women are good things

Happy Lowman - Scottish Nutcracker

Requested:

You’re Chibs’s daughter and part of the MC. You’re about as crazy as Happy and that causes him to fall for you.
_______

Before the death of Jax Teller he made it to where both people of color and women could join the club.

Which was probably the only good thing he had ever done for the club in your opinion.

This made it possible for you to become a prospect and your father’s Club. That’s right Filip Telford was your father but it was extremely hard for someone to know that if they didn’t know your last name. You were nothing like your father and honestly you were a bit crazy in the head due to the fact that you have been abused by Jimmy for a long time of your childhood until the day you came of age and escaped him and Belfast to come here.

Happy Lowman was always an interesting man to you. He was quiet but extremely deadly. You don’t know how many times you’ve heard stories of him and his smiley faces that he had tattooed on his chest. Honestly you couldn’t see it but at the same time still could see that he was probably one of the club’s most dangerous members if they had. He was willing to fight and die for the club not something that many members were willing to do.

He also noticed you after a certain run that had you break the nose and kneecap of a man that was supposably a rat that needed taking care of four Club business.

Ever since that day happy had his eye on you but out of respect for his president he never acted on any intentions that he might have had period but little did he know that you had just as many if not greater intentions for him as he had for you. From your crazy smile too the look in your eyes whenever you knew that there was trouble brewing he found himself wanting to take you right then and there.

And that was a serious problem.

You were a firecracker to him. Always ready for a fight and always ready to be the first one out the door for the club.

It would be wrong to say that he was falling for you. Because truth was he wanted you underneath him.

I have this random headcanon about the Captain Swan wedding, ok.

So Emma and Killian make up yadda yadda, the engagement is back on, and he has a long lovely talk with Charming to make amends and all is right in the Charming-Jones world.

They get married and everyone (read: me) cries and it’s beautiful and wonderful and True Love Forever.

But then it’s the wedding reception. And while Killian and Emma and her family are all fine, whispers still persist following the drama that happened around the engagement and Killian’s disappearance. Gossip quietly tinges the party with the “well I heard he left her” and “no no no she kicked him out” and “well he killed her grandfather, I can’t believe David and Snow allowed this to happen” etc etc etc.

And it’s probably someone like fucking Grumpy running his dumb mouth after too many beers when all of the sudden

**THWACK**

A fork jabs down, perfectly in between his fingers that rest on top of the table.

Running Out of Time: Bellamy and His Feelings

Obviously, there was a lot to unpack from the Bellarke Beach Scene 2: Hugless Boogaloo, but what I thought was most interesting was what it tells us about Bellamy’s emotional status.  The line I think was most telling was It’s pathetic, right?  She hates me but I keep coming back for more because there’s just so much desolation in those two sentences, starting with it’s pathetic.  That line lands like a value judgment on himself– he is pathetic for still loving his sister, despite her hatred of him.  It also speaks to his feelings of helplessness, both with Octavia and with their larger situation: there is not a goddamn thing he can do to make his sister forgive him or stop the end of the world, but he’s still going to keep trying.  But even though he’s not giving up, he also sort of has– he’s given up on the idea of surviving, really.  He’s got faith in Clarke (and Raven), but the cynic inside of him keeps whispering there’s no surviving this so he’s decided he’s just going to do his best to make things right.

And where things stand right now, there’s two important people in his life: Clarke and Octavia.  Other people matter to him, of course, but those two women are his primary concern.  Things are pretty good with Clarke and pretty terrible with Octavia, so when faced with the choice of “where to go from here” he chooses Octavia because Bellamy doesn’t want to die with her hating him.  He knows that still might happen but he has to at least try to fix it, even if it seems pointless.  He could have chosen Clarke and gone over to Science Island and spent his last few weeks on earth with someone who trusts him and loves him and supports him, but that would mean sacrificing any chance to put things right with Octavia.

And make no mistake: Bellamy does not see them coming out of this alive.  He thinks this is the end, and that’s part of what is hanging over his head when he says it’s pathetic.  Because he’s not just talking about returning to Octavia for more abuse, he’s talking about how he’s spent the last nine months fighting to keep everyone alive, often at great cost to his own moral values, only for everyone to die anyway.  He hasn’t reached Jasper’s level of nihilism and I honestly doubt he will, but there is a certain fatalistic attitude leaking through in this scene that punches me in the gut.  He feels pathetic and pointless, and so all that’s left is to try and get his sister to love him before they die.

But there is one thing left to tell Clarke, and that’s how he feels about her.  Guys, when he says Clarke, if I don’t see you again, there’s really only one way to end that sentence.  He has made it clear he loves her through his actions time and time again– letting her go in 216, going after her in 302, telling her he doesn’t want to be angry with her in 313, trusting her in 315 and 316, being there for her at her absolute lowest in 403– but he’s never actually said it.  It’s literally the last thing left to do, and standing next to her on that beach, he really does think it could be the last time he sees her, and not just because of praimfaya.

It’s because over the course of the last few days, Bellamy has thought his sister died and watched their best hope for surviving the apocalypse go up in flames.  And in the course of the previous twelve hours, he thought Clarke was dead and/or that he would watch her die twice.  Clarke might not make it back before the radiation hits, or she might die from a stray arrow or an ambush or 400 other things that could go wrong.  He knows that life is uncertain in their world and he’s not sure he’ll ever see her again.  Thanks to Echo, Bellamy knows what it feels like when someone you love dies with things unsaid, so he steels himself for what is about to be a painful admission because he knows he loves her and he knows she loves him, but he also thinks Clarke doesn’t love him in the same way.  He’s not planning on telling her this because he thinks she’ll reciprocate, he’s planning on telling her he loves her because that’s all there is left to do.

But Clarke stops him.  First of all, guys, she fucking knows what he’s about to say.  They just spent an entire episode being Drift Compatible as fuck, and she just said she’ll see how special you are which is a weird fucking thing to say about someone’s sibling (I don’t really need to see how special my brother is; I  need to remind him of how we used to play chicken while sledding and I won every fucking time because he’s a goddamn chickenso you cannot tell me she would have been surprised if he said I love you.  Clarke was talking about her feelings for Bellamy here and pretending it was about Octavia because right now, feelings are painful for Clarke.  (If you’re special wasn’t a significant admission for Clarke she wouldn’t have broken eye contact after she said it.)  She’ll see how special you are is as close to I love you as Clarke can get at the moment, and I do think that if Bellamy was wavering (do I tell her I love her?  Or do I leave that unsaid because she’s not ready to hear it?) having Clarke tell him he matters was all he needed to decide.

Except Clarke sees where this is going and stops him, but not just because hearing Bellamy Blake say I love you when she’s still a tangled mess of grief and fear would be too much.  She stops him because she knows he’s saying it because he’s giving up hope, but she hasn’t yet.  She believes they can survive this so there’s no need for last minute love confessions.  In Clarke’s mind they have a future, and letting Bellamy say this might be the last time I see you so you need to know I love you is just too painful to contemplate.  Bellamy was ready to say goodbye, but Clarke isn’t.

I’m honestly not sure if Bellamy would have said it anyway if Roan hadn’t interrupted them.  He wasn’t looking convinced, at any rate, and I suspect if Roan hadn’t blown the Time Out From Feelings Whistle, Bellamy would have gone through with it.  Not because he doesn’t consider Clarke’s feelings important, but because he’s desperate.  This is it: the finish line is approaching, so make your peace and get ready for whatever comes next.

But Clarke didn’t stop Bellamy because she didn’t want to hear that he loves her; she stopped him because in her mind, there’s still time.  It wasn’t “If you love me I’d rather die not knowing,” it was “Please don’t say goodbye to me because I haven’t given up hope.”  Clarke is an expert at last-minute love confessions but she’s not ready to say they’ve reached that point.  She has hope that there will be time later to talk about this, so she doesn’t say I don’t want to hear it she says we’ll talk about this later.  Because Clarke has decided there will be a future for Bellamy, whether he believes in it or not.

Something Missing (something strange) - Gaston/OC

Okay, so this is my first foray into Beauty and the Beast fics. I blame the 2017 movie (though I’ve been obsessed with the original movie since I first saw it as a child). I ended up writing the ending to this before the beginning and it turned out far longer than I had expected. It’s pretty rough right now but seeing as I’m leaving tomorrow for vacation, I wanted to give you something. (Also I could not get this out of my head). Let me know what you think (and if you find any errors both grammatically and characterization wise).

Title: Something Missing (something strange)

Warnings: None really. Some misogyny because it’s Gaston.
Summary: Elise has finally returned to the village of her childhood. Things are not quite as she left them.

  • person: why do you like mad max so much?
  • what i mean: there are no less than 14 women protagonists who all have agency and are narrators of their own stories and none of them exist as male wish fulfillment or as a side kick to a male character and they all have different personalities and purposes and their strengths and weaknesses are presented without making some statement about women being better or less than men but also they use their femininity in extremely powerful ways which demonstrates that women are different than men but no less valuable to the story and they are put on equal playing field with the men in the movie and are not sexualized or demeaned despite the fact that five of them are escaping sex slavery and the sexual violence against them is never shown and one of the messages of the movie is that even these women in positions of 'privilege' are still oppressed and are victims of male violence and entitlement which reminds me that another message of the movie is the destructive nature of toxic masculinity and even the good guys in the movie are not praised or unnecessarily affirmed by the women when they do good things but instead there is a sort of mutual trust and friendship built that is way more realistic and powerful and basically it passes every test associated with how women are treated in movies and also it's just a really damn good movie with amazing visuals and insane amounts of world building and beautiful cinematography and real messages about our world
  • what i say: there's a guy with a flame throwing guitar

The just reward for good women who do the right thing and save sex for a husband only: Pregnancy!! Children!! Motherhood!!

The just punishment for bad women who do the wrong thing and have sex for themselves: Pregnancy!! Children!! Motherhood!!

On Jashi

Samurai Jack has suffered a lack of waifus and women in general, so Ashi being a mainstay I think is a good thing.

The episodes we have so far admittedly do not make good shipping canon, but it does provide a foundation. Even if their relationship does not go romantic, theres still the bases of a friendship, or even a master/student type of relationship because Jack is so much more skilled then she is.

I personally do ship Jashi, but I can see why others would not, or would even DISLIKE the ship, as Ashi, well, shes kind of a little shit and she has traits that I think would turn people away.

But then theres the idiots who HATE it and start discourse over it.

Incest

For some reason people insist this ship is incestial because of a headcanon that Jack is actually the father of the daughters of Aku,

To these people I ask “Are you retarded?” Theres NO evidence that Jack is the father to Ashi or any of her sisters, its just fan theory and not even a particularly good one at that.

Pedophilia

Another one ive heard. You know, im not even sure people know what Pedophila is, because they clearly have no fucking idea.

Ashi is quite clearly an adult as we saw her grow up from a child. Id say shes in her twenties, shes more then old enough.

And Jack is Ageless, sure hes around 75 years old, but he still has the body he had when he was in HIS twenties. And even if he wasnt, so what?

Shipping an 80 year old man and a twenty something woman, might be weird, but its NOT pedophilia and its STILL A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO CONSENTING ADULTS.

Holy shit.

Now these arent the only two reasons why I think people dont like the ship. I think they dislike it because it interferes with their own ships.

Remember earlier I said that Samurai Jack suffered a lack of waifus and women in general? Well what happens in fandoms when you suffer a deficit in one gender? You get a bunch of gay ships! (Well you get a bunch of gay ships regardless if the genders are equal or not) So Jashi kills these ships.

Jack x Johnny Bravo.

During Cartoon Networks hayday, where Jack originally aired, they had these bumpers that played between shows where it showed the characters of cartoon network all living together in the same universe. One such bumper showed Jack and Johnny Bravo in a laundromat doing their laundry. They have an awkward conversation when Jack’s gi is accidently dyed pink because Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls left her gown in the washer. No one thought anything of this bumper at the time, but of course years later when Fandoms and Shipping became a Thing, people thought the conversation between Johnny and Jack was loaded with sexual tension or some shit.

Its stupid, its non canon and Jack and Johnny have only ever showed interest in women, so……

Jack x Aku

Yep, people actually ship this. Ok, when Aku turns himself into a girl and messes with Jack, its kind of funny (He does it once in the show as Ikra, and he does it again later on in one of the comics) But its clearly not meant to be taken seriously. But people took it seriously. Its clearly supposed to be the “Enemies to Lovers” trope, but the things Aku has done is wayyyy beyond forgiveness or redemption. Jack hates him and wants to kill him and Aku does the same to Jack.

Jack x The Scotsman

*Shudders* I honestly cant tell if this is a serious ship or not, but I have seen mentions of it. No, just no. The Scotsman loves his wife. Thats….all there is to say on the matter.

Now if you ship any of those ships above, you are certainly welcome to continue to ship them. I dont mean to bash on them and you are free to ship what you want. But I dont have to like it and I gave my reasons why I didnt like them.

Anyway thats my very long post on the matter

The girl scoffed in offense. “What are you going to do about it” she asked in a high pitched tone. His nonchalant attitude wasn’t what she was expecting.

The Hijab: why it can kiss my ass

I hate it when people say that it isn’t mandatory. It’s such a bull faced lie. It’s almost like saying that you aren’t required to do homework. No you aren’t physically forced to do homework (depending on the situation) but if you want to grasp a passing grade you better do it. Even disregarding the debate on if women are required to wear it and what it is supposed to look like, the hijab innately is one of the most of not the most misogynistic symbols and degrading articles of clothing. Let’s break it down. The hijab is for modesty. Okay that’s not terrible modesty can be a good thing right? But why do women have to be modest? Well because men aren’t physically capable to control their sexual urges so if a woman shows her arms and or legs she is in danger of being sexually harassed or raped, and because women’s sex drives are practically nonexistent it is our responsibility to keep men in check. This is majorly fucked up in a plethora of ways:

- if a women is raped then she is blamed for it because of the level of modesty in her clothing constituted for her getting raped and if she just dressed more modestly it wouldn’t have happened. We see this in the adultery punishments in Islam and how much more women are punished despite her not consenting.

-women are made to wear the hijab when they hit puberty, some even younger. The message that sends is children are too sexually enticing for men. CHILDREN. ARE. TOO. SEXY. We see this with Prophet Mahamed’s 6 year old wife whom he had sex with at the age of 9. Some Muslims argue that it was a different time and fucking children was normal. Apparently things haven’t changed.

-women aren’t people anymore, they’re walking billboards advertising Islam. There is no individuality with the hijab. You are not you anymore, you are Islam. You can get lost in the crowd because you don’t look like yourself you like every other hijabi out there. Some may find pride in that. Some feel suffocated.

All in all I think that if you choose to wear the hijab that’s fine. It’s not my goal to wipe Islam off the Earth. I just think if people really got to choose what they wanted the hijab and Islam as we know it today would cease to exist.
