with the earlier seasons

i sometimes think about how jake peralta went from someone who was uncomfortable with emotions, who would’ve rather been a lone wolf, who thought he had no real family and would end up alone, to someone who regularly says “i love you” openly to amy and terry and holt and his squad, who communicates his affection and resolves his fears with others, who clearly has his friends’ backs just as they do his, and i just get randomly emotional about his character growth and how far he’s come

Gotham + highest-rated episodes of season 3 (according to IMDB)

anyway it’s just so beautiful to me how vilde is going to keep the text sana sent her yesterday forever, and it’s something that just meant so much to her, and it’s something she’ll go back to, a message she’ll reread when she wants to remind herself of how strong she is, of how strong sana thinks she is. and she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about how wonderful sana is and how much she cares about her dear friend, and she wants to do something special for her for eid, to try to show her how much she appreciates her

Let's talk Lance

OK so I wanted to write this because I love how Lance has been written so far, and I feel like a lot of the fandom have sort of missed the important themes of Lance’s character development. Warning, MASSIVE wall of text incoming, so I’ve put the bulk of this under the cut.

After watching and rewatching season 3, I’m convinced that Lance’s character arc has been handled very carefully and deliberately. I’ve seen a lot of people hoping for a big epic Lance moment where he becomes a badass in his own right and finally fits in etc. But in my opinion, that doesn’t fit Lance at all.

So far, there hasn’t been a direct focus on character growth for him, at least, not in an obvious ‘this episode is about Lance’ way. There were points in the season, such as the interactions with Allura in which he actually had a serious conversation with her, that show he has grown from the wannabe casanova he was in the earlier seasons, but no episode dedicated to his insecurities within the team and him overcoming those issues and finding his role.

That doesn’t mean his issues have been forgotten (see him believing he should step down from the team twice in s3), nor have they been ignored.

in the halloween special.. whenever max interacted with any of the other campers, he wasn’t full of malice as you’d expect. sure, he was still his little shithead self, manipulative as can be, but he still showed some signs of lessening hatred towards the other kids.

before even a full minute passes in the episode, when he asks why they’re listening to the science speech? instead of insulting he it literally just asks why they’re doing it. pre-season 2 you’d expect him to call it stupid or something.

later on in spooky island when nikki points out the “doors on the ground”? instead of calling her a dumbass he just corrects her and they go right on in

when enid gives him the map. he admits it’s helpful with literally no visible inwards struggle.

and he actually says space kid did a good job breaking the window. even if it seems sarcastic, it’s still a good sign.

he overall seemed less quick to insulting the others as they went on their medicine hunt.. the only times he’s outwardly malicious is when he’s at risk of getting infected, which is a pretty valid response.

i could be misremembering how he was in earlier seasons, but…

really seems like he’s softened up a little since the S2 finale, even if we’re only seeing it in this episode so far.

Ol’ Scoob saw a ghost, which flung him from a bathtub into the basement, and then chased him around. Oh noes!

He tells Fred and Shaggy about it, but after checking the bathtub…

…they get really incredulous, cheesed off, and don’t believe him.

Fred says, angrily, “You’ve sure got some imagination!”

Meanwhile, Scooby’s all like

“Uh… guys? Remember earlier this season?”

“Y’know, with the possessed suit of armor… and the haunted castle… and the glowing scuba diver… and the creepy miner… and the dognapping shaman guy… and the blue-faced ghoul… and the giant ape man… and the living puppets… and the hypnotizing clown… and the second castle full of monsters… and the petrifying mummy… and the witch’s zombie… and the ghost pirates… and the alien specter with a haunted airfield of clones?”

“…is a ghost and a bathtub really where you draw the line of believability?”
