work zone awareness

National Work Zone Awareness Week: March 23 - March 27, 2015

In NYC nearly two dozen city DOT workers have been injured in work zone incidents since 2009 and seven died from work zone-related events during the past two decades.

Please drive slow in work zones. Crews are working to make the roads better for you. #WorkZoneSafety #NWZAW #VisionZero

Meet Roy. #NYCDOT Road Warrior. Father.

“My favorite part of the job is making sure I do something to keep the public safe. If I see something dangerous out there that can hurt someone, I make sure to fix it. I fix potholes, broken guardrails. You never know, someday my family might come down that same road.”

It’s National Work Zone Awareness Week (March 23- March 27, 2017). Help us ensure that our crews are able to complete their work safely, and remember that NYC DOT projects are essential to keeping pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists moving safely through our streets. Our recent campaign features actual NYC DOT employees who are heroes on the job and to their families.

National Work Zone Awareness Week’s aim is to better protect crews working to improve our roadways, but everyone in our city will benefit: 85% of those killed in work zones are motorists or passengers.

So, please be patient; work zone crews are working to improve your ride.
