REQUEST May I please get a oneshot where the reader is Clint Barton’s adopted sibling (they adopted each other as siblings during his circus days) and they tease him about liking Nat and he gets flustered so he starts teasing the reader about liking Steve and Steve overhears?
(I hope you enjoy!)
“Will you just admit it already?”
Clint fired off another arrow, hitting the bullseye of the practice target. “There’s nothing to admit.” Whether he was purposely avoiding eye contact or he was just focusing on the targets, it was hard to tell.
“Oh, don’t pretend that nobody can see those glances you give her when she’s not looking.” I crossed my arms, teasing him.
The blush that crept across Clint cheeks did not go unnoticed. “There aren’t any glances!” He took a breath to compose himself. “Me and Nat, it’s not like that, okay?”
“If you say so,” I said in a sing-song voice. A few moments of silence passed while Clint notched another arrow and got himself set to fire it at the target. Right before he let it go, I spoke up. “But you do like her.”
Clint groaned as he released the arrow, and completely missed the target because my voice had distracted him. He quickly turned around to look at me. “You know what? If you wanna talk about liking somebody, how about the giant crush you have on Steve?” My eyes widened and I felt my cheeks heating up. “See? Not so fun when you’re on that side of the conversation.” Clint smirked.
I playfully shoved his arm. “Shut up, that’s different.”
“How’s it different?”
“Because Nat totally likes you back.”
“You don’t think Steve likes you?”
I ducked my head. “Not like that.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” I gave Clint a confused glance, and I was about to ask him what he meant when he gestured with his eyes over my shoulder. I turned to see Steve standing there, looking like a deer caught in headlights. “(Y/N), Steve, I’m gonna go…somewhere else.” Clint slung his bow over his shoulder and took his chance to escape, and I desperately wanted to follow his lead.
“H-hey, Steve,” I tried to sound casual and not like I felt like screaming.
“Hey.” Steve smiled, and I could feel my heart racing even faster.
“What’re you doing here?”
“I left something here when I was practicing on the range with Natasha earlier, and I guess I chose an..interesting time to come back for it.”
I paled. “You, uh, overheard what me and Clint were saying?”
“I did, n-not that I was eavesdropping or anything,” Steve said, suddenly sounding flustered. “I’m sorry.”
“Oh, no worries,” I waved him off, trying to play it cool.
Steve nodded, but there was a blush on his cheeks that was still lingering. “Um, you know, Clint’s not wrong.”
I quirked an eyebrow. “Not wrong about what?”
“Well you said that you didn’t think that I liked you, and he said that he wasn’t sure about that. He, uh, he’s not wrong.” Steve trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, looking at the ground.
“Oh?” I didn’t want to jump to any conclusions, but if he was implying what it sounded like he was implying…
“Would you wanna, I dunno, maybe go out for coffee sometime?” Steve asked, smiling shyly.
I blinked in disbelief, before remembering that I needed to pick my jaw up from the ground and answer. “I would love to.”
“Does tomorrow night work for you, around seven-thirty?”
“Yeah, that sounds great.” I smiled.
“Great,” Steve returned the smile. He leaned toward me hesitantly with his arms out ever so slightly. I laughed and met him in an embrace.
The moment would have been perfect, had I not glanced over Steve’s shoulder to see Clint standing in the doorway, smiling broadly and giving me a thumbs up.
Alright fellas, I’ve gotta go on a trip. I’m gonna be gone til the end of the month most likely, but no worries. I made sure to fill my queue with at least 100 Tenryuus so the blog won’t stop running til next week. Hope you all enjoy, I’ll see you all soon enough.
