“I’m sorry, the old Kara can’t come to the phone right now”
“Oh, ‘cause she’s dead!"
I am still confused how this edgelord Kara Danvers comes about? She says “Kara Danvers was a mistake” and even Alex doesn’t seem able to change her opinion on that.
I hope the CW doesn’t make losing Mon El the reason for it. However, this is the CW, right? What else could have prompted the change since we last saw her in S2?
There weren’t any scenes that showed Kara processing how she stopped the Daxamites (mass annihilation >.>), Jeremiah’s betrayal storyline was more or less swept aside, her platonic relationships at that point seemed strong, public opinion was also good, etc.
It has to be Mon El.
This is further reinforced because he makes an appearance in the dream (?) sequence with Alura. Her slave owning, liar of a boyfriend appears alongside her mother, whom she lost when she was barely a teenager. That’s just wrong. They aren’t even in the same realm, let alone level of importance of shaping Kara as a person.
Kara’s black mercy vision was to see her loved ones on Krypton again. Rather than having a strong mother-daughter moment the CW inserts Mon El into it. Probably to further justify the change in Kara and how his loss affected her so deeply.
Regardless, of the answers we may get in Season 3 about this new Kara, Mon El doesn’t deserve to be with Alura in that sequence.
