Thank you for being our guardian. I love you little bunny prince. Happy Birthday  ♡

It’s 2017. You need motivation? No, what you need is discipline.
IT’S TIME TO FOCUS.

Force yourself to do things. Force yourself to get up early, make your bed, go get ready, and go. Force yourself to make plans for the day, and follow through with all those plans.
Force yourself to get to class early so you can look over the material. Force yourself to pay attention in class and turn off your phone or at least put it on silent. Stop texting your friends and going on Instagram in class. You are wasting your time, so why even bother going to class if your are going to be distracted? Be selfish. Stop giving your time to people that do not matter. YOUR TIME IS SO SO PRECIOUS. STOP WASTING IT!

This is the most important thing that you can do right now, take care of you and your education. Stop being distracted by the world and it’s never ending problems. This is the time that you need to put toward yourself because you are the greatest investment of your life.

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

EVERYDAY is a chance to wake up and give your 150%.
EXHAUST yourself. That is the only way to give your all. At the end of the day, you should be exhausted from working so much, from reading so much, from exercising so much.
Don’t go home because you are tired. Do whatever you need to get done and don’t come home until it’s all done. Stay late at the library. You feel tired? Good. That is how you know you are giving it your best. Go to the gym, and give your work out your all.
When you go home, you should feel like you are drained. You should feel like you have nothing left to give because you gave it your all. Because then, you can be proud of yourself and everything you have achieved.
Giving it your all is what matters. Give your all every single day. Discipline your mind and your body and you will become successful.

You fall back one day? That is O.K., try the next day. You are human, so accept your mistakes. However, love yourself enough to know that you will never give up working on yourself and your dreams.
THIS IS IT. THIS IS YOUR LIFE. Right now, no matter what circumstances we are all in, is what matters. Take advantage of today. Write down your dreams and force yourself to work toward them, one day at a time.
IT’S TIME TO FOCUS.
THIS is your year. This is your life. One day at a time baby. One day at a time. Go ahead and don’t stop.

be bold and honest about your dreams and intentions

Draw your OC.....

1. Normal
2. As a child
3. Opposite sex
4. In the opposite sex’s attire (ex. A guy wearing a sundress)
5. As a chibe
6. As a animal, or if it’s a animal, as a human
7. In their PJs
8. In formal attire
9. In swimwear
10. With their lover
11. With their BFF
12. As a monster
13. Dancing
14. As a fusion with another OC
15. In the style of one of your favorite videogames/ webcomics/ tv shows/ anime/ etc.
16. As a centaur. If they’re a centaur, as a normal person.
17. In a school uniform
18. As a Yandere
19. Working your dream job
20. Doing what YOU enjoy doing the most

Your definition of ‘success’ may be different than your neighbour’s. And guess what? That’s alright. It doesn’t matter what the answer may be; the only thing that matters is that you put in your full effort each and every time. Show your burning desire to reach this dream that you have. Be persistent. Be relentless.

Sometimes you fail, and sometimes it is embarrassing and painful and hard and difficult. But it does not mean that you cannot succeed again and triumph in beautiful, wonderful ways. Just because it did not work out this time doesn’t mean it won’t work out later - sometimes in ways you never could have even imagined. Working towards your dreams is still worth it. I promise.

Genre: Angst/fluff

Word Count: 1.5k

Summary: It was like he forgot you existed, he forgot who you were and what you were to him. He had built up his walls once again, and this time you couldn’t break them down.

Reader’s POV

“Oh..I see.” you said softly, trailing off as Taehyung sighed on the other end.

“I’m sorry noona, I know it’s been forever since you’ve seen him…has he not visited home?” he asked.

You let out a humorless chuckle, as you replied,“ I’d be surprised if he even remembered where I lived.”

“Oh noona, I’m sure it’s not like that! It’s just with the comeback coming soon, he’s just been stressed out a lot lately you know?” Taehyung reasoned.

“I guess so Taehyung-ah…It’s okay, I understand…Just let him know I called at least, okay?” you asked him.

“I will noona…I’ll also knock some sense into him, okay?!” he said, causing you to laugh a little at the boy.

“Thanks Taehyung-ah…” you trailed off as you said your goodbyes and ended the call, slumping against your couch that’s been empty of Yoongi and his cuddles for almost 3 weeks now.

That’s right, for almost a month it was as if Yoongi, your boyfriend, had fallen of the face of the planet. You’d call him and he’d rarely pick up while his texts were always short and ended with ’Im busy, text you laters’“.

You were tired of it honestly, missing him and his warm embraces, his gummy smiles which were always directed at you and the way he would murmur the sweetest of words into your ear as you drifted asleep in his arms every night.

But for the last month, it was anything but that and you felt yourself breaking apart slowly.

It scared you how dependent you were of him, how much you relied on him and how much you needed him.

And the fact that it didn’t seem like he felt the same scared you even more.

Don’t worry about the amount of time it will take to get there. Work hard towards your passion, and let the universe take care of the rest.

Hidden Self Spread by intuitive-witch

**I created this spread as part of @thespiritedtarotchallenge and, for the purposes of the contest, I follow from my main blog @mainly-intuitive.

This week’s prompt is moonshine. I would have loved to have made a little moonshine cocktail while I worked on this spread, but, tragically, I do not like moonshine. I say tragically because I’m from the deep South and it’s practically a way of life here. Whenever I think about this alcohol, the first thing that comes to mind is the clandestine production in sheds and basements of moonshine during prohibition. So, I decided to create a spread about the secret and hidden parts of ourselves. You can use this spread to get a better understanding and acceptance of your hidden self.

1. Your Dark Side - These are your qualities that you may perceive as bad or undesirable. You may even feel ashamed of these parts of yourself, so you attempt to hide them from others. The first step to self-improvement and self-acceptance is to acknowledge the parts that you may want to work on.

2. Your Hidden Dreams - This card shows the seemingly far-fetched fantasies you may have. It could be that dream job, dream relationship, dream whatever that you may be embarrassed to tell others about or think you’ll never be able to achieve. I do want to add that while this is a fairly common reaction, you shouldn’t have to feel silly for your dreams and desires :)

3. Your Deepest Secrets - This represents the experiences, memories, actions, feelings, etc that you don’t tell anyone, or very few people, about. This card can also explore why you feel the need to keep those things secret.

4. Your Greatest Fears - What things make your skin crawl? What outcome or event do you dread more than anything? This card may help you understand the things you fear, and why you fear them.

Now that you’ve put a name to all of these parts of yourself, what you do with the information is up to you. Is it time to make a change, take a chance, and/or let someone in? It’s all up to you. I hope you enjoy this spread, kind reader!
